Heroes of the Storm (2018)
Heroes of the Storm (HotS) is a multiplayer online battle arena video game developed and published by Blizzard Entertainment for Microsoft Windows and macOS that was released on June 2, 2015. The game features heroes from Blizzard's franchises including Warcraft, Diablo, StarCraft, The Lost Vikings, and Overwatch. The game uses both free-to-play and freemium models and is supported by micropayments, which can be used to purchase heroes, visual alterations for the heroes in the game, and mounts. Blizzard does not call the game a "multiplayer online battle arena" or an "action real-time strategy" because they feel it is something different with a broader playstyle; they refer to it as an online "hero brawler".
Gameplay Heroes of the Storm revolves around online 5-versus-5 matches, operated through Blizzard's online gaming service Battle.net. Players can choose from different game modes, which include playing against computer-controlled heroes or other players. Initially, no heroes are available for permanent use; however, players may choose from a list of heroes that are free to use from a weekly rotation. By using gold coins, the in-game currency, or through microtransactions, they can gain permanent access to a hero. As of November 2017, there are currently 74 heroes in the game, divided into four separate roles: Assassin, Warrior, Support, and Specialist. These heroes include one multiclass hero. There are currently 14 maps available to play, all of which have different objectives to secure, with some having different victory conditions.

The Nexus is the setting of Heroes of the Storm. It is a powerful trans-dimensional storm, a strange limbo of clashing universes. Worlds collide from across space, time, and even dimensions.  It operates by its own logic and set of rules; for instance, at least for heroes, death is a but a "temporary setback." Combatants from Azeroth, Sanctuary, and the Koprulu sector have been sucked into it, fated to do battle. New heroes are constantly arriving.

A new animated short is here from Blizzard, and it’s designed to get you excited about buying skins in Heroes of the Storm. We are OK with this crass bit of promotion because the animation is pretty wonderful. You can watch it above. You should do that before moving forward.
The wailing guitar, ridiculous camera moves and complete sensory overload that takes place during the two-minute animation seems like it’s kinda making fun of things like Gundam while also treating what makes anime so great with respect. This sort of “joke” takes craft and love, and the short provides both in equal measure.
Blizzard went to a lot of effort to promote its new “Mecha Storm” skins for Diablo’s Tyrael, Warcraft’s Rehgar and StarCraft’s Abathur, and we appreciate that effort.

"Mechas Vs. Kaijos" is the unofficial name of the futuristic version of Earth that features an ongoing battle between the mecha and kaijo.
The Mechas are sentient fighting machines developed by humanity to combat the Kaijos, as well the mysterious Xenotech.
Kaijo are a race of creatures that apparently had their origin in Tristram Labs, as the city's government utilized nuclear power. These monsters currently plague the continent of Africa, but have some have been sighted at Neo-Stormwind.
