July 30th 2024 Got to hike the #watchungreservation during the weekend. I stumbled across the Deserted Village of Feltville, founded in 1700's but ultimately deserted in the late 1800's due to businesses failing to boom. Legends from Watchung residents speak of strange lights and campfires late into the night by this very village, stories of devil worshippers, occults, eerie whispers, as if the eyes of the villagers still watch you as you travel into the woods. Sometimes i would stare at the dilapidated windows, and many times, They stare at me back.

November may have come and gone but we're still floating from Sunday's #GoddessHike.  Clear blue skies and crisp fall air made for perfect hiking conditions. Couple that with the high vibrational creative and mental energy  these ladies brought to the trail and you have a recipe for magic to happen.  In this case 'magic' was a safe space for us to be our authentic selves and to meet the mountain where we were - with no pretense or expectation of what "good" looked like...to overcome any self-doubt in the moments we felt challenged by the miles that lied ahead and get by with a little help from a sisterfriend... Our presence and collective joy was an act of rebellion and yeah, it drew stares from some passersby but we showed up to show out and appreciate mother nature for each one of her beautiful gifts. State and county parks reopened in NJ this weekend as the weather was beautiful. There were too many people in some places, but I managed to find some quiet trails Sunday at Watchung Reservation in Mountainside. It's a beautiful park with a lot of trails. There's also Lake Surprise, but I don't know what the surprise is and neither did the guy with a chainsaw and hockey mask. I ended up starting my hike by Watchung Stables, which was far less crowded than other parking lots I passed. Most people were maintaining distance, though few wore masks even when walking past others on narrow trails. One of the worker's cottages at the Deserted Village of #Feltville in Berkeley Heights, #NewJersey. Feltville was a self-contained company town from 1845-1860, centered around a mill. After 1860 it was abandoned for a short time before becoming the resort community of Glenside Park, which flourished until about 1916. In the 1920s, the property was purchased by the Union County Park Commission and incorporated into the Watchung Reservation.
