#Yata thinks it's too bad this is all fake while Fushimi is so annoyed he even agreed to this

So lately ive been watching this Thai BL series called 2gether, and I was wondering if we could have a scenario like that where Yata asks Saru to be his fake bf, but eventually Saru catches feelings. Ofc, yata doesnt notice it, so when their arrangement is over he just tells saru "you can stop faking it now", and ofc this would hurt saru. Lmao im just here for Yata being dense and everytime fushimi tries to confess, yata takes it to be fake flirting. Thanks!
If there’s one thing Saru hates, it’s catching feelings XD So say Yata and Fushimi both go to the same college but rarely cross paths, Yata’s this outgoing kid who’s like a rising sports star while Fushimi is this quiet mysterious genius that all the other kids gossip about. Yata thinks Fushimi seems really interesting though and wants to get to know more about him. Maybe the two of them end up in a class together and Yata’s admiring Fushimi from afar when this other student in the class startsflirting with him all the time. It’s starting to get seriously annoying and besides Yata feels kinda trapped by not responding, like maybe rumors start flying around that Yata’s a jerk who leads people along. Yata has no idea how to get out of this situation and finally he decides that maybe if he already has a boyfriend this guy will leave him alone. None of Yata’s friends will agree to it though, who knows how long they’ll have to pretend to be dating him and no one wants to be off the market that long.
This makes Yata get the idea to ask Fushimi, sinceFushimi doesn’t really seem interested in girls (or guys) and as a bonus Yata can get to know him better. Yata decides to try and ask Fushimi for help and this probably takes a while, like he tries grabbing Fushimi after class but Fushimi blows him off, he tries waiting in front of Fushimi’s dorm but Fushimi walks right by him, and Yata can’t find anyone who will give him Fushimi’s number so Yata can't try to text him to arrange a meeting. Finally maybe one day Yata's wandering around campus late at night trying to decide what to do when he comes upon Fushimi being accosted by some other students trying to steal his money. Yata immediately barrels into them to protect Fushimi, while the bullies are reeling Yata grabs Fushimi by the wrist and tells him to run.
They finally stop behind a building, both breathing hard and Yata’s grinning like good thing I was there huh. Fushimi clicks his tongue and says he didn’t ask for Yata’s help, Yata says he was in trouble so of course Yata couldn’t just leave him. Yata admits that he’s been trying to talk to Fushimi lately anyway and that he has kind of a weird proposal. Fushimi’s immediately like ‘so you just saved me so I’d be in debt to you’ and Yata says that isn’t it at all, he just thinks Fushimi’s cool and he wants someone really cool to be his fake boyfriend. Fushimi’s like your what now and Yata explains, at first Fushimi clicks his tongue and refuses but Yata’slike begging him and finally Fushimi gets this twisted grin as he’s like fine but in return you can be my slave for the next few weeks. Yata figures he has no choice so he agrees, he’ll be Fushimi’s boyfriend/personal manservant for the foreseeable future.
Sothe two of them start the fake dating thing and at first it’s miserable for Yata, Fushimi keeps making him do all kinds of things just for the heck of it. Yata gets to cart Fushimi’s heavy textbooks everywhere (“Don’t drop those, Misaki.” “Of course not, darling”), cook Fushimi’s lunches, even do his laundry. Yata quickly learns that Fushimi is basically a hot mess who just looks cool and actually can’t even do his own laundry or take care of himself or be in social situations at all. One day Fushimi’s sick and so Yata takes care of him, Fushimi grumbles that no one can see them in his dorm so Yata doesn’t need to keep up the boyfriend act and Yata tells him to shut up, this isn’t about acting — Yata’s worried about him and of course it’s natural to take care of friends when they’re sick. Fushimi kinda stares at him for a long moment, mouthing the word ‘friends’ as Yata’s back is turned, and finally he kinda curls up in the sheets and tells Yata to do whatever he wants.
From this point on Fushimi’s crush just starts growing, he stops making Yata do his manual labor and instead it’s more Yata feeding him because someone has to watch out for him. Fushimi also starts becoming slowly less abrasive and instead more like awkward and fumbling, trying to find a way to navigate these new feelings and not being used to vocalizing things like ‘thank you.’ Of course it doesn’t help that every time he gets close to really expressing his true feelings Yata reminds him that this is all fake and he doesn’t need to flirt when they’re alone and it’s a gut punch for Fushimi who feels like maybe this is all one-sided and Yata really is just doing all of this for show. At some point maybe the other guys in Fushimi’s major find out that he’s dating that sports star Yata and they’re all giving him ideas how to confess to Yata, every time Fushimi actually attempts to try one it goes horribly wrong because Yata is just completely blind to Fushimi’s true feelings (though then meanwhile Yata’s admitting to his friends that he really likes Fushimi and it actually feels kinda bad that Fushimi’s flirting is fake, Yata’s friends observe the two of them together and are like wow these idiots in love).

Fanfic Rec! ( • ω • )
Tumblr media
Rules I’m constraining myself to: I’ve either had to read the fic more than three times and/or have thought about it years in the future. (This means I’ll have to leave out some other fics I really enjoyed reading and thought were well written)
A bunch of different fandoms will be under the cut! (as I expose what I ship across the board too lol)
We’ll Meet Again by George deValier (usuk) (complete)
This is the first fic of george’s that I read, and I’ve read it multiple times, and it’s been integral in my shaping of characterizations within my own hetalia fics. I could include all of his works, but this one stands out the most. I also listen to the vera verse songs and get extremely nostalgic, so there’s that
WW2 AU. London pub owner Arthur Kirkland is driven to distraction by loud, brash American fighter pilot Alfred Jones. Unable to stop it, Arthur finds himself falling for Alfred’s charms… just as the pilot is preparing to leave for war.
Roses Are Red, Violets Are Blue… by anonymous (pruaus) (unfinished)
This fic is odd in the sense that I found it while suddenly getting on a pruaus kick, during which I followed a bunch of pruaus people on tumblr. Eventually, I would find out years later that I was going to the same college as one of these people and become friends with them. So not only does this fic have a nostalgic tie to it, I find the story brilliantly written with wonderful characterization, though it is in a weird format.
Inspired by the film 500 Days of Summer, I’d really like to see a couple meet and fall in love, but eventually one (or both) ends the relationship because they realise it’s not working/they can’t imagine spending their whole life with this person/what have you. I’d really love to see how the relationship develops, with the happy times and the eventual bad times as it falls apart, and then the hope of finding love elsewhere.
Redeemer by CocoaCoveredGods (L x Light, Mello x Matt, Mello x Light) (complete)
I can’t tell you how happy I am that I found this fic after 6 or so years. I can’t tell you how nostalgic is makes me for my death note phase, remember when I would read this in my mom’s office, minimizing the fic on a laptop I hope she never checked. The writing is phenomenal. The format on this site is wonky, but doable to read. (I’m even reformatting it myself right now). It’s mostly everything I could have wanted in a death note fic; it even inspired my own very complex death note AU back in the day. In some alternate reality, I wrote that instead of AWH. I plan to maybe make a personal paper copy for myself of this fic I love it so much. It is on the level of George’s stuff on how much it means to me.
The story takes place *after* Death Note ends, although the main characters have not died. Here the Yellowbox Warehouse is essentially the pinnacle of L's 6-year long offensive against Kira, who believes L to be dead, when he really isn't. L faked his death, and proceeded with the case behind the cover of his three top heirs, Mello, Matt and Near. Kira himself doesn't succumb to his defeat, but is instead rescued at the last moment by his nemesis lover who decides that a more apropos end to the God of the New World is not death--but redemption, in the form of a new case and a 5th so-called Kira, that L and Light must bring down together... or risk losing everything. Yes, there is actually a plot LOL Buuuut, this puppy has yaoi and pairing's aplenty. LxLight and MelloxMatt are technically the mains, but when you cut straight down to it, this is a story about Light and Mello and how they go from hate to need, from enemies to lovers, and maybe even something more...
and indeed there will be time --orginally by lawlietismyfavorite, but they have since deleted their account :’( (the fic is still on AO3, though!) (L x Light) (unfinished)
I love death note, okay? After the beautiful live action series came out (the recent japanese one not that fucking netflix shit), I felt the need to read some fanfic of the series again, and I found this. HOLY SHIT. It’s a soulmate AU that goes through the plot line of the manga/show and fuck. Light is Ace?? The writing is so good??
L is the greatest detective of not only this century, but of six centuries. And then there’s Light.
Between the Lines by Klitch (Fushimi Saruhiko/Yata Misaki) (complete)
I’ve read this fic about 5 times and have accepted it as canon for this stupid show
The first time Yata saw him the kid was sitting in the corner of the cafeteria all alone with his bought lunch spread out before him, painstakingly picking out the vegetables and stacking them according to color and size.
Picking up the Pieces by SilverThunder (Fushimi Saruhiko/Yata Misaki) (complete)
I really like K. It’s a weird show, and it has copious faults. Maybe I just really like that the characters have so much potential, and this fic (as well as the one above) truly expands on that potential. This fic is an excellent exploration of these two character’s relationships, there’s just the right amount of angst. I’ve read it multiple times.
A whole year, gone from his head just like that - and how many memories could you fit in that time, anyway? It wasn’t a question Yata thought he’d ever have to ask, but with so many things changed between Saruhiko and himself, he wasn’t about to leave it alone.
It just sucked that the new world they’d built was still so easy to break.
to be first, to be best by kittebasu (chanyeol) (iwaoi) (complete)
haikyuu!! is odd for me because I don’t care about it anymore, but I really like this fic, and I’ve read it about 5 times. The characterization is on point, and the story is extremely well written.
Hajime is apparently something of a masochist, and as he stares down at the tie-dyed AREA51 T-shirt in his hands, he thinks“I’m totally in love with this asshole, aren’t I?”
Cat's Cradle by evocates (Fujioka Haruhi/Ootori Kyouya/Suoh Tamaki) (complete)
every new years eve, since 2011, my brother and I have watched Ouran High School Host Club. for the past 4 years, I have read and re-read this fic without fail in the days after
Kyouya had been able to see the red threads between people’s fingers since the day he was born. A song of fate, and the breaking of. Tamaki was a man who could never be predictable. Vague spoilers up to Chapter 63.
"Relationship Stuff" by arokitty, Ponderess (shinara) (complete)
This fic helped me realize I was asexual. It’s beautifully written.
"Relationship stuff" — that's what Yasutomo kept calling it on the occasions we discussed how things were going between us. He never failed to say it dismissively, as if it was an annoying plague he was forced to put up with. But even when I told him that he could opt out of it at any time, he did not pull back.
[lithromantic asexual Shinkai, aromantic asexual Arakita, quasiplatonic Shinara]
You Really Ought To Know by isengard (midotaka) (complete)
I really like this ship, and out of all the fics I’ve read of it, this is the one I adore the most (obviously enough to read it three times)
The Fates have an important message for Takao Kazunari.
A Gradual Fall by grassandcitrus (originshipping) (complete)
This maybe isn’t the best written fic, but it has a lot of heart, and for a ship that there is little content for, this fic served me well. It’s hard to write a realistic pokemon AU, but this feels grounded. For whatever reason, this ship still means a lot to me, so when I get in the mood for it, I’ll re-read this fic.
Meeting Wallace turned out to be a life changing event for Steven. He realizes that pretty early on. Other things, however, come with time.
The Punchline and the Resulting Silence by youremyqueen (thiefshipping) (complete)
from the author: “so i went ahead and wrote ygotas fic because, hell, if LK can record videos in which he vocally flirts with himself while playing video games, and then write gay porn about it, I sure as hell can write gay porn about it too.” yeah.
In which Marik destroys many household appliances, Bakura naps doggedly, and they sometimes pretend - with very little success - not to be in love. (YGOTAS, thiefshipping. ridiculousness meets poeticism meets more ridiculousness.)
Six Days As Boyfriends by sitabethel (thiefshipping) (complete)
I just really like this ship and I have since I was a 14 don’t @me
In order to avoid talks of arranged marriage, Marik convinces Bakura to trick Ishizu into thinking that they're in love.
The Longest Job & The Smallest Favor by emanthony (hisoillu) (complete)
everyone in like march-ish of 2018: omg in the new update of hxh illumi says that he and hisoka are engaged!
me having watched 10 episodes of hxh 4 years ago and having a faint idea of the series: who?
me: *looks up fanfics of them*
me: *finds these two*
me: *proceeds to read them 15 times and gets obsessed with the ship*
Illumi is forced out of the Zoldyck estate and seeks a living arrangement with an associate. He's not altogether pleased with it.
Hisoka is a floor master at Heaven's Arena and has the unexpected pleasure of spending time with one of his oldest acquaintances. He doesn't share Illumi's frustrations.
///
A sequel to the Longest Job, another HisoIllu fanfiction.
Hisoka and Illumi have been living together for six months now without much trouble. But when Illumi's youngest brother goes missing, Hisoka manages to make the situation just a bit too complicated and much more fun.
Lessons in Etiquette by KnockKnockBadminton (promtis) (complete)
I knew nothing about this video game but for whatever reason decided to look up fanfic for it after seeing some fanart, and then because this one was so well written, I, again knowing absolutely knowing about this video game or the series it’s a part of, binged the entire 164k fic in like two days. I’ve also re-read it and convinced my brother to buy the video game as a result. He refers to them as the “leather boy band” and sends me updates about his play through lmao
Begins in high school. From Prompto's desire to befriend the sullen, bullied prince blooms a relationship even the Astrals themselves could not have foreseen. Basically fills in the gaps from Brotherhood to the fall of Insomnia. Some liberties taken.
say it like you mean it by spaceburgers (takuleo) (complete)
Ever since playing the video game, I loved the dynamic between these two characters, and this fic is a wonderfully crafted and fun to read AU staring both of them.
Wherein Leo is a transfer student, Takumi is overly competitive, and they're doing Romeo and Juliet (but not as the titular roles).

(1/2) Yata's class is gonna do "Sleeping Beauty" as their school play. His classmates noticed Saru is actually good-looking and it may draw an audience and while Saru doesn't wanna join, Yata thinks it's cool that he'd play a lead role so he agreed. The class realized his personality isn't gonna work in the story so they changed it up so that the prince is the one cursed (so Saru won't have to do much) and the princess will save him (complete with a dragon fight scene). Yata is happy for him but
Tumblr media
Yata's class clearly knows nothing, Fushimi is definitely best suited to be the princess D:< Maybe this is early in the year too so they don't quite realize how bad his personality is. When it's announced that the class is going to be putting on a play of course Yata and Fushimi have no interest, Yata's like who wants to be in a girly play like Sleeping Beauty while Fushimi just shrugs because he doesn't care and doesn't see the point in wasting effort on it, as far as he's concerned he and Misaki can just hang out together and talk while everyone else does play stuff. Maybe this is like second or third year of middle school and Fushimi's started to get a little more attention from girls for his pretty face, though most of the charm wears off pretty quick when they discover his personality is the worst. However even knowing that everyone agrees that he's pretty handsome and when they do a secret ballot for who should play the lead roles Fushimi is unexpectedly chosen for the prince.
Fushimi's immediately like 'don't wanna' but Yata's kinda into it all of a sudden, like of course Saruhiko would be the prince, you're cool and strong like a hero so this is a great part. Yata's maybe exaggerating a little for the sake of the rest of the class, knowing that they'll be mad if Fushimi refuses and probably thinking well maybe I can get everyone else to realize more how cool Fushimi is. Fushimi's still not all that interested but since Yata seems so fired up he agrees, like fine whatever how hard could this be. He memorizes the lines like instantly and his look is perfect but imagine he's just a super bad actor, like Fushimi delivers most of his lines in perfect monotone and even when he's supposed to be falling in love with the princess it sounds like he's mocking her. Even Yata's somewhat dampened enthusiasm can't get Fushimi to not suck so the class decides to switch things around a bit and make it 'The Sleeping Prince' instead, so Fushimi can at least spend most of the play asleep and not talking.
Yata's still cool with this, walking home from school with Fushimi and talking about how isn't it awesome that Fushimi's gonna be a lead role even though all he gets to do is have his finger pricked and fall asleep. Fushimi shrugs and says it's fine, though he thinks sleeping beauty is a stupid fairy tale and why does everything always have to come down to true love's kiss, how useless. Yata stops dead like wait what kiss and Fushimi gives him a look like are you really that big of an idiot, at the end the princess is awakened by a kiss. Yata gets all red as he's like wait are you going to have to k-kiss the princess and Fushimi gets this wicked grin all that's right Misaki there's going to be a kiss. Yata starts freaking out a little and Fushimi just laughs, calling him a virgin and saying they aren't really going to kiss, don't be an idiot.
Somehow Yata can't stop thinking about this now though, he goes home and reads the whole script for the first time and yup, there's a kiss scene at the end. He can't even imagine Saruhiko kissing a girl but then the more he thinks about it the more he feels oddly irritated, like what if she tries to kiss him for real even though it's supposed to be fake, since Saruhiko's pretty handsome – well, that's what the girls all say anyway, Yata totally wouldn't know. And then when they're rehearsing in class Yata finds himself mouthing along the princess's lines, thinking about how wouldn't it be better if he was opposite Fushimi and then shaking his head like wait why am I so interested all of a sudden, aren't plays for girls. Even so he keeps re-reading the script every night in his room, just thinking about Fushimi being cursed by a wicked fairy (who in his head is played by Niki) and falling into a deep sleep and only Yata can save him.
The day of the play arrives and maybe there's like a big action scene right before intermission, where the princess initially sets out to rescue Sleeping Saruhiko. During the scene the girl playing the princess ends up spraining her ankle badly, they manage to hurriedly close the curtains and end the scene but it's clear she won't be able to continue. To make things worse the girl chosen as understudy is out sick and so they have no backup plan, everyone's like okay does anybody have the lines memorized. None of the other girls do and suddenly Yata gives this awkward cough and raises his hand. Someone's like 'perfect, we won't even have to resize the costume' and Yata's immediately like shut up, Fushimi snickers at him but they don't have any time to talk before Yata's shuffled off to the back room to get changed.
There's a quick announcement about the actor change and then the curtain rises and the audience chuckles as Yata appears, dressed in the beautiful princess dress (with his school pants on underneath) and a long wig. He's super nervous but he does know all the lines, though imagine he has a tendency to interject things that aren't in the script when he gets surprised or annoyed and the audience is suddenly way more into this because it's pretty funny. Yata gets to fight the dragon – which is definitely his favorite part of this princess thing – and then he arrives the rescue Prince Saruhiko and Yata isn't sure what to do, like okay the script said to kiss him but Saruhiko said it was gonna be a fake kiss but how do I do that. He's getting all red and nervous but everyone's waiting and finally he likes steels himself and leans down, lips brushing against Fushimi's. He's intending to move back right away but it seems like Fushimi just slightly lifted his head up and suddenly the two are kissing for real. Yata's surprised but can't bring himself to pull away either and there's like dead silence as the two of them get to kiss in front of everyone (and then the 'prince' wakes up and teases the 'princess' for being a virgin, and Yata gets so annoyed that he doesn't think to ask Fushimi if he meant to kiss Yata back, and Fushimi doesn't intend to let him know anyway).

Sarumi in a Boarding School AU? Haha honestly im not sure why but I like the idea of Fushimi and Yata being roommates who dont get along but, in classic romcom fashion, a series of coincidences and mishaps causes them to see each other in a new way. And of course the best part: the pining after they get through their differences, because their friends now but suddenly they want to be more aaaa yes the kind of quality trash im always thirsting for haha
Fushimi probably gets sent to boarding school so Kisa doesn't have to deal with him, like say this is right after Niki's death but since Fushimi doesn't have a Yata to move in with (yet ;D) he's stuck in the house alone. Kisa doesn't particularly want to have to deal with him so she decides the easiest thing is to send him to a decent boarding school where he'll be out of her hair. Yata meanwhile also gets sent to school maybe to like make some more room in the house but also hopefully to better his education, like Yata's stepdad works with someone who runs the school and offers to take Yata in as a student free of charge. Yata's kinda been struggling in normal school and the apartment his family lives in is pretty cramped so his stepdad figures this would be a good idea, Yata's not super into it because he assumes all boarding school kids are stuck up snobs but he also wants to take some of the burden off his parents so he agrees.
Yata gets to the school and is shown his room, he's all excited to meet his roommate and become bestest best friends. Unfortunately for Yata his roommate is Fushimi, who's probably annoyed that Kisa couldn't even splurge to get him his own room. The minute Yata walks in Fushimi's pretty much like 'don't talk to me,' focusing solely on his computer and his PDA and basically having no interest in making friends whatsoever. Yata's not so easily defeated though and he keeps trying to get Fushimi to open up, which makes Fushimi more annoyed and he starts snapping at Yata and probably calling him by his first name (which is right on the doorplate outside their room). Yata can't believe that a whole school full of kids and he gets the number one asshole as his roommate.
The two of them end up in a bunch of classes together, though maybe Fushimi has like extra classes afterward that are for the accelerated group and he keeps ditching them because Fushimi has no interest in schools or teachers. Yata on the other hand is struggling to keep up, no one really seems to have any interest in making sure he's getting the extra help he needs and he probably doesn't get along well with many of the other kids either, like most of the kids in this school are wealthy and learned all kinds of social etiquette and no one has any interest in loud, wild Yata. Yata doesn't even notice at first that Fushimi's being ostracized too though, like at first a lot of kids want to get close to Fushimi because everyone knows who his mom is but then when they see Fushimi's got no interest in anyone people start to leave him alone or try to bully him.
One day Yata forgets something after class and has to go back and get it, which is when he sees some of the other students picking on Fushimi. Yata thought these guys were Fushimi's friends and he's really confused, which is when maybe one of the kids starts taunting Fushimi about his dead dad. Fushimi immediately reacts violently to that (for reasons entirely opposite of what Yata assumes), like headbutting the guy who said it and that sets off a fight. Yata comes running in to the fray, deciding screw this he's going to help Fushimi even if Fushimi is a jerk (like at least Fushimi is an honest jerk instead of pretending to like people or acting fake-nice just to tease someone). The teachers eventually break the whole thing up and the other kids point fingers at Fushimi and Yata, Yata's like wait you guys started it but the teacher also assumes that Fushimi and Yata are troublemakers and they get detention together.
Yata's pissed at being put in detention for this, like he and Fushimi are left alone together in a room and told to write apology letters or something. Yata wonders out loud what he should write, like he's not sorry and those guys were out of line taunting Fushimi about his parents. Fushimi shrugs as he gets up, saying he doesn't care about his parents anyway and everyone here is worthless. As Yata watches Fushimi moves aside some books and starts to climb out this hidden window that he found a few days ago, Yata follows him and immediately thinks it's super cool that Fushimi found a way to sneak out of detention. At first Fushimi starts to tell Yata not to follow him but Yata's looking at him with shining eyes and finally Fushimi clicks his tongue and is like 'if you want to follow, come on.' The two of them spend the whole afternoon hanging out and dodging teachers before sneaking back into the detention room right before their time is up, afterward they go back to their room and Yata's just bubbling over with excitement and calling Fushimi amazing and Fushimi finds himself feeling suddenly lighter than he ever has before.
So now the two of them have become inseparable and they're probably total troublemakers, Fushimi getting Yata into all sorts of bad habits and Yata doesn't care because Saruhiko is the most amazing guy he's ever met. He knows though that the two of them are different and sometimes it makes him worried, like imagine they go home for summer holidays at one point and Yata thinks about how Fushimi's going back to some rich family while Yata's headed back to this crowded apartment. But then when they return to school Yata can tell that Fushimi's suddenly acting all distant and cold again, like something terrible happened when he was home and it makes Yata wonder what kind of life Fushimi has at home and is there a way Yata can protect him from everything. This then leads to the realization of how important Fushimi is to him and Yata starts becoming more and more aware of how physically close they are all the time. Fushimi meanwhile hates his family and wants nothing more than to stay with Yata but he also thinks that there's no way this can continue, like he knows Kisa can take him out of school at any time to use as like a pawn for his inheritance and such and he can't stand that idea, that he might have to leave and never see Yata again. Fushimi's also starting to feel emotions that he can't even recognize, like he has no idea what this warm feeling is in his cheeks every time Yata gets too close or why his gaze keeps lingering on Yata all the time when Yata's not looking and he's basically just got this huge crush and doesn’t know what to do with it.

MORE CHILD KUSANAGI PLS maybe Fushimi and Yata having to care for him? How would he react if they got into a dangerous situation? Or just fluffy things like them having to babysit a couple of days ^^
Imagine Fushimi and Yata suddenly having to play mom to theirunofficial mom figure :D Maybe post-ROK everyone’s trying to huntdown this group of dangerous Strains that are causing mayhem in thecity, Yata and Fushimi are working together and end up cornered. They’re getting ready to fight their way through when Kusanagi showsup and intervenes to help them out, he was with Awashima and they gotseparated. Yata’s in the middle of thanking him for the assist when aStrain attacks Kusanagi from behind, Yata moves just a little toolate to try and help him and suddenly there’s tiny Kusanagi staringup at them from the ground. Yata’s like what the hell and Fushimimutters that they don’t have time for this as he pulls out someknives because more bad guys are coming for them. Kusanagi meanwhiletries to ask what’s going on, all confused and lost, and Yata andFushimi move so he’s between them, Fushimi sounding all clipped andcold as he tells the kid to stay put but he’s notably making surethat he’s between Kusanagi and any enemies. Yata is pretty much readyto kick the ass of anyone who would dare touch little Kusanagi, giving Kusanagi this confident smile as he tells him not to worry,Yata’s got this handled. Then maybe while they’re fighting Yata getsinto a situation and Fushimi’s hands are full so he can’t help,Fushimi’s quietly panicking about his inability to save Misaki andhow he’s going to fail Misaki again and that’s when tiny Kusanagijust barrels into the guys attacking Yata, yelling at them not to bebullies. One of the guys punches Kusanagi and within like secondsYata’s just putting him in the ground with a single punchwhile Fushimi pins him down completely with knives, both of them sototally pissed while a bruised and surprised Kusanagi just stares atthem wide-eyed.
So once they take care of the bad guys Yata’s all fussing overKusanagi’s bruised face. Kusanagi’s still wondering what’s going onand maybe Fushimi makes up some lie about how Kusanagi got separatedfrom his guardians due to criminal activity that the police forcehe’s part of is cleaning up (Kusanagi looks at Yata like ‘you don’tlook like police’ and Yata’s like 'um…neighborhood watch?’ whileFushimi facepalms). Fushimi suggests they go back to the bar for thetime being, he’s annoyed at having to leave the mission unfinishedbut of course he can’t just leave Kusanagi in harm’s way either. Hecovers by saying they should get 'the civilian’ somewhere safe totreat his wounds. Kusanagi tries to act all brave like nah, I’m finebut Yata’s already seeing the bruising starting to form on Kusanagi’sface and he probably kicks one of the already unconscious bad guysjust for good measure. They take Kusanagi back to the bar and Yatahas Fushimi dig out the first aid kit as he sits the kid down on astool. Kusanagi’s very impressed with the bar and probably mentionsthat his uncle owns one somewhere and this reminds him of that,Yata’s like 'o-oh really’ with a big fake laugh as Fushimi justsnorts. Fushimi hands Yata the first aid kit and Yata totally fussesover Kusanagi for a bit in just the way he figures Kusanagi wouldfuss over him in this kind of situation, telling the kid thatit’s cool he helped but he could’ve been killed you know. Kusanagijust shrugs and says he wanted to help, since Yata and Fushimi weretryin’ to help him and all. Yata’s all touched while Fushimi justcrosses his arms and tries not to have emotions. Once they getKusanagi cleaned up he gets a tour of his own bar and he gets soexcited about things like the expensive wood finish and the fancybottles of wine, he’s heard about these kinds of places and thinksthey’re really cool. He holds Yata and Fushimi’s hands the entiretime and is always tugging on them when he gets excited, even Fushimican’t bring himself to tell Kusanagi to cut it out because it’s justso endearing how happy he is.

have you seen that gay ice skating anime? so imagine that yata's actually a figure skater but he hasn't made it to grand prix... yet. prob his mama saw a figure skating show in tv and made yata join at 11 or something. yata's embarrassed about his 'side job' so he doesn't tell anyone about it. cue his coach suddenly recommend him to join grand prix and he somehow made it past the national competition and qualified. how's everyone reaction prior finding out? maybe when they saw him skating on TV
Maybe it’s Yata’s slightly embarrassing side hobby that he doesn’ttell anyone about, like he tells people that he can’t hang out a lotbecause he’s working a bunch of side jobs but actually he’spracticing figure skating and going to competitions and he doesn’twant any of his friends to know because he thinks it’s embarrassing.I’m imagining this as like a no-powers AU where the Homra guys areall Yata’s friends and he wants to look cool in front of them, he’sgot great agility from figure skating that he puts to use when he’son his skateboard and no one even realizes that he’s actually thisdecently well-known figure skater, like he hasn’t made it to theGrand Prix yet but he’s nearly qualified a few times and he’sconsidered someone who has a lot of potential. Even his best friendFushimi doesn’t know about it, though Fushimi’s kinda suspiciousbecause not only will Yata run off to work at his ‘job’ when he’sactually training but sometimes Yata has to randomly visit relativesand stuff whenever he has a competition and Fushimi finds it supersuspicious that Yata has to go visit his ailing grandma for a fewweeks every couple months or so because okay how many times can youuse that excuse. Of course this also makes Fushimi really insecurebecause why would Yata be lying to him and is Yata trying to blow himoff because he doesn’t want to say straight out that he’s tired ofFushimi or something.
Then maybe Yata finally manages to win one of the cup rounds leadingto the Grand Prix and he’s super excited but he also can’t reallyshare that excitement with anyone since he’s still embarrassed aboutthe skating thing. Oh and then maybe it turns out that more peopleknow about his real job then he thinks though, like Yataspends a lot of time at Bar Homra and he really looks up to bartenderKusanagi and especially Kusanagi’s friend Mikoto who’s just thecoolest guy Yata’s ever seen. Except what Yata doesn’t know is thatMikoto’s little sister Anna really likes figure skating and one dayshe’s watching it when Mikoto comes over to check on her and she justpoints at the computer screen and is like “Misaki.” So after thatpoint Mikoto, Kusanagi and Totsuka at least all know what Yata’sreally been doing but Kusanagi figures that if Yata’s tryingto hide it they’ll just play along while quietly supporting him.Totsuka tries to ease things up a bit one day by suggesting Homra allgo on a fun ice skating bonding trip and Yata’s of course super goodat skating and everyone’s impressed, Yata gets all sheepish andclaims he likes ice hockey. And meanwhile Fushimi gets dragged alongtoo even though he doesn’t like most of the Homra guys, he’s not avery good skater and ends up clinging to Yata half the time andtrying to act like it’s not as if he can’t skate he justthinks skating is stupid. Yata forgets himself for a second and islike skating is not stupid it’s actually awesome and have youever done a triple toe loop because it’s super cool and—never mind, just kidding ha ha.
Of course since Yata’s prepping for the Grand Prix now he keepshaving to blow other people off more and more for training and hisfake grandma has to get fake sick a couple times so he can go toother qualifiers. Maybe he and Fushimi have a bit of a fight about ittoo because Fushimi finally gets sick of Yata making up all theselame excuses that any idiot could see through but Yata’s still tooembarrassed to tell him the truth and they end up having a big fightabout it the day before Yata’s supposed to leave for the Grand Prix.Yata’s still all upset about it even when he gets to the competitionand ends up flubbing his short program a little, not able toconcentrate because all he can think about is that fight withSaruhiko and how maybe he should have just been honest in the firstplace and none of this would have happened. Then the next day beforehis free skate he’s practicing on the ice when someone calls his nameand there’s Fushimi standing at the side of the rink telling him thathe’s an idiot for messing up already, Yata’s all shocked wonderinghow the hell Fushimi got here. Turns out Yata’s coach Munakata(surprise twist~) also works like a side job teaching at theuniversity where Fushimi goes and knew about both Yata’s skating andtheir fight, he dropped just enough hints that Fushimi was able touse the internet to find out what Yata’s actually been doing all thistime. Then Munakata kindly had Fushimi flown out to the competitionbecause he figured what better for Yata’s morale than to have hisimportant friend cheering him on. Fushimi gets all embarrassed andannoyed as Munakata explains this too, trying to act like it’s not asif he was worried about Yata or anything he just figured it wouldn’tbe so bad to watch Misaki skate live. He also happens to be incontact with Kusanagi and Totsuka and shows Yata live video of thebar, where everyone’s having a big 'watch the competition and cheerYata on’ party, Yata’s all touched and also feels like a bit of anidiot for not telling people, like of course his friends are gonna besupportive. Yata ends up getting his personal best score on his freeprogram, as he skates he keeps glancing over at Fushimi watching himfrom the sidelines and it gives his performance this extra oomph ofemotion that he sometimes lacks (and then Yata drags Fushimi to thekiss and cry and makes him hold the fluffy stuffed animals peoplethrew on the ice, back at home Totsuka takes a million screenshots ofFushimi holding a giant stuffed crow and plans to put them all overthe walls because it’s too cute not to).
