Finding More Happiness Than I Could Ever Imagine in Delhi

I have understood lately how difficult it is to hold a professional job, which requires excellent motivation, teamwork, business acumen, proficiency in income tax, analytical ability, and more. I hardly find time to enjoy myself because of the increasing demands at work. At times, I travel to discuss with my clients on issues of taxation, auditing financial reports, tax planning, and so on.

However, I long to spend time with my friends and on one such opportunity, I could travel to New Delhi to hang out with my friends and visiting some architectural wonders in the city. Fond of train travel, I booked a seat searching for the Jalandhar to Delhi trains on one of the few Indian Railways websites. The Delhi Express, which is scheduled at 4.10 am from Jalandhar City Junction (JUC), connected most of the popular cities such as Ludhiana, Ambala, Saharanpur and New Delhi.

A Train Journey to Remember Forever

Falling under the Northern Railway, the New Delhi Intercity Express offers convenient travel to passengers with 19 halts. Offering mostly AC and non-AC Chair Cars, the train is ideally suitable for travelers on a short trip from Jalandhar to New Delhi. The seats are well-cushioned and offer enough legroom. The compartment is well-facilitated with lights, fans, water bottle holders and hooks to hold bags.

The food supplied by the railway through the pantry car was hot and delicious. The compartment was spacious enough to move around. The toilets were clean and maintained. I reached New Delhi at 1 pm and hurried through the crowd to find a cab to the Xenious IC’s Hotel.

Facilities and Services worth Value for Money>/b>

I had to travel to Jamia Nagar in Okhla to reach the Xenious IC’s Hotel. Built stylishly, the hotel offers contemporary space for any discerning travelers. My room was a Standard Room with a double bed and mattresses, wooden flooring and decent furniture. The other facilities offered were:

Mini bar

Wi-Fi Internet

Tea/Coffee Maker

Doctor on call

As for dining, the hotel has Noorjahan, a multi-cuisine restaurant, offering all types of food.

Getting to Know the Architectural Wonders of Delhi

Being at Delhi, one can never miss visiting some of the attractions like the Lotus Temple, Akshardham, National Gallery of Modern Art, and so on. The first one in my itinerary was the Lotus Temple in Kalkaji. A Baha’i House of Worship, it is renowned for its beautiful Lotus shape, which has free petals made of marble. Open to everyone, I walked through one of the nine doors to enter the central hall. Since there is no denominational representation, anyone can worship God here.

The next day, I visited Akshardham, also called Swaminarayan Mandir. I was stunned by the spiritual atmosphere around. The temple has a stunning architecture made of ferrous metal. There are about 234 beautifully carved pillars and 9 decorative domes, other than 20 quadrangle spires and innumerable statues. I went in to get the view of the garbhagruh, which is the inner sanctum and permitted for entry only to gurus. I offered my prayers before the deity and stayed there for some time and left the place.

Next, I visited the National Gallery of Modern Art, located near the India Gate. The gallery is known for its collections of modern art of about 14000 works. Some of the popular works by artists are Raja Ravi Verma, Rabindranath Tagore, Nandalal Bose, Thomas Daniell, Abanindranath Tagore, and et al.
