Imo the pacing issue in twc doesn't come from pacing of story itself but pacing of the timeline. Like you're telling me this whole shit went down ONE MONTH after the carnival??? I know Sera said she wants to do a book-per-season but the timeline is just nonsensical

i don't remember her saying she's doing a book per season but that is WILD... i guess it makes sense why it feels like we're literally speedrunning the relationships LMAO i truly think she would've benefitted from adding a longer break between the events – like i know that with the secret being out about the detective's blood supernaturals are attracted to the town where they live, but christ this much is happening in a couple months?

AND YES WHY IS NO ONE MOVING OUT DKMMKDFKMFDK i was just talking to friends about that, and as someone who's from a small southern town, i know how they operate, and like. it's happened in my town before where a kid has gone missing, or someone was k*lled, and it shook up the entire town – and rallied its citizens – and i know for a fact if it continually happened back to back to back, people would flee in droves LMAO also i know this is just fictional, but tbf in small towns people usually make significantly less per year, so i'm sure they're mostly working class families – im wondering just how many of them are like. meticulously saving to get out versus the ones who can't
