Royals Avoid Sweep.
Royals 4 Twins 1 W-Ragans (10-7) L-Varland (0-5) SV-Erceg (5)
The Minnesota Twins have played two very good games against the Royals to take the series. They went for the sweep this afternoon and things didn't go so well. The Royals were ready early as Paul DeJong lined a one-out double to left in the second. Freddy Fermin singled and Kyle Isbel hit an RBI groundout back to the mound. This put the Royals up by a run after two frames. Kansas City kept adding on in the third as Bobby Witt Jr. smacked a Louie Varland fastball out to left for a solo homer. The Royals lead doubled to two and the Twins started to figure out Cole Ragans in the fourth. Carlos Santana smacked a change-up out to left for a solo homer and Minnesota inched within a run. The Royals got that run back in the sixth as Paul DeJong belted a Louie Varland fastball out to left for a solo shot. The Royals added one more in the seventh as Adam Frazier singled and Maikel Garcia pinch ran. Garcia stole two bases and Vinnie Pasquantino doubled him home. Cole Ragans ran with it through seven strong innings. Sam Long got the first two outs of the eighth and Lucas Erceg retired all four men he faced as the Royals avoided the sweep today at Target Field.
-Final Thoughts- Louie Varland put together a quality start. He went six innings and allowed three runs on eight hits with three strikeouts and a walk. Jhoan Duran was used in the seventh and gave up a run, Trevor Richards got in and out of trouble in the eighth, and Steven Okert had a scoreless ninth. Manny Margot led the team with two hits. The Twins hit 1-for-5 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base. Louie Varland was called up and Josh Winder was sent back to St. Paul. Varland will likely get sent down for a reliever. Ronny Henriquez is the only 40-man option because Winder has to wait ten days before getting called up unless there's an injury. Zack Weiss, Giovanny Gallegos, Jeff Brigham, Diego Castillo, and Nick Wittgren are options off the 40-man. The Twins head to Arlington to play the Rangers in a four-game series this weekend. Bailey Ober will face Cody Bradford in the opener tomorrow night.

The Aviators' Respective Squadrons in Top Gun: Maverick
Tumblr media
Author's Note: I have no idea if this post has been done before. Since I got a little too curious, I've decided to look up their squadrons after hearing them a lot and noticing them during Admiral Bates' briefing and at some parts of the movie. Although some may appear inaccurate due to my lack of knowledge of Naval Aviation or the Navy itself, think of this as something a hopeless TG:M fangirl would do just to feed her curiosity.
(In our perspective) If you look closely during the movie, you could see the patches of their squadron's insignias on the left side, while on their right are their patches with their call sign on them.
Though this may not really interest some, here they are:
Lieutenant Bradley "Rooster" Bradshaw (VFA-87)
Tumblr media
The Strike Fighter Squadron 87 (VFA - 87), also nicknamed the Golden Warriors, is a United States Navy strike fighter squadron based at Naval Air Station Oceana. The squadron is equipped with the Boeing F/A-18E Super Hornet and its call sign is War Party. Currently, the squadron is assigned to Carrier Air Wing 8 with the tail code, AJ.

@britishartfair A familiar face has been chosen to publicise the Summer Exhibition at Long & Ryle in Pimlico. It’s a watercolour by Mark Entwisle of the actress Anya Taylor-Joy, in the role of Emma in the 2020 film adaptation of Jane Austen’s much-loved novel. You can’t help but wonder why Entwisle painted the portrait. Does he know the actress? Is it his favourite film? Could he not get the image of her cupid-bow mouth out of his head? Whatever the case, it shows off his great skill as a watercolourist: he’s created almost tangible fleshiness from the washiest of mediums. Entwisle’s work almost always seems to throw up questions. Who has just vacated that turquoise chair oddly placed in a pink-walled hallway? Is the young woman in a pretty bright-green dress a backstage catwalk model or a customer in a shop? Why has that ugly chain and padlock on a black metal gate been decorated with a variety of flowers? His paintings are like stills from movies. Or perhaps they are snapshots of his life. They make you wonder about the before and the after. There’s a realism to them; often a sense of incongruity, too. Incongruous realism, now there’s a genre. Entwisle started his career as an artist designing book covers, which he did with great success, the authors including Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Somerset Maugham, PG Wodehouse and Aldous Huxley. There’s a graphic element to his style, which has passed through to the second stage of his career. He is one of twelve painters hung in this exhibition, from which two will be shown by @longandryle at British Art Fair (Maro Gorky will also feature). Other artists to be shown at Stand 27 on the first floor of Saatchi Gallery next month include Simon Casson, John Monks, Ramiro Fernandez Saus, Sandra Blow, Terry Frost, Alan Davie, Gillian Ayers and Kate Corbett Winder. Tickets to British Art Fair are available via the link in our bio. #britishartfair #BAF22 #annataylorjoy #modernbritishart #markentwisle https://www.instagram.com/p/ChuQ52aIKcE/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

JERRY GARCIA ELECTRIC GUITAR BY TRAVIS BEAN, CIRCA 1975
The body made of koa painted a crème color, two black plastic pick-ups noting "Travis Bean," a silver metal pickguard; the neck made of silver metal, the fretboard made of ebony with ten iridescent mother-of-pearl rectangular-shaped inlays; the headstock silver metal with a pressed-stamp reading "715." Included is the custom-made black leather case (that only a TB1000 guitar fits in), with some of Garcia's items still inside: his guitar strings, a tuning fork, a string winder, and an unopened pack of his non-filtered Camel cigarettes. (Please note this guitar shows signs of wear and age as Garcia played it for a number of years.)

Frosinone, incontro Internazionale Italia-Messico su l'agave
Tumblr media
All’incontro internazionale prenderanno parte, in videoconferenza, S.E. l’ambasciatore Miguel Jorge Garcia Winder, rappresentante permanente del Messico presso l’Onu a Roma; Mauro Mariotti, direttore giardini botanici Hanbury, Università di Genova; Rosario Schicchi, direttore orto botanico, Palermo; Guido Bissanti, agronomo; Massimo Serra, Osteoncologia, istituto ortopedico Rizzoli, Bologna; Antonella Petrocelli, ricercatrice CNR; conclusioni affidate a Nino Sutera, osservatorio politiche neorurali, assessorato agricoltura regione siciliana. Twins Wallop Royals 13-3!
Royals 3 Twins 13 W-Matthews (1-0) L-Lugo (13-7)
The Minnesota Twins got back on track with a win over the Royals last night. The series continued with Game 2 tonight at Target Field. The Twins were ready from the start as Willi Castro led-off the first with a double to right. Royce Lewis singled him home to start the scoring. Matt Wallner followed with a double and Jose Miranda hit a grounder to third. Maikel Garcia made a bad throw and two runs scored on the play. This put the Twins up three after an inning of play. The Royals answered in the second when MJ Melendez smacked a Zebby Matthews cutter out to right for a solo homer. The Royals pulled within a pair after two innings of play. The Twins got that run back in the third as Matt Wallner drew a one-out walk. Jose Miranda doubled him home as the Twins lead grew back to three. Christian Vazquez added on in the fourth when he belted a Seth Lugo fastball out to center for a solo homer. The Royals inched closer in the fifth as Kyle Isbel singled to center and Michael Massey doubled him home. The Twins quickly loaded up the bases in the bottom of the fifth. Max Kepler then lined a seeing-eye single to left to add to the Twins lead. Manny Margot added a hot shot off the glove of Maikel Garcia to plate another run. Christian Vazquez hit a sac fly to center and the Twins lead grew to six after five frames. Kansas City came right back with a Salvador Perez solo shot off Steven Okert. The Twins kept adding on in the sixth as Max Kepler belted a Will Smith slider out to right for a three-run blast. Minnesota had an 11-3 run after six innings of play. The Twins bats stayed hot in the seventh as Austin Martin lined a one-out double to left and Kyle Farmer belted a Will Smith change-up out to left for a two-run homer. Josh Winder threw two shutout innings and the Twins took the series from the Royals tonight.
-Final Thoughts- Zebby Matthews was very good in his MLB debut. He went five innings and allowed two runs on five hits with five strikeouts. Steven Okert gave up a run in the sixth, Caleb Thielbar had a scoreless seventh, and Josh Winder threw shutout innings with three strikeouts. Jose Miranda and Max Kepler led the team with three hits each. Matt Wallner and Austin Martin each had two hits. The Twins hit 5-for-15 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base. The team designated Scott Blewett for assignment to make room for Zebby Matthews on the 40-man roster. Tomorrow, Cole Ragans will likely face Louie Varland in the series finale.

50cm:Winder sprints to first leader's jersey at Valenciana
Ruth Winder (Trek-Segafredo) judged her final sprint to perfection, launching herself into the final turn and coming out of it with a sizeable gap ahead of her breakaway companions, to win the opening stage at Setmana Ciclista Valenciana. The American's stage success brought with it the first leader's jersey of the four-day European opener. It was mixed emotions for the team as they lost Trixi Worrack to a broken collarbone sustained in a crash earlier in the stage.
"We had reconned the course so I knew the finish really well and attacked full gas into the roundabout with 400 meters to go and I went as hard as I could to the line," said Winder, who led the breakaway across the line by just four seconds ahead of a charging main field.
"It was that feeling that the finish line kept getting further and further away and I was certain the entire peloton was going to rush past me in the last second. But it didn't and I held on for the win. It feels unbelievable to win the first race over in Europe – it's exciting, and I am happy with the team; the spirit is so good."
Although Winder suffered a flat tire before the field hit the first of two main late-race climbs of the stage; Barxet (90km) and Barx (105km), she relied on her teammate to get her back into contention.
"I had a puncture right before the first climb, and Anna [Plichta] stayed with me, and she was great," Winder said. "I felt so calm to have a teammate stay with me, and she got me back to the front safely. Then at the top of the climb there was a break that went, and then before it really, truly went down, and I rolled alongside Elisa (Longo Borghini) and said, 'Oh Elisa, I want to go' And she said, 'yeah go!'"
It was the winning breakaway, and Winder bridged across to the move, which also included Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig (Bigla), Mavi Garcia (Movistar), Soraya Paladin (Ale Cipollini) and Karol-Ann Canuel (Boels Dolmans). The group lost Uttrup Ludwig inside the last 10km, but they pushed on together in an effort to get to the finish line ahead of the main field.

Font Del Llop Golf Resort at Monforte Del Cid, Valencia, staged the V Challenge Seve Ballesteros Foundation event on Saturday April 15, played under the Greensome stroke play modality.
Played under licence, issued by The Royal Spanish Golf Federation, players had the opportunity to qualify for the National Final at Pedrena Royal Golf Club and an invitation to play the Pro-Am Eurasia in Malaysia in 2018.
Seve, former World No. 1, won more than 90 international tournaments during an illustrious career, including five major championships during 1979-88.
Winner of The Open three times and The Masters twice, a captain of The Ryder Cup Team, Seve won the World Match Play Championship a record-tying five times.
Regarded as Spain’s and Continental Europe’s best golfer of all time, Seve won a record 50 European Tour titles.
In 2008 Seve was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumour, and died of brain cancer on May 7, 2011, aged 54.

Minnesota Twins-Toronto Blue Jays Series Preview
5.10.24-Joe Ryan RHP (1-2) 3.54 ERA Vs. Yusei Kikuchi LHP (2-2) 2.72 ERA
5.11.24-Simeon Woods Richardson RHP (1-0) 1.74 ERA Vs. Kevin Gausman RHP (2-3) 3.78 ERA
5.12.24-Bailey Ober RHP (3-1) 4.42 ERA Vs. Alek Manoah RHP (0-0) 13.50 ERA
The Twins At A Glance- The Minnesota Twins have been hot with a (15-2) record over their past seventeen games. They took three of four from the Mariners this week and head up to Toronto to play the Blue Jays. Max Kepler is on fire with an eleven-game hitting streak. He is hitting .447 with three homers and nine RBI's in that span. Ryan Jeffers is hitting .333 with three homers and nine knocked in over the past week. Byron Buxton has been doing normal workouts, but hasn't began swinging a bat yet. Royce Lewis has been taking groundballs and swings in the batting caage. He is on target to return in late-May. The Twins rotation had a 1.61 ERA with 35 strikeouts over 22 1/3 innings in the Mariners series. Brock Stewart had an MRI on his right shoulder and it looked good. He is hopeful to resume throwing this weekend. Justin Topa had an MRI on his left knee after feeling soreness during a rehab appearance. Josh Winder has started a rehab assignment with the Saints. The bullpen is missing one more big arm. They have used Griffin Jax, Jhoan Duran, and Caleb Thielbar a ton. The return of Brock Stewart or Justin Topa would be huge. Jhoan Duran has thrown five scoreless innings and struck out eight since returning.
The Blue Jays At A Glance- The Blue Jays have been playing sub-.500 baseball and some of their stars are slumping. The Jays split a tw-game series with the Phillies and had Monday and Thursday off this week. The team returns home after a five-game road trip. Justin Turner has been a good addition with a .270 average, four homers and sixteen RBI's. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is hitting just .246 with four homres on the year. Bo Bichette is still hitting 1.91 with one homer. Cavan Biggio is off to a slow start as well. Daulton Varsho leads the team with six homers. Jose Berrios is off to a great start with a 2.85 ERA in eight starts. Yusei Kikuchi has been good with a 2.72 ERA. The Blue Jays starting ERA is 4.25, which is 20th in baseball. The bullpen has a 5.23 ERA, which is worst in MLB. Yimi Garcia has been very good out of the bullpen. He's allowed just one run over 13 1/3 innings. Jordan Romano hasn't had a good start. He has a 4.70 ERA with five saves.
What To Watch For- These two teams split six games in the regular season last year. The Jays won two of three at Target Field in May and the Twins took two of three in Toronto in June. The Twins then swept them in the American League Wild-Card Series to advance. Joe Ryan went six innings and allowed three runs in his lone start against the Jays. Yusei Kikuchi is (1-1) with a 3.38 ERA in five starts against the Twins. Kevin Gausman is (1-4) with a 6.35 ERA in eleven starts versus the Twins. Bailey Ober is (1-2) with a 4.40 ERA in three starts against Toronto. Alek Manoah is (2-0) with a 3.09 ERA in two starts against the Twins. The Twins weren't sure if they could get the summer sausage through customs. They might need to buy a new one for this trip.

Michael Taylor doubled home two more to even the game at four apiece. Donovan Solano knocked in two more with a base hit to left to put the Twins on top. The Rangers answered in the bottom of the fourth with a Mitch Garver lead-off walk and Robbie Grossman singled to left.
