WRITING BUDDY NEEDED ♠

ALL ABOUT ME: (i feel like im back in elementary school as i type this lmao) My name's MJ (she/her), I'm 17, and I've been writing my first wip for maybe three years (idk—i'm horrible with time)! I've always loved getting sucked into ludicrous and enchanting worlds; I'm an expert at being in a room, but lost in an entirely different world I'd created in my mind. Writing has always called out to me, but I've ignored it in the past. But now it's my greatest achievement in life!

ALL ABOUT MY WIP NO. 1: My first ever original wip, TBOY (i'm withholding the full name, because i like surprising people) follows Mayleen and Flynn, who face challenge after challenge in a new world, Mydrae. Both full of indescribable confusion at their puzzling feelings for each other, they hate to find themselves stuck together when an archaic threat haunts the fragile peace Mydrae's fought for the last 213 years.

As an Earth-Dweller who believes his fate lies with betraying Mayleen, Mydrae's Fated Queen, Flynn struggles with the war between his head and heart; to earn favour with his cruel father, he must kill the only person who'd ever seen his bare soul and loved him despite its pitiful intricacies. To follow his heart? He'll have to face those years behind him: the terror that's sunk its claws deep into him despite his hopes of outrunning it.

Mayleen knows where her fate lies—it's all she's heard for the last year. Ever since she became the Merislle, the Queen prophesied with the creation of her home after the Great War, she's bombarded with responsibilities and challenges—both never-ending and resulting in inescapable hurt. She knows she can't go on like this for long, but how can she reach her breaking point when the trials haven't even begun?

Mayleen and Flynn do all they can to stop history from repeating itself. But when Fate calls for sacrifice, who are they to brush it aside?

They're both beyond reason, never allowing people to get close to them. But when you're made for each other, you can't win those wars you swore you'd never fight in.

ALL ABOUT MY PROCESS: I've struggled to stick to goals and edit my wip(s) forever. I've been doing this for a semi-long time, and I'm not sure how to hone in on my writing. I have an idea of what to improve on, but I'm not 100% certain. I'd love for someone to talk to and help with their roadblocks as well!

How do I balance writing with personal life? My writing and personal life is one. I am a writer, simple and true. There are days when my personal life has more to say and do over the writing life but I am always thinking about writing. I can not not write or not think about the next writing project, what I have to do for my work in progress, the next draft, cover design, and, and, and… I love it! There are moments where my writing life has slipped due to personal life and that’s when I get into trouble. The ego and creative life get cranky and I am aware if I don’t get to my writing room or write something then I’m one unhappy being. To avoid this, I write. Writing is the key to my true self. It's wild to me that someday people might read my books outside of the context in which they were written, outside of the myriad of songs, art pieces, textposts, webweavings, and god knows whats that influenced the end work. what do you mean somebody might just pick up Runaways off the shelf, read it in isolation, and never experience it's playlist, its tumblr tag, the meta narrative ramblings I ranted at writerfriends over discord and during sleepovers at 3am?????? all you get is the words on the page at the end? I can't include footnotes with a qr code to the memory of the childhood game I played in my backyard woods with my siblings. the written word is a .zip file of the human experience and its up to me to make sure I encode it right and it's up to you to extrapolate that and at the end of the day marketing is just putting on your silly little hat and dancing for tik tok and going "you wanna see the behind the scenes?????!!!!" and you get two (2) clicks and that scares me a little

Oww thank you for asking about this one! Always had a soft spot for Sypha and Alucard together, whether it's & or / or whatever else.

This one's a Sypha/Alucard oneshot for my dearest bestest writerfriend antiheld, who wanted something like

... but now she just can't deny the physical and emotional attraction. hold on, I'm not done

...and she's usually this badass and snarky 'hittem stupid boys on the head-girl', but now she actually loses some of that swagger, bc she feels intimidated by the whole thing (her feelings, him in this sort of... situation/role??) so yeah what I'm really saying, give me

terrified-but-horny-and-infatuated Sypha with 'uuuh-ftf?-but-yeah-sure-why-not-Adrian, or perhaps he too has started to feel something more for her, hmmmm????

A snippet:

She nears, arms crossed and worrying at her lip with her teeth. His shadow creeps across the moonlit grass and he stands inhumanely still, staring out at the scenery; an apparition, not stark against the night, but one with it.

The chill in the air seeps through her clothing, clings to her skin as Sypha steps closer. She stops when Alucard seems to falter, body trembling before he leans heavily with his shoulder against a tree trunk.  

Sypha stares, wondering whether to approach, or leave him be. 

“Why are you not resting?”

Well, that decides that. His voice also sounds strange, hoarser than she’s used to. “I woke up and you were gone, so I thought…”

His shoulders rise, then fall, and Alucard shakes his head but keeps his peace. They listen to the nightlife buzzing around them, above them. Sypha waits.

I will be sharing Rebekah Palmer's story soon, as well, which was actually the first posted on the blog for this prompt. And mine should hopefully be coming soon. It's been quite a start to the year.
