Today, Yarin didn’t have to work. So they spent the morning with a large cup of tea and a good book for them to read. It wasn’t a good book, but it falls under the section of the library they are in charge of, so sun at least knows not to recommend it to anyone. But despite that, they had a fun morning just lazing around.

In the afternoon, Yarin makes the drive down to visit Joanah, their biweekly lunch plans sending the two of them to the new deli that opened up in Juniper Grove. Sun orders a corned beef on rye, claiming that it’s one of the best ways to tell if a deli is good, and it is absolutely delicious. The two of them chat about their weeks and Joanah shares some big stories, and things feel peaceful, far from how they used to be. They part, excited to meet up next time!

For the rest of the evening, Yarin is home. They make a simple dinner, and sun just takes the time to take care of themself. The weekends are for Shabbat and for taking care of sunself. So they listen to some relaxing music before hopping on a call with some of the Fools.

This was 20 year old combat medic Yarin Peled from Kibbutz Be'eri who was killed in the line of duty by Nazi Hamas terrorists in Nahal Oz.

She had one last request before her death. She wrote on a note that if she falls in battle, she wants every Magen David Adom volunteer who attends her funeral to wear the uniform of the organization she loved the most: The white shirt with a red Star of David.

On Sunday at 4pm, she will be laid to rest in the in the military section of the cemetery.

May her memory be for a blessing
