i’m super interested in blue sisters so it is now on my tbr! lovely to hear there hasn’t been any veto. i feel like other book clubs are strict on their rules/guidelines and don’t get out of the comfort zone of a specific genre, trope or length

super jealous of you getting the bronze dress! i’d also would’ve loved the purple folklore dress at my show, but i got the blue one which is also pretty nice. and that fearless one you mentioned is my second favorite! the new ones she wore during europe/north america 2.0 were to die for.

the 22 mv was everything i wanted to be when i turned 22. hanging out with friends at the beach and having impromptu pool parties? sounds way too cool to pass up. i haven’t gone back to the end game one in a while but i do think it’s such a breath of fresh air in comparison to the other reputation mvs since it seemed less ‘produced’ in a way? is there a song you would love to get an mv for? even if we’re way past that era to objectively get it

i went to the beach with my friends! (unsure if to say which one in case i accidentally reveal myself) we organized the plane tickets + hotel accommodations in the span of a week after mulling it over for a year. it was super fun and the first time i traveled outside of my state with just friends for over a week. where would you like to travel? would it be a national or international trip?

that breakfast sounds lovely! so cozy. i’ve never tried eggs benedict before, do you have a favorite way of preparing/eating them? and now opposite question, do you have an ideal dinner? (also food + drink)

hey!!! yeah i'm really happy with how chill our book club is, i was nervous going into it because i knew my tastes would probably be quite different from most of the others but it's been really great!

ohh the blue folklore dress is so gorgeous!! and so underrated - i feel like i don't see it talked about very much!

yesss exactly right, i remember watching the 22 video and thinking that's exactly what i wanted my 20s to be like! and then i got the exact same feeling from the end game mv. i think i like them for the exact reason you say - they don't feel as "produced" (even though they obviously still are!). ooh i feel like there are so many songs that could have amazing music videos... i think folklore/evermore could have had some amazing videos and really built up the "worlds" of those albums more! i would love for taylor to lean more into her storytelling and maybe even one day do a concept album with visuals that follow the story of the album

oh that's so fun!!! i hope you had good weather for the beach. there's lots of places in australia that i haven't been to but also lots of international destinations that i want to go to as well! i think at the moment italy is at the top of my bucket list but who knows when i'll get there

haha omg if you like eggs then you should definitely try it! i'm not sure how popular it is where you are but here in aus it's on the menu at basically every cafe. you can't go wrong with a perfectly poached egg and hollandaise sauce is just soooo good. normally i have it with smoked salmon but if you don't like that you can usually also get ham or spinach instead! as for dinners, i'm super basic and love all kinds of pasta!! i love pesto and vodka sauce and mac and cheese... basically all kinds 😄

Hello! I swerved a little because I didn't want to tackle Dickens before Acker, and ended up reading 'Asymmetry' from your book recs. What a book! How novel! It exposed my blind spots to me. I loved it so much! I love innovative literature. Writers like Lisa Halliday inspire me so much! And of course I love your taste in books. Thanks a ton, once again.

OK I LOVE this!! Yesss Asymmetry is an absolute banger. I can’t really say much because I think it’s best to go in blind and I don’t want to spoil it for others but it’s such an underrated novel to come out of the last ten years tbh. Never laughed and cried all on one page like that before. And the end!!!! I feel like it’s like a salad, compared with some books it doesn’t have the spicy exciting flavours or rich textures of other novels, but deep down it has this kind of untouchable fresh quality which is so refreshing and raw and real

If Cats Disappeared From the World is such a sweet quick read, hope you love it xxx

I love it when CGs are casually considerate. They’ll wash blankies/stuffies/bedding so everything is fresh, or they’ll keep a different kind or milk or juice in the fridge that only the little likes, or (in colder weather) will light the fire so the house is toasty warm/(in warmer weather) will open windows or turn on a fan so it’s comfier to nap inside, or will change up bath/bedtime routines to slot in medication or a skincare routine or something that’s a “big task” so they don’t have to age up to handle it themselves. I think a CG thinking about a little even in the routine aspects of life and adjusting things slightly to make them more comfortable is very underrated.

RBB unboxing and rating overal album!!

WWhew my RBB album came today! Ah it looks great, and I even pulled a Seulgi photocard. Yesss my bias wrecker, ah she looks great and her signature with the bear is precious!! 

Not going to lie, when I first heard “Really Bad Boy”, I thought I was in for a Bad Boy sequel but worse. Boy was I wrong, Really Bad Boy is an almost jazzy song. Honestly, its a pretty solid bop with a fresh concept. I don’t know why this era is so underrated, it’s a fun one. 

Anyway, time to review this album! I’m going to rate this album with TIPS, that is to say my in four categories and give it a grade (rating system will be below): 

-Title track: focuses on the concept and music video

-Innovation: focuses on the creativity of the album

-Photobook: includes the styling of the album and rates the pictures within its photobook. 

-Songs: focuses both on the overall song quality of the album and includes the title track and bsides. 

On to the review!!!

Title track: Fun song, fresh concept. I really enjoyed the Halloween concept on this one, hehe The Shining reference with Irene was great. Also, I think this was the era where Yeri got her confidence back. The amount of hate she gets is ridicoulus, but she glows in this comeback and I’m here for it. 7/10

Innovation: As I said before, Red Velvet went from a completely different sound than Bad Boy, and I really appreciated that. This was a really fun comeback, and something that definitely feels Red Velvet. 7.5/10.

Photobook:  I really enjoyed the photobook. Just look that the pictures!! Its well put together, and just pops with color!! This era actually had good styling if we’re excluding Wendy’s slightly odd green outfit and Seulgi’s slicked back hair (I know some people like, but I’m really not a fan). I especially love Yeri’s yellow highlights and every other outfit Wendy is wearing (her makeup is lovleyyyy). 8.5/10.

Songs: While the title track, is pretty solid, I gotta say this album has some of Red Velvet’s best bsides. So Good is amazing and Butterflies is in my top ten Red Velvet songs of all time. However, I am not too keen on Sassy as that thing we’re the members sort of groan (is that how one would describe it) after their lines really gets on my nerves. The chorus is lovely, but I have to skip a lot of the song because the groaning/sighing/moaning thing annoys me a lot. Other than Sassy, the other two songs, the English version of RBB and Tasty are pretty decent. Tasty is a little forgettable and ends a bit abruptly, but I wouldn’t skip it. The English version of RBB is also pretty good as english version go. For the rating of this album, I’d give RBB a 7/10, So Good and Butterflies a 9.5/10, Tasty 5/10, and Sassy 4/10. That averages out to about 7/10. 

Conclusion: When adding all the points up together, this albums gets a 30/40, which averages out to 7.5/10. RBB is a fun concept with great styling and two amazing bsides.
