Akela Cooper (Malignant, M3GAN, The Nun II) and singing sensation Janelle MonĂĄe are teaming up for a horror movie based on the Greek legend of Medusa titled Don't Look.
“I have my own TV and film company, Wondaland Pictures, and we are looking to have more conversations and partner with folks whose taste aligns with ours and with mine. Halloween gives me so many original IP ideas for horror films, psychological thrillers, science fiction, sci-fi worlds.
“I have a film that I’m developing with Universal and Akela Cooper, who’s a fantastic writer. It’s based on the Medusa story and it’s called Don’t Look. I’m so excited about that. It’s going to be a horror film that, again, is a play on the Greek Medusa story. I have other original ideas. I’ve been developing characters with my SFX team for albums, for movies. I cannot wait until the moment comes where we have a script and we’re ready to shoot it.”

metropolis the chase suite: a punchy concept album that's filled with good songs for such a short ep. introduces the overarching sci-fi universe and themes monĂĄe will explore for the next decade. violet stars happy hunting!! was my favorite song for years
the archandroid: slower and more soulful, fades into the background of monĂĄe's discography a bit, but it's still their first full-length album and has got some essential songs (oh, maker, wondaland, etc)
the electric lady: transitions between monĂĄe's overtly afrofuturist work to pop music that you can probably play in front of your family without having to explain too much. has an iconic first half and then a lot of slow songs at the end for some reason.
dirty computer: concludes monĂĄe's suite of metropolis albums, though it's even less explicitly sci-fi. SCREAMS "made by a liberal about the trump administration" but it's fantastic. made the line "mansplaining I fold em like origami" sound badass
age of pleasure: what if I wrote an album all about gay sex

song that i desperately wish they would listen to because i personally like it + Bastien and Wolfgang separately!
oo thank you very much for indulging me, iz!! this is unexpectedly tough because 1. spotify just crashed like four times on me 2. i personally like a lot of the songs i put on their playlists so its hard to choose
but given the option i think i would make Bastien listen to NIN, i think he would be a fan if he was in like a normal modern setting
youtube
Wolfgang's playlist a bit more padded with vibe songs, Wondaland and the whole ArchAndroid album is one of my favorites and is really just there because i love it :>
