टीम चैतन्य भारत विश्व भर में 22 अप्रैल का दिन 'अर्थ डे' यानी 'पृथ्वी दिवस' के रूप में मनाया जाता है। पृथ्वी दिवस मनाने का मकसद सभी लोगों को ये याद दिलाना है कि पृथ्वी और पर्यावरण हमें जीवन प्रदान करता है। इस खास दिन पर दुनियाभर में पर्यावरण संरक्षण और पृथ्वी को बचाने के लिए संकल्प लिया जाता है। साथ ही पर्यावरण के प्रति जागरुकता भी फैलाई जाती है।

कैसे हुई पृथ्वी दिवस मनाने की शुरुआत पृथ्वी दिवस मनाने की शुरुआत साल 1970 में अमेरिकी सीनेटर गेलॉर्ड नेल्सन ने की थी। दरअसल, कैलिफोर्निया के सांता बारबरा में 22 जनवरी साल 1969 को समुद्र में तीन मिलियन गैलेन तेल रिसाव हुआ था। इससे करीब दस हजार डाल्फिन, सील, सीबर्ड और सी लायन्स मारे गए थे। साथ ही तेल रिसाव के कारण बहुत बर्बादी भी हुई थी। इस घटना से गेलॉर्ड नेल्सन बहुत आहत हुए थे। फिर उन्होंने पर्यावरण संरक्षण को लेकर कुछ करने का फैसला किया। इसके बाद 22 अप्रैल 1970 को नेल्सन के आह्वान पर करीब दो करोड़ अमेरिकी जनता ने पृथ्वी दिवस के पहले आयोजन में भाग लिया था। इस खास आयोजन में हर समाज, वर्ग और क्षेत्र से लोग शामिल हुए थे। 22 अप्रैल को क्यों मनाया जाता है पृथ्वी दिवस सबसे पहले 'अर्थ डे' शब्द लोगों के बीच लाने वाले व्यक्ति जुलियन कोनिग थे। जुलियन कोनिग ने साल 1969 में इस शब्द से लोगों को अवगत कराया था। जुलियन कोनिग ने अपने जन्मदिन यानी 22 अप्रैल को पर्यावरण संरक्षण से जुड़ा आन्दोलन किया था। उनका मानना था कि, 'अर्थ डे' 'बर्थ डे' के साथ ताल मिलाता है, इसलिए इसी दिन अर्थ डे मनाना ठीक रहेगा। ये भी पढ़े... विश्व ओजोन दिवस : पृथ्वी का सुरक्षा कवच है ओजोन परत, इसके बिना संकट में पड़ जाएगा सभी का जीवन विश्व जल दिवस: जल ही जीवन है, आओ रोकें जल की बर्बादी, लीजिए ये संकल्प विश्व शांति दिवस : दुनियाभर में शांति कायम रखने की एक पहल, बेहद खास है इस साल की थीम Read the full article
