ok regretevator fandom i know its "canon" that fleshcousins are only sentient and not sapient but when you look at the dialogue of fleshcousins it seems to say the opposite.

fleshcousins can and will react to being referred to negatively

not only in this instance with gnarpy does fleshcousin argue with gnarpy, it also emphasizes words like how someone irritated would. like hello?

chat fleshcousin literally tells lampert to kill himself after being insulted. there is no conversation elsewhere where fleshcousin gets told to kill itself to learn this. also before the threat it tries to insult lampert. thats not a parrot thats a very insulted and very salty creature.

in the first interaction with spud, the fleshcousin seems to be talking to itself and then appears to get irritated when spud is like "wow i could have ended up like you guys"

in the second interaction with spud, it seems to actually correct him and then, to me, appears to do its equivalent of an irritated grunt when spud is like "you're just like a personal diary!!"

the above is more tangentially related but fleshcousin seems to not only be genuinely irritated by unpleasant's existence, but then proceeds to also use language of others that it has learned. i find it interesting that specifically gnarpy and infected are used here, as gnarpy is the one who has the most irritated dialogue to learn from, and infected is the most related to unpleasant

2. it knows how to communicate discomfort/pain

ok i know this sounds weird but trust me. in most animals that can be trained to use words to communicate, it often takes A WHILE for them to accurately use language to mention pain. normally they learn stuff for things like food first.

for this one, the second and third line are my focus. the first one is pretty clear in the distaste for the snowball. however, the third line reveals not only a negative reaction, but trying to joke about it. "kb what is the joke" well you see my non-fleshcousin-brained friend, the joke is [as best translated as possible] "is it already winter?"

the flash beacon is what we're really here for though. not only can it associate bright, painful light to something it already knows, it A: communicates that it hurts and B: is able to recognize that you control it and asks you to stop hurting it

the reason why that is Huge is that most animals don't as for you to stop. they either run away or fight. when they ask for things to stop, most commonly its with another animal in the same species with their (body) language.

fleshcousin asks for you to stop in YOUR language!! thats huge!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

this one might be a stretch but i think this idle is referencing folly's forest, the "barn" being the forest and "the wrongs" referencing how closely related folly's deal is to malice

when you look at its folly interactions it seems VERY interested in folly

the mess, the doc, the WHAT THE FUCK, and the miser

with bive i sorta based them off of the principal from tawog (mr brown?? its been a while since i watched it D:) and made them this whole "pile of hair kept up and shaped by a trench coat" look..

i also made said trench coat stained. stained by what? you decide, it's all up to your interpretation. blood, sweat, food, anything

they even have their watch that tells the real time! wow!!!

drretro was the design i had in mind from the start however. i gave her a limited color pallette to kind of be a homage to her.. last name?? i think???

speaking of retro she was intentionally squished down to kind of come off as that "SO RETRO" art trend. think of like fnaf minigame pixel art. bunch of squares that are SUPPOSEDLY made to look old.. just with more detail and more color.

her hand however, is made 100% up from her lasers

folly is.. huger.. to say the least.. i kinda wanted to base her off of nightmare animatronics and ended up making her this big unintentionally.. then i liked how it looked so i went with it.

this also included: the stomach maw! nightmare fredbear galore

her mask is also very noticably tattered. the cleave really did a number on it.. also has a large tail. like.. large large tail

pest is the one i kind of said "fuck it we ball" with.. and tbh its not that bad?? it couldve easily been worse

i gave him a kemono becaus i kinda just.. wanted to. i still wanted to keep his guest appearance, so i did add the hirigana and his guest number, 1314 also he has a snout. same thing as the kemono

he also doesnt have eye shadow, rather, that would be his exoskeleton.. he's still a beetle after all!!!!

he has this huge like.. sack of metal and potentially money on his back. don't think about touching it if you do he'll make you into thanksgiving dinner and hide you in the turkey stuffing

thats about it.. next designs should hopefully be MR, split, and lampert (and maybe unpleasant but just remember that i said maybe its not 100% confirmed that he's coming this soon)

not trying to be rude I’ve just noticed that some of the Regretevator artists don’t really like the game and just do it for the characters

I used to play a lot of it but i got pretty bored of it

i was thinking about the npcs that enter the elevator and how their phones would look

oddly specific but bored at work creates interesting scenarios

bive: shitty flip phone with split's phone number on it (nothing else, shes too paranoid), she also has an antique radio for other stuff)

dr retro: a smartphone a couple generations behind, very sleek and simple, has a ton of medical related apps

fleshcousin: mimics whoevers, like it would normally do

gnarpy: actually yes a human phone, xe altered it to make it "more useful." ... the phone belonged to someone named frank, i wonder who that is ;)

infected/kasper: a blackberry phone that has that slidey keyboard, has a lot of stickers and keychains on the case

lampert: a hand-me-down from Wallter, it has a couple crappy mobile games and has wallter and mark's numbers as emergency contacts, its always clean and he always has a screen cleaning kit with him

mark: android phone with a super protective case on it, is still cracked asf tho (how does it still function??)

poob: average smartphone that is decorated with puffy stickers, charms, keychains, etc. the notification noises are party horns and the happy birthday song

pest: also average smartphone, couple cracks here and there on accident, he used the widgets to decorate their home screen with a bunch of lady gaga stuff. its all black apart from the rainbow sticker poob put on it, doordash always the most used app

pilby: pear phone from the icarly universe cuz why not, they have a lot of zen coloring apps on it

split: its a normal smartphone with a comically sized banana case, everything in it is related to bananas, her home screen is a picture of her and bive on a date

spud: he lost his phone when he was abducted by the gnarpians

wallter: apple phone (wow more stuff for them to argue about), very gray and bland just like he is, all the settings are still the default

Because of epidemia, what was appearing on Gnars. The main things were:

-Tiredness

-Hallucinations

-The purple spots appeared on gnarpians, and cryatals started growing from them

—(IDK HOW TO NAME IT but) antennas and other glowing parts changed to purple (PINK OR SM LIKE THIS ok??)

So, Glerpy made tests on himself and like is half infected, because of vaccine failure. But the infection ist spreading. Anyways, the vaccine was invented (not by his group of scientists), and many lives saved.

1983-06-23 NYT mentions the PAD/D show under a column titled "A GALLERY SCENE THAT PIONEERS IN NEW TERRITORIES" and calls it:

an elaborate socio-political roundup - produced by Political Art Documentation/Distribution - of work by artists protesting neighborhood upgrading that sacrifices low-cost housing and its occupants.

For the event organizers, this article prompted soul-searching and fears of cooptation. Janet Koenig joked they had accidentally created "SoHo’s Off-Off West Broadway"

1989-12-18 Newsday article mentions Groundwork:

Elsewhere, 28 artists are making a political statement about a nuclear-free city harbor in an exhibition called "Groundwork: The Anti-Nuke-port Stencil Project." Images stenciled on streets throughout the five boroughs express the artists' opposition to the navy base being built on Staten Island, which will serve as home port for the USS Iowa and other ships capable of carrying nuclear weapons. Weekly Market Recap Jan 20, 2019

After entering the week quite overbought, indexes took a small retreat Monday before hurling back upwards.  This is typical of the “V” shaped moves up after any significant selloff, we’ve seen most of the past decade and watching them unfurl is quite amazing actually.  Thought maybe this time would be “different” but not so much.  So two week’s ago we asked “Has the Fed solved all the market’s problem in 1 speech?” – and thus far the market has answered resoundingly yes.  The word of the year thus far in 2019 is “patience” as that simple insert into a speech change the whole complexion of everything.

China has also been busy stimulating; on Tuesday:

An announcement from the People’s Bank of China that it would increase efforts to spur their economy by improving credit availability for smaller companies and a pledge by the Chinese Ministry of Finance to cut taxes and ramp up infrastructure spending helped to buoy market sentiment.  The comments come a day after China’s trade data came in weaker than expected, underlining worries that the country’s economy was locked in a downturn that could weigh on global expansion amid a protracted tariff spat between China and the U.S.

Thursday, the Wall Street Journal reported that the Trump administration was debating whether to ease tariffs on Chinese imports in a bid to calm markets.  Meanwhile Friday, a Bloomberg report said that Chinese officials have offered to increase imports from the U.S. by $1 trillion over the next six years, a plan that would reportedly bring the U.S. trade deficit with China to zero by 2024.

Not too much on the economic front but it is worth noting the Beige Book for anecdotal commentary:

The Beige Book showed eight out of 12 Federal Reserve districts reporting modest to moderate growth. However, the degree of optimism appears to be waning, in part due to financial-market volatility and rising interest rates.   On prices, “most” districts reported firms were seeing rising input costs, but said firms were “mixed” on whether they could pass these higher costs to customers. High tariffs were seen as one factor in increased expenses, along with higher prices for materials and freight.

For the week the S&P 500 gained 2.9% and the NASDAQ 2.7%.

Is that an inverse head and shoulders formation on the oil chart?

Earnings kicks into gear.  Regurgitating the thought of the prior recap: “We enter the week extremely overbought”.

Index charts:

Short term: No matter how many times you see it, when these 180 degree turns happen in the market, they can take the breath away.

Another very good week for the Russell 2000 – so far 2019 has been excellent for this index which suffered in 2018.

Small capitalization stocks had a miserable final four months of 2018, with the small cap oriented Russell 2000 index falling 27% from its Aug. 31 high to its nadir on Dec. 24, more than doubling the losses produced by the S&P 500 index over the same period.

This chart is startling – rarely do you ever see the the NYSE McClellan Oscillator over 70 for a day; currently it’s been sustained over that level for over a week.  For 70, this is an extended run in the 100s.  Wow.  Here is a 3 year NYMO chart to show how rare this is – last time we can see any action of a similar sort it was 2016.

Long term: The “V” is on…

PG&E Corp (PCG) was in last week’s recap, and we’ll repost it this week as it tumbled 52% Monday after the gas and electric company said it plans to file for bankruptcy on or about Jan. 29.

Gannett (GCI) rallied 21% after private equity firm MNG announced an unsolicited bid to buy the owner of USA Today, valuing the company at $1.4 billion.

Netflix (NFLX) jumped 6% Tuesday after the video streaming company said it would raise U.S. prices by 13% to 18%, the biggest rise since launching its streaming service 12 years ago.

Blue Apron Holdings (APRN) surged by more than 45% Tuesday after the meal kit company predicted it would reach profitability on an adjusted-Ebitda basis in the first quarter and full year 2019.

Bank of America (BAC) gained 7.2% Wednesday after the bank reported revenue and profitabove average analysts’ estimates.  Similar spike for Goldman Sachs (GS).

Sears Holdings (SHLDQ) soared 56% Wednesday after Chairman Eddie Lampert prevailed in a bankruptcy auction for the struggling department store chain with an improved takeover bid of roughly $5.2 billion, according to reports.

Tesla (TSLA) slumped 13% Friday after the company announced job cuts and warned on profits.
