Evans to Liverpool confirmed
Wales defender Gemma Evans has left Manchester United after just one season, featuring 19 times for the Red Devils.
Tumblr media
Evans reunites with former Bristol manager Matt Beard, now head coach for Liverpool Women, and will likely find herself in the starting line-up thanks to Beard's 5-3-2 preference - and being flexible enough to deputise at left back; an area Liverpool are light in depth.
Speaking with Liverpool's media team, Evans said: “Last season was a difficult year for me as I had to learn to be a teammate in a different way on the field."
She added: “I want more game time and I want to prove the ability I think I have. I haven’t been able to showcase that the last season so I want to meet my standards again and hit the floor running.”
Tumblr media
Evans first made her name at Yeovil, before being snapped up by Bristol City where she made 51 appearances. A move to Reading for two seasons followed, with another 41 appearances, before signing for United last July on a free following the Royals' relegation from the WSL.
The solid CB partnership of Maya Le Tissier and Millie Turner, and now the arrival of Dominique Janssen, has all but forced Evans out of the door, but a move to rivals Liverpool could be the deserved return to the forefront of selection for the Welsh international. At 28, Evans still has years left in her, and the experience to solidify the Liverpool backline.
Tumblr media
Evans joins existing Liverpool centre backs Gemma Bonner, Grace Fisk, Niamh Fahey and Hannah Silcock, and is likely to slot in at LCB alongside Bonner and Fisk - though maybe there will be a settling-in period via substitute appearances.

women in history [11/?] Princess Charlotte of Wales
Her early demise left the royal family heartbroken, with a succession crisis looming as there was no other legitimate candidate to inherit the throne after her. Leopold was left deeply affected and remained so for the rest of his life.

“Rajwa has set a new standard. I was honestly surprised, but happy indeed, that she chose comfort over looks. I still recall how Kate was paraded around in heels just a few hours after the birth of her children, which btw, was painful to watch. I'm not saying every new royal mother now has to wear sneakers, but the health and comfort of the mother must take priority over photo ops.” - Submitted by Anonymous
“I can’t believe some people. Rawja is not a bad or spoiled person for taking time to recover after giving birth instead of immediately going to give a photoshoot and parade her baby around for strangers to see. The old fashioned traditions of the British royals have really rotted some of yalls brains.” - Submitted by Anonymous
