What should I consider when beginning to golf and buying golf clubs?
Starting golf can be an exciting journey, offering both challenges and rewards! Here are several key factors to consider when beginning to golf and buying your first set of clubs:
1. Understanding Your Needs
Skill Level: As a beginner, you’ll want golf clubs that are more forgiving and easier to hit. Clubs designed for higher handicappers often feature larger clubheads and more perimeter weighting, which can help with off-center hits.
Frequency of Play: Think about how often you plan to play. If you’re just starting and only playing occasionally, a more budget-friendly set might be sufficient. However, if you plan to play regularly, investing in quality clubs could be worthwhile.
2. Types of Clubs
Driver: This club is used for long-distance shots off the tee. Look for a driver with a larger clubhead and a higher loft, as these features help make the ball easier to hit and get airborne.
Irons: Irons are typically used for approach shots and come in various numbers. Beginners might benefit from cavity-back irons, which offer a larger sweet spot and more forgiveness on off-center hits. A basic set usually includes 6-iron through 9-iron and a pitching wedge.
Wedges: Wedges are crucial for short-game shots and chipping around the greens. A pitching wedge and a sand wedge are good starting points. As you advance, you might consider adding more specialized wedges like a lob wedge.
Putter: The putter is essential for finishing holes. Choose a putter that feels comfortable in your hands and matches your putting style. There are various designs, such as blade or mallet putters, each offering different benefits.
3. Club Fitting
Length: Ensuring that the clubs are the right length for your height and swing style is crucial. Clubs that are too long or too short can affect your swing and overall comfort.
Grip Size: The size of the grip can impact your control and comfort. Grips come in various sizes, so choose one that feels right in your hands. A proper grip size can help prevent fatigue and improve accuracy.
Flexibility: The shaft’s flexibility (stiff, regular, or senior) should match your swing speed. Beginners typically benefit from regular or senior flex shafts, which provide more distance and accuracy for slower swing speeds.
4. Budget
Set vs. Individual Clubs: Decide whether to buy a complete set or individual clubs. Complete sets are often more economical and provide a good starting point for beginners. As you advance, you might want to add or replace specific clubs.
New vs. Used: Used clubs can be a cost-effective way to start. Just make sure they are in good condition. Many golf shops offer used clubs that are still in excellent shape, providing great value for beginners.
5. Try Before You Buy
Demo Days: Visit local golf shops or courses that host demo days. These events allow you to try different clubs and find what feels comfortable and suits your game before making a purchase.
Rent Clubs: If possible, rent clubs at the course to get a feel for different types before committing to a purchase. This can help you understand what features you prefer.
6. Brand and Quality
Reputable Brands: Look for well-known brands that offer beginner-friendly options. Brands like Callaway, TaylorMade, and Titleist have a range of clubs designed for beginners.
Quality: Invest in decent-quality clubs that can enhance your learning experience. While high-end clubs might not be necessary at first, ensure that the clubs you choose are well-made and reliable.
7. Learning and Improvement
Lessons: Consider taking lessons from a professional instructor. Early guidance can help you develop a solid swing and avoid common mistakes. Lessons can significantly improve your technique and enjoyment of the game.
Practice: Regular practice is essential for improving your skills. Spend time at the driving range and putting green to become more comfortable and confident with your clubs.
8. Accessories
Golf Bag: Choose a golf bag that suits your style and is comfortable to carry. There are various options, including stand bags and cart bags, each offering different features and conveniences.
Balls: As a beginner, start with lower-cost balls designed for distance and forgiveness. These balls can help you achieve better results and improve your game without breaking the bank.
Summary
Starting with the right equipment can greatly enhance your golfing experience. Focus on comfort, ease of use, and affordability while considering your specific needs and preferences. To make your shopping experience even easier, consider Golfism as your one-stop shop for golf clubs. Golfism offers a wide range of brands and options, ensuring you find the perfect clubs to suit your needs. My First Time
Tumblr media
My Buddy Ted introduced me to a couple of his friends, Rick Slamon and Bob Phillipps. One weekend somebody suggested we play some golf. My family was quite poor and golf is a game for the rich. I was told that we would go to Stanley Park and try the pitch and putt course which cost very little. I will try anything so I quickly agreed and off we went.
I got my 7 iron, putter and a white ball plus a quick lesson on how to hold the club. Since it was my first time I held the club like a baseball bat but I was quickly corrected. It was decided that this should be a competition. Bob was easily the best golfer so the teams naturally ended up with me and Bob as one team and Rick and Ted as the other.
Pitch and putt courses usually have a mercy rule that limits your score on each hole to a maximum of 6. Most, if not all the holes, are par 3 so even a poor golfer won’t have an outrageously bad score.
The game progressed much as expected with Bob getting par or better on most holes and me getting the maximum 6 on most of them. As we played I did improve a bit and scored 5 a couple of times. Rick and Ted were keeping pace with us so the total for each team was close.
The score was close enough that Bob figured we could win the match when we got to the 18th and final hole. Bob gave me an incentive at the 18th tee. He said “White, if you get less than 6 on this hole I’ll buy you lunch.” The 18th was the longest hole on the course and the distance from the tee to the cup was about 180 yards. The other holes varied from 60 yards to about 130 or so. This hole was a challenge.
Everyone hit reasonably good tee shots and then it was my turn. I was just trying not to embarrass myself by making a really bad shot. I swung my club and felt it make good contact with the ball. My shot went straight down the middle of the fairway and rolled onto the green. It wasn’t until we reached the green that we could see my ball resting less than 2 feet from the cup.
I thought Bob would be excited but his demeanor was less than pleasant. I’m not sure if he ever forgave me for that.

Off Limits (Series?)
Part One
Welcome to my debut writing project! I wasn't planning for this to be a series when I started, but it definitely has the potential to be at least a few parts. Let me know if you guys would like more, and if you want to be added to the taglist! :)
Pairing: Sam x (Female) Reader
Summary: Working at a golf course, you struggle to keep the harmony between you and a vexing coworker, until a turn of events leads you to an unexpected friendship (or maybe something more?).
WARNINGS: Harassment/groping from creepy old men!!! Not too vulgar, but it leaves the reader feeling helpless and fearful so it definitely may be triggering to some. Also cursing, cigarette smoking, and the mentioning of drug use.
Shoutout @garbagevanfleet for helping me! <3
Tumblr media
The afternoon sun shines bright as you pull into the golf course, the parking lot bustling with carts and guests with their clubs in tow. It’s expected to be busy today, the tee times almost completely booked the last time you had looked at the schedule. You check yourself in your rearview mirror, putting on a fresh coat of lip balm and a spritz of perfume, before stepping out of your car and into the heat.
Once inside, you realize that the clubhouse is even more packed than the parking lot, and you do a quick turn down a hallway and into the office before you have a chance to get stopped by any guests asking about cart rentals or where to order beer. The office is a quiet relief from the main lobby, and there you find Danny sitting at his desk, sporting his usual golf attire with his curly, long hair half tied up. He’s facing away from you, but you can tell that he is intently focused as he scrolls though an email that’s pulled up on the computer in front of him, the mouse clicking beneath his fingertips.
Danny is the sales manager at the course, and you can tell that he really loves his job. He’s always eager to show any newcomers around, and everyone there knows and adores him. He has a lively, bright personality that you could never get enough of, and not to mention he’s an excellent golfer. You can catch him hitting balls on the range any time of the day, and he often participates in local tournaments. You aren’t an excellent golfer yourself, but Danny is always down to play a round on his off days with you and teach you any tips and tricks that he can.
“Good afternoon, Daniel,” you chime, and the boy immediately swivels in his chair, possibly a bit startled by your sudden presence, but meets your gaze with a sweet smile.
“Y/N, hello!” he greets. “Ready for today? We’re booked, you should make great tips.”
“Let’s hope so,” you reply, walking to a closet at the far side of the room to retrieve your money bag and tablet.
“Have you seen Sam by chance? I need to ask him about this group that’s coming in at 2…” Danny asks as he continues to face the computer monitor. You tense at the mention of his name. Sam.
You fucking hate Sam. You don’t know why, but ever since Danny hired him on a few months ago, you two do nothing but bicker at each other. You’re normally not the type of person to hate someone, hate is such a strong word and rarely used in your vocabulary, but it really is how you feel about Sam. Anytime you ask him for a favor, usually something painless like getting you a roll of quarters from the register, or his keys to the storage room, Sam acts like it’s the end of the world. He always just rolls his eyes, tossing the requested items at you carelessly. He works in the pro shop, the main store where guests go to check-in and buy their necessary golf gear, which can be anything from clubs, to ball tees, to sportswear. When you question him about a new wedge they are selling, or the price of a shirt, he replies with such an attitude that it makes you feel stupid for even asking. He makes your blood boil, and you hate to admit it but he’d even nearly brought you to tears a few times. You just don’t know why he was so mean to you.
Danny doesn’t understand the dissonance between the two of you either; him and Sam are best friends, they apparently have been since they were little, which isn’t surprising by how they act together. After hours, you can catch them racing carts across the fairway, or using their golf clubs like baseball bats to hit empty beer cans back and forth. You remember how excited Danny was when he first told you that he had hired Sam and how that, in turn, made you excited, because you were sure that any friend of Danny’s was a friend of yours. Oh, how wrong you were.
You also remember the first day Sam came to work, and how the other cart girls giggled and whispered about him in the back of the kitchen because they thought he was cute.
Sure, you can agree that Sam is attractive. He has a tall, slender stature, and long brown hair that he sometimes pulls back into a bun or headband when it’s especially hot out. His hair frames his face nicely, complimenting his high cheekbones and rigid jawline that usually remains clenched, or at least it is whenever you’re around. His eyes are warm and kind when he helps guests, especially when the course hosts children’s lessons and he gives them free stickers, or helps them swing a club for the first time, but they harden to a cold glare whenever he sees you.
You have no idea why you elicit such a cruel response from Sam, but just the mention of his name can ruin your day. You don’t want to let that happen today, though. You really want to start trying to ignore him and his bullshit, since other than putting up with him, you genuinely enjoy this job.
“I haven’t, but I can let him know if I do,” you reply to Danny after a brief pause to reflect on your grievances. You raise your voice a few octaves to disguise your attitude.
“Great, thanks so much!” Danny returns, buying your facade, even though he definitely knows that you’re less than pleased. You sigh, immediately regretting offering to speak to Sam once you did ultimately see him.
You grab your things and say goodbye to Danny before heading outside toward the cart barn across the lot, unsure if you’ll be seeing him for the rest of the busy day.
Once you retrieve your cart and stock it up with plenty of beer, liquor and snacks for the guests, you make your way back to the clubhouse to fill the coolers up with ice. As you’re putting the cart in park, you look up to see a painfully familiar face walking out of the back kitchen door. It’s Sam, a cigarette already dangling from his mouth as he makes his way to the side of the building for his routine smoke break. It’s not long before he notices you as well, his face falling to a dull grimace before he looks back down to light the end of the cigarette.
“Danny needs to ask you about something, he’s in the office,” you inform him as you pass, a cloud of smoke puffing in your face. You waft it away.
“About what?” he asks flatly, another puff escaping his lips.
“Something about a group coming in at 2 o’clock,” you repeat Danny’s words, yanking open the heavy door to the kitchen.
“What the hell does that have to do with me?” he asks, still not sounding too bothered, but the question annoys you nonetheless. You pause before letting the door slam back shut, turning around to face him again.
“I don’t know? Maybe you should see Danny to find out,” you snap back, noticeably irritated.
Sam stares at you for a second, before letting out a defeated sigh. He shakes his head as he drops his barely lit cigarette to the ground and extinguishes it with his shoe. He begins to follow you back inside, and to your surprise, he reaches past you to open the door this time, letting you go first underneath his extended arm. It was quite the considerate act coming from him, and you almost saw it as a subtle apology for being so snappy with you. That couldn’t be though, you thought. He would never.
Sam walks out of the kitchen and presumably to the office as you fill up a few plastic buckets with ice for your cart, his small but kind gesture lingering in your mind for longer than you care to admit.
~
You make 2 rounds around the course before you have to head back to restock your coolers, the beer and liquor selling even quicker than you had anticipated. You pull into the cart barn and park, rummaging through your things to find the keys to the refrigerator where extra stock was held. As you’re opening the lock, you hear someone pull up beside you.
“Hey there,” a man’s voice calls out.
You turn around to find that it’s Robert, one of the marshals that drive around to monitor the flow of traffic throughout the course. You kindly greet him, even though you are confused as to why he is hanging around the barn during peak business. You don’t know Robert too well, only waving to him on the occasion you passed him on the cart paths, but you knew he was buddies with plenty of the other guys that worked there. He was an older gentleman, probably around 70, which seemed to be about the age of most of the other marshals you had met.
“Makin’ good money?” he asks, and you can’t help but notice him eyeing you a bit too excessively, leaning out of his cart towards you.
You did recall hearing about Robert being a little too friendly with the girls on the course before, but after getting scolded about it by previous management quite a few years ago, you didn’t expect to ever experience it firsthand.
“Yeah, not too bad” you reply, trying to ignore his looks, but your smile falters a bit as you begin to feel uncomfortable.
Your work uniform is by no means risqué: a grey golf shirt with a white skirt, that you admittedly pull up a little higher to show off your legs, but it still fully covered everything it needed to. Even so, the way Robert’s eyes rake you up and down makes you feel like you’re naked. To your dismay, Robert steps out of his cart and closer to you. You hold your breath.
“Your name tag is crooked,” he informs as he approaches you. “Here, I can fix it.”
Before you can decline, he reaches out to adjust the silver rectangle attached to your top. You can feel him pressing against your chest much firmer than necessary, fumbling with the pin on the back of the tag. You’re certain that it wasn’t even crooked to begin with, remembering that you had put it on in the mirror before leaving your apartment earlier. You want to tell him to back away and to stop touching you, but you realize no one else is around you, and you’re scared to do anything to upset him.
Your anxiety and need to please people is one of your least favorite traits about yourself. You obviously know that your personal space should be respected, especially by a man, but after hearing so many horror stories about men lashing out after being scolded or rejected by a woman, you are now terrified by the smallest possibility of causing conflict. This is ironic considering your issues with Sam, conflict proving to be unavoidable despite your utmost efforts with him. But you suppose that Sam not liking you in the first place avoids the possibility of him ever getting angry by your rejection, so you conclude that you don’t have much to worry about with him.
You freeze as the back of Robert’s hand lingers on your chest, and eventually falls to trail down your arm.
“You’re a beautiful girl, you know that?” he whispers, entirely too close to you. You could throw up.
Your heart is racing, and you’re so on edge that you jump when you hear the sound of something heavy smack against the concrete floor back towards the entrance of the barn. You turn around to see Sam standing where the noise sounded, stepping over the case of beer he had just dropped.
“What’s going on?” he asks, looking perturbed as he makes his way towards you and Robert. The question is obviously rhetorical, you can tell he already knew exactly what was happening.
“Hey there Sammy, how are ya?” Robert greets anyway, nervously extending a handshake in an attempt to disregard what he was just doing.
Except Sam doesn’t accept his greeting, and instead shoves his forearm into the man’s chest, making him back against the glass door of the refrigerator. Robert grunts at the impact, immediately putting his hands up in surrender.
“Hey man, I wasn’t doing anything. I was just fixing her name tag,” he pleads, but his excuse sounds less than convincing.
“Don’t touch her,” Sam orders without even considering his explanation, his arm still firmly pressed against him. “You touch her again and I’ll fucking snap your neck, alright?”
Robert frantically nods his head in agreement.
“Say it, tell me you won’t touch her,” Sam demands louder, grabbing Robert by the collar of his shirt and shoving him even harder against the fridge.
“I won’t, I-I promise,” Robert stutters, eyes wide. “Just let go of me, please.”
After a moment Sam does let him go, and the man stumbles back to his cart, slamming his foot on the gas and careening back onto the course without another word.
You’re frozen in the same position that Robert had first touched you in, and you’re sure you look completely bewildered. Your ears are ringing, and your heart is still racing when you turn towards Sam who remains by the fridge to your right, though you’re too scared to look at him just yet.
“Y/N, I’m so sorry. Are you alright?” he asks after a moment, speaking in the softest and kindest voice he’s ever spoken to you in. You swallow hard.
“I’m okay, I think,” you whisper, finally looking up to meet his gaze. His expression is just as solemn as his voice, his eyes the warm honey you’ve only caught glimpses of before.
Something overcomes all of your senses, and before you even realize what you’re doing, you lunge towards Sam and embrace him, lacing your arms under his and squeezing his slender torso.
You feel him tense up at first, obviously shocked by the sudden contact, but you eventually feel his hands on your back. Your head rests against his chest, and you can hear that his heartbeat is going just as fast as yours. His hands begin to make small circular motions against you, and the comforting gesture eventually causes your eyes to well up with hot tears. You stand there for a moment, quietly sobbing into Sam’s chest. You’re so grateful that he happened to be there, and helped despite his own animosity towards you. You shudder at the thought of what the man might’ve done to you if he hadn’t. You realize after a moment that your tears are beginning to bleed onto Sam’s shirt.
“Fuck, my bad,” you choke out a laugh, lifting yourself from him and doing your best to rub them away.
“No, don’t worry about it,” he insists. “Do you want to go back to the office? I can drive your cart,” he suggests.
You quietly nod in agreement, sniffling as you follow him. You hop into the passengers side as Sam hits the gas to unlock the breaks, and the two of you head back to the clubhouse. The thought of Danny’s impending presence instantly makes you feel better.
~
“I’m calling HR, and he’s being fired immediately,” Danny states, his reaction to the event being exactly what you had expected. He’s a very calm person, sure to not ever cause a scene, but you recall his sternness when he first told you and the other cart girls about his zero tolerance policy when it came to harassment and any form of sexual misconduct. You knew he would stick to his word, and you are grateful for that.
“Thank you, Danny,” you croak as you sit in one of the office chairs, squeezing the clump of tissues that you had used to clean the streaks of black mascara from your tear soaked face. Your voice is still a little hoarse from crying.
“Of course, and thank you Sam for defending her. I’m sure Y/N could’ve beat his ass herself, but I’m glad you were there to help,” he replies, earning a laugh from the both of you. Judging by your lack of self defense in the situation, you aren’t confident in your ability to beat anyone’s ass anymore, but you still appreciate Danny’s support.
You look over at Sam and he meets your gaze, his expression still soft and genuine. You both exchange polite smiles. This had changed things between the two of you, you thought. You know it did.
“Well,” Danny sighs, finally standing up from his chair. “You guys can go home for the day if you would like, I got you both covered.”
You’re relieved to hear this, unsure of how you would manage going about working the rest of the day with your ruined makeup and killed spirit. All you want is to crawl into bed and sleep this day into a distant memory.
As you’re leaving, you hear Danny call out to Sam.
“Hey, I’ll be over when I’m off later. Jake and Josh want to go out tonight if you want to join,” he offers, exiting the office with him.
“Yeah man, you know I’m always down,” Sam replies cheerfully, the both of them turning the corner back to pro shop. You smile at the thought of what the two of them possibly get into after a few drinks.
~
After cashing out your tips, you make your way back to your car and you notice that Sam happens to be walking to his also. You think for a moment about whether or not you want to speak to him, to perhaps have a bit of a followup on the past hour the both of you have endured. You are still so surprised by how quick he was to get physical with Robert, and the thought of him doing all of that for you gave you a funny pit in your stomach. You aren’t sure how to feel about him anymore.
“Hey,” you eventually call out, and he turns around. You pause, suddenly a little nervous. “Can we talk?”
“Sure, hop in,” he replies without hesitation, nodding to his front seat. Your heart skips a beat, but you oblige, making your way to the passenger side.
The inside of his car smells like cigarettes and leather. He gets into the driver’s side and turns on the engine, immediately blasting the A/C and plugging in his phone to an aux cord. You get excited when you hear a Clapton song begin to play quietly.
“Thank you for helping me,” you start after settling in, your fingers nervously twiddling in your lap. “I don’t know what I would’ve done if you weren’t there. I was so scared, I was frozen still.” You meet his eyes before he drops his gaze to the steering wheel, giving a small smile.
“Of course, I’m glad I was there to stop him,” he replies. He then pauses for a moment, taking in a long breath. “And I’m sorry.”
“Sam, that wasn’t your fault, he’s just a creepy old-“ you start, but he politely puts up a hand to interject.
“I’m sorry about that too, of course, but that’s not what I meant.” He looks up at you and you can’t really read his expression. Sad? Or maybe nervous, but what could he be nervous about? He always acted so cocky and uptight around you, you had never seen him like this before. But then again, he’s been an entirely different person to you since confronting Robert. His eyebrows furrow slightly before continuing.
“I meant that I’m sorry for being such an asshole to you. I know I’ve given you a hard time since I’ve worked here, and that’s shitty of me. You don’t deserve it.”
You’re shocked by his words. Sam Kiszka, apologizing to you? You can’t believe it, and you’re sure your reaction is readable because Sam lets out a light cackle, another thing you had rarely witnessed him do around you. Your mouth is agape, but no words are coming out.
“Come on now, don’t act so struck. You’re really making me feel like a dick here,” he laughs, and this makes you roll your eyes.
“I mean, yeah, you are a dick to me. Like holy shit, do you know how many times you’ve almost made me cry?” you finally say, which causes Sam to stop laughing.
“Fuck, Y/N. I’m sorry,” he responds, his demeanor immediately changing. For some reason, it amuses you.
You shrug before shoving his shoulder playfully.
“I never let you get to me, though. I just wrote you off as being jealous,” you laugh.
“Jealous of what, looking good in a skirt?” he asks, his cheeky smile returning. Your eyebrows raise at his comment.
“You think I look good in my skirt?” you repeat, your heart fluttering.
“Sure you do, my legs could never compare,” he laughs. You feel your cheeks getting hot, the thought of him in a skirt entirely too much.
“Well, you can look all you want, but don’t go touching me like that other bastard,” you warn, though you are obviously joking. You’ve always been the type to use humor as a coping mechanism.
“Oh, I would never,” Sam assures, and you can tell he really means it. “Absolutely fuck that guy.”
“Yeah, fuck him” you agree, sighing as you slump into the seat. Neither of you say anything for a moment.
“Did you ever finish that cigarette?” you eventually ask, lifting your head towards him.
“No actually, Danny never let me get the chance,” he sighs. “And I was going to after running a few beer cases to the coolers for him, but I obviously became preoccupied.” The sound of the large case smacking against the floor earlier echoes back into your mind.
“Well, wanna split one?” you suggest, and his eyes light up.
“I didn’t know you smoked,” he replies, promptly lifting from his seat to pull out the pack from his back pocket.
“There’s a lot of things you don’t know about me, Kiszka,” you assure him.
“Oh, is that so?” he teases, lighting the cigarette and handing it to you, before opening a window to air out the smoke. You respond with a laugh.
You admittedly only smoke cigarettes when you’re drinking, but with the day you just had, you’re craving a relief. He hands the cigarette to you and you take a long drag, enjoying the slight burning sensation that it makes in your lungs. You also roll down your window, before releasing the smoke into the air.
You both sit quietly in the car for a few minutes as the cigarette begins to dwindle, enjoying each other’s presence for once as the music continues to play. You’re surprised at how similar your music tastes are, the sound of Jimi Hendrix’s weeping guitar sending you into a state of bliss. For a moment you wish the cigarette was a joint, knowing very well that Sam also partook by his cackle laugh and often heavy eyelids, but that obviously would not be smart to do in the parking lot of your workplace. You still can’t believe you’re sitting in his car.
“Hey, would you maybe want to come out with me and Danny tonight?” Sam asks after the song ends, his words once again taking you by utter surprise.
“Really?” you ask, maybe a little too excitedly.
“Yeah, it’ll be fun. My brothers will be there too,” he adds, and you recall him and Danny discussing their plans for the night earlier. You had met Josh and Jake a few times when they had joined the other two for golf. You remember them being quite pleasant, though one time Josh nearly sent their cart into a creek after having a few too many tequila shots. You simply can’t pass up the opportunity to witness whatever was about to go down tonight.
“I would love to,” you reply through a blushed smile.
“Great,” Sam seems to mirror your excitement, informing you of the time and place to be. It’s a dive bar conveniently just a few blocks from your place, and you plan to meet them there at 8 o’clock.
Tossing the now dead cigarette butt out of the window, you open the door to Sam’s car.
“Well, thanks for the cig. See you at 8,” you call out, turning around to peer at him through the still open window as you walk away.
“See you,” he calls back, and your heart flutters once more.
You head towards your car across the lot, entranced in thought. You had really gone from hating Sam’s existence, to agreeing to go drinking with him, all in the span of a day. You laugh to yourself at the strange series of events, looking forward to whatever the night had to bring.

If There’s a Place I Could Be - Chapter Twenty Four
If There’s a Place I Could Be Tag
May 5th, 2000
Emile redid his tie for the ten thousandth time, setting it flat against his chest and fiddling with the end of it. He knew he looked good enough, but he was still worried. When he walked downstairs, his mother fawned over him. “Oh, you look so handsome, Emile!” she exclaimed. “Absolutely perfect for prom!”
“Thanks, Mom,” Emile said with a sheepish, mildly flustered smile.
She drove him out to the hotel that was hosting the party, and Emile grinned when he saw his date waiting for him under the awning. Charlie was in the closet to his parents, still, so they couldn’t arrive together, but they were definitely each other’s dates and no one else’s. Emile gave Charlie a quick peck on the lips and asked, “You ready?”
“Let’s dance,” Charlie said with an eager smile.
  April 3rd, 2001
Emile was impossibly proud of himself. Not only had he managed to acquire a date with Remy, but he had managed to keep a majority of the contents a surprise. He drove Remy to the minigolf course with a grin of his face. When Remy saw where they had pulled up, he whistled. “Emile, are you trying to ruin our friendship? Minigolf never ends well for anyone involved.”
“You’ve never played minigolf with me,” Emile said, laughing. “I guarantee you I can make it fun, and still kick your butt.”
Remy stared at Emile in shock before popping the collar on his leather jacket. “Okay, you’re on.”
Emile grinned and paid for both of them to play. Remy protested but Emile wouldn’t budge. “It’s my treat, Rem,” he insisted. “No reason to kick up a fuss, because I’m not changing my mind.”
Remy stared at Emile for a long second before he picked out a golf ball and putter. “Oh, fine,” he said. “But if we do anything like this again, I’m paying, understood?”
“Absolutely,” Emile said, with a playful salute.
Remy laughed and shook his head. “You’re such a dork!” Remy exclaimed as they moved from the entrance towards the first hole.
“Maybe so, but that’s one of my best qualities!” Emile said with a grin. Remy laughed and shook his head. “Do you want to go first or should I?” Emile asked.
“You paid for this thing, I’m not letting you wait for a turn,” Remy said. “You go first.”
“Okay, okay,” Emile laughed, placing his ball on the tee and carefully hitting it towards the hole. He wound up about an inch away and he staggered back, making gagging sounds. “Oh, no, I’m dead! My reputation as a good minigolf player is ruined! I’m dead!”
That had the desired effect of getting Remy to laugh. “Don’t worry, I won’t tell anyone,” he said in a stage whisper.
Emile grinned as Remy took his first shot, which was a little too far to the left of the hole. Emile got his in the hole in two, Remy in three. Their conversations were mostly consisting of laughter and Emile over-dramatizing every single shot while Remy just laughed and called him a dork every time.
They got to the dreaded windmill hole and Emile whistled. “This one is tough, no matter what course you go to,” he said.
“Tell me about it,” Remy said. “I had the biggest problems with these as a kid. You get it in the windmill, it’s as good as a hole-in-one, but you don’t, and it takes you four more strokes to get it in the hole.”
“And that’s provided the shot doesn’t land you right back at the tee where you started,” Emile said sagely.
Remy turned to him with a laugh. “Get out. That happened to you?!”
“Several times,” Emile said with a laugh. “I’d go to the beach with my parents as a kid, and they’d have minigolf places by the dozens. Not many of them had windmills, but the ones that did were vicious courses.”
Remy squinted. “Is this hole where our friendship ends?” he asked. “Did you get good at the windmill holes?”
“It’s been a while since I’ve done minigolf,” Emile said. “But yes, I did learn the trick for most windmills. But I can tell you the secret, if you want?”
“Please?” Remy asked.
“Okay, you see how fast the windmill is going? It’s not super quick, right?” Emile asked.
“Right,” Remy said, brows furrowing as he looked at Emile.
“Well, you don’t want to hit the ball super hard, because you’ll lose control of the direction.” Emile pulled his golf ball out of his pocket and placed it on the tee. “Based on the speed of the ball I’ve seen on the other holes, and the speed of the blades, if you hit the ball with a normal amount of force, it should pass through the blades unharmed if you hit the ball about halfway between the blade coming down to cover the hole.”
“Let’s put your theory to the test then,” Remy said with a slight smirk. “Care to make a friendly wager?”
“I’m listening,” Emile said with a grin. He doubted Remy would do something like bet a kiss, not on a first date, but his bets were always interesting.
“If you’re right about your theory, and your ball passes through the windmill with no problems, you can pay for whatever you decide we’re getting for dinner and I won’t kick up a fuss, since it’s clear you want everything to be your treat tonight. But if you’re wrong, I get to argue for the right to pay for dinner, and I pay for a scoop of ice cream for each of us before we head to dinner, because I saw they sell scoops here and I’m a sucker for a good ice cream cone,” Remy said.
“Oh, the stakes are high!” Emile said, laughing. “All right, you’re on! And just to sweeten the deal, I’ll pay for ice cream once we’re done if I win the bet, since you said something.”
“I knew I should have just said I’d pay for half of dinner,” Remy said. “Fine. The bet’s on.”
Emile lined up his shot, waited, just to make sure the speed of the windmill stayed the same, pulled the putter back...and hit the ball.
They both watched intently as the ball rolled up to the windmill. The blade came down over the hole...the ball kept rolling closer...and just as the last of the blade moved to reveal the hole in the windmill, the ball rolled up and into the passageway. Remy’s jaw dropped and both of them ran around to the other side. The ball was heading into the dip in the turf, closer, closer...and it was in. “Hole in one!” Emile cheered, throwing his free hand up in the air. “I’m paying!”
Remy shook his head in disbelief. “Okay, I gotta try that trick,” he said, moving back to the tee. Emile retrieved his ball and wrote down his score, watching at the edge of the hole as Remy lined up his shot, hit the ball, and just barely got it into the windmill before the blade passed. But the ball rolled into the dip dutifully, and circled the hole, before falling in. Emile whistled. “Way to go, Rem! You got a hole in one too!”
“Yeah, thanks for that little trick,” Remy said grabbing his ball and walking with Emile to the next hole. “That’s good to know about this course, even if it doesn’t apply to others.”
“Eh, it takes a lot of trial and error, most of the time,” Emile said. “After a while, you grow to predict how much force and time you need, on any course, not just the one you learned on.”
“Huh,” Remy said. “Good to know, I guess.”
“I know, you’re probably wondering about the real-life applications about being able to accurately predict how hard to hit a golf ball on a minigolf course,” Emile laughed. “There’s isn’t much of one, but it’s fun to know on the rare occasions that you do go minigolf-ing.”
Remy chuckled and Emile grinned. This was fun. He was having a fun time. He was on a date with Remy and having a good time, and no one was taking below the belt shots, or making any jokes in poor taste, or anything like that. Emile was pleasantly surprised. Remy didn’t seem to be purposefully being on his best behavior...this just seemed to be how he behaved normally.
Maybe Emile had misjudged exactly how much Remy had grown. He was surprised. Pleasantly surprised, to be sure, but surprised nonetheless. They continued to make their way through the minigolf course, and when they reached the final hole, Emile shared a look with Remy. “You ready for this?” he asked. “Because once we pass this hole I’m buying you ice cream and dinner.”
Remy groaned, but he was smiling as Emile lined up his shot. It swung a little wide to the right, and Remy took his turn, getting a hole in one with a cheer. Emile grinned and marked it down on their scorecard, before getting his ball in the hole with a second stroke.
They returned the golf clubs and Emile bought them each a scoop of ice cream from the vendor by the entrance. Remy shook his head. “You know you didn’t have to insist on getting me 'Rocky Road.' I would have been just as happy with vanilla, and that’s a little cheaper."
Emile took a bite from his chocolate ice cream with a smile. “But I wanted to make sure you got what you wanted,” he said. “You deserve to get something you would enjoy!”
Remy shook his head. “Emile, that’s sweet of you, but really. You can’t just pay for everything whenever you want.”
“You’re right,” Emile said. “And next time we go out you can pay. But for now, I’m buying us this night out.”
Remy shook his head but didn’t argue further, and they finished their ice cream, before Emile drove them to Remy’s favorite pizza place in town. Remy scoffed as they pulled up. “You know, Emile, if I didn’t know any better I would say you like me, taking me all these places.”
Emile laughed genuinely at that. Remy really knew how to make him laugh. “Come on, let’s just go inside and eat,” Emile said.
They got out of his car and got a small table for two near the back of the restaurant. Emile wanted to make a move, but he also didn’t want to spook Remy, so he restrained himself to just smiling frequently and making puns about the pizzas they served. Remy rolled his eyes at every last pun, but he chuckled at a few of them, too.
When their pizza came out, pepperoni on one half and veggie lover’s on the other, Emile quickly took a piece of pepperoni to keep himself occupied. He didn’t want to start blabbering nervously, not when the date had gone this well so far.
Remy was chewing on a piece of veggie lover’s, and Emile knew he was making heart eyes, but he couldn’t stop. Remy looked up and noticed, turning pink. “What?” he asked.
“It’s nothing,” Emile said, looking away and blushing.
“No it’s not, tell me,” Remy said.
Emile shifted in his seat. “I’m just...really glad that you agreed to come out tonight with me.”
Remy chewed the piece of the pizza currently in his mouth, swallowed, and said, “That’s gay, Emile.”
Emile burst out laughing, and a few of the other customers sent him dirty looks. He was left wheezing in his seat as he said, “Yeah, I guess it is.”
The sun had set by the time they had finished their pizza, and Emile and Remy walked back to Emile’s car in companionable silence. When they got in and Emile started to drive, Remy hummed. “Tonight was fun,” he said simply.
“Yeah, I agree,” Emile said. “We should do it again, sometime.”
“Definitely,” Remy said.
Emile’s heart soared. Remy liked the date! He said he would go on another one! This was a rousing success! Emile grinned as he drove. “I’m glad you agree,” he said at Remy’s questioning look.
“Ah,” Remy said. “Well, of course I do. After all, this isn’t something you do just any night, you know? It’s special.”
Emile smiled softly. “Yeah, but it’s a good kind of special.”
“Definitely a good kind of special,” Remy agreed.
When they got back to their apartment, Emile hovered by the doorway as they walked in. What did he do? He didn’t want to scare Remy with a kiss, but he didn’t want to just retreat to his room without saying or doing anything else, either. “...Hug?” he eventually asked.
“Sure,” Remy said, frowning.
Emile hugged Remy tight and when he broke apart, he smiled softly. “I really enjoyed tonight,” he repeated. “Night, Remy.”
And with that, he left a very bewildered Remy so he could get ready to go to bed.

Benjamin, there are already some sustainable brands in the market. Why do you feel the need to create another brand? And what is the difference between Sanvt and a brand like Armedangels? Personally, I believe that there should be no brands today that at least are not geared towards more sustainability. At Sant, however, we feel the need for a brand to bridge the gap between sustainability, high quality, and affordable prices. Armedangels is a great example of a brand that pushes the traditional image of fashion to be sustainably produced in a more modern approach. But after all, it is still a fairly common business model! and Camping Starry Night And Into The Forest To Lose My Mind And Find My Soul T Shirt: seasonal products, based on short fashion trends. We want to go one step further and deliver significantly longer timeless products while feeling great. A prime example here is our perfect T-shirt made from super-long cotton. Here, we decided against organic cotton, Lyocell, or other widely used eco-fibers because we couldn’t get the level of quality, and therefore we were looking for. In this way, we also want our customers to appreciate the real value of clothing again and set an example by challenging fast-paced fashion consumption habits. It sounds paradoxical, but basically, we want people to buy less, but better clothes.

According to research by Greenpeace, each German has an average of 95 items of clothing. How many pieces do you think should be in your closet? How many garments do you own? Ha! How to Steal the Show This Summer for Men? Summer is formally around the corner and also this is the correct time to buy trendy summer season to stay comfy and elegant. Whether you intend to add classic
basics in your wardrobe or you intend to defeat the heat with style, there are numerous important to take the program this summertime. If you do not desire to mistakenly dress up for task and likewise not sink in a swimming pool of sweat then you are reading the best blog post. Adhering to are the
fundamentals in which you can invest to look and feel amazing in the summer season as well as beyond.
What colors you should go with in the summer season? Summertime period is whatever regarding shades as well as patterns. Even if you aren't one that generally puts on a lot of tones, you can easily "Summarize" your
garments utilizing my "Lighter in weight in addition to more vivid" strategy. Like setups on your T.V., appear the lighting of your necessary core shades. You do not call for wearing pink as well as additionally yellow if you want to look Summery. Choose a lighter color of core neutrals like blue, lighter olives, lighter
browns, and light grey color. This basic switch will be your summertime base tones for natural leather patch hat CUSTOM PATCHES. If you prefer, after that toss some
brighter shades and patterns in addition to that.
Just how to fit your garments in the summer season? Summer season is among minority times where it's best to relax your fit a little. Believe worrying just how men in warm Middle Eastern nations outfit: It's usually
loosened, moving garments as well as additionally robes in breathable, light custom-made embroidered hats materials. The method is to try to find products that are
categorized "relaxed cut", which is various from measuring.
The Best Fabrics & Colors for Summertime The tactic to set up the ideal summer storage room boils down to three factors. The appropriate breathable textiles for the summertime period are the cotton and also
bed linen. Lots of individuals do not recognize every period has its own seasonally ideal textiles in addition to textile weights. Summertime season weight textiles will
definitely be lighter, with looser weaves allowing warmth that aids to leave warmness as well as likewise keep you cool like custom embroidered hats. Here are the a
lot more common summer products you need to watch out for.
- Cotton. No one can refute the fact that cotton is the most effective summertime materials to defeat the warmth. This is the major reason the majority of our summertime
season products are made up of pure cotton or cotton blends, consisting of cotton-linen as well as cotton-silk. In short, cotton is versatile and incredibly breathable.
Many thanks to the tighter weave, it wrinkles less than looser weave materials like linen. T shirts, like golf shirts, golf shirt in addition to tees. Trousers like dress
trousers, shorts, blues jeans, and also chinos pants. Cotton is likewise best for summer period sports matches and additionally layers with traditional staples such as
natural leather spot hat custom-made.
- Linen. Bed Linen is the Queen if cotton is King. Linen is made from the flax plant along with is a normal summertime season selection of cotton. That indicates anywhere
you'll locate cotton (button-up t-shirts, tees, shorts, likewise suits) you'll locate a bedding variant. Why this is an excellent summertime season material: Bed linen textiles have a more open weave, permitting even more heat to escape along with air to undergo. This
breathability is the lifesaver in warm, damp months. Bedding frequently gets crap due to the reality that it wrinkles easily. Due to the fact that of the lighter open
weave, this is. To navigate this, you'll frequently find blends like cotton/linen so you can take advantage of linen's breathability, nevertheless cotton's framework. Directly, I see harsh linen as a pro, adding to the much more comfy nature of summertime design. Bedding that wrinkles much more suggests the premium-quality
linen. A lot more budget-friendly linens frequently tend to be stiffer and crease in contrast to curtain as well as crease. You can likewise opt for a good-quality wrinkle-free bedding items for this summer season. T shirts, golf tees, polo shirts as well as likewise tie-die tee t shirts. It is also
suitable for custom-made embroidered hats, pants such as chinos, shorts, and likewise jeans.
- Light-Weight Wools. When I select a woollen trouser for their summertime storage rooms, my special clients are usually puzzled in the start. Like cotton, there are lightweight woolen
basics that are developed to be put on in the summer season. Unique woolens are exceptional for matching when you want to look refined. Their tighter weaves
suggest they wrinkle less than bedding matchings. Why this is an amazing summertime period fabric: For those that call for placing on a fit or sports jackets to the workplace, or simply appreciate the look for official
clothes, tropical woolens are your friend. Hopsack sports coats, natural leather spot hat custom in addition to match Exotic woollen customized trousers.
- Artificial & Blends. Synthetics normally get a poor rap. Fabric modern technology has in fact dramatically boosted given that the rayon days of your Dad. Why artificial fibers are excellent
for summer season: You'll often locate blended different other materials like cotton, offering it a softer, silkier feel. Among my preferred shorts is a mix. As well as on
truly gross summer days, I like tossing it in the refrigerator freezer to make it added cool. Some are blended with cotton for dress shirts, tee t-shirts, in addition to golf
shirt. Mixed with sheets for ventilated, kicked back trousers, custom-made stitched hats and also shorts.

Funny How Things Work Out
By ED TRAVIS
Those of us who play golf for the fun of it sometimes wish we could use our Visa card to fix our game not to mention filling in any gaps due to a deficit of talent.
Rather than beating balls on the range or spending hours on the putting green it would be a lot easier to “buy a game.” Just stop in the local golf shop and pick up the latest and greatest carbon-titanium-steel-graphite driver or plumber’s neck-mini-mallet-blade putter. The only problem then becomes keeping the secret from the brother-in-law so Saturday’s $10 Nassau would be a sure thing.
Ideally, our clubs should help rather than hurt our chances of scoring somewhere near our potential. Unfortunately, as with a lot of things, the real-world intervenes and it’s not just the time constraints of our busy lives that clearly puts the task of evaluating clubs in the “unsuited for the uninitiated” category. There is also the feeling one may need a PhD to figure out all the esoteric and often mysterious differences in clubs which assuredly shoves the solution way beyond those of us in the deskbound office brigade.
Let me tell you a story to prove the point.
Living in Florida where 75 million annually vacation provides lots of opportunity to golf with a cross section of fellow strugglers and one afternoon the starter matched me up with a typical husband and wife escaping from the bleakness of a Midwestern winter.
Both were experienced players and the wife, back into the game after a hiatus to raise a couple of kids, teed it up regularly with a group of “girls” at the club back home. Her husband, the quintessential mid-level executive weekend warrior, had a pronounced left to right ball flight which probably meant his favorite courses were not ones with trees lining the left side of the fairway. They were nice people and enjoyable companions for the few hours it takes for this maddening game.
While waiting on the par-3 third hole husband noted my bag had clubs from seven different manufacturers and asked, “What’s that all about?”
The simple explanation was seven manufacturers because the company who made the longest-straightest driver for my swing did not have an iron model that produced the best distance and control. Similar computerized shot analysis sessions put two other wedge brands, a fifth company’s fairway wood and a sixth’s hybrid in my bag. The choice of putter, from still another manufacturer, had been the computer’s second selection since the first choice was distinctly unappealing; in fact if you can picture an ungainly lump on the end of a shaft you would have the idea. Given my decades of playing and writing about the game the importance of custom clubs was beyond question as was the need to reevaluate specifications every couple of years.
The critical point is as we age our swing changes, especially the speed we can generate, and that necessitates changes in our clubs. In my case I now walk right past the “tips” heading for two tees forward and depending on how the body is feeling on any given day, maybe three. This isn’t a complaint simply a realistic assessment by a someone who can no longer play at the level to which he was accustom.
Getting back to our friends and the husband’s question, he told me that back home only a few of his buddies had been through a fitting (most likely the ones worried about that $10 brother-in-law Nassau) but he readily understood the idea of carrying clubs to help not hurt his game.
He even agreed the fee paid to a professional clubfitter makes sense when viewed as a modest investment in your future enjoyment of the game and the question of finding a professional clubfitter was answered by a quick smartphone consultation. There was one less than 10 miles from his home.
At the end of the round we exchanged business cards and promised to stay in touch, but in my mind I’d let a week or so go by and then send an email prompting him about a club fitting appointment.
The temptation was also there to mention how much more his wife would enjoy playing with him if he didn’t offer advice and tips after each swing but then having travelled that particular road myself I figured he could learn to navigate the potholes himself.
Interestingly, while husband was off in the palmettos attempting a recovery from another boomerang-shaped drive, his wife she asked if a fitting would make sense for her. Though we had played only a few holes it was apparent with her basic swing and better than average short game she had the potential to score much lower. After surveying her bag, it was obvious a fitting would help.
Out of curiosity I inquired where she had gotten the stiff shafted irons and steel headed driver, but the reply did not surprise me. When she started playing again husband came home with this bunch of beauties and a, “Here honey, play with these.” He must have gotten a heck of a deal but at least the bag and headcovers were a matching mauve.
This is important. Do not let a friend dictate or even gently steer you toward something they like. The corollary of course is trying your buddy’s new driver and absolutely striping it one time does not mean you’ve found the answer to the maiden’s prayer. Do not stop on the way home to get one just like it ‘cause chances are that one driver swing was the golf gremlins messin’ with you.
Also be cautious of being fit by someone who sells a single brand or a limited number of brands. The truth is even the most knowledgeable best-intentioned fitter can only fit you to the driver or irons for which he has samples. You will never get the chance to try the perfect club if it is not in the shop.
But getting back to the story, a couple of weeks later the husband sent an email saying he had been to the fitting and how surprised he was the club specs had changed starting with a swing weight. Rather than the graphite shafted ultra-lights he had been playing his new clubs were a heavier D-3 swing weight and the driver had a strong draw bias to help straighten out his slice.
His excitement was evident. Another Florida visit had been planned but the timing coincided with the PGA Merchandise Show, so I missed seeing him however a few days after the Show another email arrived.
This one was from the wife, and she was over the moon, writing she had been fitted for clubs as well and also made the trip south. Both of them were happy with the “instant” improvement—hitting the ball farther and straighter. Best of all, she confided, there’s no doubt in her mind she can take her husband on in a $10 Nassau straight up.
Funny how things work out.

waiting game | Ethan Ramsey x MC
AN - Literally couldn’t get this oneshot out of my head last night, so therefore I spent most of my last day off before Easter Hell Week writing it out. Because of course, why not? WC 3701 There’s a special place in hell for Harper Emery.
It’s the fourth time the phrase has entered his head, but it hasn’t lost the fire behind it. He’s the leader of one of the country’s best diagnostics teams, he’s done a few tours with Doctors Without Borders. Last year, he even went back home for Christmas dinner with a family who would honestly rather receive more postcards from Mozambique in lieu of seeing him in person.
And yet, this is possibly the most stressful thing Ethan’s ever dealt with. Wading through feces and garbage in a rural country would be more preferable at this point.
The event room around him is gilded to the tee. Every table is draped in the finest cloth, the silverware sparkling in the light of the chandeliers, the plates filled with the highest quality catering. Extravagant centerpieces explode from the center of the tables, white orchids and white hydrangeas and white lilies spilling out from crystal vases. Some type of curly branch winds up toward the ceiling, breaking up the overwhelming glare of white.
In the beginning, he tried to position himself just so, hoping the floral arrangement would hide him. Sitting down only served to make him an easy target, though, where any of the sharks could circle his table and feast upon him at will.
Glancing down at the scotch in his hand, he wonders how many more metaphors he can make before he has to cut himself off.
His current strategy is to keep moving, keeping himself between them with large, immovable objects. He learned his lesson with George Kadinskee, who shoved a table and chairs out of the way to get to him. It’s like being in a furniture store or a car dealership, watching the sales people discreetly chase after him.
It’s all rather pathetic (and childish) of him, but he didn’t become a doctor to get hounded by insurance reps. And yet, here he was at a Banner Health function on a Friday evening, dressed in one of his finest suits, waiting for the earth to swallow him up.
He really just wants to go home to his dog and a documentary.
“Doctor Ramsey!” a voice calls from behind him.
Allotting himself a wince and a sip of his drink in preparation, he sucks in a breath and straightens his spine. It’s a good thing, too, because when he turns around he needs to cling to all the composure he can.
“Rookie,” he greets, taking another sip to wet his dry mouth, “what are you doing here?”
Sloane raises an eyebrow at his tone, but doesn’t comment on it.
“Doctor Emery invited me. She said that the hospital could use some... younger representation.”
It’s his turn to shoot her a look.
“Are you calling me old?”
“I think the polite term is ‘experienced’ now,” she responds with that low, pretty laugh of hers.
He doesn’t choke on his drink, but it’s a damn near thing. “I’m sorry I’m late, though,” she continues, saving him from responding, “I had to get cleaned up and get all…” she trails off, waving a hand over her ensemble. “And my post-op was having some complications. I wanted to stick around until he got settled.”
Clinging to the life-raft of shop talk she’s handed him, he asks her about the patient, relieved when he catches the glint in her eyes, that bright flicker of discussing something she loves. Hospital talk saves him from making the inevitable ‘you look nice’ comment, which would be a paltry choice of words. She looks absolutely gorgeous, wearing a royal purple gown with a deep vee neckline. The material looks soft to the touch, the rich color complementing the russet shade of her hair. She normally wears it up, but it’s nice to see it down. His eyes follow the soft curls to the waist of her dress, where a section of thin lace does little to cover her pale skin, before the rest of the skirt continues down.
“You should go get us another round.” At her stilted tone, he glances at the half-finished glasses they both hold.
“Why?” he drags the word out, blaming the alcohol for how playful it sounds.
“Because there’s a middle-aged man that’s been eyeing you across the room for the past two minutes.”
He’s definitely blaming the next sentence out of his mouth on the alcohol.
“Are you sure he isn’t eyeing you?”
Something akin to delight crosses her face, before she breaks into a chuckle and shakes her head.
“Oh, no, trust me. He’s definitely been admiring your backside this entire time, not mine.”
Ethan pointedly keeps his eyes up, because he’s a grown adult, and shouldn’t be tempted with the idea of admiring hers. (He’s done so before, but only from the comfort of the nurses’ station, and only when she’s distracted enough not to catch him. He is a grown adult, after all.)
“Does he look like he plays golf instead of attending mandatory meetings?”
“Oh, yeah,” she nods, her gaze narrowing just beyond his left shoulder. “And his idea of a good time is yelling at wait staff.”
He chuckles at the matter-of-fact tone.
“You can tell that from across the room?”
“I waited tables in the Upper East Side in college. A sizable chunk of my debt is from buying new white button-downs when people like him threw food at me. I can read people like him a mile away.” Her eyes widen when she adds in a rush, “And he’s headed this way. Here!”
He takes the glass she all but shoves at him, steps around her, and tucks himself into the crowd hovering around the bar. Chancing a glance back, he sees her intercept George with an enthusiastic handshake. He watches as she lets herself be pulled out to sea into the awaiting sharks.
+
The bar takes longer than anticipated, but Ethan manages to secure two fresh drinks (and seven new business cards, which he will promptly throw in the recycling bin when he gets home). Fifteen minutes is a long time in the world of work functions, though, and he has lost sight of Sloane by the time he makes it back to the dining area. Across the ballroom, a live band has replaced the jazz playlist, and couples are moving across the dance floor.
Scanning the crowd, he finally spots a flash of purple, then a curtain of red flickering between bodies. She’s dancing with Anthony Fenton, Banner’s HR assistant and owner of three Teslas, which Ethan only knows because Anthony told him four times within their twenty-minute conversation earlier.
The song that’s playing crescendos, then eases down, the couples slowing as it peters out to a calmer song. Anthony’s hand moves from her waist to the small of her back, gathering her close to sway with her. Sloane settles a hand onto his chest, pushing back to make some space between their bodies.
It’s funny, because Ethan doesn’t see the venue change the lighting, but everything goes red for a moment.
He moves closer to the dance floor, trying not to feel like a chaperone at a school dance. Sloane is an adult, and a smart one at that, and is capable of making her own decisions. So, if she wants to dance with annoying assistants, or flirt with visiting paramedics or the other diagnostic interns, then she’s perfectly free to do so.
It doesn’t matter to him at all. (It does.)
He’s glad he’s watching them, though, because he gets to see the moment Sloane notices him. It’s been a few months since she started at Edenbrook, but it still gives him that same little thrill, that bite of pleasure, when she comes across him in the hallway, or in the cafeteria, or at Donahue’s, and he gets to watch her face light up.
“S.O.S.!” she mouths, begging for a save.
After she rescued him from George, he can’t just leave her to fend for herself, right?
Setting the drinks down on a nearby table, Ethan moves through the dancers with ease and sidles up to tap Sloane on the shoulder.
“May I have this dance, Doctor McTavish?”
She unwraps herself from Anthony and takes his offered hand within the span of one beat. Ethan thinks he mutters a dismissal to Anthony, but isn’t entirely sure about it.
Because he clearly didn’t think this part through. Enjoying Sloane from a permitted distance was one thing, but having her in his arms is a whole different ball game. He wonders if she can feel his heightened pulse where her hand grips his. (She can’t -- her fingers aren’t on his pulse point, but the curve of her lips says otherwise.)
They move in tandem with the crowd, more swaying than actual dancing. The music is just low enough for murmured conversation, which Sloane starts up with a suggestion of turning his people-watching skills on the dancers around them.
He points out the divorcees, the slackers, the ones that should be promoted and the ones that should be demoted. They bicker about an older couple near the very edge (she thinks they’re married, he thinks they’re just business partners). The current song slows and the two men in question share a gentle kiss, the shorter nuzzling the taller’s chest.
He runs out of observations soon after, too caught up in his private thoughts about the woman in his arms to spin any more yarn.
“Wouldn’t you normally bring a date to a function like this?” she asks, honest curiosity in her voice.
He deploys his best weapon: deflection.
“Couldn’t I ask the same of you?”
She hums, tipping her head to the side as if in agreement. The action sends a cascade of curls to lay against her neck, that floral perfume of hers hitting him again.
“To be fair, I did ask someone, but he works fourth shift tonight and couldn’t make it.”
His brain doesn’t know how to handle that information; he gets a wave of disappointment that she tried to bring a date, then gets another wave of admonishment at himself for wanting her all to himself.
“You wouldn’t want to put anyone through this schmooze-fest, anyway,” he reasons.
“You’re right,” she says. “In the twenty minutes you were hiding at the bar, I was offered to go on three company cruises and seven golf trips. And I’m pretty sure one of those was a combination of the two.”
Ethan makes a face at the idea of a golf-cruise combo.
“I was not hiding. They only have two bartenders working for a full venue.”
“Your mouth is moving, but all I’m hearing are excuses, Ramsey,” she chides with a grin.
The tempo of the song they’re dancing to swells. Neither say anything, but both seem to know exactly what to do. He drops his hand from her waist and twirls her out, her dress floating out into the open space with her, before she comes back into his arms, holding tight to his hand.
There’s a callous on her right ring finger, resting just below the nail, from the way she holds her pen at work. The perfume he detected before drifts up to him, stronger now that her body has heated up. He spots the flush that blooms across her chest and neck, a result of the swing music the band has started up.
He does not consider what it would be like to lay his lips there at the base of her throat and have a taste of her, to see if that pretty flush of hers would follow the trail of his lips.
“Let’s get some air,” he suggests, once the song is over and Sloane is panting from exertion and he is not thinking about other ways she could become breathless in his presence.
More dancers have joined the floor since they did, making their path out difficult. Ethan puts a hand on the small of her back, keeping her close to his side as they maneuver their way out of the crowd. Her skin is pleasantly warm under his fingers and covered in a light sheen of sweat from their activities and the close quarters of the dance floor.
She heads for the open balcony across the way and he follows, a moth drawn to her flame.
+
Outside, the city stretches out before them. To the south, Back Bay is a faint glow, leading the eye to continue left, where downtown shines bright. Cars are small dots of light underneath them, moving right and left, heading in and out of the city. Just on the edge of the balcony, Longfellow Bridge casts out into the darkness of the river. Despite the heat of the day, the cool night air rushes up to meet them.
Ethan catches Sloane rubbing her arms to keep herself warm and gives her his suit jacket to combat the cold. She tries to protest, but he silences her with another look, and helps her slip into it.
“My dad used to be the handyman for the local hospital where I grew up,” she tells him as she moves to stand at the edge. “During Christmas, they’d put these trees on top of the roofs, and he’d take me and my brother up there every year. It was only five stories high, but to us, it might as well have been the Empire State Building.”
“That sounds nice.”
She tears her gaze from the view over to him. He resists the urge to straighten his shoulders, suddenly feeling as if he’s been appraised.
“It was.” She seems to shift, as if deciding something unknown, and smirks up at him. “And then, you know, I was sixteen and wanted to impress a girl, so I stole my dad’s keys and took her up there with some hot cocoa and Bailey’s and one thing led to another…” she tips her head to the side again, laughing when he clears his throat.
“Well,” he starts, then realizes he has nothing to say to that (at least nothing that won’t seem like he’s offering to perform a reenactment out on this very public balcony with her), so he tries again. “Well.”
Nope, he’s got nothing.
Sloane takes pity on him and reaches out, patting him on his arm that rests next to hers on the railing.
“I’m glad I came,” she says, her face turned towards the open air. “I had a good time.”
“Despite Anthony and his two Teslas?” he can’t help but tease.
“Don’t forget his third one, though, back at his house in the Hampton’s.”
“Ah, of course. How could I have forgotten.” Finishing his scotch, he charges ahead: “I’m glad you came, too.”
He’s very glad he limited his alcohol intake, because when Sloane turns to smile at him, he can’t help but note that her eyes rival the sparkle of the city. And if he’d been drunk, he might’ve actually told her that.
Instead, he offers his arm. “I think we’ve made a sufficient appearance. We should be able to escape from captivity now.”
Sloane sets her empty glass on a nearby table and links her arm through hers.
“If I’d had another three of these, I’d make a tiger noise right now.”
“Well, thank god for that.”
They make it to the elevator and down to the front lobby of the hotel without any incident. They, of course, have an argument at the curb about her borrowing his jacket for her trip home, since she forgot to bring a coat in her rush to get to the function.
“Here, at least let me get you a Lyft,” he offers as he hands off his ticket to the valet.
“Oh, no, that’s too much. It’s a nice night, despite the wind.” She slips free of his jacket, handing it back to him. “It’s only a few minutes from here to the T.”
“How far do you live from here?”
She glances back to the street, as if checking for something, before she answers, “I’m all the way across town, over near Fan Pier Park.”
He goes over her route home, recalling that the closest station to her is back on this side of the channel. Which means she’ll have to walk at least ten minutes to get home after her stop, all alone on a Friday night. “Don’t worry,” she continues, as if that’ll stop him, “I do it every night. We’re not that far from the hospital right now, and I make that walk at all hours of the evening.”
You’re usually with your roommates, he wants to point out.
She’s already angling her body towards the street, readying to make her journey home. “I’ll be okay, Ethan.”
“I’ll drive you home.”
“You live in the heart of downtown. You could throw a rock and hit City Hall.”
“It’s… on my way.”
He gets another eyebrow raise for that lie.
“It’s not even remotely on your way. You’d have to backtrack.”
“Barely over a mile. That’s not the end of the world.”
“Doctor Ramsey--” she tries, but the valet interrupts their argument, waving over to where another woman has brought his car around.
“Come on, McTavish.” He doesn’t glance back to see if she’s following -- he can see well enough in the lobby’s tall windows as she huffs out a sigh and trails after him.
+
“It’s nice here,” she comments as they wait at a stoplight somewhere along Congress Street.
He’d opted for the side streets, instead of taking a chance with the highway and its propensity for wrecks inside the tunnel. It certainly has nothing to do with the route taking longer the way he’s chosen, thus an increase in time of being in Sloane’s presence.
“In my heated seats? Of course it is. Beats the hard, plastic ones on the T any day.”
“I meant here as in the city, Boston. It’s a nice change of pace from the… constant-ness of New York City.”
“Constant-ness is not a word.”
“It is a word when I’ve gotten off a fifteen-hour shift, then had to walk around in these heels all night, and then was bullied into a car.”
“I did not bully you--”
“Okay, you didn’t bully me. How about: arrogantly demanded?”
He hums, as if in consideration.
“I’ll concede to arrogantly demanded.”
That sparks another chuckle from her, grinning over at him from his passenger seat.
“But yes, I lived in New York City. Therefore, I get to say what it was or was not.”
“It’s rather constant here, too,” he points out. A chorus of honks back up his statement as two cars blow through a red, blocking the intersection when the traffic ahead stops.
“New York was such a high turnover city to me. I had seventeen different roommates when I was living off-campus my third year of med school. People would come from all over the world to chase their dreams. By three weeks in, they came to the realization that it was going to be a lot harder than TV made it out to be. Why would they bother trying to live in one of the world’s most expensive cities being a temp or a waitress, when they could be back in Minneapolis or Nashville or Rochester doing the same thing.”
“That’s… rather depressing.”
She shrugs at his summation.
“It’s just how it was. And why I love living here in comparison. Here, everyone seems a lot more… rooted. I mean, barring unforeseen circumstances, I’ll be here for three years for residency. It’s nice to have that, to have friends who are in the same boat as me.”
His mind unwillingly travels three years ahead, when Sloane inevitably goes off to Johns Hopkins or Vanderbilt or Seattle Grace, and he never sees her again. “People come here to stay here,” she continues, unaware of his sobering thoughts. “I like it.”
He doesn’t know what to say to that, not trusting himself to ask if she can see herself staying here permanently. If she can see a place for herself on his team, because if she keeps at it like she has been, he can easily see her joining him.
He doesn’t want to hear her plans if her answer to that is no.
Instead, he flips on the radio. He taps along to the bass drums as she hums in time with the string instruments and he reminds himself that he cannot fall in love with her (not that it does any good).
+
“Nice place,” he says, and means it. The apartment building faces to the north, with a spectacular view of the harbor to the west. A doorman waves at Sloane as she starts to climb out.
“Thanks!”
“It might be rude of me to ask, but when I was in residency, I lived out of a shoebox. How did you all manage to secure a place like this?”
She glances over to the bay, biting at her lip, before meeting his curious gaze.
“We might have ganged up on the landlord and convinced him that our competition were communists.”
“Wow.”
“Well, ganged up is a strong term. But...yeah. First time I’ve ever been thankful I paid attention in that American History class in undergrad.”
“I have to admit, I’m impressed.”
“Oh, Doctor Ramsey,” she says with a shake of her head, that familiar smile making its appearance, “if you’re impressed by that, you should see what else I’m capable of.” With that, she grabs her purse from the floorboard, thanking him again for the ride, before rushing up to the double doors.
Ethan stays, wanting to make sure she gets inside safely, and watches her chat with the doorman for a moment. He can tell when she notices him still at the curb, and flicks a hand up at her when she waves to him. He waits a moment longer, watching her turn and head deeper into the lobby, until she disappears into a waiting elevator.
“I can’t wait to find out, Rookie.”

Mini Golf
Hello, bitches! So this is based (very loosely) on a dream @wazzupmrstark had like a month and a half ago if not longer.
I struggled with this SO HARD because I was trying to make it live up to the dream she told me, but I gave up and said: “Fuck it.” So here it is.
Tom x OC, Harrison x OC
Word Count - 1684
Warnings - None
Tumblr media
“I can’t. I can’t do it.” Daria breathed shaking her head vehemently, hand frozen on the handle of her best friend’s car. Her voice wavered and Kassandra tried not to laugh.
“Daria, stop it,” Kass giggled, tossing her mahogany brown hair over her shoulder while shooting a pointed look to her friend. She looked magnificent in her black scoop neck tank top and light jeans with matching black Converse. Daria’s olive skin and dark brown hair was complimented well by the colors she chose to wear, and if she could only get over her nerves, then she would be able to enjoy their day out. Kassandra, on the other hand, was wearing a red v-neck tee shirt with dark jeans and matching red Converse. Her pale skin looked almost radiant and both had their makeup done to perfection.
Kass wasn’t going to let her best friend back out of this last minute. They had stumbled upon the fortune of going on a double date with another pair of best friends they had gotten to know recently. Kassandra and Daria worked together a lot as production assistants on smaller grade film shoots. Through one of said shoots, they made fast friends with Jacob Batalon who encouraged a pair of his good friends to reach out to the girls. Tom and Harrison were two of the most gorgeous men Kassandra and Daria had ever met in their lives, and when they each asked one of the girls out, they had wasted no time in agreeing. Tom had asked sweet, shy Daria, his chocolate brown eyes melting hers as well as her heart. Meanwhile, Harrison had asked outspoken, sarcastic Kassandra who had instantly made jokes about the similarities between Daria and Harrison and Tom and herself.
Exiting the vehicle, Kass walked around the front of it, looping her arm through her best friend’s, preventing her from being able to escape. Taking slow, calculated steps, they made their way across the parking lot towards the two attractive young men who were waiting for them. Both boys wore grins bright enough to put even the sun to shame, and the girls couldn’t help but return the gesture. Daria’s breathing became heavy and Kassandra let out a huff of air, knowing she was going to have to pretend to be confident enough for the both of them if they were ever going to make it through the date.
“Good afternoon Blondie, Brownie.” She beamed at both boys, who chuckled at their nicknames before simultaneously holding their elbows out to their dates. Without letting go of Daria, Kassandra tucked her arm through Harrison’s, nudging the girl on her right to link her arm through Tom’s. “I should warn you guys, I’m a hopeless golfer.” She chuckled to herself, making the other three laugh along.
“Awh, come now, darling. I’m sure you can’t be that bad.” Harrison encouraged, smiling gently down at the shortest person of the group.
“Don’t underestimate her. I’d put money on Kassie’s putter ending up in the water at some point.” Daria snickered earning a gasp of mock offense from Kassandra.
“Oh, haha. Like you’re any better.” She quipped, a playful smirk seeming to be perpetually dancing on her lips.
The group had fallen quiet as they all headed into the building to get their putters and choose their balls. Tom grabbed a red ball, so Daria chose royal blue with a sly wink, making him smile warmly at her. Harrison grabbed a green ball, and Kassandra chose a light blue, secretly admiring how much it resembled Harrison’s eyes. Daria could sense that Kass was a little nervous, despite the façade she tried to put on. For all she knew, the boys could have been buying it, but she knew her best friend better than that. She offered her a soft, reassuring smile, wishing that Kass could see in herself what Daria knew everyone else could see in her.
“So Tom and I were talking, and we had an idea. We thought maybe we could team up, since the two of you are self-proclaimed golfing amateurs. For your own benefit.” Harrison laughed at the expressions on the girls’ faces.
“And what makes you two such experts?” Kassandra teased back, laughing loudly.
“It’s just an idea, love you don’t have to take our help.” Tom chuckles with a shrug.
“No you’re definitely helping us, shut up.” She giggled, glancing over at Daria who beamed back. “Let’s go find the first hole, shall we?” Kassandra asked, leading the way as she always did. Harrison wasn’t far behind, following her like a puppy in love. It was cute and it made Daria laugh. Tom closed the gap between the two of them, smirking a little when his arm brushed hers and she blushed in response.
“He’s nervous.” Tom murmured to her, the corners of his lips tugging upwards just a little bit as she looked at him. “He’s been talking about her for three days. I gotta admit, she is a little intimidating, I can understand why he’d be a little uneasy around her.”
“Are you? Nervous or uneasy, that is?” Daria wanted to know.
“Maybe just a little. Not every day you get to go on a date with such a pretty girl.” He shrugged, nudging her with his elbow.
Ahead of them, Kassandra and Harrison were already at the first hole. It was a relatively simple course, the only obstacle being a short wall on the left hand side, the goal just on the other side of it. Harrison encouraged Kassandra to drop her ball onto the turf, tentatively wrapping his arms around her. She chuckled a little, feeling his fingers shake a little bit as her curled her hands around the end of the putter. A blush touched her cheeks as she felt his breath fan over the back of her neck, his proximity making the both of them slightly uncomfortable. Their hearts raced as he nudged her feet apart, pulling her arms back and hitting the ball. It hit the back wall at the perfect angle to rest just to the left of the hole.
“There you go! Look at that!” Harrison encouraged, wrapping his arms tightly around her and making them both laugh warmly into each other’s shoulders. By the time Tom and Daria caught up, they chuckled to each other, admiring that it had taken all of five minutes for the two to get comfortable with each other.
They each took their time, not one of them being in any kind of rush to be finished with the date. As they progressed, the holes got more and more difficult, meaning the boys had to carry more of the weight. They didn’t seem to mind in the slightest though, enjoying the day out just as much as the girls were, if not even more. They came to a hole with a full loop, and Kassandra and Daria watched in awe as Tom and Harrison’s biceps bulged in the effort to hit the ball hard enough to go all the way around. The boys smirked to each other, catching the stares from the girls despite their best efforts at hiding it. But then, everyone who knew Kassandra knew she wasn’t one for subtlety and getting caught gawking at a hot guy was really just par for the course.
Hours came and went, further proving the phrase, “time flies”. It had only felt like mere minutes between the four as laughs, stories, jokes, and friendly competitive quips were shared on the course. It had been a close game between the two teams, but thanks to a certain tricky shot resulting in Kassandra’s putter nearly ending up in the water, followed by an ‘I told you so’ from her best friend, Tom and Daria had one by a measly three points. Kassandra pouted for a few moments which made Harrison chuckle, wrapping an arm around her shoulders before he offered to get ice cream. The rest of the group excitedly agreed as they followed behind Kassandra to the closest Twistee Treat, which was thankfully a five minute walk from the putt putt course.
As they arrived at the ice cream shaped building, they each placed their orders. Kassandra got a hot fudge sundae, Harrison got a banana split, Tom a chocolate dipped cone, and Daria a caramel sundae. They sat down on the benches provided in front of the ice cream parlor, making small talk about their treats and the game of golf. Harrison scooped up a bit of each flavor of the ice cream in his bowl followed by a small piece of his banana, holding it up and offering it to Kassandra. She blushed before opening her mouth, humming with satisfaction when the ice cold sweetness hit her tongue. Tom glanced over to Daria as Kassandra and Harrison had their moment, laughing when he saw ice cream on the corner of her mouth.
“You’ve got a little, uh-” He pointed to his own mouth in the general area of where it was on her own face.
“Could you get it?” She asked with a smirk, holding up her ice cream and spoon in a show of how full her hands were. Tom smirked back, tucking his index finger under her chin, pulling her closer until his lips met hers gently. She let out a soft squeak in shock, then sighed into the kiss before he pulled away slowly, licking his bottom lip to get the vanilla ice cream off of it, offering her a shit eating grin. It took her a few seconds, but slowly her eyes fluttered open to see her best friend leaning around her date, shooting her a wink before turning back to Harrison.
“So, what are the chances we could take you girls on a second date?” Harrison asked quietly, smiling brightly as if he already knew the answer.
“Maybe. On one condition.” Daria smiled coyly, running a hand through her long brown hair.
“And what’s that?” Tom questioned, raising an eyebrow questioningly at her.
“Next time, you let us win.” Kassandra smirked.

Use of driving range mats for playing golf
Driving range mats appear to be average today in golf programs. Tend to be great for your golf swing? It might be an inexpensive maneuver for golf programs, but in my estimation, they cannot ensure that the average golf player.
In contrast to grass, driving range mats are firmly leading to different ball plane tickets. Additionally, feet appear to tend to slide out from below you. Whenever hitting golf irons, weight loss has a divot. Instead, you are selecting the ball that creates a superficial swing. You have designed a miserable routine. The divot is made on regular grass when you are into the golf ball, striking the actual ball very first. Weight loss obtains the same outcome off of synthetic turf. Therefore, about to catch getting the proper suggestions that you should get proper any errors.
The entire reason for practice is to become suggestions and correct errors. About to catch will be in a position to make this happen by striking balls from artificial grass. You would like to sharpen what you want rather than creating unacceptable. An additional problem I appear to have is the fact that following a session upon these mats, the wrists ache as well as my club minds are green as well as scuffed upward.
Tumblr media
The only real positive I realize maybe hitting your driver from the rubberized tee. If you possibly could manage your balance, however, see absolutely nothing wrong with exercising with your car owner. My suggestion is to discover the grassy region to practice or even play a nine whole training course. By doing this, you will not be obtaining unacceptable from striking golf balls from driving range mats.
Associated with pension transfer everything, you could find digital gadgets unavailable to golf players quite a few years back. You can buy exercise aids which will measure the actual tempo of the downswing, top swing as well as downswing, that help you figure out your ideal golf swing tempo. The actual Sync-Swing attaches for your club base and measures your swing timing as well as clubhead speed for you personally.
Golf practice equipment could be a significant portion of your general progress together with your video game. Still, never undervalue the value of the body as well as its capability to create its very own advantages through addressing your pros and cons. whenever your focus gets on self-enhancement beginning with your physique, then your training helps, and equipment is going to be much more helpful. By utilizing golf practice mat regularly, checking your improvement, and creating a commitment to enhancing, actually, you could be a great golfer very quickly.

careless; kim seungmin
synopsis: when an act of carelessness could lead to something new.
word count: 1261
genre: fluff
a/n; i know i have been dead on here since forever, but since its christmas,, i decided to upload something that has been sitting in my drafts for awhile! merry christmas ❤️
The sky was slightly gloomy, dark clouds casting an ominous gloom over the golf club. You were dressed in a simple white Gucci shirt, complete with a black leather jacket and black ripped jeans of the same label. You were at Jeongin’s annual golf competition. You had little to no interest in the sport, to be honest, you were just there for the support your fraternal twin brother needed.
On your hand perched a bottle of Perrier, that was barely touched. The rest of your friends were busy chattering excitedly amongst themselves. You barely brought anything with you, so you thought you wouldn’t join in their mindless conversation.
Though, you would very much like to excuse yourself from the very existence of one boy, by the name of Kim Seungmin.
Disliking Seungmin was an understatement, you hated how cocky he acted around his peers. He jeered at Jeongin’s team for losing out the last time they played against each other, and you never wanted to slap the smirk off the pretty boy’s face so much in your life.
Seungmin seemed to hate your very existence, for judging him before you even got to know him personally. The jeering was something his teammate, Hyunjin, fired up, and he was trying to stop him. Before Seungmin could say anything, you would roll your eyes at him, whispering to your friend. Seungmin could only scoff in return, not knowing how someone could be as shallow as you were.
Today, Seungmin’s team lost to Jeongin’s team, just by a slight margin. You were happy for your brother, of course, he played really well to widen the gap between both teams. You ordered a can of cola, making your way to the opposing team’s tent. You wanted to cheer on Jeno, who happened to be on Seungmin’s team. You had a crush on him for the longest time, maybe if you tried to console him, he would strike up a date with you.
Maybe if you didn’t open that can of cola beforehand, your plan would go smoothly.
Before you could even reach Jeno, you came colliding into a body, which was well-built, to your surprise. Your cola spilt all over the person’s white polo tee, making a dark brown stain on the expensive piece of clothing. You gasped in horror, rushing over to the main table to grab a few tissues, patting it on the person’s shirt.
“I’m so sorry!” You apologised, frantically trying to remove the stain, “I’ll pay you back--”
“Y/N, stop pretending.” You heard him scoff, as you looked up, it was the face of someone you wanted to avoid all day.
Kim Seungmin.
You rolled your eyes, tossing the tissues to him, “Does this seem like I’m doing it on purpose? If I knew it was you, I would’ve left you in a ditch.”
“Then explain why you’re in our tent, Y/N.” Seungmin folded his arms, tapping his feet in annoyance.
You bit your lip, you definitely weren’t gonna expose your crush on Jeno to Kim freaking Seungmin.
“See? You can’t even explain yourself.” Seungmin laughed, “Next time be more discreet about your plans to ruin me, alright?”
“What’s going on?” Jeno enters the tent, confused, “Are you guys dating?”
“No!” The both of you chorused, then glaring at each other.
“I would never fall for a jerk like Kim Seungmin.”
“I would never fall for a girl like Y/N.”
You were then angered, storming out of the tent. You hated how Seungmin was always in the way of your plans, hindering you. Seungmin’s and Jeno’s eyes followed you out of the tent, sighing in unison.
“Y/N left her phone,” Jeno picks up your phone from the table, shoving it to Seungmin, “Give it back to her, your girlfriend.”
“She’s not my girlfriend,” Seungmin slaps Jeno playfully, “She’s just…”
“Hmm?” Jeno raised his eyebrows, “What? A fling?”
“No?” Seungmin runs his hand through his hair in frustration, “I think she’s kinda… pretty.”
“No way,” Jeno laughs, “Is this another one of those enemies-to-lovers dramas my sister watches?”
Seungmin hit the older boy again, making him raise both his hands in defeat, “I don’t really hate her though, she’s just fun to mess with.”
“Then use this chance to return her phone then,” Jeno smiles, “Confess or something.”
“She hates my guts, no way she will ever…” Seungmin stares at your phone, “She’s part of the opposing team too.”
“Okay whatever you say, lover boy,” Jeno shrugs, “but at least give back her phone- also, change your shirt”
Seungmin looked down at the big brown stain on his once flawless shirt. It hit him that he didn’t pack any extra shirts since he was prepared to go home directly after the competition. Seungmin ruffled his hair for what seemed the 20th time, groaning in frustration.
“I have an extra shirt if you want.”Jeno digs out a white button-down shirt, “You can’t be going to see your lover like this.” He winks.
Seungmin rolls his eyes, “Well, thanks.” He grabbed his shirt and swapped it with his stained one. He took a couple of breaths before putting on the shirt, as Jeno whistled at the sight.
“On second thought, maybe she should see you shirtless--”
“What?” Seungmin’s ears turned red, “Jeno you--”
“Okay, okay!” Jeno raised his hands again, running out of the tent.
Seungmin shook his head, pulling Jeno’s shirt on. As he was about to leave, the tent flap opened. He stood there, watching as you stepped into the tent again, looking for your phone.
“I think I left my phone in here…” You ran your hand through your hair, looking around.
“This?” Seungmin tapped on your shoulder, waving your phone in front of you.
“Uh, yeah…” You snatched your phone away a little bit too harshly, “Thanks.”
“I uh… I gotta go.” You stuttered, “I’m gonna be late for the after-party. And I’m sorry. For your shirt.”
“It’s fine,” Seungmin waves you off, “It wasn’t anything big anyway. I can always buy a new one.”
“And…” Seungmin wrung his hands nervously, “I was wondering if we could be friends… put an end to all of...this.”
You tilted your head in question.
“It’s just… I don’t know, I--” He started.
“We can be friends.” You interrupted quickly, blushing and looking down, “I feel kinda bad for being so rude to you before. I wanna make that up to you.”
Seungmin smiled. His heart felt as if it was floating. There seems to be a force behind his, pushing him towards you- making both of you end up standing inches away from each other. Both of you remained there for what seemed like years. For some reason, you didn’t want to leave him.
“Hey Y/N.. since when were you so pretty?” Seungmin asked absent-mindedly as he was looking into your eyes, “Last year? Since birth?”
You chuckled slightly under your breath. “What?”
Seungmin realises what he just said, fanning himself, “Did I just say that out loud I’m so sorry I-”
“No, it’s fine… I just didn’t really expect that coming. Besides, you-”
“Hey Seungmin did you see--” Jeno stopped abruptly at the entrance, his eyes widening. “I’m so so sorry I’ll come back later” Jeno carefully closed the flap and sprinted away.
“Well,” You hummed, “I gotta go, I’m kinda late… So I’ll see you soon…?”
“Yeah… See you.” Seungmin waved shyly, as he watches you enter your brother’s car.
That night, both of you didn’t sleep a wink, thinking of each other.

How To Build a Golf Simulator On a Budget
Tumblr media
In case you're similar to me, the long winter months and absence of chances to get out and swing the sticks make me distraught. Indeed, it's pleasant to have a white Christmas and all that however there is just so much solace nourishment and I can eat, so much more distant family I can deal with thus time on the sofa I can spend. For a long time I look out my front room window and consider playing golf. Obviously, I scratch the tingle on my indoor putting mat, hit flop shots off the rug when my better half isn't looking and swing my weighted club in the carport. Be that as it may, toward the day's end there's not a viable alternative for the genuine article.
As I kept on stewing throughout the entire winter, I harkened back to my school days when we made our very own variant of a golf test system. It was entirely brilliant. At any rate we suspected as much. It was a canvas suspended from the roof and moored to the floor with cushions stuffed behind it. What's more, obviously we never needed to hold up until the go to get brew, the cooler by our hitting mat was in every case well-supplied.
Since its absolutely impossible I could pull off such an arrangement now, I began doing some exploration on indoor golf test systems. What I found is that there are a wide range of cool choices out there and… they cost a large portion of my outstanding home loan. In any case, with somewhat more burrowing, I found that it's possible to construct your very own test system for a small amount of the expense of having one introduced expertly.
Instructions:Buil your own golf simulator
You may feel that you need a wide range of extravagant gear and PCs to manufacture your very own test system yet such isn't the situation. All you truly need is sufficient space, a hitting mat, a projector, a screen or net and programming that enables you to play the world's best courses in 3-D.
Space
There's no way to avoid the way that golf test systems occupy room. At any rate you're going to require a space 10 feet wide by 15 feet long by 10 feet high. Except if you're blessed enough to have vaulted roofs, the in all likelihood space to put a test system is in your carport. On the off chance that you need to get particularly detailed, you should consider building a wood casing secured with work mesh to house your whole arrangement. In the event that you extravagant working with a pneumatic nailer and table saw, you can even form a work area for your PC and a rack for your clubs. In case you're searching for something less complex, buying programming like OptiShot enables you to hit balls into a net and watch the ball trip on your TV progressively.
Hitting Mat
You've presumably hit off modest mats at your neighborhood driving reach. These mats fill a need however you're going to need something somewhat more pleasant for your indoor golf test system. On the off chance that you plan on hitting drivers or fairway woods, you're going to require a tangle that you can get a tee in to. On the off chance that you need to recreate various untruths like fairway and harsh, finding a tangle with various statures is an alternative too.
Our preferred indoor mats are the:
PGM3660
Callaway FT Launch Zone
Rukket Tri-Turf
Truedays
Sklz Launch Pad
These mats are moderately reasonable and give you better input at that point mats you find on an open air driving extent.
Projector
Despite the fact that you can utilize your TV or PC for your golf test system, having bigger display makes for an increasingly practical encounter. For this you're going to require a projector. While the best ones available can cost a great many dollars, something somewhere in the range of $300 and $500 ought to carry out the responsibility.
In case you're considering getting a dir-modest projector, we exceptionally dishearten doing as such. Despite the fact that there are a lot of alternatives out there for under $100, practically every one of them do not have the splendor expected to see your shots and the course clearly.
Our best proposals that won't use up every last cent are the:
Epson VS230
BenQ MS 524
ViewSonic PJD5533W.
Before you swipe your Visa for a projector however, ensure that is has inputs that are perfect with your PC. More often than not a HDMI port is all you need.
Screen
The screens utilized for top-rack test systems can be exorbitant. Fortunately there are a few different ways to set aside cash without gambling flying golf balls breaking something in your home.
Numerous individuals settle on a straightforward net like the one you may have in your back yard. Brands like Rukket, Callaway, Jef World of Golf, Galileo, GoSports and Club Champ all make golf hitting nets that dependably assimilate the effect of full-speed golf shots and give a cost-productive alternative to progressively costly screens.
On the off chance that feel aren't that essential to you, utilizing a rock solid light-hued covering or canvas is another choice. Before you completely introduce it, you'll need to test the nature of your projector's picture against the snare to ensure it is clear enough so you can sufficiently observe course includes and the trip of your ball.
In the event that neither of the alternatives above work for you, you can make the shoddy speculation of froth golf balls. These balls are made explicitly to be hit inside and except if you hit your mother's china with a shot, you shouldn't need to stress over breaking anything.
Programming
In the event that you've hit balls in a test system in a business space, there's a reason you pay upwards of $50 every hour. Those machines, however truly cool, cost as much as $50,000 a piece. The best programming for your home test system is OptiShot which expenses under $500. While this program won't give you crush factor, dispatch edge and turn rate numbers, you will get precise input on details like club head speed, separation, shot shape and swing way.
The OptiShot likewise enables you to play an assortment of world-well known courses, modify climate conditions and play various configurations against your companions.
So What Is Total Cost?
On the off chance that you need to manufacture a straightforward no frills test system that gives you the impression that you're playing a genuine round of golf, your cost breakdown should look something like the accompanying.
Programming: $500
Projector: $300
Hitting Mat: $60
Hitting Net: $40
Complete: $1,000
Additional Features
In the event that you have somewhat more space in your financial limit, you can buy a portion of the things recorded above with some additional highlights or you can select some cool additional items to upgrade your experience.
One choice is purchasing an Ipad and introducing swing examination programming like V-1, SwingTIP or SwingSmart. These kinds of projects enable you to utilize a camcorder to take a video of your swing and after that moderate it down, draw lines and see one next to the other pictures of your swing and the swings of the Pros from various edges. A few projects even accompany pre-stacked instructional tips or enable you to pay for a membership for tweaked proficient guidance.
Another choice is to construct a fenced in area for your test system that keeps surrounding light out and light from your projector in. This includes the expense of materials like wood and some kind of covering. Covers can be anything from work mesh to shower window ornaments, essentially, anything to shield errant shots from flying out of the fenced in area and causing harm.
The choices to alter your test system are boundless. Don't hesitate to get as innovative as you need and as your spending limit permits.
Practice
Presently that you're fully operational it's an ideal opportunity to put your golf test system to utilize. The principal thing that most likely rings a bell is working on during when the climate keeps you from heading outside. Regardless of whether you're taking a shot at swing mechanics or dialing in separations with your short irons, having the option to see your ball flight and numbers inside is the thing that you assembled this test system for you know.
Play Where the Pros Play
Possibly you simply need to play the absolute most renowned courses on the planet that you likely won't get the opportunity to play, all things considered. For me that was Augusta National, the most select club on the planet where ex-presidents are even denied access. In the wake of dumping one in the water left of the green on Hole 11 and making intruder, I birdied the notorious standard 3 twelfth over Ray's Creek and parred the standard 5 thirteenth. I played Amen Corner in even standard! How cool is that? Your golf test system programming comes pre-stacked with notorious courses and at a little cost you have the choice to download others and keep them forever.
Practice With a Buddy
Possibly you and an amigo have a mutual objective for your golf games. Regardless of whether it's breaking 90 just because or figuring out how to hit a draw rather than a cut, golf test systems accompany a training mode where you can simply beat balls on a driving reach. You'll get criticism on each shot and have the option to gauge each other's advancement the whole time.
It's imperative to practice like you play as well. An incredible method to do this is by keeping your training focused with basic games. You have the opportunity to get as innovative with this as you need. One of my preferred games is KP's. The principles to this game are really straight forward. You and your accomplice concur on an objective and each hit 10 shots estimating who is nearest on each shot and the most player with the most KP's after every one of the shots are hit is the victor.
Fellow or Gal Time
Each person or lady longs for having their very own variant of a definitive man or lady cavern and for enthusiastic golfers, having a test system and a major level screen is at the highest priority on the rundown. For me, school football Saturdays resemble religion. Most Saturdays during the season will discover me tossing a spread for a couple of my companions where we have all the significant games on and crush in 36 openings while giving each other trouble. Whatever the event might be, having a golf test system just improves the experience for everybody.
Begin a League
One of the best time things you can do with your golf test system is begin an association that gets together all the time to contend. You can structure the group anyway you pick however guaranteeing that groups are equitably coordinated is vital to ensuring everybody has a decent time. In my group, we have four-man groups all comprising of an A, B, C and D player. We play an alternate configuration consistently and groups are granted focuses for where they wrap up. Be that as it may, once more, you're allowed to set this up anyway you need. Ultimately, ensure there is something to play for toward the finish of the period. It doesn't need to anything incredible, however having a prize for the triumphant group propels everybody to appear and remain intrigued throughout the entire season.
End
The chilly dull a long time of winter are hopeless for genuine golfers. The huge names aren't playing on TV and your odds to get out to play yourself are constrained, best case scenario. For a moderately little venture be that as it may, you can construct your own golf test system and have a great deal of fun with your companions all while taking a shot at your game. The best part is the point at which the golf season at last comes around, you'll be miles in front of your pals that haven't contact a club in months.

Which Golf Ball Should I Use?
Tumblr media
Golf ball innovation has progressed significantly since 2000, with progressively concentrated balls being acquainted with the commercial center each year. The possibility that one ball fits all is obsolete and powers easygoing golfers to forfeit execution much of the time. A speedy audit of the qualities and shortcomings of your game can point you toward a stroke-sparing golf ball.
Types
Before you comprehend what golf ball should i use, you have to realize what sort of balls are accessible. Beginning from ultra-tough two-piece Surlyn spread balls intended for separation and toughness, and working up to four-or five-piece urethane spread balls intended for visit experts, there is a ball that suits your game.
The blend of mantle layers, pressure and spread will decide the exhibition and responsiveness of a golf ball. Golf balls with at least three layers will turn more on methodology shots, giving you more control and a superior comprehension of what your shot will do when it arrives on the green. Balls with less than three layers will in general be more enthusiastically and turn less.
Surlyn
Surlyn is a solid spread that doesn't make as high a turn rate upon effect. Balls made with Surlyn spreads are commonly more affordable and come up short on the responsiveness of premium level options.
The intrigue of Surlyn is in its sturdiness and cost. Most brands are accessible for under $20 per dozen, numerous with value directs nearer toward $1 per ball.
Surlyn balls are extraordinary for the apprentice, and those attempting to keep the ball in play. Since the Surlyn doesn't turn as much as different materials the spread can regularly decrease the snare and cut on your shots.
Urethane
The uniform decision for golf balls utilized at the expert level, urethane is a delicate and to some degree strong material that reacts very well around the greens. Increasingly talented players rely upon their short game to bring down their scores, and urethane balls give better players more command over the manner in which the ball responds after effect. Not very many high impediment players lose strokes in light of the fact that their methodology shot spun the incorrect way, or their impact from the dugout won't turn back near the gap, things that improve players what they are.
Urethane allows you to be exact with your methodologies. The drawback is the material won't keep going as long as surlyn, frequently requiring another ball after just a couple of gaps, and the high turn rate can unfavorably influence inadequately struck shots.
Your Game
While different variables, for example, course condition, format, and climate can influence the correct ball that day, the most ideal approach to locate an extraordinary match is to make a genuine appraisal of your needs on the course. In the event that you battle with a cut off the tee, at that point the costly visit level ball is just going to misrepresent your concern. Keep in mind, visit execution golf balls are intended to react to the manner in which they're hit and respond appropriately. These balls won't fix your cut.
Field Test
With all the data you have it's an ideal opportunity to make a couple of buys and head out to the course.
A decent principle guideline; if your debilitation is over 10, hit a couple of tee shots with each ball and see which one you like best. For players with single digit handicaps, hit a few kinds of shots from 100 yards and in, including chip shots, pitches, sand shots and putts. Whichever ball offers to you will do the most to improve your scores.
What's more, as usual, in the event that you can't differentiate between the ball selling for $50 per dozen and the one selling for $20, play the less expensive ball.
