making my own post off of @annebrontesrequiem 's post about R Nathaniel Dett, because we need to talk about him and William Grant Still more!!! They've both written some really incredible choral music, and I say this as a guy who isn't super into a lot of modern choral music.
"Skyward My People Rose" is a good intro to William Grant Still's choral music (my personal favorites are "Wailing Woman" and "Swanee River (Old Folks at Home)"), and as in the other post, "The Ordering of Moses" will make you go crazy and froth at the mouth, the finale is firmly on my list of music that makes me feel the presence of the divine.
