Apt Li-Xiang La (Xiang Ji Beef Noodle), 411 E Huntington Dr, Ste 101D, Arcadia, CA 91006
Tumblr media
The sign says Xiang Ji but their website says Apt Li-Xiang. I’m confused. Anyway, it’s a casual Taiwanese restaurant that serves beef noodle soup, noodle soups, cold appetizers, dumplings, and stinky tofu.
#3 Braised half tendon, half meat (shank) beef noodles ($15.99) served with green onion, cilantro, pickled vegetables. The broth was dark, slightly sweet with a hint of tomatoes, spicy, garlicky, and beefy. Complex and so flavorful. There were about three big pieces of soft tendon and huge pieces of tender simmered shank. The noodles were flat and medium width wheat noodles. They were soft without much chew. Everything was soft and tender. The serving was generous. Best Taiwanese beef noodle soup that I’ve had in years.
Service was friendly. The interior looked clean and newly remodeled. They have a huge walk-in freezer on the left. Towards the door, there’s a little condiment station.

Media Tasting at The Hungry Caveman
Gather all your lazy friends to the first automated BBQ restaurant in Singapore! Just place your skewers in place and sit back, relax and pig out! In partnership with China’s biggest BBQ chain, The Hungry Caveman has made its way to our tiny country.
Their Signature Lamb and AUS Grain Fed Beef are best-sellers in China, and are not to be missed. However, the chicken and pork skewers are undoubtedly more popular among Singaporeans. For chicken meat, there is a variety of choices such as Chicken Skewer, Chicken Skin and Chicken Mid-Joint Wings. The wings come in many flavours, Cajun, Honey Glazed, Fragrant Garlic, Xiang La, Spicy Ma-La and Extreme Spicy. My personal favourite was the Honey Glazed wings while my plus one preferred the Spicy Ma-La wings that packs a punch with every bite.
You may try the 3 sauces (peanut, dried chili and chili sauce) imported directly from China if you would like to add more flavour into your skewers.
Similarly, the pork skewers also have a wide variety of options such as the Bacon wrapped with Enoki Mushroom Skewer and Pork Belly Skewer. For seafood lovers, you have to try the Spear-The-Salmon Skewer! Every skewer I had was very well marinated and complemented well with its protein. The Hungry Caveman also have Grilled Milk Man Tou, order this for a change from the typical fried/steamed mantou in Singapore!
Talk about inclusivity, they have a delectable range of vegan friendly choices, Oyster Mushroom, Shiitake Mushroom, Grilled Broccoli and Grilled Sweet Corn. I love my greens barbecued and they were flavourful as well, not losing out to their protein skewer counterparts. To balance out a hearty meal, pair it up with the Wang Lao Ji Herbal Tea. I strongly recommend this drink because this ‘liang cha’ actually taste astoundingly good.
The food mentioned above are all skewers and if you’re somehow not a good cook despite it being this easy already, fret not! The restaurant also serves up an array of ready cooked dishes. Such as The Golden Egg Fried Rice, Special Fried Noodles, Century Egg with Marinated Ginger, Grilled Golden Mushroom and The Yummy Garlic Eggplant were so simple yet very delicious. The Stir Fried Clam with Spring Onion had strong spicy, sichuan flavours, uniquely from China.
The Premium Scallop with Garlic Vermicelli and Grilled Giant Squid brought back my memories of the time I was in China, Shenzhen. These dishes were authentic to what I have had and it’s a must try when you visit The Hungry Caveman!
To end of our huge feast, we had Grilled Banana and it was absolutely mind-blowing. It tasted similar to the Goreng Pisang which we’re familiar with, but without the thick layer of flour batter.
All in all, drop by the restaurant to experience Singapore’s first automated barbecue skewers machines and also to savour Chinese food as authentic as those directly from China! (Check out the weekday deals below)

Despite its southern location, Hangzhou is notorious for its frosty winters, and now that the city has officially entered into this chilly season there is only one way to ward off the cold in winter and that’s to sample one of Hangzhou’s famous hot pots. To add some spice to your winter days, then visit any one of the following locations.
 La Fu
If you love spicy food then La Fu is for you. There are two La Fu Restaurants in Hangzhou, one is in Queen Park and the other is in Hefang Street. The fresh spicy fish slices, shrimp paste, beef tripe and duck intestines, as well as the intriguing chopsticks, are what makes La Fu special, and whilst the strong aromas and sizzling flavors will have you in tears you will soon be crying to come back for more.
Address: 3rd Floor, 2 Queen Park, 277 Wulin Road; 29 Gaoyin Street
 Sichuan Xiang Tian Xia
This restaurant offers the famous Sichuan hot pot. It is highly recommended that you try their two-flavor soup base (Mandarin Duck Pot) which is tasty even without any seasoning. Whilst its name suggests otherwise the Mandarin Duck Pot does not, in fact, contain any duck at all but is called as such as to describe the pot being divided into two parts; usually one part for a spicy soup base and the other part for a non-spicy soup base. The Prime Minister Ball, Crispy Flesh and Duck Intestines are exceptionally tasty.
Address: 27-6 Ding’an Road, near Century Mart, the northeast side of Xihu Intime Department Store
 Chao Niu Hai Ji
This hot pot restaurant, always crowded, is a popular choice for both locals and visitors. It is highly recommended that you try their handmade meatballs which are the size of a table tennis ball but don’t fret as the only direction they will be bouncing in, is direct to you. The rice noodles with Satay sauce are also a must-try with the Chaoshan hot pot.
Address: 6 Baifu Road
 Xia Lao Sheng Tang
This is an expensive restaurant with an average spend of 534 RMB per person but the food here well deserves the price as it is ranked the No.1 hot pot place in Hangzhou on Dazhong Dianping, a Chinese gourmet grading website. The Norwegian abalone is rather good.
Address: 58 Changsheng Road
 Yi Xi Di Ji Wo
Yi Xi Di Ji Wo is a chain restaurants brand with many of its branches in Hangzhou. It boasts local flavor chicken soup hot pots with home-raised chicken, black bone chicken, and durian chicken.
Address: 1st Floor Guomao Mansion, 56-3 Hubin Road
Mi Shi Chao Shan Beef Hot Pot
This is another Chaoshan hot pot. Simply place the beef tenderloin into the boiling water for 12 seconds and then dip it into the Satay Sauce and the wonderful taste will fulfill your heart with everlasting happiness.
Address: 166 Huansha Road
King Pot Restaurant - Beijing Hot Pot
The authentic Beijing hot pot restaurant is boiled in a copper pot over a charcoal fire. This is a popular restaurant so be prepared to queue if you turn up late. Mutton hot pot is a favorite and mutton brain, beef brain, beef tripe, double paste and not forgetting the osmanthus syrup of plum, are the best hot pot accompaniments.
Address: inside Hang Si Lian 166, 189 South Jinhua Road
 Hai Di Lao
Hai Di Lao’s good service and quality of food earn it great fame nationwide.
Address: 5th Floor, Jinhe Building 87-1 Qingchun Road
