#Wolfenstein the new collossus

I am really not sure if i can take the modern Wolfenstein games seriously.

I am currently playing the Old colussus after playing through the new order and old Blood and on one part it really shows all the terrible things the Nazis did during the war and how the world might look like if they actually were the ones to win the war.

buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut on the other hand, Giant mechs, Nazi Zombies and a movie audition with Adolf Hitler.

Like in the New order you literally get put into a concentration camp (with the mission to free someone from it) and see the suffering of the people in their, not to mention that places like Auschwitz and Buchenwald. You break into a cellar but get captured and tortured by a sadistic nazi doctor and then thrown into a fucking fournace from which BJ climbs out from and sneaks himself throught the Lab.

AND THEN A FEW MINUTES LATER YOU TAKE CONTROL OF A HUGE ROBOT AND DESTROY THE ENTIRE FUCKING CAMP AND KILLING NAZIS LEFT AND RIGHT WITH GRENADE LAUNCHERS AND MINIGUNS!

or another example would be in the New collossus.

A touching scene of BJ going to the House he lived in when he was a Child, memories of his terrible Father flushing his head as he enters to find a Ring his mother told him about. In the House he also finds his Father who tells him about how the Nazi "rounded up all the Jews and the coloreds and the queers" and how "this is a whites man's world now" followed by him holding a Gun at BJs face. BJ shoves the Gun away killing his Father with an Axe only to discover that the Nazis have heard the conversation and know where they are. Then BJ was captured, his suit that was the last thing that was able to make him stand was taken. The first plan of his friends to save him failed miserably, during the court session BJ dreams about breaking out and killing every Nazi in the Room and finding his Mom. And of course the execution scene in which General Engel (the main antagonist in The new colossus) shopped his Head off and threw it in a Fire pit.

AND THEN A DRONE, STOLEN BY THE REST OF THE RESISTANCE, CAPTURES BJ'S HEAD, FLIES TO THE HIDING SPOT OF THE RESISTANCE WHO THEN CONNECT THE HEAD TO A MASHINE THAT KEEPS HIM ALIVE AND THEN HIS HEAD GETS CONNECTED TO A NEW SPECIAL SOLDIER BODY THAT THEY STOLE FROM THE NAZIS AND EVEN GETS AND UPGRADE THAT THE PLAYER CAN CHOOSE.

Tho i think the best example would be the entirety of the Old Blood. In the Beginning it was said that the Allies are losing the war, BJ and his Partner Wesley tarned tehmself as Nazis to get to Caslte wolfenstein to get the document that might change the direction of the War to the better. Plan failed, BJ gets captured, Wesley gets extremely tortured and killed. BJ breaks out, dresses up as a waiter to get closer to Helga von Schabbs who owns the important documents. Helga noticed that BJ obvisously isn't German due to his Accent and before they could arrest or kill him an explosion occures that destroyes the entire fucking Town AND DUE TO THAT EXPLOSION SOME WEIRD ASS GAS GOT RELEASED THAT TURNED THE PEOPLE (MOSTLY JUST THE NAZIS) INTO FUCKING ZOMBIES AND FORCES BJ TO FIGHT AGAINST THE NAZI ZOMBIE INFESTED TOWN. and the player has to choose between rescuing a Woman who is trying to find her Girlfriend or some dude who wants to Hijack a zeppeling and throw flyers over Berlin. (I choose to save the Girl btw.) in which one of the two gets turned into a Zombie and has to be killed shortly afterward BJ sneaks throught a cemertary to the place where the explosion came from and foughts through more Nazis and Nazi zombies (the Nazis and the Zombies are not allies btw.)

AND THEN AT THE END, BJ FINDS HELGA AGAIN AND ACCIDENTALLY BRINGS HER AN IMPORTANT DOCUMENT THAT ALLOWS HER TO SUMMON A HUGE FUCKING MONSTER KNOWN AS "THE FLESH GOLEM" OR "KING OTTOS I'S MONSTER" WHO THEN FIRST SEEM TO BE CONTROLLED BY HELGA BUT INSTEAD YEET HER OUT OF THE ROOM, BITES OFF THE HEAD OF THE IDIOT THAT WAS WITH HER AND THEN THE FINAL BATTLE BETWEEN BJ AND THE FLESH GOLEM STARTS IN WHICH ALSO NAZIS APPEAR WHO FOR SOME REASON THINK THAT IT IS MORE IMPORTANT TO SHOOT AT THE ONE ALLIED GUY INSTEAD OF THE FUCKING MONSTER!!!

And after all that, BJ gets the documents, gets saved by an old friend and then send to his 'last' fight aka. to the happenings of the first order.

Sooooo that was also only a bit of the Games, there is more serious and crazy stuff in it which is fun but also confusing because idk how i should feel about the things happening. You literally run around as a One man army, shredding Nazis like a shredder shredds paper, having the fun of you life and then suddenly you have a cutscene in which someone tells about the terrible things they saw when a nuclear bomb hit New York.

And finished. Wolfenstein (2009) is... alright, I guess? I think for everything I liked about it, there was another thing I had a pretty big gripe with. If I were to give an elevator pitch, it felt like the setting and Indiana-Jones-type narrative Return to Castle Wolfenstein had mixed with the confined city exploration of a S.T.A.L.K.E.R. game.

The first half of the game is great with some genuinely fun missions and it's fun to explore the more open-world-like parts of Isenstadt but I think it just kind of loses its fun in the later half with boss fights that are so simplistic and short you can't help but wonder if there was supposed to be more or if it just needed some more time in the oven.

The new nazi types were actually kind of cool and stood out amongst the more standard-type enemies whenever they appeared. As mentioned in previous posts, some of them were absolutely terrifying in spots. It didn't take long for me to figure out what weapons worked most efficiently against these new types which I appreciated.

As for the weapon roster, it worked in parts and others I felt like it lacked: With no pistol or shotgun available (which surprised me, because there were several parts where I thought I was going to be getting a shotgun) and the more focus on ranged weapons made combat fun but not as fun as it could've been. The experimental weapons are the absolute highlight of the bunch - absolute beasts when it comes to large groups of enemies.

The medallion's different gimmicks worked pretty great but it's sort of a "That's it?" feeling once you discover and get a feel for all of them.

I wouldn't call this a bad Wolfenstein game by any means, it's just different and fun to check it out because. Should this game still be delisted from every digital storefront? Absolutely not. I mean I'm totally going to keep abusing Russian soldiers because it is the healthiest form of stress relief I've found other than DOOM or Wolfenstein II: The New Collossus.

Wolfenstein 2 The New Collossus - A First Play EXTRA!

E3 2017

Die E3 ist mal wieder vorbei und einige Sachen haben uns enttäuscht, während andere uns hellauf begeistert haben. Nun möchte ich auch ein kleines Fazit ziehen. Aber wie sah es eigentlich letztes Jahr aus? Vom Indiespiel Fe hört man irgendwie gar nichts mehr, genauso von Death Stranding. Bei Prey war ich super skeptisch und dies bewahrheitete sich beim Spielen, denn ich war ganz schön enttäuscht von dem Spiel. Einige Titel wurden verschoben, wie das neue South Park Game. Zugegeben Watch Dogs 2, Resident Evil 7, Horizon Zero Dawn und auch Pokemon Mond haben mir gut gefallen. Ein Tränchen verdrückte ich, als ich erfahren habe, dass Scalebound gecancelt wurde. So viel zum letzten Jahr, aber was erwartet uns in diesem Jahr? Schauen wir uns meine persönlichen Highlights mal an… EA startete mit einer gezwungen lockeren, leider dadurch auch unstrukturierten Pressekonferenz. Sportspiele sind nicht so meins, Need for Speed Payback lockt mich auch nicht hinter dem Sofa hervor und Star Wars Battlefront sparte an Infos über die Singleplayer-Kampagne. Von den Brothers-Machern kommt A Way Out, welches einfach mal total vielversprechend aussieht - Interaktion mit zwei Charakteren können die, da mach ich mir keine Sorgen! Mit mehr Infos über Anthem geht es in die XBox PK - ich bin unsicher - einen Destiny Abklatsch im Bereich Game as a Service brauch ich persönlich nicht und hoffe, dass Bioware mit ihren guten RPG Erfahrungen einige Elemente reinbringen werden. Das Project Scorpio heißt nun XBox One X - bin ich die einzige, die Scorpio als Namen cooler findet? Naja, die Ansage mit den 42 Spielen fand ich zwar genial, aber die Durchführung war dann doch etwas hakelig. Über einige Spiele wollte ich unbedingt mehr sehen, während andere mich langweilten. Das einzige Spiel, welches mich jedoch richtig gefangen nahm, war Ori and the will of the wisps - da freue ich mich drauf, denn schon sein Vorgänger war wundervoll! Bethesda überraschte nicht nur mit Wolfenstein 2 - The New Colossus, sondern auch mit zeitnahen Terminen für die Veröffentlichung der angesagten Spiele. Evil Within 2 kann man machen, Amiibos für Skyrim auf der Switch finde ich persönlich lächerlich. Wieder kam das Thema auf, dass für Mods bezahlt werden soll. Finde ich an sich eine gute Idee, wenn auch genug Geld an den Modder geht und nicht bei Bethesda hängen bleibt - wir werden sehen. Beyond Good & Evil 2 war das Highlight bei Ubisoft. Zum Glück, denn das neue Assassins Creed Origins sieht irgendwie genau so aus, wie die alten Teile - Innovationen konnte ich nur an der falschen Stelle erkennen. Skull & Bones bringt Seeschlachten mit Piraten mit sich - coole Idee. Ich mag Far Cry, aber wenn ich ehrlich bin, dann stehe ich dem neuen Setting in Far Cry 5 etwas skeptisch gegenüber, trotzdem werde ich es spielen. Mario + Rabbits Kingdom Battle brauch ich nicht unbedingt, kann ich mir aber gut vorstellen. Bei Sony habe ich auch wieder eine Menge zu meckern, denn irgendwie kommt nichts in naher Zukunft und das obwohl Days Gone, God of War und Detroit Become Human schon letztes Jahr angekündigt worden sind. Monster Hunter Worlds soll einsteigerfreundlich werden - meh. Ich liebe Monster Hunter, aber nichts Neues und dann auch noch einfacher… Zu Final Fantasy Angeln verliere ich besser mal kein Wort… Shadow of the Collossus erhält ein Remake… Ich sollte mal meine Meinung zu dem Spiel in eine Rezension packen, denn ich finde es nicht so bahnbrechend wie die meisten Spieler. Ihr merkt, dass ich unglaublich viel an allem auszusetzen habe und ich fühle mich auch wie eine alte Rentnerin, die total grumpy Kindern hinterherbrüllt. Zum Glück kam ja noch die Nintendo PK, die mir die E3 rettete! Metroid 4 für die Switch zusammen mit Metroid - The Return of Samus für den 3DS, ein neues Yoshis-Spiel, ein neues Kirby-Spiel, Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Fire Emblem und dann auch noch ein Pokemon RPG für die Switch? Als dann noch Gameplay zu Super Mario Odyseey kam, war ich rundum zufrieden. Klar, könnte man noch ein neues Animal Crossing für die Switch erwarten, aber das Welcome Amiibo Update für New Leaf überbrückt das schon. Was waren eure Highlights der E3?
