What You Need: Nesta X Beron
Nesta was still furious after the High Lord's Meeting in ACOWAR. Beron had taken his entourage and run back to the quarters Thesan put aside for them. Needing some closure, she went after him. What she found was not what she expected.
Thank you to @iftheshoef1tz and @queercontrarian for talking through the idea with me, and @secret-third-thing for your editing and beta help.
Read a snippet below or the full fic on AO3. Be sure to check out the rest of the collection as well!
Nesta fumed, rage eddying off her in almost imperceptible silver waves. Even since the meeting, she’d been on edge, mind reeling over Beron’s comments. The way he’d described the Beddor’s demise, using it against Feyre as if she had set the fire and tortured Claire herself. And the way he had degraded Cassian as if the Illyrian weren’t twenty times the male Beron was. When the High Lord had winnowed his party away, his eyes had found hers, just briefly. A flicker of recognition shone in his brown gaze, enough to set Nesta on edge. She’d said her piece then, but it still wasn’t enough. Nesta wasn’t sure what would be enough. Her feelings about Cassian and her sister were still so inherently intertwined she couldn’t separate the two. What she did know was that she wanted time to sort through the mess of emotions both members brought forth in her mind. She was desperate to understand how they felt about her, how she felt about them, but the impending war and her new body had taken preference. What Nesta did know was that she would not stand for someone else speaking ill of either person. She dared not look too closely at the fact that Beron’s comments about Cassian had cut her more deeply than those about her sister. Her descriptions of Cassian’s worth to the High Lord had been the best defense she could muster at the time, but it wasn’t enough. She needed to do more to defend the High Lord’s General, to make sure that Beron knew just how vital he was to—no, she would not finish that sentence. Running from her feelings and toward his defense, Nesta set off in search of the High Lord of the Autumn Court.

Chapter 6 Threshing Pt 2: LIVE NOW
Three heartbeats. The length of time between his surefooted spin and the shift of its brown leathery foreleg as it prepared to leave the clearing. He paid no attention to the black above them. Its lashing tail sending boulders cascading down the mountainside. Three heartbeats. That was all it took as Naolin vaulted up past the clawed foot, away from the snapping jaw of the orange, and toward the crux of the brown daggertails shoulder where its leathery wings fanned out in shock at his audacity.
Pairing: Brennan Sorrengail/Naolin

Happy pubby Yanny…
For those unaware, my Yancy is a werewolf after these events.
The Illinois depicted is not mine, but @regalrain's, and co-written with him.
Yancy sat on the stairs, staring at the front door with his tail wagging slowly. Illinois was due to come home any minute now! He'd been unable to sleep, watching Illi's flight land via the flight tracker, and had snuck out of bed when he couldn't stand to wait anymore.
So there he sat, staring.
Finally, the lock clicked, the handle started to turn, and Yancy scrambled to his feet, tail wagging faster with his fluffy silver and black wolf ears laying back against his head with excitement. And the second the door was open completely, he was flying to tackle Illi in a hug, holding him tight with his tail wagging furiously. "You're home!"
“Well, hello to you too, Honey~” A deep, warm chuckle filled the air as his scarred up arms wrapped around Yancy. His brown suitcase abandoned at his side, holding some gifts he brought back. He’d give it to Yancy later, for now, he flicked his hat brim up as he looked up at him when they leant back. Hands moving up to then pet his lover’s fluffy ears, rubbing them and his hair between his hands. There was still a feral edge to Illinois, there always was when he just came back from any trip, and now wasn’t any different. His dark brown eyes glinting, as he pet him. “Where you a good boy while I was gone~? Hmm~? What’ve you been up to, Honey~?”
Yancy nodded, pressing his face into Illi's neck, and just breathed him in for a moment. Five months. Five months he'd been gone, and now he was back, and Yancy had a feral urge to bite. But, he didn't, and instead beamed down at Illi, grinning. "I wrote a new song for youse! But maybe that should wait until it's not, like --" He squinted at the crescent moon over Illi's shoulder, still visible through the open door. "...two in the morning."
“Time hasn’t been mattering much to me lately~ But you~” Illinois smirked, but it grew soft after a moment, as he pressed their lips together. Hands moving down to Yancy’s hips, swaying them both as he tried to settle himself. He was home. He was safe. More importantly, Yancy was home, safe, and happy. In his arms again, as right hand went to snake back up to press two fingers to his neck. The pulsing was comforting, and he closed his eyes, standing there for a moment before cracking them open again and peering up at him. “You need your sleep, Honey~ Let’s…. Let’s go to bed~”
Yancy sighed into the kiss, tail slowing in its furious wagging, and was content to just be there, with Illi. When they parted, he smiled, and took Illi's hand. "Let's."

Excuse me I wanted to ask for some advice. I’m a fan of pjo and I’ve noticed that none of the characters has mortal parents who are Greek. I want to draw some fanart about a character with a mortal greek parent but I don’t know where to start. And how I can not be stereotypical
Hello! I want to help but I am not sure I understand how. You want some sort of guidance on how to draw an ethnic Greek person without stereotypes and inaccuracies?
If so, it's easy because there is a fairly big pool of traits to choose from as long as you avoid some certain mistakes or rather intentional choices some artists do.
I won’t lie to you, I am a little afraid to answer because it doesn’t take much to be called names on Tumblr. I am gonna give a range often found on ethnic Greeks, meaning people who belong to the Greek ethnic group (and not just nation) and all their immediate ancestors in the last generations do too. I am NOT describing a mixed Greek, a Greek who has an immediate relative of a different ethnicity or one who’s Greek by birthright because then you could make them look like literally anyone obviously. We are going strictly by traits recurring repeatedly within the Greek ethnic group, when there is not known recent external influence. I don’t know how much clearer to make it for anyone waiting to rip me apart.
Also, the examples in the photos are from celebrities so naturally most of them look more attractive than average. That doesn’t mean your art will have to depict necessarily a prettier than average person, it’s just that such photos were more easily available to me.
Anyway under the cut:
Haircolour: All haircolours up to dirty or dark-ish golden blonde. No lighter than that. No ginger. All shades of brown under the sun. If you really want some red hue, go for red brown. As black as you want.
Hair quality: Thin or thick, silky or coarse, all the way from totally straight to pretty curly. Not extremely tight rings or afro though. Wavy is the most common. A lot of volume is common but not at all always the case. But again you can totally go for straight if you like.
Orestes Halkias is about as curly as it gets here.
While Maria Solomou (right) is famous for her black and very curly voluminous look nowadays, this photo from her youth with her friends shows her natural hair type which is very wavy or soft curly. All women in the photo have the most common type of Greek hair: brown, thick, silky, wavy.
Eyecolour: All colours, with brown and hazel being the most common and green being the least. You can safely go for shades of blue or grey.
Konstantinos Markoulakis has vibrant blue eyes.
Skin colour: Both warm and cool undertones, but warm are more common. You can go all the way from ivory to a strong tan bordering on light brown. The skintones in between are the most common though. No freckles.
Evgenia Samara and Yannis Pimenidis are a couple of actors who can serve as a range guide you can follow. Samara can be also a little darker than that when she tans.
I am not saying there are not ethnic Greeks who can be slightly darker or even slightly lighter (very rare) but overall don't deviate too much from this. Also men sometimes tend to be a little darker than women.
Nikos Anadiotis here is more or less about as dark tanned as it gets.
You can also go for light skin colour and dark hair colour too.
Eleni Filini.
Nose: We are often portrayed with an Arabic nose or a Roman nose, even though the Greek nose exists! The most common nose is the straight nose, like a perfectly unremarkable triangle. Greek noses can be long, short, tilting up or down but they are usually well defined and have relatively narrow bridges. Of course curved and wide noses exist but they aren't as standard as you see in artwork. French noses might even be more common, especially in women.
Katia Zygouli and Sakis Rouvas both have stronger than average noses, which are however considerd very close to the archetype of classical Greek nose
Facial shape: Overwhelmingly oval and often narrow bone structure. Oblong, round and diamond are next I'd say. Heart, triangle and square shapes are pretty rare. Jaws can be both well defined or underdefined but they are often well defined in men. Cheekbones are usually not pronounced. We occasionally have the butt chin and often something in between, like something that is almost a butt chin but not quite.
Iliana Papageorgiou’s oval facial shape.
Lips: All sorts of lips and mouth sizes really. They are usually medium or slightly towards full but don't go very full or with the upper lip fuller than the lower.
Eyeshape: Almond, round, downturned and hooded eyeshapes. Upturned exist but are rarer I believe.
Body type: All body types exist in abundance but let's not forget the all time classic Mediterranean body type which is the pear shape.
Hairiness: This stereotype is true lol Greek people are hairy, especially men, who are also often bearded.
Greek men can and will grow beards at some point in their life like Sakis Karpas demonstrates here. Of course there are many clean shaven and you can totally go for it, I am just saying that being hairy is indeed a very common trait.
Eyebrows: All types, including relatively thick, arched or angular. Low set eyebrows exist too but they are more uncommon.
Yannis Stankoglou has arched eyebrows.
Height: Short to moderately tall. Kinda like the Americans actually.
Hope this helped you any and hopefully I won’t get called racist for not including someone from an entirely different side of the globe as an accurate ethnic Greek look representative.

October 27, 1948 // Yannis Ritsos
There are so many thorns here – brown thorns, yellow thorns all along the length of the day, even into sleep. When the nights jump the barbed wire they leave tattered strips of skirt behind. The words we once found beautiful faded like an old man’s vest in a trunk like a sunset darkened on the windowpanes. People here walk with their hands in their pockets or might gesture as if swatting a fly that returns again and again to the same place on the rim of an empty glass or just inside a spot as indefinite and persistent as their refusal to acknowledge it.
(translated from the Greek by Karen Emmerich & Edmund Keeley)

Chris McLeod: You see your captain [Matt Maggio] drop the gloves there at the end, is frustration starting to boil over for the Spitfires?
Shane Wright: Yeah. I mean, it's pretty em-- pretty f-- pretty embarrassing out there. Just no effort, no compete from anyone, and it's... just really embarrassing out there from us.
[Video: A white-haired white man in a headset and a suit interviewing a brown-haired young white man in a headset and a red hockey jersey. The jersey has a letter A on it. The hockey player does not look into the camera.]
Oh, man. Context: This was a struggle bus of a game after the previous game was also a struggle bus of a game. The Spitfires had been playing well before they got Shane, and they did even better after. Shane is averaging about 2 points per game and has been getting increasingly aggressive shooting and more comfortable coming in as a dominant forward as opposed to just ("just!") a strong defensive playmaking center.
AND THEN.
The Spitfires' forward group went down to injury after injury, including Shane, who was out for several games with a hurt ankle. By the end of the season, they were playing with seven forwards (a healthy crew is twelve) and one of their D-men was occasionally playing forward. Matt Maggio, team captain, became the first player in the OHL to score 50 goals and 100 points, but Matt and Shane were two of the few healthy guys through the end of the season. Oof.
The intermission interview was painful to watch and included a Shane who did not make eye contact with the camera even once. (He normally does. He also normally smiles. 🥺) This was a moment he really didn't want to have - an arena camera showed him trying to ask to go to the dressing room so he could talk to his team instead of having to go up for an interview when his team needed his support and, um, motivation - but he's also a public face of the team and he did his job as respectfully as he could.
Honestly, what stands out to me here is how much he sounds like Yanni Gourde does when the Kraken are having a bad night due to lack of compete. Shane is a guy who wants to be winning very badly and isn't happy when his team isn't playing up to their potential. (I find myself wondering if this Ontario kid might just have been watching the Leafs all these years and thinking They don't want it enough. When I'm in the NHL, I'll never have that problem. I'm always going to want it more than anybody else.)
Shane can play one more game in the NHL this season and still be eligible for an entry-level slide (meaning the clock doesn't start ticking on the 3 years of his entry-level contract until next season, giving the Kraken another year before he becomes a restricted free agent and they have to extend his contract. This includes the playoffs. Is he NHL-ready? Unclear. But if the Spits exit early, it's not out of the question that the Kraken could call him up for one last game in the regular season, especially if we've clinched a playoff spot by then (we need 9 points, or 2 of the 3 teams still in wild card contention - WPG, CGY, and NSH - to miss out on 9 points, or any combination of us getting AND 2 of 3 missing 9 points, to clinch, so it could happen around the time the first round of the OHL playoffs are over).
This kid is going to be a flaming ball of compete and need to prove himself in training camp next year. Watch out.

Thanks a lot, J! <3
9. favorite smell in the summer?
Have already answered here!
31. what outfit do you wear to kick ass and take names?
For winter: dark blue jeans, black leather boots, and Yannis' flame sweater™ with my silver chain and earrings-crosses and flame ring, for spring: oringe™ coat with everything you call greedy like turtleneck xD and oringe-white converses, for normal summer it's Pidge shirt with my red ornamented kimono and wide trousers with the suspenders, for autumn... idk what that will be, but for the Greek one it's my white jeans overall that gives Davey from Glass Animals vibes and beige shirt and if it's like +25 I'd defo kick assess in my blue-brown pleated mousseline volan transparent dress, just need rather a sword or a earrings-swords and a tooth-necklace lol (for those who wonder how it looks like you might be disapponted but I feel like a medieval warrior in it). If the weather allows it (aka not too cold, not Greek 3 seasons), I'd be wearing my black jumpsuit which is very much about kicking asses and taking names and only I own me-ing.
47. favorite type of cheese?
Seasoned with "nutty taste" (Jon Buckland from Coldplay, no, it was about cheese indeed). I'm obsessed over seasoned cheese, don't judge me anyone, I adore that nuts-caramel (suddenly fruity in some types omg) afterataste of them and honey smell like wtf it's just an old cheese why is it like that??? ANYWAY, obsessed over Leiden Gold Limited 3 years old, idk why I can't google it anywhere else but the shop in my birth city and it's defo NOT a Leyden cheese because it doesn't have cumin... Anyway, here's this legend:
Goes perfectly well with de-alcoholised Merlot, someone shut me up about this rn... I'll never have a life like this...
58. four talents you’re proud of having?
Gosh, I gotta ask you? Idk, tbh... Can we count just @-ing my faves and being bold to talk to any of them irl even when I feel extra nervous and cringe as a talent? If no then maybe... making other people as comfortable as possible, digging information, making some Ps stuff rarely af by now but just for expressing my feelings not like pro or something, discovering some not very well known music and books (by now this talent faded).
#asked#answered#thanks J now after feeling like you know how I want to eat that cheese lol#means I'm alive hopefully

15 Questions 15 Mutuals
i was tagged by @flamingplay and @blueberry-beanie, thank you! i love this little corner of the internet
1. Are you named after anyone? i share my name with an actor, but i'm not named after him. he sure is a useful way to get people to spell my name right though
2. When was the last time you cried? i'm not sure but i have an embarrassing feeling i nearly cried reading a book ostensibly about british sociopolitics recently
3. Do you have kids? [starts screaming This Be The Verse by Philip Larkin so loud it shatters glass]
4. Do you use sarcasm a lot? sometimes? i think? since i stopped injecting linguistics straight into my veins i haven't been as aware of my own speech patterns. definitely less than i used to though
5. What sports do you play/have played? i sort of play a sport as part of my job, but it's quite a niche sport so i will not be telling you what it is
6. What's the first thing you notice about people? no idea, but it won't be their face. i am terrible with faces. i once didn't realise a band had changed drummer because the drummers both had the same first name
7. What's your eye color? light brown, but the sort of orangey brown that matches my hair sometimes.
8. Scary movies or happy endings? happy endings. i read boy parts by eliza clark recently and it was brilliant but i was pissed off that she doesn't become normal at the end. this is my worst trait
9. Any special talents? proficiency with the Wayback Machine. general websleuthing. if you want a thing finding out? i'm your guy. that reminds me, i need to look into something
10. Where were you born? in a hospital in a city in The North Of England. one of the sadder cities
11. What are your hobbies? writing my strange little stories. discussing my strange little stories. playing the sims, posting, now giffing i suppose? getting the bus.
12. Do you have pets? no, but i had two cats as a young child. i also - this will surprise no one - used to take snails out of the garden and put them in (aerated) plastic boxes with some leaves and soil and keep them as pets for a few days before releasing them. somehow i feel like you can tell this from how i blog.
13. How tall are you? 5'3", but 5'6" in the platform doc martens i always wear, so that's my adopted height (i need to believe i could be taller than Yannis. i need to)
14. Favorite subject in school? english language, aka Linguistics Lite (i then did a linguistics degree. well. most of one)
15. Dream job? someone who gains a cult following of fellow fannish weirdgirls* by publishing their own journals and making a mildly successful Channel 4 sitcom based off them
i think anyone i would tag to do this has already been tagged by N and J, so i will leave it at that and say: do this if you want to. i had fun i miss these sorts of things

The Life Wish
by Linda Kage
(The Seven, #3)
Publication date: October 3rd 2024
Genres: Contemporary, New Adult, Romance
Synopsis:
What if you fall in love with a ghost?
After four shots of cinnamon schnapps and something called heaven in a cup, Raina Bollen finally feels brave enough to meet her crush, star quarterback Foster Union.
Except her rideshare is involved in a car accident on the way there. Now she’s stuck in a coma, and her soul gets severed from her body, only to tether itself to none other than Foster himself.
Foster never wanted some random spirit to suddenly start riding shotgun in his life, but it doesn’t take long for Raina’s bubbly infectious personality to win him over. She’s just the breath of fresh air he craves because he’s been in need of some serious living himself.
Now if he could only figure out how to help her live in return.

AUTHOR BIO:
Linda writes romance fiction from YA to adult, contemporary to fantasy. Most Kage stories lean more toward the lighter, sillier side with a couple meaningful moments thrown in. Focuses more on entertainment value and emotional impact.
Published since 2010. Went through a 2-year writing correspondence class in children's literature from The Institute of Children's Literature. Then graduated with a Bachelors in Arts, English with an emphasis in creative fiction writing from Pittsburg State University.
Now she lives with hubby, two daughters, cat Holly, and nine cuckoo clocks in southeast Kansas, USA. Farm girl. Parents were dairy farmers. Was youngest of eight. Big family. Day job as a cataloging library assistant.
Harry Potter House Gryffindor, Patronus White Stallion, character match Hagrid. Supernatural Team Dean. Game of Thrones Team Jon Snow and Tyrion Lannister. The Walking Dead Team Daryl. Outlander Team Jamie Fraser. Teen Wolf Team Stiles. Avenger Team Thor...or Hulk (can't decide). Justice League Team Flash. Arrow Team Stephen Amell. Stranger Things obsessed. Heard Laurel, not Yanny.
Started out reading with the Baby-Sitters Club. Then moved to Sandra Brown, Linda Howard, Julie Garwood, and LaVyrle Spencer in high school. Now all over the place with her romance reading tastes.

I'm one team only except for when I have time to watch international play: I support Team Latvia 🇱🇻
