Red Cloud Interactive, Naruto Cosplayers PH and Robinsons Novaliches will bring Pinoy Otaku Festival (POF) 2019: Asobu on May 17-19, 2019 at the Trade Hall of Robinsons Novaliches in Quezon City, Metro Manila, Philippines. The title theme of the event “ASOBU,” which means “Let’s Play,” will focus on interactive experience for all attendee and include the traditional cosplay competition, karaoke and Battle of the Bands.
Pinoy Otaku Festival has been known for its event which focuses on the true Pinoy Otaku identity and Filipino’s dedication as manifested by the current trend in popular culture. It is a celebration of Japanese pop culture and how Filipinos enrich it, by experience our own culture as well through the latest popular culture as the event combine cosplay, music and the Filipino’s heart of gold for helping people.

In creating a business, we always say customer is always right which is true , they are our primary priority. You can solicit information through ASKING ( Open Ended Questions), by SEEING/SHADOWING ( watching people & process ) or by ENGAGING ( Uncover New Patterns of behaviour. Or we can use Customer Empathy Map( THINK & FEEL).What are their major concerns? Are they happy with the product/services? (HEAR) the influencers: who are they listening & getting advice from? Are they active in their social media,blogs,newspaper? So in this quiries you can see where to focus your advertising budget.
Find out fears, frustrations, what exactly makes them happy? During observation , find people who have the problems listen to them, gather pain points that will improve your idea. And the most important is TIME( invest time & pour effort). We must remember that VALIDATE before you BUILD.
We have activity called marshmallow challenge. So we only have spaghetti stick, yarn, scissor, tape, & marshmallow. So the challenge is we must build a tower and put marshmallow on top and it must stood up w/n 5 seconds. The first thing we do is we make sure that our foundation is strong. We put up Scotch tape, even tie it to really secure the foundation. So each group is given 15 minutes to build their own tower. After 15 minutes we did it safely and secure.
The essence is that in putting up a business strategy, patient, time really MUST. Our group win because we have strategy. First we make sure that our foundation is strong ( preventing wiggling of spaghetti, fall out of tower.) Interpreting this, first VALIDATE your business, " Validation is hard, but building a product that no one would want is harder." Aiming our goals to put the marshmallow on top( signifies our CUSTOMERS). Again, Invest time,effort put passion & labor it with love because everything is worth paying if you work and strive for the best. I always believe that nothing is impossible.

Scanning: A Journey Through Live Digital Media Arts (Planning pt 1)
Beginning on Project 2, I’ve done the same as Project 1 and handwritten some notes. Ian has challenged us to be bold, wacky, and ambitious.
I immediately had lots of ideas about memes, viral videos, and the internet remix culture.
I’m potentially thinking of having a mini installation entitled “Human Memes: ”. Do I have time to somehow create a history and timeline of human memes, some type of presentation, recruit people to actually dress up and come to class dressed up as living memes?
Probably not. But I think I want to do it anyway. So I began my research on memes to get a better understand of their history and how I wanted to present this project.
“Internet humour, like other forms of cultural communication in this medium, passes along from person to person, and may scale (quickly or gradually, depending on the comic potential and other, sometimes rather elusive characteristics) into a shared social phenomenon, giving an insight into the preferences and ideas of the people who actively create and use it.”

Memes have long been a part of this absurdist Internet landscape we live in now. There were the early viral video sensations like Shoes, the Annoying Orange, and the Overly Attached Girlfriend. There were the cartoon memes like Me Gusta, Forever Alone, and the Trollface. Now, there are potentially thousands of Facebook pages, Instagram feeds, and Twitter threads dedicated to sharing (and even plagiarizing) memes. There’s the popular Please Show to Jim Facebook group (almost 100k members), FuckJerry Instagram page (12.5m followers), and the Common White Girl Twitter feed (8.5m followers).

There’s an old stereotype that memes are created by someone living in their parents’ basement surrounded by video games, Mountain Dew, and Tomb Raider posters. And while some of them may still be, now memes have been commercialized with brands from American fast food corps like Wendy’s and International House of Pancakes (IHOP) to cosmetics brands like Tarte getting on on the action to relate to consumers.
Not to mention the numerous social media accounts run by agencies such as Manchester-based Social Chain who own and run numerous humor and meme-based social media accounts for the sole purpose of racking up clicks and views in order to sell their ad space to businesses looking to target those viewers. Even the previously mentioned FuckJerry and Common White Girl are both run by social media companies.
So this once small bit of absurdist Internet humor now weaves itself through social and mainstream media, commercial and celebrity branding, and right on though to politics and government.
Even just a few weeks ago, President Donald Trump of the U.S.A. shared a manipulated gif meme of himself hitting former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton with a golf club.
I started this post thinking I wouldn’t find much information on what I was looking for. But instead, I’ve been kind of overwhelmed with information, so while I have many references and recommended reading, I’m really working to pare down the information to just talking about human memes.
By human memes, I mean real, everyday people who have had their personal images turned into memes. I haven’t found much specifically on this narrow topic yet, beyond what is on KnowYourMeme, so I’m hoping that with some further digging, I can find some specific articles and videos.
My idea is to have a standard presentation talking about Human Memes, and then end on creating my own interactive meme and introducing her to the class and having some conversation with her as a meme, then removing the costume, and discussing with her as a real person what it was like to be turned into a meme.
I’ve started the presentation and am documenting that in the next post. If you are interested in reading being the specific references I have made, there’s another list below of different articles I found interesting discussing memes and Internet culture.

New York, NY – From the high rises of Lower Manhattan to the Boroughs of North Philly, the pleasantry of great herbs and spices linger in the mist like a summers breeze. Today, we follow that lingering aroma to the kitchen of one of the most influential celebrity chefs on the Eastern Seaboard, “Mrs. Shawnae Dixon”. Mrs. Dixon, whom we will refer to by her trade name (SayGrace) wears many hats; Wife, Mother, beloved Daughter, but, it’s her anointing of culinary mastery that maturate in the delight of the masses. An amazing chef? Yes! To know her is to love her; however, to know her grind gives elevated significance to each signature dish she prepares. Today we will attempt to unravel the unapologetic passion that compliments SayGrace God given gift.
To be exact, it was at an early age that SayGrace stumbled upon her passion. Her father, ran a youth basketball league in Staten Island which provided the platform. From there, it soon became apparent that was all the sunlight Shawnae Dixon needed to churn a penny profit into an enterprise. From a need came the opportunity of supply meets demand providing players and spectators alike with concession type foods; hamburgers, hotdogs, etc. Not only did Shawnae excel, but surprisingly the preparation and love exerted resulted in a signature touch, which later became the motto behind the brand,Say Grace.
Celebrity Chef: Humble Beginnings
What makes a great dish? Some would say it’s in the art of the cuisine, while others would argue it’s in the preparation and delivery. However, SayGrace would agree with both of the above assumptions but would put emphasis on the love of culinary that must derive from within to create great dishes. For this main reason, it’s a contemporary approach that affords SayGrace the ability to grow from a ground roots standpoint, while keeping her pulse on the taste and desires of the masses. Cookbooks, talk shows, and restaurants are all in the cards for SayGrace; however, it’s by Faith that ensures her those things will come in due time. As for now, the good old fashion method of word of mouth has organically propelled SayGrace into the conversation of the great chefs sought by celebrity clients.
So how does one become a Celebrity Chef?
To be called to a post or position is a great honor. In the culinary field, the title of Celebrity Chef has become a covenant of sorts, much as that of a four star general or perhaps a doctor. Ask yourself, “what distinguishes a doctor or a general in the capacity of their respective professions?” One would have to conclude the decisive factor has to be they are both an authority in their field. The same could be said of a celebrity Chef. Contrary to belief, the title comes by ways entrusted to those with a passion that outweighs obstacles. Many love what they do, however, a calling into the desires of the heart must be met with an undeniable exertion of sheer will. So to place the correct question in the right context would be to ask, how a woman with a Bachelor’s and two Master’s degree in education transformed from teaching children with disabilities to running the kitchens of the power elites? The answer is simple; by fate, Mrs. Dixon found her purpose! It’s a purpose-driven passion confirmed by faith that leads the way to a powerful testimony that from conception to “Say Grace”, shall we eat?
The year was 2012, newly married and 10 years into a fulfilling career, Shawnae seemed to be living the ideal life. Little did she know that her life as a teacher would be flipped upside down. Sometimes God has to shake up your circumstances for you to find your purpose. The shakeup in Shawnae’s life came in the form of Super Storm Sandy. Hurricane Sandy was one of the deadliest and most destructive hurricanes of the 2012 Atlantic hurricane season causing nearly $75 billion in damage and claiming 233 lives. Through God Grace, the storm passed over the Dixon family without physical harm; however, it left the family homeless for thirteen months. It was at this juncture that Shawnae made a breakthrough by way of adversity. Blessed with a new home and a newly born child, it was suggested by her husband Jason that Shawnae stay at home and take care of the children. It was at this juncture that Jason provided his entire paycheck and told Shawnae to make her dream a reality. The Rest is History
In 2014, the in-house operation gave birth to a small catering business (SayGrace), which to even her surprise, outgrew its expectations. Can you say cup runneth over? The garnered success and savory aroma from the SayGrace brand eventually lead to Shawnae being asked to debut her holiday savory cupcakes treats on Fox Network in the Philadelphia area. From the Fox Network, SayGrace has gone on to film with the Food Network, catered to the stars, and has become a permanent fixture on New York City radio stations. She is a welcomed caterer and private chef to Power 105.1FM, Hot 97.1FM, WBLS, DTF Radio, Break N Chainz Radio 91.3FM (Philadelphia), Jack Thriller’s Internet LIVE Podcast, Wazzup Media Group, Charlamagne tha God, TT Torrez, Angie Martinez (Queen of NY/Hip Hop), DJ Self, DJ Clue, Maino, and so many others.
What makes SayGrace a sure shot with celebrity guest and industry elites?Today’s typical celebrity chef /caterer follow a format that results in providing cookery advice and demonstrations via mass media. As a matter of fact, it’s the core principle of providing elevated dishes on a budget that has brought the attention of celebrities. SayGrace was developed not just to cater to the celebrity crowd, but from a premise that teaching people the importance of kitchen safety, the pros of going organic, and as a ministry to provide nourishment for the mind, body, and soul. With signature dishes from baked macaroni and cheese, soulful fried chicken, to her delicious oreo cornbread, it’s a glare of elegance that accompanies the taste that has become desired my many. In the past 15 years, African Americans have just begun to receive the notoriety and credit for the contributions to the American food culture. Dating back hundreds of years ago when many African American women were either slaves or maidservant, the recipes’ and labor of their culinary skills were shifted or ignored in the face of racism and bigotry. Recently award-winning food journalist Toni Tipton-Martin wrote about the topic in her new book, The Jemima Code: Two Centuries of African American Cookbooks. The book presents a perspective and even a platform that encourages women of color such as Shawnae Dixon to pursue such entrepreneurial endeavors such as SayGrace. In the 1800’s the saying if you own Sally, you own her recipe reminds us of the narrative that reflects the lost art of the culinary influence black women possess in our culture. Since Melinda Russell published the first African American cookbook in 1855, it’s been pioneers such as Mrs. Dixon whose recipes have inspired the way we prepare food today.

Boston, Mass – Up, Up, and Away, the official Chris Brown “Party Tour” has begun in epic fashion. The 32 city tour which began on March 31st in Baltimore, Maryland is set to be full of explosive talent until the last bang in Los Angeles on May, 23rd 2017. A bill that includes Fabolous, O.T. Genesis, Kap G., and Mr. Chris Breezy has been in the works for a minute, and without fail the Party has begun.
Since announcing the Tour in December of 2016, the anticipation for “The Party Tour” has built in momentum with nearly all 23 shows sold out in hours after posting. Initially rap star and movie icon 50Cent was suppose to be one of the shows highlighted guest; however, a commitment filming “Den of Thieves” would ultimately prevent him from joining the tour. Fear Not; the tour took off without a hitch with the slated line up filling the bill with blazing hot music and exciting thrills.
For Sure, or as we say it down South, Fo Sheeeezy! The Party Tour is in full effect! The line up was ridiculous with Comedian Reedo Brown opening (Reedo will be on 16 dates of tour), Chris Brown good friend and colab partner,Casanova is second to bat, followed by Kap G., O.T. Genesis, and of course Fabolous. Talking about getting a bang for your buck!

All of a sudden, the lights flickered and an amazing display of bells and whistles came from the jumbo-tron, followed by a all too familiar voice blasting from the blaring P.A. System, “They don’t want us to win, So we gon’ win more”. “They don’t want us to party, so Chris Brown’s bringing you The Party tour. When I say ‘Chris,’ you say ‘Brown!’ When I say ‘Team,’ you say ‘Breezy!’ said DJ Khaled. The introduction concluded with DJ Khaled’s formal introduction, “I introduce you to the legendary, iconic, my friend, my brother, Chris Brown.”
Emerging from the rafters, dropped Chris Brown suspended by cables and straps with microphone in hand. Three lovely ladies dressed in red cat suits joined him once he made his way to the platform and the rest is history folks. Who says’ Breezy has lost a step? You must be out your rabbit ass mine! Breezy went on tirade of showcasing amazing dance moves while jumping, running, and flying over the stage as a marvel super hero. Chris Brown gives new meaning to, “I don’t get tired”. To imagine performing at such a high level while keeping your composure. Thats the mark of a true professional. Chris Brown went strong for a hour and a half singing his most popular tunes such as “Time for Love,” “Privacy”, “Grass Ain’t Greener” and “Back to Sleep.”
You want reviews! Ok, reviews is what you will get! I’m no rocket scientist by any stretch of the imagination; however, I will attest to “The Party Tour” as one of the best concerts ever for the money! Every act that took the stage gave 110% and really engaged with the fans. From my view, it look as if the crowd was 75% women, and thats a great look from the goggles I have on! We have to give a personal shout out to Wazzup Media Group’s Rosemary “Rose” Ducharme who was in attendance and so generously abliged to share with me some great pics. If you ask me, The Party Tour was business, but for Rose, it was a intimate date with her long time favorite, Chris Brown!
