it’s time for ~a year in review~

JANUARY

ya bitch went to paris and became like good, like REALLY good friends with my current roommates!!! we got to see some really beautiful sights, do some STRANGE things like watch a french indie movie and get fucked up at a french gay party club in the basement of our hostel. i apparently shaved my head again (per the use lets be real)

FEBRUARY

accidentally started my Com capstone like a total moron but took it like a mf champ. got to party at a friends place and watch all of “dont hug me im scared”. made a friend try a grap for the first time (he was a sophomore in college). studied a lot with kelli -- and by studying i mean we mostly bullied each other. WENT TO SEE WATSKY with a super dope friend (sad we fell out of touch but she’s living her best life and im happy for her). also like got to meet george watsky uhm WHAT wild. bullied my college in the snow and also manically shoveled the walk. was a bootlicker for the college and dressed in a taco suit

MARCH

WOOF i got pretty fucked up for capstones cast party and this is where the beginning of the end was for some of my friendships. however, other friendships were being built so im grateful for that. ran lights for a really awesome slam poet. FOUND THE KEY THAT WAS MISSING FROM THE THEATRE (turns out it was Sab whoops). spent a lot of time with someone who is no longer a friend -- her choice, certainly not mine. went home for spring break and took so many pictures of my cat. got selected as stage manager for comedy of errors which was a nightmare of a production but certainly not the worst.

APRIL

became a vegetarian!!!! joined/started the flat earth cult because of comedy. helped randi film her weird videos, which was so much fun! the bat came back to the theatre and Basil and I both saw them. comedy of errors opened and it was intense and i really hated every second. ranted about being in a scene for directing, which means i’d been in it for a second. that shit sucked bros oh my god????? he was never on time, he was so disorganized and didn’t understand his own character. organized a dinner for the cast because they had missed a campus dinner for the show. celebrated my best friends birthday!!!! “I can read!” was on the news with two others for comedy. also presented my capstone research for academic showcase day (i still can’t believe people listened to me rant about birth order)

MAY

more videos! this one was zak bagel bites with again my best friends. was elected president for APO and i couldn’t be more grateful. did a research proposal with a friend and i cannot BELIEVE we’re still friends after it because we really could have killed each other. physically fought the MONSTER that is jess (didn’t actually, really should have). helped two friends fall in love on accident/purpose. was elected as KPY president (damn) and forcibly elected as parliamentarian for LPH. ended my junior year. started work immediately after going home for my dad. mostly answered phones, worked 7:30-5 every day for the whole summer yikes. managed to pass junior year with a 4.0!!!

JUNE

learned a lil how to quote and did NOT enjoy it. went to PRIDE with my wife and bought my first ace flag. it was actually petrifying to buy and wear, but i have one now which is awesome. holy shit got my first tattoo!!! it has faded a bit now but still looked awesome. it was the beginning of an addiction. picked up an internship at my old theatre company and... deeply regretted it as it pushed my 12 hour days to almost 18 hours. literally fell in love with the music director.

JULY

a random woman complimented me??? so that was fun. watched after my old band directors kids (they were a nightmare i literally never want kids). got to hike and do all that fun stuff. went to the local county fair

AUGUST

my mom admitted to loving brooke more than me on her birthday (fair). got a card from my office team to celebrate my 21st a lil early. went back for SENIOR YEAR BOYS. got drunk at an old friends place. did marching band. moved in with two of my BEST FRIENDS IN THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD. took improv with friends which was lit. we even did a whole performance. met a new friend! my other roommate brought in a new kitten (which became a whole thing holy shit). used school sanctioned ipads to dick around. shaved my head againnnn. was sober at a party (woof why). got the drunkest i have ever been and puked everywhere and passed out on the stairs. have not ever reached that level again. also cracked my phone. fully assumed position as president of two clubs. started rhetoric (yucky) and theatre and diversity (also ick but for different reasons)

SEPTEMBER

became NOT sober literally the next day nice. started the MASH group i think??? which is like the only thing im proud of. it was around here. had to pick up a friend whos car broke down. went to pride in a local town with friends!!! that was fun. turned 21!! couldn’t celebrate bc school and stage management, but my two roommates still made sure i had a good time. marching band boys! we did a LONG ASS parade with my cute lil section. did mixers for KPY and APO! had our first football game. held a band rehearsal in the dark because the lights didn’t work which was funny and SO weird. walked to the trains with some really awesome friends. broke into the cemetery and stole a traffic cone and put it on a statue on campus bc mania. went to a friends musical career takeoff and ran her merch table bc the person who was supposed to run it showed up almost an hour late. someone showed up at the lib while i was closing with a friend asking for a place to stay. i hope hes good now. tried omegle again for whatever reason. tried to go to a local diner and was DENIED bc they went from 24 hours to closing at 10pm so i had a mental breakdown in my car at 2am in a McDonalds parking lot. FINALLY got to celebrate my birthday and go to the bars!!! well bar singular. but had a really good time even if those people aren’t really my friends any more

OCTOBER

homecoming boysssss!!!! also ace pride. worked the WORST thing I have ever had to operate in the chapel but the people were nice about it so i was kinda okay. also got to be a part of the dopest percussion show and ran lights and sound for it. rhetoric ended thank christ and i never want to talk about anti-war messages in MASH ever again. finally learned that my best friend has a partner and was ECSTATIC. worked a haunted house which literally sucked so hard but we made bank on it so im okay with it. were robbed (i still have suspicions who did it but ill keep my mouth shut). dressed up as a newsie for halloween, and my roommates and i all took pictures which was awesome. started my internship and movement and stage

NOVEMBER

LAST FOOTBALL GAME got drunk too often probably lol. got an impulse tattoo with my roommates. went to a soccer game. went to the trains drunk and also olive garden. did trauma training so i got to act hysterical (act?). did some KPY bonding. had a hella long saturday with a concert and everything. shot my shot and MISSED. did greek thanksgiving. played DD for someones birthday bc expired license. got my NEW license. had a horrible time driving to and from thanksgiving break. got to hang with my WIFE

DECEMBER

made it home somehow?? did box office for the children’s show as well as publicity which was a lot of work tbh. went on a double date with my roommates and their partner. did the filming for the college christmas card. had an awesome party at our place and i regret nothing. celebrated the moving out of our 4th roommate. worked my last gig at the museum. managed to scrape by again with a 4.0. threw a great party at my place for like 5 days straight (jesus christ). did a horrible puzzle. tried an edible (suffered for it). hiked in the mountains a lil. caught up with high school friends by drinking which was AWESOME. saw Frozen 2. went out with my fam bam. had a great christmas. also threw a new years party (what??? that just got over) and felt like a pretty good hostess (i just provided alcohol lol but it worked) and got to catch up with some great great awesome friends and keep people safe and off the roads for new years.

all in all a damn good year. its crazy how quickly things change, but im grateful for the place that i am in. can’t wait to graduate this year and see what happens next!!!

Here we go, 2020!

2019 .. like any other year, was riddled with both good and bad experiences. So I guess it would be nice to go through it one at a time or we'll see what I can write...

• January - I can't really remember anything significant for this month. All I remember is trauma for some reason because this month made an impact to me in the worst possible way. There was so much going on transitioning to February that it felt like this month could've been better if work can be "normal" but that was never the case for 2019.

• February - Shtty as fvck. I said a couple of goodbyes to good people. It started in January but February was just unbearable. The start of 2019 wasn't the best, huh? Funny though how I still managed to eff it all up in the latter part of the year.

• March - BUSY. I did get to travel to Davao this month. And I did spend a couple of weeks with new people. I enjoyed that part the best. The new faces and friends I made in 2019 are for keeps. They're genuinely kind-hearted and just overall nice. I also picked up a new hobby this month.

• April - And the hobby officially started with the purchase of my first ever fountain pen. Thanks to a certain someone for introducing that world to me but I wouldn't go into detail with this one because I don't want to discuss the bs that transpired with this hobby 😅

• May is a blur. Nothing special happened, I guess? Just bagged a few more FPs. And I guess I knew at this point that work was becoming more and more insufferable. More good people wasted by the effed up bureaucracy. Although we did receive a new family member in a form of a puppy who we lovingly call Minnie. She's huge, by the way. Very. Not in any way synonymous to her name. I also travelled to Cebu for the first time ever.

• June - I think I went to Laoag for the first time, too... It was also the beginning of my public speaking engagements for our office. Which is both a blessing and a curse, I guess. I don't really know which one I'm more inclined to. Did one life changing activity which almost killed me lol - we rode an extreme 4x4 ride in the Paoay Sand Dunes. I went to Cebu for the second time and this extended until July.

• July - Travelled a lot. Both for work and leisure. This was my second time in Ilocos (travelled solo for this trip). Actually, I went to two provinces this month but both were for work: Dagupan and Cabanatuan. I bonded with good people. And I turned 23, too. However, it was the start of the worst for me. Ever. Although I did experience whale shark watching and snorkeling. Both good things. And both my first. I guess it is worth to note that I got promoted this month as well.

• August - Went to Boracay. Enjoyed it, I guess? Helmet diving was the third most extreme thing I did for the year. But this month was also when I realized how sad and lost I am. I was supposed to be working on my Master's degree but that did not pan out because as usual, the motherfvckr work I have is just... it consumed me in the worst possible way ever. I gave in to my demons and I guess I just relapsed on myself. I also travelled once for work: Nueva Ecija.

• September - I got to go to Puerto Princesa, Palawan. It was fun especially since we got to visit the PP Underground River, which was an extreme experience for me as well because I am claustrophobic. Also, the overall experience would've been better if I was there for travel and not to work, you know? Plus, I went to Pampanga for work, too. Got very sick which continued on until the next month. Still felt dead inside. I was cruisin' through my days like a robot. Constantly tired of myself and the people around me. What a happy year.

• October - Sht got real. Went to Bataan for work again. Attended a couple of technical trainings, as required. And was rushed to the ER for the first time in my life - mostly because I neglected the pain I felt and just kept everything to myself. Also proved how high my pain tolerance is, despite what my Mom says (that I'm weak to physical pain). Start of the busiest months for the office. Anyways, I got my passport this month. And 4/5 of the fam got to visit Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (my first international travel).

• November - More trainings! Stressful af. All I can remember is how tired I was for the entire year. I needed to continue my maintenance meds. It actually started in October but I made sure I did take it everyday again. Overall, I was just really on autopilot mode for the 4th quarter of the year. So much has happened with me and the people around me that it literally felt like I was drowning everyday - as soon as I wake up, I just felt horrible every single damn time. Scared myself to bits with my own thoughts so it did help that I was extremely busy with work or I might have done something that would hurt a lot of people.

• December - An attempt to make 2019 better even if it's the last month. I started using my CPAP machine again. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar in Bataan. We had a Gala/Awards Night for our Year-end activity. Got to wear a gown for that. This month was, by far, the BUSIEST I've ever been. I was never at my desk because I was always assigned to go somewhere outside the office for work. Glad I had more offsets that anybody can ever use because I got to enjoy my Holidays earlier. I also visited a previous employer who I love to bits. And finally, I got to visit Bohol (and Cebu for the third time haha) - which is the first time the family celebrated a new year while travelling (only 4/5 of the fam got to join).

Since I kinda just glossed over the moments I had, let me discuss a few and perhaps do a listicle while I'm at it.

Most extreme things I did:

1. Rode a 4x4 in extreme mode. Almost died because I was not able to hold on tightly but I'm glad it was when we were already by the end of the ride.

2. Whale Shark Watching in Oslob. I don't really know how to swim. Well, I kinda do. But it was scary to swim in an actual sea. I also did snorkeling for the first time and it was fun as hell.

3. Helmet Diving in Boracay. We were submerged at 30ft underwater. Again, I'm not really confident with my swimming skills. I almost did not do it but I'm glad I did because I got to overcome a bit of one of my greatest fears- drowning.

4. Puerto Princesa Underground River Tour. Most magical experience ever but was also hella scary because of how low some parts of the cave can go and how dark it was. Still happy I got through it though.

There are quite a few things I wish I could've done differently but I'm still very glad I survived 2019. It may be the worst year for me but I'm learning to appreciate the learnings that came along every struggle. I believe there's still good in this world. And that I can become whole again.

Despite everything, I am hopeful that 2020 is when I get to make MYSELF proud of WHO I AM. I am hopeful that 2020 is when I relearn how to LOVE MYSELF unconditionally, with all my flaws and insecurities. I am hopeful I can be WHO I WANT TO BE in spite of anything that will come my way. I just want to be better overall. Healthier, too. And happier, of course.

But this time, I want to do things differently, slowly, but more passionately. I will no longer force myself into being nice to certain people when all they ever do is use me for their own benefit. I wil no longer make myself available to everyone who says they need me. Because not all them actually NEEDS me. They just want me for a brief moment, as an alternate, an option for when their closest friend/s are unavailable.

2020 is when I DETOX. It is when I get a second chance at the life I wanted to pursue. I will no longer impose impossible standards for myself and for other people. I just want to LOVE. And I want to actually try LOVE.

I know I'm setting up an ideal life for 2020 and I am aware of the consequences of false positivity. But I am HOPEFUL and I'm finally seeing the significance of FAITH in one's life. There is still a chance for growth and prosperity on my part. I just have to try.

2019

January: pretty sure this is when josh slid in da dms lol. Ya know I really liked him at first but my friends were right, he was a crackhead. Honestly January was a chill month overall a 10/10 time

February: I went to my first dance competition! I remember Sierra stepped in my streamer and it fell so after I went and cried my eyeballs out to my dad. Then he started laughing at me so I cried more. Overall it was so fun and I got so close to my team. I love each and every one of them with my whole entire heart, my sweet little babies. This was the month I found out Angel had a girlfriend and my heart was shattered but then I got over it because let be real, nothing was ever gonna happen.

March: this month was tryouts for team for 2019/2020 and it was a crazy time ! Rocket face was still on the team and even at tryouts she was causing problems smh. Anyways I LOVE the people on the team this year so it’s all good now. This month I also got my first job at the zoo. I was just excited to make money because we all know I have a shopping problem. Anyways I hated it so much and being in the heat. I also got high for the first time ever this month hahaha. I took an edible and then shared it with some people on the team. All I remember is trying to put in eye drops but I kept falling over so Maesia had to do it for me and at practice that day coach made changes but the next day I did not remember lol. Also had the last competition of the season at sea world

April: we were in the night parade in April which was so fun! I seriously love dance with my whole entire heart guys. Also cried this month because I realized Steven, Milton, Matt and Jesus are all going to leave me one day and they’re all my besties. Love the gang

May: We had our spring show where I had my first solo ever. Looking back on it it really wasn’t that good but that’s okay still glad I did it. In May my sweet baby love Abri had her 4th birthday party which was Selena theme. I love her with my whole entire heart and would do absolutely anything for her ! She is the light of my life and feel so blessed that’s she wants to be like me. Christian also had his first birthday in May ! The theme was the office and it was amazing. I love little Renee he’s the sweetest boy ! This month I made the worst decision ever and cut my one bangs and that’s all I’m gonna day about that.

June: summer started and I lived my best life and things got uhhh crazy/ confusing basically. I texted Angel every day of the summer. We all know I’ve always liked him but he got a girlfriend so I pushed it away, well he started flirting with me this month. Little did I know this was gonna last for like 4 months. This month was office camp which was so long but fun. We learned all our routines and I got an award for high kick and other stuff so yea I was proud of myself.

July: the beginning of July I saw cuco with faith and Jocelynn! You guys it was so fun and even ran into josh there, no hard feelings though. Anyways it was a great time and I’m so glad I went with faith and Jocelynn wouldn’t have wanted to experience that with anyone else. Then at the end of the month I went to go see Shawn Mendes. I have had those tickets since last Christmas so the fact that it was finally happening:) I have been in love with him since magcon okay y’all. I went with Ariana and Laney and it was an amazing time. Angel was still out here telling me all the sweetest things and like the fool I am, believed it. Also I still worked at the zoo so tragic. I kinda loved July was literally having the best time.

August: senior season started y’all. This month was pretty chill it mainly consisted of getting ready for football season and y’all already know I was ready to support my #40 lol. This whole month my little heart was filled with butterflies. Also the 3rd day of school I had a full on melt down bc they wouldn’t take me out of AP gov and I wanted out because I knew it was gonna be a huge struggle for me. I was right. So shoutout Edison for that disservice. I also found out I had a class with Angel’s girlfriend and for like a month and a half I couldn’t even look at her without feeling sick because well her boyfriend was basically cheating on her with um me. Angel and I have never done anything it’s all just talk and I would never allow anything between us to happen while he’s in a relationship.

September: this month I quit the zoo !!! I hated it there it was just not for me. So now I’m unemployed and I miss working because I miss having my own money since I have a shopping problem. This month Norma and Matt got married!! I love them, my second family. Now this month I was really really really in love or whatever with Angel. I knew it was wrong to be flirting with with one another and listen to all the things he would say “ I’m gonna marry you, have my kids” etc. but he’s the first guy I’ve liked since Michael so it was hard to walk away.

October: I loved this month it was nothing but amazing! I went to mala with my friends which was so fun. The food from that one truck “rice rice baby” was so good and I miss it so much :( I turned 18 and honestly bless up because I’ve had lots more freedom actually. I also saw post Malone with Lizzy, my bff since we were 3. I’m so in love with post Malone it was great. Anyways overall October was great.

November:football season ended this month and it made me so sad. I’m a senior and it’s like my last everything this year like I really had my last football season. Football season is always the best time of year because I love my team so much and we have so much fun with each other. The about of memories I’ve made with my team is so many because they crack me up my little babies. I also had a little party for my birthday and it was nice just being with my friends.

December: I recently was told some stuff that opened my eyes to a situation I’ve been in for months, since the summer. It made me happy and really sad all at the same time but now I’m not even sad, I can only grow from this experience which is what I plan to do. I just can’t believe that I really stick around for that long I should’ve listened to all my friends because they just care for me and for that I’m thankful. Anyways I’m still doing great and I hope once I heal and Seth heals we’ll be able to be more than friends because he’s good for me (haha y’all don’t know who this is only Milton does)

Overall this year was really good to me compared to 2018 so thank you Jesus for that. I can only grow and learn from the things that have happened which is what I plan to do to make 2020 a great year. So much is going to happen in the coming year and I’m actually really scared and feel like I have no one in my corner supporting me but that’s okay I’ll be okay. I love everyone in my life honestly and yea :)

Ok, So about 2 weeks ago I was at a friends house. When I walked out and was getting ready to get into my truck, I noticed all four windows from the passenger side and drivers side smashed out, along with my truck being keyed all around on every panel. I called my insurance company the next day and a few days later they sent someone to give an estimate. I wasn't there though. So I then received a check in the mail, along with the breakdown of the estimate. They gave me $2,600, minus my deductable left me stuck with a check for $1,600. I felt that was way to cheap for a brand new paint job and to replace my windows, so I went around and got quite a few estimates of my own. They ranged between $5,800 - $7,000. I faxed them over the estimates, and what they told me was that the way they worked was I'm supposed to show them their estimate and they are supposed to work with the shop owner from there. So today I went, and as the shop owner was reading through the estimate, he was laughing and pointing things out, saying they can't be serious. And so comes the time of reflection...the time of introspection....the New Year. I’ve done one of these posts the last couple of years now and they’ve proven to be interesting to look back on, so for the sake of my own record keeping...here goes nothing.

2017. My. Oh. My. What a year. And I really wish I meant that in a good way.

January: started off unfathomably wonderful having the time of my life in Paris doing things I never dreamed I’d be doing. Helping a famous haute couture designer prepare for his Fashion Week runway show, drinking wine on the Champs Élysées, sifting through record stores speaking blends of English and French, meeting up with friends in London. Truly a wonderful month.

February: lots of pain this month. And also some heartbreak....fuck that heartbreak man. I suppose this was the month I learned how important open communication is and honesty with other people as well as yourself. Don’t avoid shit man, confront it.

March: the end of something and yet the beginning of something as well. And the beginning of something so truly beautiful it was. Also the month I got my first tattoo woo.

April: the month I lost my best little lady but also the month I fell in love. So hard in love with so wonderful a human being. It’s very difficult to sit here right now and look back on this wow, fuck reflection. The month of quality time and experiencing new things with a new person and fuck okay yeah this is hard, moving onto May pls.

May: another wonderful month spent loving my life and loving myself with someone else. I saw Bon Iver live sitting hand in hand with someone who loves his music just as much as me. Just kept on falling I suppose.

June: started a job that was a very difficult experience. Thing is the downhill in life where everything basically went to shit. He experienced awful things and the ripple effect was significant. Cue depression.

July: don’t really wanna think about this month. Turned 21 I guess. Very grateful for my brothers. Very sorry to anyone who was friends with me at this time...I was quite unwell.

August: not much better truly....maybe worse, I don’t remember. Let’s label these The Dark Ages. But I was trying to get better. I told my parents about my faulty brain. On the 30th of this month I went to therapy for the first time so I did one good thing for myself this year at least.

September: I started to try and move on. I worked on a beautiful show with amazing and talented friends. I hated my job but at least liked the people.

October: tried something new. It was fun and nice but didn’t last long of course. Not much else....things still not great otherwise.

November: again, tried something new. Learned a lot and was able to explore ideas that I otherwise wouldn’t have - thanks for that. Went to Cape May and was in my happy place for a little bit. Manifested something for the first time, that being my new job. And rounded out the month getting hurt again ayyyy.

December: a lot of sadness and nostalgia and not great feelings. Hopeless seems to be the word that comes to mind. Finals...lots of extended family at my house....and starting a new job. Trying to find comfort in literally anything.

It’s hard because while obviously there have been goods within this year...looking at it big picture like this...it all just feels....difficult to think about I suppose. The happiest time of my year, the spring, now brings so much pain and nostalgia looking back right now, so it’s hard. It’s hard to be a glass half full kinda gal after this past year. BUT there were certainly little moments. Little moments (shit already tearing up) like getting a greeting from my roommates every single time I walk in the door. Or like a hug from mom after a really bad week. Or a really helpful conversation at therapy helping things feel a little lighter. Or like booking flights to do something I never thought I actually would. Or like those snuggles with my pupper that I realized I had to stop taking for granted. Or those laughs, god those laughs, at dinner with friends surrounded by people speaking a different language than us. There are many other little moments, some tainted now, but moments I’m trying to remember as good nonetheless. Through it all I’ve learned and I’ve grown and that’s all one could hope for I suppose.

Now is the part where I reflect on the people in 2018 who meant a hella lot (it’s sorta in chronological order I guess):

CS, EW: I know there were a couple others in our apartment but ya’ll made Paris an insanely wonderful experience. I honestly do not know what I would have done without the laughs and the late nights and early wake up calls and all of those damn crêpes and espressos.

TB: you kinda hurt me a helluva lot but I learned from it....perhaps I’ve learned I really need to stop trusting you lols but for some reason you were still a part of this year weirdly enough and I don’t hate that.

CH: I don’t really have the right words right now so I think all I can manage is thank you and I love you (and probably always will woof).

DM: I would honestly be lost without you and I didn’t expect that’s something I’d say. I am so grateful for you and for your friendship and for being someone I am happy to come home and see sitting on the couch every single night. Cheers to all the walks home, all the late nights, and all the stressful times. I am one lucky gal.

LV: you are and always will be my honest other half. We drifted and did our own things at points this year and they were good (and some bad let’s be honest lol we thriving) but through it all, when I needed someone most in some of my worst moments, you were there. And I can’t tell you what that means to me. I love you a whole, whole lot.

SC, TL: Two very unexpected lights in my life that I’m so happy are there now. Living with you guys has made me feel safe in my own home again. You’ve reminded me what comfort and trust feels like and wow I really needed that I guess so thank you.

DM: Mama you are my light, my beacon of encouragement, and I could not have done this last semester without you. You honestly inspire me every fucking time I speak to you, to try and put out the good I want from the world and I love you for that.

ZS, BS, CS: This has been a really really great year for us. I don’t know...you all have just become 3 of my actual best friends. Sure we don’t gab about our lives together but I’m just really really happy with how close we’ve gotten. Damn I love you guys.

JS: Yo real talk, one of my favorite people you are. I am so glad and so lucky that you fell in love with my brother and decided you were down to marry him because I cannot tell you how important the time I’ve gotten to spend with you has been. I feel like I can just unwind and take a deep breath when I’m hanging with you and your furry lil babies. Thank you. Thank you times a million. Also your siblings rock and I love them all as well goddamn.

MS, JS: Every year that goes by, that I get older, I come to love and respect you more and more and it amazes me because holy shit I love you guys a whole lot and am so grateful for the two of you. For loving me and trusting in me and always wanting to take care of me. Damn now I’m crying ok I love you a lot that’s all.

BW: Ok honestly I am amazed you are on this list again but I’m so happy you are. Somehow you’ve managed to be one of the most inconsistent friends but one of the truest and most honest. There are things I have talked to you about that I’ve not discussed with anyone and that’s something I’m so grateful for. To see where we started and where we are now is quite hilarious but hey, I’m glad you’re in my life one way or another.

DC: I spent a lot of my first couple of years at college wanting to move on and make new friends and this last year, the last few of months especially, I have come to find comfort again with all of you. And like genuine happiness when I’m hanging out with all of you and I’m not sure when this shift occurred or why but I’m happy it did and I’m happy you all still accept me into your lives, thanks pals.

ZL: Though someone I can get very frustrated with, there have been moments throughout this year where I have been very happy to be friends with you. And sharing in those moments, those conversations, has meant a lot to me.

EQ: Idk man you just make me really happy, you’re such a swell human being and I’m so glad I know you. Keep being you man.

PN: Ugh my heart. I am so glad our friendship has blossomed into something that feels genuine and supportive. It started out as fun and exciting and cute and now it’s just like I have this wonderful human in my life that makes me happy every time I see him. Thank you for being you.

2017 has been a very difficult year....and a very painful year. But it has had it’s moments of sheer beauty as well. And while I can’t say I’m optimistic and sure that 2018 will be great....I feel like...it has potential...potential for good things to happen. And that’s all I can hope for.

I’m gonna vent a little on here because I got some bad news and I’m sad 😞 & no one knows me personally on here. I’ll call this:

The Life of being a Drug Addicts Sister.

I have three brothers and they’re all on meth. Here’s a little backstory to kind of understand what’s going on now.

My dad married his first wife back when he was 28. They had three boys. The oldest is H, the middle one is G, and the youngest one is C. My dad and his wife had a house in Mexico and my dad would go back and forth from California to Mexico. His wife didn’t have papers, and it took a while to fix her papers. They eventually had their first born in Mexico, (H). When everything was all set for her to enter the U.S. they moved and found a home in California where my dad would work. Soon came their second child, (G). A few years later they had their last child, (C). My dad would work 6 days a week and 12 hours a day. His wife also worked but a part time job, so she can be home with the kids. I believe it was September 24th, early in the morning she unfortunately got into a car accident. She died instantly. She left behind her three babies at the ages of (H) 9 years old , (G) 6 years old, & (C) 2 year old. My dad eventually married my mom, and a year later they had me. Honestly, it was not easy for my mom. The kids (H & G) didn’t want my mom there, which is understandable. They knew who their mom was & didn’t want anyone else taking her spot. My mom had no intentions on ever taking her spot or making them call her mom or anything they didn’t want to do. They eventually warmed up to her. My mom raised them as best as she could & treated/loved them as if they were her own kids.

To be honest, I have the best momories with my three brothers. They NEVER made me feel any different because i had a different mom than them. I remember (C) taught me how to ride my bike without my training wheels but I crashed the first time because I didn’t know how to stop lol I remember (G) telling me funny stories one night because I had a nightmare & how to tie my shoes lol. I remember (H) taught me how to not take shit from anybody, to always stand up for myself. We would all play Pokémon ALL day. We would watch rugrats, spongebob, and rocketpower was our favorite. I remember being traumatized after I watched chucky and threw all my dolls away! Lol

My oldest brother (H) eventually started getting into trouble with the police at the age of 14. He had friends that weren’t the best influences, and they would go around town tagging on walls. Not gonna lie, my brothers graffiti was pretty sick. Lol but ever since then my parents have struggled with trying to get him into the right path. He eventually moved in with his girlfriend and had his apartment, a stable job, things were looking good for him.

My other brother (G), is or I should say was the smartest person I knew. He always had good comments from his teachers and always had straight A’s. He had a bright future ahead of him. He would give me and (C) the best advice for school, life, etc.

The youngest of the three (C), was not the best in school. I’d say he was street smart instead of book smart lol. We were the closest, probably because we were the closest in age. He also taught me to not take shit from anyone. They made me one tough cookie lol.

I grew up such a tomboy lol My brothers wouldn’t let me listen to what they would call “little bitch” music lol thanks to them I grew to love a genre of music that people would be surprised that I listen to now because I eventually became such a girly girl listening to fucken Taylor Swift & Justin Bieber lol.

I still remember the first incident that happened. I was 15 years old when I found out that the oldest (H) was smoking crystal. (H) had moved back home with us because it didn’t work out with the girlfriend he dad. I had just came home from cheer practice & I found (H) & (C) fighting because (H) was tweaking it at the house. I didn’t say anything to my parents because... I don’t know why I didn’t but I should have.. maybe things would be different. Ever since that day, little did I know my life would change forever. One year my parents, (C), & I went to Mexico in December. (C) decided he wanted to go to ATL with his moms sister because he got tired of living in California.

I remember crying and telling (H) to stop doing drugs. It was changing him to someone i didn’t even recognize. I thought that was the worst it would get. I look back now and laugh because it got so much worse. He got so bad sooo fast. He would hang out with his little tweaker friends and bring them to the house. He had this one friend AJ, that’s his real name; I’m telling y’all his real name because fuck him lol. He would STAYYYYY going to the house hella on one. My parents told him relentlessly that he ain’t welcome. Aj obviously doesn’t give a fuck because he kept going. My dad didn’t know what else to do, so he bought him a plane ticket to ATL so he can sober up while he was staying with his moms sister which (C) was also there. (C) eventually came back home because he was homesick, but (H) stayed over there. Let me tell y’all. (H) got sooooooo FAT, I was beyond happy because when he was home with us, he was nothing but bones. I thought it was going to be different, I thought he would change his life for the better. (H) eventually came back home also because he was also homesick. Not going to lie, I was skeptical because he was 2 years sober and I didn’t want him to go back to the way he was. He came back Nov. 29 and TWO weeks later... he started tweaking agian. My heart was shattered, I was completely let down.

During this time, (G) met a girl (X) and eventually they were unseparatable. (G) had a stable job, and (X) did too. They lived together in an apartment in the city. They first had a little fubaby that I adored and loved because my furbaby was his brother lol a little down the road (X) gave us the best news, she was pregnant! the first baby in the family! Little baby (P) was about 8 months when things started to spiral out of control.

At this point, (H) was out of his mind. He had literally first fought everyone at the house at this point including my dad, well besides my mom. I remember (G & C) literally fighting him for him to either stop doing drugs or to get the fuck out. This was in February 2017. The cops were called at least 4 times a week. Things obviously didn’t get better but (H) moved in with my dads sister so things were ok.

Here’s when things get weird.. (G) was being really weird, and paranoid. He always kept saying that people were out to get him. He was building this shed for my dad because he was going to school for construction and wanted to build something. He got really paranoid at work also, saying that they were plotting against him to get him fired. So he quit. He started building that shed full time now. He wouldn’t leave the house till like 3 am. Which my dad was really concerned. I also had a bad feeling, he had never ever acted that way. I should’ve seen the signs they were so clear and I’m my face.. I would find globies & baggies in his trailer where he kept his tools which he was the ONLY one that had keys to it. He would always blame (H) but I should’ve known.. I was in denial. (G) could not be smoking crystal, that would be ridiculous he knows better than that especially dealing with (H). The one thing I never thought would happen, happened. (G) was tweaking it too. Little after that, I found out (C) was too.

One day (G) & (C) & (H) & AJ we’re outside and I was inside with some friends. I hear yelling & I knew they were fighting. So went outside. (H) tried to stab (G) in the eye with scissors. If it wasn’t for (G) wearing glasses, he probably would’ve got stabbed. (G) pressed charges, and (H) was booked in jail. It’s sad to say but I was relieved. There was nights I would go out looking for him to come home. Some days I worried if he would even come back. (G) was wrongfully imprisoned because he was at a certain place at the wrong time. There was a robbery at a bar & (G) walked by & they assaulted him & robbed him too. (G) came home and our house got raided at 3 am because they thought (G) did it. He was in jail for about 2 weeks & was let out July 15. & guess what (H) was let out July 16. It was bittersweet to see (H). I have to be honest. My mom & I did go visit him in jail various times & gave him money so he can buy food because I felt bad because jail food does not sound appetizing. (H) was sober and I thought I was getting through to him. Literally a DAY later they started tweaking again. And once again I was let down, completely and utterly disappointed. (C) was changing dramatically as well. There’s things I’ve seen and heard that I will never forget. I’ve witnessed too many traumatizing situations. I’ve witnessed (G) trying to run over (C). They all changed from day to night so quickly. They all fought all the time. It hurt me so much because they were not the same loving brothers that I fondly remember. I tried so hard and far too many times to try to get them to change. The last fight I had got in was with (C). It tore me apart, it broke me. He said foul things to me but the one thing the ONE thing that pushed me over the edge.. “ I have no sister “ in that moment I couldn’t handle it anymore. My depression was at its worst and hearing that since we were so close destroyed my soul. I went into my room completely numb, just defeated. I overdosed on promethazine. I just wanted everything to be over at the moment. I didn’t want to feel the pain anymore. You know some people wake up from nightmares and realize it was just a dream.. well everyday I would wake up to my nightmare realizing it’s very real. I was transferred to a behavioral center from the hospital which was fucken traumatizing. I was there for 3 days, which were the longest days of my life. But I can say I learned a lot while I was there. I joke about it now, like fuckkkk I actually went to a behavioral center my life is fucken dope. but it all seriousness, for the people that are severely depressed, I recommend going to a center. There are therapist that talk to you on a daily basis & groups that you participate in that you can vent and share what brought you there. Sometimes it’s good to just talk to people that you don’t know who you are and no judgement from what you share. The first thing I did was eat Carl’s Jr. when I was released lol.

(G) was so far gone, he was a completely different person. He would ask us if we were ourselves and ask for our social security numbers to see if it was really us or if we were sent from the government to spy on him. He honestly resembled schizophrenic behavior. I will forever remember what (H) told me.. “HES JUST BEING CREATIVE” (X) put a restraining order on (G) because he was relentlessly harassing her at her home & didn’t want baby (P) to be near (G) because it’s honestly scary to be around someone like that. He violated the restraining order and was thankfully put in jail. During this time I no longer communicated with any of them. I decided that I needed a break from all the drama and sadness. So I bought a plane ticket to Mexico for October 15th. I didn’t tell anyone, besides my parents. (G) was let out October 3rd I believe. It was hard for me but I learned the hard way. I didn’t talk to (H, G, C). I didn’t want to go through the pain again. Because let’s be real. Once you get a taste of that drug and you get hooked on it, there’s not a question if you’ll ever go back on it.. it’s a matter of time WHEN you go back on it. I’m not saying all people can’t sober up from it but from MY experience they always go back.

So here we are December 27. I called (X) and she let me know (G) is back on it. I knew he would eventually but I wanted him to change his life for his daughters. (H, G, C) will never be the same, and I’ve accepted it. My parents, (X), friends, and I have tried numerous times to get them to change but they don’t want to. I learned the hard way that you can’t change people in who you want them to be. I always thought that it was because they lost their mother that they fell into drugs. I don’t know what it’s like to lose a parent, but I know I’m my heart their mother wouldn’t want this life for them.

As for me, I quit my job & I stopped going to school so I could stay home to protect my mother from them just in case they ever did anything. I stopped living my life because I was trying to save theirs. I’m going to try ONE last time to try to get them to go to rehab. But I have to start living my life, I’m 22 years old, I’m too young to be feeling like I’m 40. I’m putting them in Gods hands. Nothing is going to stop me from my plans and dreams. I’m going to work hard, so my parents won’t have to. They’ve been through enough. I am the one who is going to look after my parents when they get old. I can honestly say, this made me a stronger person. I’m no longer in that mentality where I wanted life to just end for me. Life is so beautiful & too precious to be sad. So here’s to 2018, nothing but smiles & happiness.
