suddenly, you heard driving outside your window. there was a moving truck, making you remember that you have a new neighbor as of today.

“i should probably go greet them..” you mumbled, thinking of a last minute gift to bring to them. “ah! the cookies!” the night before you made cookies, chocolate chunk.

you opened your apartment door and stuck your head out, checking to see if anyone had come up yet. noticing no one, you walked out and then noticed a blonde female in the corner of your eye.

“you must be my neighbor,” the female shyly spoke, “i've been excited to move in, so hello.” she waved with a gentle smile. your eyes locked on hers, the tense air lifting.

you felt your heart leap as soon as you saw her, she was breathtaking. you couldn't help but blush slightly within her presence.

“yes, hi. i am your neighbor.” you whispered, feeling nervous around her. she was just so beautiful, you felt like a peasant in her presence.

“huh? sorry, i didn't hear you..”

“ah! i'm your neighbor, nice to meet you...?” you were able to speak a full sentence, yet your voice shook nervously. “i’m y/n, seo y/n, you are?”

“ah! kim minjeong! nice to meet you.” minjeong held out her hand, waiting for you to shake it.

gladly taking her small, gloved, hand, you shook her hand, nodding as if acknowledging her name. you found it odd she had her hands gloves, but you brushed it off.

“so we’ll be next door neighbors from now on huh?” she smiled, “at least my new neighbor is nice!” she laughed slightly, before she turned on her heel. “i need to unpack, talk later?” she stuck a note in your jean pocket before leaving.

pulling the note out of your pocket, without touching you, her door shut. you opened it to see her phone number on it, you couldn't help but giggle.

you put her number in your phone, sending a text, just letting her know your number.

a few hours later, you received a text back and you both chatted over the phone. a conversation that was fun, something that you hadn't had in a while. for the first time in a while, you were smiling. her little jokes or puns made you laugh, after your breakup, it was hard to laugh because of the pain of it.

yet, minjeong was somehow able to make you laugh. it was nice.

the next day, you were taking out your trash and noticed minjeong. her hands still gloved, yet you just didn't mind it. maybe it was something with her health, you didn't mind either way.

“oh hey!” you exclaimed excitedly, your voice louder than it had been in a while. visibly surprised, she turned to you with a smile.

“taking out your trash?” she came over to you, placing her gloved hand on your shoulder. answering her question with a nod, she giggled at you, “your little reactions are so cute!”

you felt your heart flutter, your face flushing at the sudden compliment.

as if on queue, her phone pinged. “i gotta go, my boss is calling me. talk later?” she asked, waiting for your response, “of course.”

minjeong smiled at your answer and left. skipping away happily, which you couldn't help but laugh to yourself.

the compliments didn't stop after that, left and right, a compliment came your way from minjeong. and, everytime, you went speechless with a red face.

she couldn't help but find anything you did adorable. the feelings between the both of you continued to grow.

one day, she invited you over to her place. of course, you accepted, your crush on her still growing.

“you called?” you teased, giggling. “indeed i did, princess!” her nickname for you slipping off her tongue easily.

“i thought i told you to stop calling me that, minjeong~” you whined, not hating the nickname.

“you did, but it suits you!” minjeong pouted, “the nickname stays, princess.” she stuck her tongue out.

feeling defeated you sighed, knowing you wouldn't win, “fine, fine.”

for the first time, you noticed her gloves off. she noticed your surprised look, and asked, “what?”

you took her hand in yours and looked at it, “no gloves...”

until, you felt an electric shock? visibly looking in pain, she pulled her hand away. her gloves getting put back on her hands.

“are you okay? i'm so sorry!” she apologized, concerned yet her voice trembled.

“i'm fine, are you okay?” you asked her, noticing her trembling.

you rested a hand on her shoulder, before petting her back, telling her to calm down and that you're okay.

her gloved hand touched your cheek and she kissed you gently.

taken aback, you didn't react at first. “i- i'm so sorry..” she whispered when she pulled away, seeing the shock on your face.

before she could run away, you placed your lips back on hers. both of your lips moving in sync, hungry for each other. minjeong took a chance to advance and pinched your skin, making you open your mouth. her tongue dancing with your own, your one hand gripped on the sleeve of her shirt. the other on the back of her neck, holding her soft hair.

the heavy breathing from the two became elaborate, you both feeling hot and almost devouring one another.

minjeong became to grin into the kiss, moving her hand down to the rim of your shorts.

minjeong was the first to pull away, both of you breathing heavily. the tension in the room evident.

“wow..” she whispered, still close enough to kiss again. your eyes stared into hers, still hungry for more.

placing a gentle kiss on your cheek, “another time~” she winked, grabbing your hand.

“i have something to tell you.” the sentence made your face drop, “oh.” you whispered.

“oh! that's not what i mean, princess.” she reassured, “you know that shock you got earlier?”

you nodded, remembering the moment, “well, my mom called it a soulmate shock, though i am not completely sure what it means, i just know it means we are fated lovers?” she shrugged, looking at you with hopeful eyes.

aespa - Drama

This was a wild ride. We started of very aespa with the expected bass and raps and beats and just general dark/edgy vibes. And then they decided to not do that for the second half. I think there are two possibilities here: either this was originally intended to be two single albums that were then put together into an EP along with Better things, or they’re intentionally going for a contrast in the same way that like, My World is intended to contrast with their earlier stuff. I’m not sure, but I enjoyed listening to this album so much. Every album we’ve listened to previously kind of establishes a sound and then sticks to that sound; this album established a sound seemingly for the sole purpose of breaking expectations. I do wonder if the songs are tied together lyrically; that’s something to look into. But aespa have really been surprising me lately, I’m excited to see their sound continue to evolve. Excluding Better Things, this album had an average score of 8.0 which is massive compared to the rest, but well deserved. This album felt really, really good to listen to, I had a lot of fun.

Okay let’s talk a second about album structure. The goal of an album is to keep the listener engaged the whole way through. Typically this is done by arranging the songs in such a way that there’s kind of a rhythm between styles: for example, some songs are slow, some songs are fast, and so to maintain engagement albums will usually alternate between slow and fast songs. This song is probably placed in the middle because it’s TOTALLY different from the rest of the album, so it provides kind of a palette-cleansing break from all of the edgy stuff.

He knew his behavior would be confusing. He wasn't known to keep in touch with his hookups past the friendly professional acknowledgment at music shows. Yet here he was, texting Minnie to grab food together. With clothes on. He could practically hear Taeyong telling him not to get this girl's hopes up, that Johnny was still nowhere near the headspace for dating after his breakup. Still, he couldn't keep his curiosity about her contained any longer. Which left him here, sitting on a park bench, watching couples walk past while he watched for Minnie.

Johnny enjoyed his moments alone. He'd grown up as an only child, and although he loved his members dearly, he found himself needing time to be by himself. A lot of people would prefer to stay inside during the winter months, but for Johnny, it felt like home, so he cherished these chilly nights when he could get some air and quiet. They gave him a chance to think, to clear his head. Right now, without his members giving their opinions, he was thinking about asking Minnie to come as his date to the winter gala.

He smiled at this phone as he read her last message. It was common for him to be addressed as 'oppa' by the aepsa girls, but it meant something different coming from Minnie. As a taxi rolled up to the curb, he kept his mask up until he saw it was her getting out of the car. "Hey," he smiled, "it's good to see you."

Johnny: depends. will you judge me if I order a shit ton of food? Johnny: we finally got released from our comeback diets yesterday

He knew that he was pushing his luck, flirting so openly outside the safety of the club. There was an unspoken safety around clubbing that made Johnny feel more confident. Maybe it was just the booze, but it was much easier to pursue someone in the dark, secluded club. Out here in the real world, he was vulnerable to rejection and abandonment. But that was far from his mind as he wandered towards the area of Seoul he knew was convenient to Minnie.

You waited until Jimin had finished her run through of the routine before stepping forwards, just as the music stopped. “I thought I’d come and see how you were doing,” you smiled as her puzzled eyes looked at you.

“This is a nice surprise,” she chuckled, picking up her bottle of water before walking across to you.

“The routine looks incredible,” you complimented straight away, catching Jimin’s smile turning up. “I can’t believe you’re going to have a solo stage,” you added, giggling excitedly as you knew how much it meant to her.

Jimin’s head came down to rest against your shoulder, “I’m so nervous, I want to make sure it’s a routine that everyone loves,” she admitted to you, throwing her water bottle back down to the ground.

“Trust me, from what I just saw of that routine, everyone is going to love it,” you encouraged, offering her a confident smile.

“You have to say that you like it,” Jimin teased.

Your head shook as you met her eyes, “I don’t have to say it, but I’m saying it this time because I mean it, I promise you that it’s great.”

“Thank you, that’s all that I needed to hear.”

Giselle:

Your hands clapped together as soon as the girls finished their routine, showing it to you for the first time. “You guys just get better and better with every comeback,” you laughed, filling them with compliments.

“I was going to ask if you liked it, but your smile says a lot,” Aeri smirked across the room at you.

“How can I not smile when you guys dance like that?” You asked all four of them. “I knew that your fans would love this comeback before, but now that I’ve seen the routine, I’m absolutely sure of that.”

Aeri smiled appreciatively back across at you, “remember that you’re not allowed to tell anyone about the routine. It’s top secret,” she grinned, finally standing up from the floor and walking over to you.

“My lips are sealed,” you promised all of them, “but when you comeback, I’ll be gushing all about this routine just so you know.”

“Did you like it that much?” Aeri asked.

Your head nodded as if the answer were obvious, “you guys have to be humble, but I don’t have to be, it was just amazing.”

“I’m so glad you’re our biggest fan.”

Winter:

Your eyes widened as you walked into the studio to see the four girls laid out across the room. “Aren’t you guys supposed to be dancing?” You teased, taking a seat beside where Minjeong was laid.

“We’re exhausted,” she told you, the sound of her heavy breaths catching your attention quickly.

“Why are you working so hard?” You frowned, placing your hand against her arm as you looked around at the rest of the girls too. “Have you guys even taken a break? You left the house at five this morning.”

Minjeong’s head shook in response to your question. “They want us to get this routine down today, and if we don’t, then it sounds like they’ll be a lot of disappointment,” she sighed, sitting herself back up.

“No,” you told her, stopping all of the girls from getting up, “I’m here now, and I’m telling you to take five minutes to rest.”

“The company won’t be happy,” Minjeong warned.

Your shoulders shrugged back across to her, “I don’t care, let them scold me if they want to, but you need to look after yourselves guys.”

“Y/N’s right, we need to recover for a moment.”

Ningning:

Your knock at the door brought four pairs of eyes across to look, with Ning waving you in as soon as she saw you. “What are you doing here?” She laughed, noticing a bag held tightly in your hand as you walked in.

“I thought you could do with some bits to help your energy,” you smiled, handing the bag across.

“You’re the best,” Ning laughed as the other girls all began to browse through what you had brought, whilst Ning poked against your arm. “We were just saying how much we want to get some coffee.”

Your head nodded at the wide smile that was on her face, “I must be able to read your mind,” you joked, placing your hand against Ning’s back to encourage her to join the others and get some food too.

“This is amazing,” Aeri told you, opening up one of the chocolate bars that you’d bought, “Y/N, I think you’re my new favourite.”

“Y/N’s not even a member of the team,” Jimin laughed.

Aeri’s head shook as Ning stared across at her, “I don’t think she needs to be a member; I’ve already decided that she’s my favourite anyway.”

You tapped your foot anxiously on the floor, eyes darting around the room. It was getting closer and closer to your group’s performance and you swore you could feel your stomach flip at the thought. You fiddled with your fingers uneasily, hands shaking as you did. Suddenly your whole body stopped, muscles tensing as you met the familiar kind eyes of your girlfriend.

Minjeong sent you a tight lipped smile, gaze softening as she saw the state you were in. The look in her eyes was enough to calm you immensely, you sent her a nod of gratitude. Both turning away with faint smiles gracing your lips, trying not to catch the attention of the cameras that surrounded you. Looking blankly at the stage, you mentally prepared yourself for the upcoming performance.

From the corner of your eye, you could just make out Aespa rising to their feet. Their manager led them as they made their way backstage, passing by you as they did. The girls bowing and smiling at every table they passed, Minjeong’s stare lingering on you as she neared closer to your group. She bowed politely just as she’d done for every other idol, although she paused before moving on.

“You’ll do great!” She assured, keeping a safe distance from you. “You too,” you mumbled, sending her a shy smile. “I’ll see you tonight,” she winked subtly before taking her leave. Your members laughed amused by the pink tint that coated your cheeks, your gaze following Minjeong until she disappeared out of sight. “Our Y/n’s shy!” Your leader exclaimed playfully, pulling you out of your daze.

They chuckled at your confusion, the maknae smacking your arm lightly. “More like whipped,” your best friend chimed in. “Stop,” you whined, covering your reddened cheeks in embarrassment. “Shh or you’ll miss your girlfriend’s show,” your leader teased. Her words had your mouth snapping shut, eyes set on the stage before you. Another round of giggles erupted around you, but you couldn't care less.

You bopped your head to the familiar beat, eagerly awaiting the appearance of your girlfriend. Cheers echoed around the establishment as four girls began to rise from beneath the stage, your eyes shining with anticipation. Minjeong had told you little to nothing about what they had planned for today's showcase, only that it was going to be grand. 

You’d practically begged her to give you any information in the weeks that led up to the award show. But to no avail, she refused to cave, only kissing your pout away in hopes of distracting you. Now the wait was finally over, and whatever you had imagined, this was superior. You swore your heart skipped a beat inside your chest as Minjeong’s dazzling smile appeared on the big screen.

You wanted to personally thank the stylist for doing such a fine job at accentuating your girlfriend's figure. Everything from the outfits to the props was on par, not a thing out of place. They filled the stage with their presence, your leg moving on its own accord as it bounced in time with the music. Your jaw dropped in surprise on multiple occasions that evening, eyes basically pooping out of their sockets.

You held your breath at every stunt performed, yet everything was executed perfectly. The choreography was outer worldly, like nothing you’d ever seen before. When each member got a chance to shine, you had to fight off your smile during Minjeong’s parts, which became increasingly difficult as the performance continued.

As it all came to an end, you let out a breath you didn’t even realise you’d been holding. Minjeong’s charming face appeared on the big screen one final time as she posed for the camera. Your cheeks heated up as she blew a kiss at the lens, dimple showing as she grinned happily. Sinking your teeth into your lips to conceal your smile, the voice of your leader calling you caught your attention. “We’re up next,” they said, linking their arms with yours as they dragged you backstage.

You hummed sleepily at the feeling of fingers running along your arm, eyes fluttering opened as you searched for warmth. “Hey,” Minjeong whispered, cupping your face in her palms. “Hey,” you rasped, leaning into her touch. She caressed your cheeks with the pads of her thumbs, a smirk slowly etching its way onto her face. “What?” You inquired curiously, raising an inquisitive brow. 

“I heard you enjoyed my performance last night,” Minjeong said smugly. “Whatever do you mean?” You feigned innocence, an uncontrollable whine passing through your lips as she pulled away. She reached for her phone before returning to your embrace, handing you the device wordlessly. Hesitantly, you unlocked it, expression morphing into one of embarrassment in an instant.

The screen displayed several pictures of you during Aespa’s showcase, eyes glowing and mouth hung open. Groaning, you hid your face in Minjeong’s neck, hearing her mirthful laughter echo around the bedroom. “You look so cute jagi,” she cooed, earning a light smack on the shoulder. “All the fans agree with me too!” She exclaimed in a fit of laughter, your eyes widening as you looked at the phone once more.

Sure enough there were thousands of comments about your reactions to their performance. ‘Y/n is Aespa’s number one fan hands down’, ‘This is so adorable, their reactions are such a mood’. A pout was plastered on your face, looking at the photos of yourself in embarrassment. “At least most of them are positive yeobo,” Minjeong grinned. 

Much to your surprise, as you scroll further down, Minjeong was in fact correct. There wasn’t a negative comment in sight, the thought leaving a triumphant smile on your lips. The recommended article at the bottom of the screen brought a satisfied smirk to your face. “It seems like I’m not the only one who enjoyed last night,” you teased.

Minjeong’s eyes widened comically at your words, she practically lunged at you to rip her phone from your grasp. “Stupid camera’s,” your girlfriend complained, looking at her own photos that were almost identical to yours. With a dopey grin you pressed a kiss to her cheek, pulling her back down to your arms. Both mirroring each other’s expressions of amusement at the situation, unable to stop the laughter that floated around the room.
