So I made young Chuck in his vampire costume! (Based off of a quick scene of it on the episode “Sandwich World”) I wanted to post this to the. Wordgirl Halloween zine but I didn’t know how 🙁 so I decided to post it normally on Tumblr. This art was also made in StickNodes

How many words should a short story submission be? What constitutes a story that is halloween-themed?

Hi there 👻🎃🦇 Glad to hear you're interested in the WordGirl Halloween Zine!

There's a three-page limit on written submissions. (It's not broken down by word limit but rather by page limit.)

As for what constitutes a Halloween-themed story, topics could include, but are certainly not limited to:

A spooky story involving the WordGirl characters

A WordGirl story with Halloween as the setting

A story in which the WordGirl characters participate in Halloween activities

Really though, you have freedom to interpret the prompt however you'd like as long as there are Halloween elements incorporated! :)

Are there any guidelines that submitters need to follow? Like if I wanted to submit a short story or poem, what are the rules for that format?

Please submit in the format of a Google Doc link (set the share settings to "anyone with the link can view")

Please double-space your writing for readability

Please follow the three-page-max rule

Definitely!

If you want to submit a single piece to the WordGirl Halloween Zine, that's perfectly fine. However, if you're feeling inspired and don't want to stop there, here's some additional guidelines 👻🦇🎃

Up to two short stories or poems

Up to three gifs

Up to one animatic/animation
