What system are you playing on? If you’re on the PC, get a mod and you won’t have to buy decorations. I use Berts Breezehome Remodeled and just love it.

Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on how you look at it), I am on Xbox. It means I get DLC faster, but I can't mod on  my own.

I don't mind to save up for decorations though. Honestly, what else does money really go towards?

Granted, I could use it to buy supplies to up my smithing, but this part of the game is the only time you really suffer on cash. Last gave I had 300k and that was after buying the houses and throwing a bunch of gear on the ground because I couldn't be bothered to take the time to find buyers.
