I met a cat today named Nala. I was laying on my friend's couch while he played video games and she came up and sat on me. I am allergic to cats so I couldn't touch her but I loved her cuddling me. I was having a bad day and that little act recharged my energy slightly. She has such good energy! I had to leave soon after that, sadly, but she followed me to the door and I was so sad to leave. We had a connection and honestly it felt deeper than this life.

Broomcloseted Witch Tips ☾
I know, it sucks.
Your parents are probably super duper strict, or you know they would simply never accept the fact that you’re a witch. It’s hard- you’ve got to sneak around the crystals in your room, play off the 300 candles as an “aesthetic”, and hide your Book of Shadows under a heap of clothes or on your window.
From a fellow broomcloseted witch to another, here are some of the tips and tricks I’ve learnt over the past few months of hiding everything witchy I’ve acquired.
Please keep in mind, though, you know your parents better than I ever will. So as much as these tips and tricks helped me, they may not help you. I’m just trying to help in any way I possibly can.
Dedicate a drawer to Witchcraft. No, not an altar, a drawer. You can put your BOS in it, your crystals in it, candles, herbs, and everything else you (might) have. If you’re worried about your parents finding this drawer, you can always put things on top of, for example, your pile of witchy books. In my drawer at home, I have huge makeup palettes on top of everything to hide it from plain sight.
Try to find an understanding friend who supports you. If your parents are strict about where you’re going and you want to play it off as something other than a trip to the local yogi/witchy/dollar store, whether it’s for jars or otherwise, make sure to go with a friend. Any friend that you trust; it makes it easier to go with someone and say, for instance, that you’re going to the mall instead.
Get a cutting board. Or a wooden slice. Or a picture to hang. Anything you can turn around with a clear other side. I know, sounds weird, but this is my favourite trick. If you get a circular, wooden cutting board, you can have one side be an altar, with the compass and symbols on it, and the other side can simply be... blank; decoration. Maybe put some jewlery on it. Then, when you need an altar, it’s there!
Hide in plain sight. If your parents are like mine, they’ll only get nosy and suspicious if they think you’re hiding something huge, and acting, well... suspicious. That is why it’s crucial to talk about your parents, even if you have to make things up. You can tell them; “Hey, look, I read an article today about how lavendar is good for sleep; we should buy some!” or, “Man, my friend has some insence and it smelt amazing! I’m thinking of borrowing some!” This way it totally looks like you’re not a witch, as much as them finding it on thier own.
Keep your room tidy. If your room isn’t clean, it might just bite you in the ass; because if one of your parents decides to clean up your room for you, (like my mom did, yesterday...) they either A) Might throw out things that you need (my mom, yesterday, threw out my tarot cards since she didn’t know what they were *insert facepalm*), or B) Might be curious enough to figure out what some things are, like a BOS or tarot cards. Just play it safe. Never give them a reason to snoop.
Close the blinds and Take Advantage. Is it a full moon? Need to recharge your crystals? Lay them out on your windowsil and MAKE SURE THE BLINDS ARE CLOSED... AND THE DRAPES. Not to mention, if there’s a full moon out, moon water isn’t the only thing you can charge. You can lay out some perfume bottles in the windowsil to charge them with energy; it’ll be a bit less effective than throwing moonwater on yourself, but it’ll come across as less bizzare to those who don’t know.
School is your friend. You can always keep things in your locker or with someone you trust, provided that you don’t hate, or if you have, a locker partner. Check if there are any yogi/witchy shops that have what you need near school. If you have to, just tell your parents you’re running late; but don’t skip class.
Remeber that not everything you do has to be big. You’re closeted, after all. The sole fact that you’re worshiping the god, goddess and divine being at all is amazing and fulfilling, don’t think that everything, and every ritual, you do has to be a huge ceremony with 500 candles and every herb ever grown on earth. Meditating with a lavender-scented candle is enough!
MOST IMPORTANTLY:
Ease into it. If you do all these things at once, your parents will catch on almost immediately. Go slow. Breathe. I know this is hard, and you just want to be able to have an amethyst geode on your desk without being patronized, but you can do this. Stay strong. Take your time.
You can do this! I don’t know how much this is going to help anyone, but I wish I knew these tips earlier so that I didn’t have to go through my first few weeks of becoming a Wiccan.

If anyone has tips to add on, feel free to reblog and add anything you can. I know this community has lots to offer and so many of us have gone through the broomcloset phase of witchy life. I know, I still am.
Good luck lovlies. ☾
