i don't really believe in any sort of higher power or karma or anything like that, but there is something poetic about me thinking myself into an upset spiral and feeling very alone, and just as i've gotten to the breaking point of crying, i get a random "i love you" text from my partner while they're out at a tabletop session. thank you universe, i needed that

Only two weeks in, but it's been a busy month so far. First to note-- Edwardian Ball! Despite losing my phone for nearly the entirety of Friday night (safely recovered at the last minute on my way out!), I had a wonderful time again this year!

Sadly not as many sketches as I'd like for the first night (lost-phone stress), but am pleased that I could lay down some ink on the second night, especially since it was the "Founders Farewell" 😢 Twas Rosin Coven's last time headlining/performing at the Ball apparently and I definitely got a touch teary eyed at the end of their set on Saturday night. As mentioned last year, I've been attending and sketching since 2008. Captured a number of the band members this year (5 of 8?), warming up as I went.

Will definitely miss them and a number of the classic tunes they play every year, but also understand that not everything is forever. Fingers crossed I see some of them in the years to come as they pursue future projects. Speaking of which-- was delighted to see/hear Robin Coomer on Friday, who I immediately recognized from her Loop!Station days.

And to remember that new and good things are still around-- I caught the John Brothers Piano Company early on Saturday night and LOVED the performance! Amazing energy! Got to fan girl briefly at clarinet/piano fellow at the end of the night and look forward to catching their next show March 17th (Saint Patrick's Day) at the Ivy Room in Albany, CA!

Can I ask what working with Kristian Bruun was like? I've just been seeing a lot of him lately and judging by his performance in TAA and TBS he seems very funny

oh man, Kristian is the BEST. I was a big fan of his work in Orphan Black and then, serendipitously, he ended up in Passenger List! we had a very short session for that podcast, but he was so nice and, of course, very talented, that I knew I wanted to work with him again. and I was SO happy that he said yes to play Oliver!

I will say, casting those central roles for The AM Archives was terrrrrifying, because we had such an established chemistry in our cast. adding new elements to that can be tough! I was in a production of Spring Awakening with Bryce (Mags), so knew how we worked together, I had directed Kristian before, and I knew Helen through friends, but there were so many unknowns! and boy, did we get lucky. everyone - Bryce, Dion, Diana, Helen, Kristian - fit in so seamlessly and really gelled with the existing cast we had.

Kristian is very funny and extremely playful as an actor, which Andrew Nowak is too. that was one of those unknown elements that sprung up and was a total delight--the chemistry with the two of them! there hadn't been any plans to continue Oliver's story in The College Tapes, but after watching him and Andrew together, all of us were like "oh yeah, okay, let's do more of this".

Today I:

-had a veryyyy smooth 9 hour drive back to Virginia thank goodness. I’ve never driven to E’s parents’ place from Ohio before, just to mine outside dc, and this more southern route was way better.

-listened to 2/3 of an audiobook on my Libby app. First time using it!

-got good news about my father in law’s health.

-am going to pass out early hopefully bc woof I am exhaustedddd.

Howdy, everyone! I looked up the circumstances surrounding this movie online and found out that it wasn’t actually cancelled. It’s currently available to buy on pretty much every video rental platform (Amazon, Fandango, Apple TV, etc.).

Basic Timeline:

- March 2023: Rumors (such as the tweet above) circulate online about its cancellation. Full movie is subsequently leaked.

-July 26 2023: Movie trailer announcement on Warner Bros. Entertainment twitter account.

-July 27, 2024: Movie trailer released on the Warner Bros. Entertainment YouTube account. If you’re curious, here it is!

- September/October 2023: Movie released digitally then physically (DVD) for purchase.

It is not currently available to stream on Max (at least, it’s not for my USA peeps), but it was apparently available on there at some point before/after December 2023. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find out /exactly/ when it was removed or added, but as Max regularly rotates their stock, I’m not too surprised it was (I did, however, find out that it had been in production since at least 2021, and that it had a briefly leaked release date of November 2, 2021, though, so that’s fun).

This all said, I wouldn’t put it past Warner Bros. Animation/DC Studios (the production companies of the movie, with Warner Bros. Home Entertainment being the distributor) to have only released the movie because of the negative backlash they received. After all, the trailer tease came out /after/ the rumors, and HBO (which is owned by Warner Bros Discovery), has a rather damning history with cancelling shows. That’s just my personal opinion, though, and definitely not backed up by fact.

TLDR— The movie wasn’t cancelled, and is currently available to buy.

So apparently another whole ass animated scooby doo movie was canceled, this time featuring Krypto the Superdog, but it leaked onto 4chan and was uploaded onto the internet archive
