Still early on but I love Misplaced so far! I'm currently waffling back and forth in the squire initiation. There are several answers that I feel fit my MC, but I read that the knight they study under will affect which weapons and magic MC learns about. Now I'm wondering about the knights and wanted to know if you had any interesting factoids to share about them 😂

Sure, I can share a few fun facts about our mentors!

Lady Westwale:

Her birthday is the 19th of the Drunken Moon.

She is 47 during the squire initiation and 58 during the rest of the story.

Her hobbies include pottery and fishing.

While female knights are common now, they were still a bit rarer when Lady Westwale first became a squire. She had to overcome many hardships in her career but has become somewhat of the defacto leader of the knights.

Sir Asperame:

His birthday is the 2nd of the Starfall Moon.

He is 32 during the squire initiation and 43 during the rest of the story.

His hobbies include gambling, brawling, and bee keeping.

Even though he is easy to get along with and has a lot of friends, his marriage is constantly going through rough patches. He thinks its because being a knight takes up too much of his day. His wife actually thinks he's not taking his duties seriously enough.

Chev Minne:

Their birthday is on the 23rd of the Frozen Moon.

They are 25 during the squire initiation and 36 during the rest of the story.

Their hobbies include writing romance novels and gardening.

While they don't often mention it in their day-to-say, Chev Minne spends a lot of time fostering their connection to the Old Gods and Goddesses. They believe that humans could learn a lot by reconnecting with nature and the origins of magic.

Sir Stahlvart:

His birthday is on the 11th of the Blossom Moon.

He is 27 during the squire initiation and 38 during the rest of the story.

His hobbies include sewing, poetry, playing the lyre and brewing poison.

Even among the knights, who all very much have colourful personalities, he is known the be an eccentric. It always seems like Sir Stahlvart knows more about what's going on than anyone else. Some speculate he is actually half-fae, though he looks entirely human.

I'll say this. I don't agree with everything this guy says, since he's clearly anti-strike, but dude makes a lot of points about Rachel Zegler's hypocrisy around representation. Of course, I took a closer look at her background and surprise, Zegler is from a wealthy family. Her father has worked as an executive for Turner Construction Company nearly 40 years; a large, powerful, international company. It's owned by Turner Corporation, itself a subsidiary of Hochtief, the largest construction company in Germany, with quite a history. Turner has quite a history, also, with several money related scandals.

Under the Third Reich, Jewish members of the Supervisory Board were expelled under the Nuremberg Laws in 1935. The CEO, Eugen Vögler, did not join the Nazi party until 1937, however, he did offer his services to the Nazis as leader of the "Construction Industry Business Group" and took a position in the Hitler Youth. The construction business flourished under the Four year plan, with its vast public works programme, including the Autobahn network, and the industrial build-up in preparation for war, for example the construction of a new truck factory for Opel in Brandenberg. I just found all of this interesting, because I've been reading up on WWII a lot, lately and only just came across the Hitler Wolf obsession a couple of weeks ago. He named everything Wolf, hired people with the name and so on. One biography said he got it from Wagner. Oh...Turner is of French Normandy origins.

Also interesting to me is that out of 30,000 applicants, Spielberg just happened to pick a girl with obvious connections and who has behaved like a spoiled brat since she hit Hollywood and everyone is just expected to deal.
