On April 4th Every Year Is World 🌎 🌏🌍 Rat 🐀🐁🐭 Day

World Rat Day was founded in 2002 by a group of pet rat enthusiasts who wanted to challenge the stigma surrounding these creatures and give them the celebration they truly deserve. The day aims to shed a positive light on these animals and promote their care and welfare.

In the Chinese culture, the Rat represents wisdom, wealth and prosperity. It is said to be the first animal that arrived when the Jade Emperor called the animals to appoint the zodiac signs, so the Rat starts the 12-year cycle.

Magawa is shown here working to detect land mines, a job the animal did for years. A rat named Magawa, who has died during retirement at the age of eight, sniffed out dozens of land mines over the course of his career in Cambodia. He is believed to have saved lives and has been widely lauded as a hero.
