🍑  :    how meticulously does my muse look after their physical appearance?  do they spend a lot of time on their hair,  makeup,  grooming,  and clothing?  is there a particular reason why they do or don’t?
saria’s view when it comes to make up in general is “natural” beauty. for any event that doesn’t require her to “dress up,” her “make up” is scarce. it’s just moisturizer and just basic stuff to keep her skin nice and clean. she barely uses foundation or bb cream. never mind the fact she finds that it irritates her skin more, and that she doesn’t like the idea that the ‘natural’ self should be covered with excessive make up as if covering a mistake (a person’s identity).
truthfully, she’s terrible at fixing hair. its why she goes to the battlefield with her hair down all the time. when she has to, it does get put up in a pony tail, but even that can be questionable when she’s not doing it to herself. this is because she doesn’t take account of height differences when she’s doing another person’s hair, and it’ll look like a water fountain on the top of their head. in that same line, she can’t braid hair. she’s both too meticulous and too messy. she’ll never be satisfied with how it looks and it’ll take too much time to put up and take down. never mind the fact she would keep both pony tails and braids tight enough to rouse headaches. so no, she takes good care of hair in terms of brushing and combing normally.
as for her taste in clothing, as mentioned before, it’s horrific. she enjoys comfort over style when it comes down to it, which is why she kept the ugly sports jersey from kazimierz. she unironically enjoys graphic tees with words on them - whether or not they make sense - and bonus points if they’re a joke or a pun related to the sciences (and later, to her unofficial role as a ‘father’ or a parental figure). she is good when it comes to professional clothing - mainly business suits, but generally leaves the style of her uniforms to the engineers and designers of rhine that manufacture them. she’s grown more than fond of the ‘x’ marks on her uniform that it’s become a signature of hers over the years.
as a rule of thumb, when she’s on rhodes island and/or has time to do so, she will care for her appearance appropriately. if she can’t or she’s stuck on a mission a stressful mission, she will not as it would be very low on her priority list. in fact, right before she had a meeting with dr. kal’tsit about joining rhodes, she looked like a mess.
she will always dress the best she possibly can for any important meetings or if there’s someone she’s meant to impress and sticks to formal clothing.
🍇  :    how would my muse describe their childhood?  how much has it impacted the person they are now,  or will become as an adult?  around what age did they or will they start to mature,  and why?  do they wish to go back to their days as a child,  or have they embraced adulthood?
as we have no idea as to saria’s childhood, i’ve left it blank for now. events at rhine ( not just the ‘flame demon incident’ ) and her time as a mercenary have affected her in a way to give her low-key ptsd. so, here’s a few ideas i’ve toyed with in no particular order.
1. she’s a vouivre. perhaps, her age is in the hundreds or so as a mythical creature. she’d long became disillusioned and clung onto these fading ideas of morality and laws of nature to maintain some semblance of sanity prior to meeting mayer, silence, ifrit, and the rest of the rhine family.
2. she’s a child of one of the high ranking members of rhine - whether through adoption or by birth. due to their general apathy towards plenty relationships and morals with an emphasis on studies, she’d grown with a lack of familial attachment which leads to the difficulties she has with others. her argument with the higher echelon of rhine would be more interesting if she were related to them - but it may be too similar to ch’en’s conflict.
3. she’s previously an experiment for rhine turned into something similar to a guardian dog - or wyvern - which would match the idea of a friendly gargoyle, a stone monster with wings designed to protect a place from evil. in addition, it may explain why she has a resistance to oripathy despite being deeply involved with plenty of studies revolving them as well as her briefly mentioned method to “prevent” oripathy.
4. she’s originally a bodyguard who’d been taken under the director of defence as one of their many pupils. they saw her talent as a researcher and encouraged her to pursue it. ( she hadn’t been a doctor prior to then. ) eventually, she gained plenty of accolades in the sciences and accepted becoming their successor. they’d have been the one to teach her morality.
as for how she would describe it, if asked? ‘uneventful.’
but it can be determined that it wasn’t ‘normal’ considering how oblivious she initially was when it came to taking care of a child when it comes to ifrit and her interactions with others. ask her about fairy tales, and she’ll only be able to repeat whatever stories ifrit’s read because that would have been when she’d read them. she manages to understand plenty of slang because of the frankness of her squad back on rhine, other mercenaries, and rhodes island.
🥝  :    does my muse have any  ‘  unusual  ’  habits, interests,  and  /  or talents?  do they hide it,  or are they proud of it?
an unusual habit she’s developed would be how she grasps silence’s feather every now and then or the ring that’s tied with it. she’s surprisingly gentle as she drags her thumb down edge of the feather ( over the barbs ) idly. if someone were to stare at her closely, they’d see how the hyper alert gaze from her eyes ( something she’ll gain in battle, almost as though she’s working on autopilot ) fade away gradually. her breathing settles, and her heart beat slows noticeably to a steady, almost restful rate. when asked about it, her answer will depend on who is asking. if they are not close to her, she will refuse to acknowledged it when questioned about it ( if at all ) and will move on. at the same time, it’s an unconscious act, so she doesn’t hide it.
another unusual habit she has is that she will always buy a present for ifrit whenever she visits a new city. while she doesn’t always give it to the sarkaz child, she always gets them wrapped and kept in her desk drawer to ensure she has something to give the child in case she were to forget a particular event. she doesn’t explain the drawer of presents if asked beyond saying: ‘they’re presents.’
lastly, she enjoys her baths when she is able to take them. after a long mission outside of rhodes island, it’s not surprising to find her indulging in a bath. she’ll go the whole nine yards about it too - scented candles, flowers, and bath oils. yes, it’s not surprising for a certain someone to find her sleeping in the bath after all that work, even long after the water has run cold. while she doesn’t hide it, she makes no effort to make it known either. it’s a private event, and she prefers it that way.
while her mission is her interest, it’s not abnormal. what’s abnormal about her mission is how she handles it. her projected mindmap looks kind of like this. she is obsessed with it, but she’s terribly private about it as if anyone who knows about it will be killed - whether by her or someone else.
an unusual talent she has would be instruments. while she’s able to play a guitar well, she’s also able to pick up a few instruments intuitively. she’s someone who learns best by playing by ear as opposed to learning from books or by watching, and comes up with her own techniques.
