Female Sociopaths in Popular Media (Part 40)
Go here for Part 1. It provides an explanation for this list. Also, check out the master list which includes analyses of all the included characters.(Some analyses still may not be completed as of yet.) If this is the first part you’ve seen, reblog one of those two posts. Otherwise, feel free to reblog this one.
I won’t be adding many new examples until next year, so for now, I’m just going to work on completing the unfinished examples and moving over some examples to this blog. And if you’ve enjoyed this content and you’re new to this, please share any of the galleries or profiles that are made available publicly.

[1] She is technically genderless as an A.I., but she is mostly referred to by female pronouns and generally considered female. [2] Game in development since 2014.[4] [3] Thanks to an anon for suggesting her. [4] Valid as of early November 2018. [5] Thanks to @color2wheel for suggesting her. [6] Thanks to @rickyotaku for suggesting her.
If you wanna help me, suggest some characters for me to include on the list by leaving a comment on any of the posts, sending an ask, or messaging me. You’ll be credited for helping me when I include them in the gallery post (and it would be highly encouraged if you did it non-anonymously). If you don’t want to be credited, just ask and I’ll leave your name off the post.
Either that or help fact check my profiles on the master list. I haven’t seen a lot of the things that these characters come from, so I don’t have a lot of firsthand knowledge. If you have seen/played/read any of the works that I have included, look through the profiles and see if there are any inaccuracies I need to edit.

Malty/Myne from Shield Hero usually comes to mind for me...though she does hit a couple of snags. She’s not awesome, for one, and you could define her motives as being the result of jealousy. And the version of her in the original web novel probably doesn’t have any real autonomy.
But she’s allowed to be evil. She’s allowed to have her own agency, and will try to murder her little sister in front of the other heroes and will make it out that she’s trying to save her. The series does not try to make her sympathetic, it does not make you feel bad for her. This is a person who, when she died no one felt bad for (again, worse in the web novel).
Like, her backstory is that she is the eldest princess of a matrilineal kingdom. However, due to her father spoiling her rotten due to the trauma of losing his beloved younger sister, her status as crown princess was revoked and was instead granted to her 10 year old sister Melty (whose upbringing was overseen by the Queen). As such, she was looking for any support in order to get her title back.
She gets this from the Church of the Three Heroes, a human supremacist splinter off of the Church of the Four Heroes. When the King decides to break international law and Isekai all four of the Heroes to his Kingdom (rather than various nations summoning one, with the leaders all debating who will summon who at the time of the first episode. It was the Queen playing politics that kept the other nations from waging war on her country), she agrees to join the Shield Hero (who the demihumans worship as a god) when no one else would. She does this in order to lie about the Shield Hero sexually assaulting her.
The Shield Hero would have already faced prejudice in Melromarc due to the influence of the Church of the Three Heroes, but now he has a reputation as a rapist. Meanwhile, Malty latches onto the Spear Hero (who, and I’m not joking here, is basically a stock dating sim protagonist). From there, she makes the Shield Hero out to be evil that the other Heroes must one day defeat. She’s always willing to interfere in competitions to try and screw over the Shield Hero, and sets a forest on fire trying to rescue, I mean, kill her kidnapped sister. Or creating a tax for entering/leaving a town the Spear Hero was given lordship of that would destroy it.
Oh, and then there’s the matter of the Spear Heroes party. His personality drove away all the men and a lot of women who wanted to join him. See, he’s a “feminist” who believed that the girls should not get hurt. He’ll tank and do DPS, while they do things like buff him or attack from a safe distance. He also believes that he has to do nice things for them and they’ll all fall in love with him, as one of his goals even before being killed by two yandere girlfriends was to have a harem. Beyond that, Malty would drive out female party members she didn’t like (aka, women who wanted to train and fight), and in one case even sold one as a sex slaver then told the Spear Hero she simply left the party.
She even killed his pet not-Chocobo when he was trying to raise one to until it evolved into an angel-like form (he has a thing for angels), because he was paying so much attention to it after seeing the Shield Hero having one that looks like his favorite video game character. The whole thing is framed as many of his actions against the Shield Hero were because she’s been telling him lies to make the Shield Hero look like a villain.
Eventually, the Church of the Three Heroes betrays her with it’s Pope wanting to take over the country (and because the Three Heroes they worshipped all were causing problems rather fixing them due to their “I’m in a game” mentality). The Queen shows up to provide support in taking him out, and afterwards puts her daughter and husband on trial. Malty’s crimes are exposed, though the Spear Hero believes this is all an event and he can clear her name, and she’s punished for it. Forced to pay back the extravagant expenses she’s occurred, her name changed to Bitch (her alias as an adventurer changed to Slut), and having a slave crest put on her to keep her in line.
Later on, she eventually betrays the Spear Hero when he’s faced with an opponent that is far more OP than he thought it would be. Claiming he raped her and threatened to kill her father to the Sword Hero (who just had his party wiped),the Spear Hero’s mind breaks. She then robbed the Sword Hero of all his possessions the very next day, leaving a note with an evil laugh written in it, and hooked up with the Bow Hero (whose ego took a beating). The Bow Hero was made to fight in the arena to support her, only for her and his party to bail leaving him with massive debts.
That’s the last of where I am in the story, but I know she hooks up with another villain and is involved in her mother’s death. Eventually, the girl she sold as a sex slave returns and shanks her from behind. Malty’s soul escapes, and is probably now working with the people causing the world ending disaster.
Malty is unsympathetic. She’s cruel, corrupt, downright evil and it all stems from her upbringing as a spoiled child. It would take the mother of all asspulls to redeem her. And the series isn’t interested in it. She’s pure antagonist in a series that tries to address some of the implications of the isekai genre and it’s power fantasy nature, and all this despite initially looking like your typical female lead.
Granted, because of her the series is labelled as misogynistic by places like ANN, and the fandom has these people who ship her with the Shield Hero to try and troll them. There’s even this one fanfic I’ve seen where it tries to make her into an antihero by throwing rewriting the story and throwing god knows how many characters under the bus
Trying to think of my favorite just fucking nuts female characters, but it's a tragically shallow archetype. Dude villains just get to chew scenery more.
Ritsuko in Eva is definitely something, but I don't know that you could call her a villain. She does get to be unapologetically fucked up, though.
I think a couple Final Fantasy villains come close but the most off-the-rails of them was probably Ultimecia, who infamously has no backstory and an arguable amount of personality. Fucking oozes style, though.
Oh, SJ's Zelenin fits, I think, though personally I like her and Jimenez as foils more then Zelenin herself specifically.
Though, one review of SJ Redux says it "let[s] Zelenin and Jimenez achieve their goals without losing sight of their humanity," which feels pretty opposite to the entire game I played and definitely falls into boring "defanged (female) villain" territory instead.
Chiaki can probably go here too, though I still haven't finished Nocturne
