Miolo Lote 43 1999 . Finally we have reached the first vintage of what is considered one of the first premium Brazilian wines, if not the first who continues to be produced to the date, only on exceptional years. The last time I tasted a 1999 vintage was over a decade ago, even before I graduated on the Level 3 of the WSET. This wine can be considered the watershed in winemaking in Brazil, whereby we understood we could produce something of high quality. Must admit was a bit apprehensive about it before the tasting, knowing the details of this vintage and how this wine production process has improved throughout the years. At the age of 18 years, one can say it has reached maturity! . On the nose aromas of manure, even a bit putrefied (in a very good way), mushrooms stew and hints of spiciness. In the mouth the complex and animal bouquet dominates, with flavours of manure, fungi porcini casserole and beef consommé. Medium body and tannin with medium to high acidity; Lingering after taste in the mouth, something really amazing and unexpected. . It was a great surprise to see this wine very drinkable at his age and it was an honour to be invited to this tasting. This marks the oldest Brazilian wine tasted: 18 years old! .
