Fic Questionnaire
@ford-ye-fiji tagged me to do this; thank you. ^_^
How many works do you have on AO3? 106
What's your total AO3 word count? 395,897
How many fandoms have you written for and what are they? 27 fandoms, though for most of them it’s only like one or two. They are Akatsuki no Yona, Bungou Stray Dogs, My Hero Academia, Hunter x Hunter, Tales of Zestiria, Tales of Berseria, Tales of Graces, Tales of the Abyss, Tales of Xillia, Tales of Hearts, Tales of the Rays, Professor Layton, Noragami, Pandora Hearts, Dai Gyakuten Saiban, A Series of Unfortunate Events, RWBY, Tangled the series, Doki Doki Literature Club, Ori and the Blind Forest, Vanitas no Carte, Genshin Impact, Kiznaiver, Boku dake ga Inai Machi, Kuroshitsuji, Ai the Somnium Files, and Charlotte.
What are your top 5 fics by kudos? “Pictures, Posters, and Tender Beauty”, “Plus Est En Vous”, “My Reason”,  “I Am Here, Too”, and “A Bandage for my Scars, and your Heart” ...Not surprised that four out of five of those are MHA fics, but I will never understand how that Tangled the series one I did got so insanely popular..... maybe because the show director himself acknowledged it. 0_0
Do you respond to comments, why or why not? I try to, though I have to shamefully admit I pick and choose which ones I respond to. I appreciate every comment I get, of course, every writer does, but idk, I just feel like a broken record responding to all similar shorter comments with “Thank you so much!!! I’m so happy you liked it <3″ or something like that... Is that cruel of me? >_> I also feel weird responding to comments on my super old stuff, because aside from a few exceptions, I don’t really like most of my old fics anymore alkgklflkkl and I barely remember them enough to be able to give a reasonable response to comments on those. Instead I just put all my energy into responding to longer, more detailed comments, because with those I actually have more to work with to say back... But again, I love all my comments!! I’m really sorry if I don’t respond to your comment, it doesn’t mean I’m not grateful, I just don’t know what to say back OTL
What's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending? Haaaah, there are a few, but proooobably the most angsty ending would be in “Smile, and maybe tomorrow, you’ll see the sun.” Since the thing is basically 12k words of agonizingly drawn-out All Might death... :’) Though I meant for the actual ending to be somewhat hopeful/bittersweet? and I surely have other ones that have more painful endings... But that’s the obvious one that comes to mind, since I’ve had multiple people yell at me for it. :)
Have you ever received hate on a fic? I can’t remember any instances of outright hate, but I’ve gotten some... odd comments every once in a while... Or just some annoying criticism that the person didn’t intend to be mean about, I don’t think, but that realllly wasn’t warranted. These comments are very rare though.
Do you write smut? If so what kind? Noooo way in hell lol
Have you ever had a fic stolen? ....I mean, not that I know of!
Have you ever had a fic translated? Yeah, I think I had at least one someone asked to translate into Russian, although they put it on FF.net lol
Have you ever co-written a fic before? No... I really want to though. Multiple friends and I have planned different ones, but we haven’t gotten around to doing any of them yet because I’m into different fandoms atm and also dealing with health problems that distract me.... My ex-friend and I had a major one that was in the planning stages, but then she stopped being my friend so it never got off the ground. :’) I’m still upset about that...
What's your all time favorite ship? Mmmmm that’s hard; I don’t ship that much at all, so although I have a few favorite ships, one in particular doesn’t really stand out to me as my hardcore OTP.... Buuut I guess I would say Snow/Serah from FFXIII; I love ff13 so much, it’s so special to me, and those two are just the absolute sweetest and the heart and soul of the game 🥺❤️ I haven’t written anything for them or ff13 in general, but maybe someday.
What's a WIP that you want to finish but don't think you ever will? I only ever have one WIP at a time, so..... Hopefully not my current long one, I am constantly trying to slap myself for thinking, intimidated as I am by it with all my ideas for it and all the research I need to do. :’)
What are your writing strengths? I think I’m really good at writing characters’ emotions... the emotions they show, and everything they’re feeling internally. I really like the stream-of-consciousness style of internal monologue I’ve started using within the last few years; I think it’s very... cathartic? In general I just think I’m good at writing softness, cause I definitely feel the soft feels rereading my stuff lol
What are your writing weaknesses? Motivation.... starting a writing session and not getting distracted.... ADHD.... what do I do. :’) Although I just said I like that stream-of-consciousness style I use, I often feel like I use it too much, or things get redundant, and too wordy and overwhelming, bah..... I’m also shit at just.... knowing things, like worldbuilding, but like, real-world stuff that everyone knows, but I’ve been living under a rock my whole life and not done a lot of things that are normal for most other people, so I struggle with that in my writing, which is why all my fics not-so-subtly eek around mentioning things like food and irl places and so much else, haaah.... now I’m got myself writing 1800s Victorian London; someone save me
What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic? Ehhhh only do it veryyyy sparingly, like when a character is startled and might briefly revert to their native language, or something similar. I just did that in one of my recent fics, actually, and looked up a few Russian words, being super anal about getting it right.... and I still got a comment correcting my Russian, even though it was only like 3 words in the entire thing, with nothing else to say about the rest of the fic... it was a little frustrating :’)
What was the first fandom you ever wrote for? Akatsuki no Yona/Yona of the Dawn. That was the first series that really got me into fandom and making online friends, and gave me the courage to try writing fics; I’m so grateful to it for that, and it still remains one of my favorite mangas <3 Ah, to be able to pump out fics as easily and quickly as I did back then...
What's your favorite fic you've ever written? I think it’s still “Manufactured Hearts, Real Happiness”, the sole Tales of the Abyss fic I’ve written. TotA is my favorite game of all time, and I wrote this for a Tales big bang that happened a while back; it turned out much longer than I ever anticipated, one of my longest fics to date, and pretty much exactly how I wanted it to be, which is always the best feeling... I was so happy to feel like I did my favorite game justice. :’) Now.... my dream is for my current WIP to become my new favorite, if I can pull it off right; we’ll see :’)
Uhhhh I’ll tag @sixtyfourk , @cenally , @arcane-palm , @kyoukalay , @magicmetslogic , and @evevoli03 , if any of you want to do this~

What hasn’t already been said: The Spanish Princess 2
Episode 3: GOOD Grief! (we finally have a good episode on our hands)
To all those of you keen enough to have come back for another segment of ‘what hasn’t already been said: TSP’, as opposed to have just been scrolling when you see this - welcome back! (Scrollers you too <3)
Tumblr media
Drawing of Thomas More’s Son AKA who Margaret Pole at this point wants to be the step baby momma of ;).
To anyone who’s seeing this for the first time: what this is a list of observations, jokes, reactions and criticism which occur to me upon a rewatch. I wait every week until Saturday to do this so that I have had my fill of scrolling through the tag and aggregating what has already been said. I tried doing a whole spoof (here where I gave up 10% in) but tbh a) I don’t know the history well enough b) it’s more time consuming than I thought and c) this series is just not as funny or as crazy as TWQ, so it’s untenable. Having said that: This is not a hatepost. I’m not hatewatching this series and nitpicking on purpose but expressing my honest views and trying to find the good in it as well as the bad.
Without further ado...
First Scenes:
LMAO the way Wolsey suggests they break their alliance with Spain is freaking hilarious because the actor delivers the lines as if he were a high school girl making a personal attack by suggesting the prom change its theme to 70s disco to the chagrin of the peppy up-and-coming rival.
Also @ Henry VIII looking like the peppy up-and-comer’s bff and shy stan with that pencil bite and small smirk when Catherine loses her cool against Wolsey.
I’m sorry... who is Henry married to again?
Also what is Margaret Pole doing at the council meeting?? I’m not saying I don’t like it.
Margaret Pole warning against certain repetitive thinking creating madness :(((
Attempted Naked Twister:
Oh Catherine, what is with you and all the other STARZ protagonists and that weird politcky bedroom talk? Who actually finds this sexy?
‘Catherine you are unnatural’ ooof that line delivery was somehow haunting.
Was the whole ‘I can’t be rushed you are off-putting with your overpowering’ a callback to Arthur and Catherine? Apparently there’s another writer for this episode so I won’t put all subtly past them.
Scotland:
‘Shitey men’ asdkjashd
Look I’m tired of all this ‘my children won’t be safe’ line getting repeated. Look mate, murder of royal infants and children was not exactly a common occurence, even in cases of deposition. The Princes in the Tower are an exception to this but a very infamous case for that reason. Child murder was extremely taboo. In situations like this with an infant kid, no one is going to bother murdering the babies and taking their thrones, the lords will just vie for power and make themselves de facto rulers and oust the queen. It’s not a question of safety but a question of holding power. Stop giving all women characters perma mummy brains.
Maggie being all caring:
‘Barnaby’ *scoffs* ‘Such an English name’ - OH MAN 0_0 is Catherine mocking them for trying to adapt ? Like I know it’s meant to show her envy for Lina, but it’s coming out all messed up.
Our girl Maggie’s smile screams I’m beating your ass in chess.
Anyhow this is the least histrionic we’ve seen Catherine so far.
Chaplain vs Catherine:
I’m interested how Catherine will feel at Stafford’s execution given that I have noticed this show build up to a friendship between them.
Why is everyone laughing at the whole ‘will you delight us with new schemes’ line was not that funny?
LMAO at Thomas Boleyn’s attempted brown-nosing.
You know what? Ruairi is a decent actor. When he says ‘so you admit it? you lost the child because you tried to be a man?” the actor conveys Henry’s troubled mind, lowkey scare towards Catherine and bewilderment all in one. The way his eyes do not move but just widen emotionlessly also gives this sense that he is being manipulated (which I guess they are going for with Wolsey). Then the whole choir music in the background.. I don’t know.. I’m liking this, it’s creating a vibe of a king of haunted and increasingly paranoid Henry. I’m sure they are going for that, so good.
Ursula Pole and Mama:
Maggie Pole say ‘riches don’t keep you safe’ with tears in her eyes :’(. Please tell me how this is not her thinking on her parents and granddad Warwick and what befell them ;’(.
I find Ursula refreshing actually, don’t get those types of heroines often. But they are making her similar to a gold-digger, an exhalted marriage was first and foremost considered a thing of honour. Noblepeople wouldn’t speak in such mercenary terms regarding their marriages.
Post Mary Defiance:
I love the ‘horse’ nickname from Brandon n’awwww
Also just realised what made TWQ so atmospheric - that wierd ‘oooo’ sound effect in the background when a character was being paranoid or worrying. They are using it during Henry’s ‘How is it that I have no sons?’ and it is just... so effective.
Catherine calling them ordinary children... she just keeps striking me as more and more classist. Like ok, I know every royal was... but still, I thought she was meant to see Lina as a friend and equal despite her race and status. To add the race element, this kind of rubs me the wrong way.
Also it is so clear by the end when Catherine states how the king is upset with her, she expects Maggie to ask her about it.. but she doesn’t lmao.
Back to Scotland until Sexy boy fencing:
I love me this soft boi. Angus <3 <3
I like how they address that some men don’t really like killing and that violence isn’t inherent in a man’s nature.
Oh man, are we supposed to look at Lina’s house and deplore the impoverished conditions? It would go for at least 3,000,000 pounds in today’s property market?
Is Catherine being particularly classist again with ‘Why u not becoming a butcher Wolsey, ey?’.
Though I will admit the ‘but giving meat to the poor is also good’ was one of her only smart comebacks.
Just realised, Catherine’s pink dress pretty as it is, looks straight out of the 1570s... why?
Montage and After:
You guys are right, there is this weird longing between Henry and Wolsey lmao. It is actually insane.
So basically Catherine is officially depressed
OOOFF we have Stafford as regent instead of Catherine. (edit: I suppose it’s cause they go to France which they didn’t historically? Also if Stafford is at home then what is his son later doing in France, why would he be there without his father. This show didn’t think this through)
Meg Singing:
An impassionate speech is not too anachronistic. But despite the title of this post (what hasn’t been said) I will reiterate that 16th century and Medieval people’s problem wasn’t that they were ashamed of their grief and didn’t cry. In fact, crying was somewhat more socially acceptable then than it even is now! Even manly men like Arthur were written as crying in literature such as Malory’s Morte d’Arthur. Obviously you couldn’t go overboard, but in truth crying was indeed often too performative rather than hidden too much behind doors.
Pole and More UWUWU in France and after:
I LIKE THIS INTELLECTUAL FLIRTING
It’s nice to see a depiction of romantic feelings between mature and level-headed subjects.
God Mary Tudor is so beautiful in this scene jesus. and the music when she was being presented was also very beautiful.
Maggie Pole getting given ‘a modest income’ yeah... she was one of the wealthiest peers of her day.
Also Maggie’s lady cousin not lady aunt Frost!
‘shaking of the sheets’ lmaoooo
William Compton cracks the hell out of me. I love this guy. He is just so creepy and twisted yet super keen and friendly. ahaha He looks like a riot, I hope we see him more. lmao tiles.
Also this palace feels very anachronistic almost 18th century-ish.
I like the Louis and Mary sequence, it’s nice seeing him trying to make her feel less scared, but OMFG when he lay on that chair.. for one second I thought they were trying to kill him off already.
Scotland: ‘Love is an open doooooorrrrr’ + Last Scene:
I ship Meg and Douglas ahhhh this soft boi x strong woman match is everything Henry and Catherine could have been.
I wonder... why is Lina speaking in Spanish more than Catherine. hmmm Are they trying to foreshadow Lina’s eventual return home and how Catherine become a true englishwoman?
Conclusion:
7.5/10
I cannot in all fairness believe it. This was actually decent. I’ve given up on historical accuracy long ago so by this point I’m focusing more on how it stands as as drama. I mean, TWQ was also a flop when it came to grasping the complex issues of that era but why do I feel compelled to rewatch it every year? Because it had atmosphere when it came to acting, music, certain aesthetics (though the costumes let me down often). It felt adequately gothic and dark, yet bright and jewel-lish when it had to be, sometimes both at the same time. Some one-liners were also memorable etc...
So far TSP 2 did not have any of this. Everything felt way too off and anachronistic. But not even consistently anachronistic. The music was also often very meh (though I just noted the absence of the spanish stringy theme that kept playing in season 1 - I guess I understand why), the dialogue very clichéd (‘alright lads let’s throw in the words: king, crown, power, fight, battle + other buzzwords and we have ourselves Shakespeare’) and so on... but I saw a change in this episode and I couldn’t initially point out what it was.
Upon rewatch, I identified some of the improvements (noted above) but above all: The producer was different! Boy does it show. Unfortunately, I think she is only for this one episode which really sucks. Come back! There is more chemistry between the couples, less predictable interactions, pervy Compton, cinnamonroll Douglas, better music, more scenic shots (e.g Douglas and Margaret in church) e.t.c. I hope it will match the rest of the STARZ productions in getting better towards the end.
Look it’s no masterpiece. But I’ll give credit where it’s due because at least this time it didn’t leave me feeling wanting and unsatisfied (if that makes sense).

You know I joked about with my good buddy @pikablob making a Bioshock 3 AU before like...finishing the first and second game. I’ve completed Infinite and Burial At Sea part 1 years back.
Mainly when discovering certain things in the Bioshock lore. I had this weird funny idea of...I’m gonna copy what I said. This is what I typed.
Beware I make no sense....I’m literally a noob....I am just rambling in here.
GeekGem: Man Bioshock is honestly a deep and I guess pretty layered series of games. With it's concepts of morality and seeing what some folks or so said in the tag I searched up and whatever. I was rebellious at first because this talk of it being so great annoyed me. But this is intriguing.
Pikablob: Yes that's correct. :)
GeekGem: To be honest before I forgot before playing the original...I did think of a Bioshock 3 AU...it sounds stupid...but I'm intrigued.
Pikablob: That's really sweet man, go ahead.
GeekGem: After thinking about and reading some crap....I'm gonna destroy the Bioshock timeline. :)
Pikablob: What? 0_0
*GeekGem grabs a jar that just says Bioshock 3 and he throws it at the timeline*
Pikablob: *Does Homer Simpsons scream* NOOOOOOOO!!!!
Honestly Bioshock is a series I haven’t gotten huge in. Including I was surprised to hear a new game is in developer because I thought the game series is dead.
Yet yeah I was strangely rebellious against playing the original because all this talk about it being like the Citizen Kane of video gaming annoyed me. Including it felt like and I made a joke about it. But I don’t know if I should share it. Mainly about it seemed like the fanbase despised 2 and Infinite. Especially after Burial At Sea did some things to canon.
Including I recall one friend. He’s not a bad guy. But he’s like a critical movie critic. He’s a Bioshock fan and I remember reading a journal about how he wasn’t gonna get Infinite. Including that Bioshock 2 was like I think worse and one of those reasons that you play as a Big Daddy. He’s a smart fellow but I was young and I didn’t understand him because he talked a lot.
The point is it made it seem like the original was so good. That the follow ups were just seen as inferior. Including I was surprised Bioshock 3 didn't became a meme. But my friend Pikablob it didn’t became a meme because not a lot of people like 2.
Yet now that I’ve older since I have played some of 2. Since I’m experiencing the original game on my computer. I wanna make my own opinions. Because now that I’m older, I can understand why people like these games, playing them myself......
But what I also found out.....I seem to understand some actual criticism towards Bioshock Infinite now I think. Not just, “It’s a different game compared to the first game”.....but mainly about it’s themes......the racism, how some characters are portrayed and treated....I get it now. Because of today’s state of mind.
I’ll just reveal the Bioshock 3 AU thing isn’t a serious thing I’m gonna make. But the idea was of me thinking about, “You know...what if we destroy the timeline because someone fucked up the timeline by using time travel and the events of the first three games got messed up. Meaning some events never happened. While some characters were born later”......
With me joking to my friend about people saying how can you lower the bar after 2 and Infinite. While I’m like, “Hold my Diet Dr. Pepper” because of just the ideas of it......
I’m rambling and I’m trying to remember what else. Basically now people seem to look badly at Infinite now. I’m surprised a new game is happening because I thought the series was dead. Including people seem to despise the writers.....
You know to be honest considering I saw a post. I don’t seem to feel bad about killing villains or just....this is so random. I was just looking at someone’s blog and saw, “Okay....I get more of the dislike towards Infinite now it seems like”.
Edit so I read more posts....it’s basically the fault of this guy named Ken who wrote Burial At Sea......honestly reading some posts makes me want to do this Bioshock 3 AU more....unless the new game is Bioshock 3.
Also I mean...from what I learned...my ideas may seem possible considering there is dimension hopping that was introduced into these games......I’m rambling again.

I love TTBGO so far, though I have concerns about Branch and Gary. It's hilarious but too weird especially when he says it's his son... 0_0 Even if the show isn't officially canon, how would the twins feel if Branch still had that remote?
Yeah no the way Branch has started to act regarding Gary is…. weird.
I think (hear me out) it was to set up the two episodes where a) he had to actually take care of a small creature and b) the snack pack stole Gary and had to make sure Branch didn’t find out. I’m assuming here that the writers tried to establish this behavior of his as a running gag (a few too many times we see him in a situation that actually looks like he’s taking care of a baby where I was immediately deadpanning “….yeah that’s Gary.” before they could even pull the punchline) so that more weight could be added to these two episodes.
The fact that he does treat Gary like an actual baby sometimes is kinda unsettling?? But eh, I can brush off a little bit of weird for this show. It’s the fucking Trolls Netflix series, we all knew it was going to get weird.
I choose to abstain from making any statement on how the twins would react, lmao. Again, it’s a little too weird.

Hello, I see you support the bug daughter too. Glad I'm not the only one! It feels like her portrayal is so off in the fandom that it drives me mad, and often her mistakes are treated like mortal sins, lol. (That's the vibe I'm getting, anyway.) Many say she's been placed on a pedestal, but I'm just like: 0_0 *waves hand through air to feel out this invisible structure* "What is this supposed pedestal you speak of?" She is placed so low and people still try to bury her worth. Sorry to vent X(
Hello yes, sorry for taking so long to answer this but I’m always here to gush about our precious little buggy, and also complain about how she gets the short end of the stick in general, so feel free to vent here whenever. Also this is gonna get long, so watch out.
Marinette’s canon portrayal & fandom’s reaction to it
The handle of Marinette’s character is one of the oddest I’v come across, personally, because it’s not coming from a place of hate for her from the fandom. I know hate for a character, and this isn’t it. I don’t think Marinette’s canon mistakes are overly criticized either. That she’s allowed to be flawed is something everyone seems to celebrate, with good reason since it makes her more human.
There is one instance where I feel like the mistakes she makes in canon are judged too harshly, and that’s when people are trying to prove that Chloe can get a miraculous. It was mentioned that mean people can’t have a miraculous, which people who dislike Chloe took to mean she would never have one. Well, the opposition immediately retorted that if Marinette can have one, than Chloe can, which turns me off so fucking hard. Marinette lashing out a few times should never be equated to the constant bullying behavior displayed by Chloe, and if I have to see that excuse as to why Chloe can get a miraculous one more time I will flip. There are a million reasons why Chloe is and should be a hero, but fandom really needs to stop comparing Marinette’s behavior to Chloe’s as if it’s the same thing.
That’s about the worst of the criticism I’v personally seen Marinette get. At least regarding her canon character.
Marinette’s fanon portrayal/How fandom’s love for Chat Noir ultimately hurts her character
It starts getting icky when blame is being put on her for things she never did, and things she never said. The way she’s portrayed treating Chat Noir in the fandom is really troubling, though lately I’v been seeing it addressed now that it’s wrong how awfully critical she usually is of him in fanworks, but that’s just scratching the surface of the problem. For whatever reason, people think Marinette is the one who decided on this ‘let’s keep our identities a secret’ idea, which is the source of a whole host of other problems.
The whole thing is weird to me. Not once in the show does Marinette express worry over Chat Noir discovering who she is because she feels like he won’t like her, nor does she fear being thought of as being a fraud. She’s only ever worried over her identity being discovered because it wouldn’t be safe. Tikki herself instructs her not to reveal herself, so that it’s a staple to have Marinette be the one come up with this plan (that’s not even a plan, just her being insecure) is the most annoying part of her fanon character.
But pouring salt in that wound is that you can tell when writers are being critical of this thing she never even did, and giving Chat Noir a pat on the back for going with this ‘crazy, unreasonable’ plan to not know the others’ identity for the sake of Ladybug’s feelings. It’s just making out Marinette out to be silly and insecure, which directly or indirectly hurts Chat Noir, the silently suffering partner who just wants to respect her wishes.
It’s just a shame, really. While she reacts very emotionally to a lot of things, being a teenager who still has a lot of growing to do, she’s also able to cooly judge and be smart about certain situations, not revealing her identity to Chat Noir being one of them. Saying ‘a superhero listens to her head’ regarding this whole identity fiasco is such a great, standout line from Marinette, and it should be a staple moment people go to when writing her, but it’s like people ignore it’s entire existence.
But I’ll just say it. Marinette is written the way she is in fandom because this fandom adores Chat Noir. Not knowing who she is makes him upset, and blame has to be put somewhere, I guess. That’s the only reason I can come up with as to why Marinette is written as putting these walls up between them, so Chat Noir doesn’t come off as being reckless about the whole thing. It’s not like I ever really seen these insecurities written for Marinette actually be about her own growth, after all. A lot of the time it’s about making her feel guilty for hiding herself from him.
So, yeah. Marinette isn’t bashed to the high heavens as a character for making mistakes. She is, however, falsely accused of pushing Chat Noir away from her because she’s insecure, and this is something fanworks in fandom often ARE critical of, which boggles my mind. I would love to know the source of this false trope.
The Pedestal, or lack thereof
Regarding Marinette being put on a pedestal in the fandom, I have yet to come across these kind of complaints with the exception of seeing a few people say she’s too talented to the point of being mary sueish. To which I say, screw that, it’s nice to have a female protagonist that’s actually TALENTED at something other than being a bland hero. But that’s in the show, that’s nothing to do with how fandom portrays her.  Are there really people who think she’s placed on a pedestal in this fandom? Because you’re right, if anything her worth is buried. It’s buried under this fandom’s love for angsty cats with family problems. She’s wholly ignored as far as main characters are concerned, unless it has to do with romance.
And that’s the underlying problem for me regarding her character. Marinette isn’t hated by the fandom, not at all, but the love this fandom has for Adrien/Chat just overshadows everything about her, to the point where her character is muddied by it.
