這次餐酒會是 Oregon 州的 Winderlea 莊園 位於 Willamette Valley 裡的 Dundee 根據我以往喝 Willamette 的經驗 多數失敗

第一杯酒是 Winderlea 的氣泡酒 嗅覺和味覺同時有明顯的葡萄乾味道 尾韻是酸的

搭配的食物 橄欖鑲嵌在佛卡夏麵包裡 夾著生火腿和一些香料 是新鮮的好味道

接著是 Chardonnay 白酒 聞起來跟喝起來 都有一股臭臭的蛋黃味 是硫化物嗎？ 等一陣子後 多了一點金屬味 搭配下面這道餐點 還不錯

這道是冷湯 干貝表皮酥脆 內部軟Ｑ 帶有海鮮的鹹味 下方的麵包帶有韌性、彈性 上方的魚卵讓尾韻增加更多海鮮的鮮味 湯裡面的花 有點苦 杏仁有烤麥片的香味

接下來是四杯 pinot noir 酒的部分最後一起討論 先介紹菜

這道有很棒的奶油香和sage味 麵團 口感類似麻糬

這道是牛肉 太好吃啦！ 左上角的洋蔥很甜 口感滑滑的 盤子裡是三塊牛肉 表面些微焦脆 內部熟度適中

肉味很棒 沒有過多油脂的膩口 真真切切的肉味 內部充滿肉汁 很棒 搭配的胡椒醬 很搭

最後一道 豬里肌 口感相對沒那麼嫩 味道是樸實的豬里肌味 甜甜的肉汁淋在上面 偏清爽的白色豬肉 馬鈴薯也沒什麼調味

接著是 2號 3號 4號 5號 四杯 pinot noir 綜合感想

2號 2021 Bounteous 一開始有汗臭味 尾韻酸 沒有勃根地香 等了一陣子 香味變多 但仍不夠 放了20分鐘後 出現焦糖味 但是不濃郁 最後酸味比例變高

3號 2019 Dundee Hills 相比於2號 有更多的香味 但香味高峰維持不到10分鐘 之後杯內出現淡淡的焦糖味 比起2號更多 之後居然出現了類似火腿的肉味 最後殘留一點薄弱的果香味在杯內

4號 2019 Shea 一開始有汗臭味、金屬味 5分鐘後開始有香味 伴隨一刺鼻味 悶悶的、潮濕的氣味 15分鐘後，臭味沒了，金屬味還在 再過20分鐘，金屬味散去 這時候香氣比較開放，不再有悶悶潮濕的感覺 味道帶點酸 但是香氣的濃度不夠 之後悶悶的味道和金屬味 時而有 時而消逝

5號 2021 Winderlea 一開始是一個更濃郁的花果香 是與前面截然不同的香味類型 帶點草本的香料味 蔥鬱的味道 帶有更多酒精的味道、酒體稍微厚一些 10分鐘後 散發淡淡的奶香 之後沒什麼特別的變��

香味上來說 2號 和 4號 滿類似

四杯 pinot noir 綜觀來說 焦糖味最後或多或少有出現 但是香氣的濃度都不夠 後期酸味上揚 使得香味變的沒有太討喜

喝了這些酒 尾聲當然要加點甜點！

Killer Wines -- Pinot in the City

For sure, I love Oregon wines. What’s not to love -- some of my favorite wines from many family-owned, small, boutique producers. Reminds me a lot like Texas (except for the grape varieties!).

This week’s Pinot in the City event provided a great opportunity to taste some terrific Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Noir -- and some Chardonnay and bubbles -- from Willamette Valley. Here are some of my favorites from the night!

Bubbles from Argyle Winery and Roco Bubbles!

My favorite Pinot Gris of the night - the 2015 Estate Van Duzer. Steely, mineraly, austere. My kind of white wine.

Also enjoyed the Elizabeth Chambers 2015 Pinot Gris -- pear notes with lots of minerality; austere.The 2014 Lazy River Pinot from Yamhill-Carlton was lush, smooth, with earthy, leather notes (with a cherry lollipop finish). Yum. 

Favorite Pinot Blanc of the night -- Brooks! Super expressive wine with peach, floral and tropical notes, and a nice round texture. This wine is from vines planted in 1984.

Their 2013 Janus estate Pinot Noir had beautiful mushroom, savory notes. 

Hello Shea Wine Cellars! Definitely want to visit them next time I go to Oregon. Beautiful 2014 Chardonnay, 2013 estate Pinot Noir (fruit forward with cherry, raspberry notes) and 2012 Homer Pinot Noir (cherry, savory, mushrooms, and smooth tannins).

The Domaine Drouhin 2014 Arthur Chardonnay is “Chasault” style -- a cross between a Chablis and Mersault. You are calling my name! Also enjoyed the Rose Rock from Eola-Amity Hills (floral, cherry, strawberry, feminine number) and the Domaine Drouhin 2014 Pinot Noir (floral, super lush, silky).

The beauty of these tastings is the people you meet. The Native Flora folks are one of the smallest wineries in Willamette yet 95 percent of their wines leave the state! Loved the 2015 Strawberry Blonde Estate Rose’. #roseallday

Loved meeting Donna Morris and Bill Sweat of Winderlea. This couple moved from Boston to start a winery 11 years ago and are killing it with their Chardonnay (Burgundy in style) and classic Pinot Noir.

Met David Adesheim and his daughter whose portrait is on his Elizabeth’s Reserve Pinot Noir, a rustic, earthy Pinot. Loved meeting his daughter in person!

And last but not least, Kim Coleman -- a former electrical contractor-turned-winery owner. His 2014 Old Block Pommard Pinot Noir was a rough-around-the-edges, burlier and heavier Pinot coming from 7 acres of 20-year old vines. Only 50 cases of this baby, so get it while you can. 

I sure hope the Williamette Vallery wineries make this an annual event. Lots of Oregon wine lovers in Austin. Cheers!

Pinot in the City -- Don’t Miss It!

More than 60 wineries from Oregon’s Willamette Valley (pronounced Willamette dammit!) will offer a taste of the Northwest on Thursday, Jan. 26 at 6 p.m. at the JW Marriott. Get your tickets now to Pinot in the City because this will be a great event to taste some of the finest wines from Oregon.

I visited Willamette Valley a couple of years ago and Oregon wine country is simply stunning, as you will see from the photos below. The wineries also reminded me of Texas because many are smaller producers, offering estate only wines. 

Willamette wineries are known for Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Gris -- and they make some delicious rose’ wines too. Wine Enthusiast named Willamette its 2016 Wine Region of the Year. 

Here are the wineries are I looking forward to revisiting when they are here in Austin:

Argyle -- bubbles,baby!

Brooks -- love the Pinot Gris and Rieslings!

Domaine Serene -- Great wines, in fact Wine Spectator announced its 2014 Evenstad Reserve Chardonnay was ranked #2 wine on its Top 100 wines list

Lange - super small and intimate

Stoller - modern tasting room with some of my favorite wines from the trip (loved the Pinot Noir Rose’)

Sokol Blosser - also a modern tasting room and winery, and underground barrel cellar, look for its popular Evolution label

Sotor - beautiful wines and snack pairings - I brought back the North Valley 2013 Rose’ and 2012 Chradonnay

Winderlea  -- modern winery built into the hillside; we enjoyed a very special pairing that day, with my favorite the Rose’ of Pinot Noir
