This fear that I have been protecting is not mine. Just like it was not my mother's. Or her mother's. Or her mother's. Whose fear is this? That we have been carrying And that I have shrunk my lungs for To make sure it had room to be strewn on my sixth rib.

I don’t age regress nearly as much as I used to since moving away from where I was 9 months ago (turns out your environment can do a number on your mental health). When I do now while it’s much less traumatic and scary, even if it’s still largely unwilling.
I have recently found something new that makes me feel regressy in a willing way that I take a lot of comfort in, though it’s not something most people would probably think of as a comfort show.

Mr Samuel’s Teatime Stories by Yara Asmar is a show somewhat similar to Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared, but contains no gore or really any in-your-face horror elements. It’s an extremely atmospheric and unsettling show that’s kind of like if you where watching Mr Rodgers go through dementia.
Despite the intent obviously being unsettling, however, I find the show to be rather comforting. All of Yara Asmara’s creations feel like what age regressing feels like to me and watching it makes me feel less strange and alone. It’s hard to explain, but it helps me let out that side of myself without requiring a great deal of stress.
Something I’ve been listening to on repeat before going to bed is this lullaby; it’s my favorite of Yara Asamar’s videos and is probably the least horror-like (though the vibe is still a bit creepy).

I’m not sure what it says about me that things intended to be atmospheric, psychotechnic horror is the closest to describe what age regression is like for me and brings me a great deal of comfort to watch. It doesn’t seem to hurt and it’s free so therapy logic dictates it’s fine. I’m hoping is not a “sign” of some issue.
Maybe Bug is just a weird kid and letting them be that is what I need.
