his response makes her wonder if he lost someone as well. their conversation has been about siblings, and from how he talks, his sister seems to be his only one. edna hardly knows him and much less his other relationships, but only a person who actually lost someone would reply like that, like they also know how it feels to lose a loved one to death. perhaps, it could've been another family member, but edna doesn't know what it means to have another relative who's not an older brother. after all, she and onii-chan were born from the earthpulse. they aren't a 'normal' pair of siblings. maybe mikleo might know this a little better than her if she asks him——because even if they weren't blood-related either, he still grew up alongside sorey, and elysia is practically their family. edna has no 'elysia' of her own, not like how mikleo does. 

regardless, family is family and loss is painful, and edna is not cruel enough to ask about it. sometimes, it's better to let sleeping dogs lie. she knows she's spent too many days crying quietly whenever she suffered a moment of weakness, recalling those happy memories with onii-chan like they were still fresh and new——and that ... that, edna knows very well of its effects on the mind: a heart that cries and cries is nothing short from suffocating. that's why the next step is to endure. a lesson well learned with time, practiced during a span of over 1000 years.

she gives an amused smirk, glad that the previous topic is now over. that's enough sentimentality for her, really. ew. ❛  depends on the first impression they give me.  ❜ well, actually, she gives out names based on two other imperative clauses: a) if someone annoys her deeply ( dumbveid ), or b) just to mess with them because they're easy victims ( meebo ). winsa seems to be somewhere in the middle, edging towards the latter if he's the gullible type, which he gives a strong impression of so far. ❛  for instance, i know someone whose name sounded boring, so i decided to name him 'meebo' because it sounded way better.  ❜

truthfully, she has no problems with meebo's name——it's just that he is very fun to mess with, period. it's unfortunate that he has the audacity to get used to the name by now, and therefore, it's not really all that fun anymore. lame. dumbveid is always lame, so she rules him out immediately. at least with winsa, he seems to be frazzled enough that it would give her some form of entertainment for a bit. ❛  another one, i call him 'grampveid' because he has long, white hair like a grandpa.  ❜ she pauses. ❛  but he doesn't like wearing a shirt and he talks about nonsense, so i like switching it with 'dumbveid' sometimes. suits him more.  ❜

CAN'T mourn forever. such a statement was one sunday understood well. the first person he ever mourned was his mother and their original home planet. he was so young as was robin, but most of his mourning was done in private as he focused on caring for robin and ensuring she was dealing with the loss better than he did. he'd hum to her a lullaby to help her sleep and would be her shoulder to lean on. back then he was more susceptible to crying and he would cry not just for himself but for his sister as well.

there were times his mother's memory came to him in his dreams and the grief he hadn't fully processed as a child would return as he'd awake with a pillow soaked from his tears he'd shed while getting to see her once again. back then he was crying just as he would each night she'd return to him. he and robin were in the comfort of her embrace as she sung for them to help calm them. robin held his hand and he held hers and when the melody ended so did his dream.

he wasn't certain the severity of the pain this young woman had dealt with in her life, but sunday could understand it was something that would make even one with a heart made of stone shatter. sunday found her admirable. here he was with his sorrows buried deep within himself putting on a brave face but knowing if the right spot was pierced he'd crumble and be reduced to nothing but a broken mess. while he could pretend to be someone whose heart was strong it was long broken and barely held together. someone, a younger sister no less, who could shoulder the weight of her elder brother's loss he could only dream to be able to move forward like that. if he'd lost robin sunday wouldn't know what he would do. the pain was too unbearable to think of. thus he admired edna.

" i . . . suppose you could say that. " the comment of robin having her hands full dealing with him brought an awkward yet genuine chuckle from sunday. while he was the one who micromanaged even the most minute of details robin certainly seemed to be the one who had everything together out of the twins. while on the outside looking in one might think it were the other way around, but edna hit the nail right on the head. perhaps it was because she was also a younger sister.

" winsa?! " that nickname took sunday by surprise. he wasn't one for nicknames yet certain people seemed to assign him them out of nowhere: birdie, feather-head, chicken wing boy, sunny. winsa seemed to be the newest one to add to the list. her reasoning behind it was there, but it was such an odd nickname he knew if certain people were to hear it they'd burst out laughing. " i-- i don't think i'm that much of a sap . . . "

sunday knew he could be a sentimental person, but he'd never considered himself nearly that much of a sappy person. no doubt if robin were here she'd most likely give a delicate yet full laugh like she always did and say how it was something perfect. did younger sisters have some sort of unspoken ability that kept them all on the same wavelength? it seemed so.
