feeling a distinct craving for scully n mulder time…

‼️HATER ALERT‼️this episode pissed me off. you can read how hopeful i was below, expecting a wolfy beast. and then keep all that hope in mind as you watch it get torn to shreds. ready? go.

reading the episode description. as a kid, i thought the chupacabra sounded cool as hell. i thought he was out there, and he was gonna be some cool new wolf thingy, and as a kid who was into wolves, this was truly exciting. in recent years, i have learned that it is not as old of a legend as i had thought as a child. also that one lady says she has a taxidermied one, but i think it’s just a wolf with mange? idk.

okay, so apparently it was first sighted in 1995? that was like. yesterday when this aired. and apparently in some areas it’s more lizardy in reports, and then in the southwest US (which must be what i grew up hearing about) it is a dog

now i hope they go the dog route because i think that’s more interesting. i’m still annoyed they made the jersey devil a bigfoot instead of the goat creature we all know it TRULY IS and that scared me so horrifically as a child. this is a grudge i shall likely hold forever. so i would like to see a wolf creature, because that is what i thought they were as kids, and childhood me has been previously wronged by this show.

okay. let us begin.

why is the screen so dark. can we use some lighting around these parts???

we begin in a migrant camp in california. this dude (eladio) is lurking behind a post, watching a woman (maria) get a smooch from a different guy (soledad). the lurker calls the lady “my love” and she says that she is NOT his love. good! tell him!

oh! the guy who did the smooching (soledad) is the guy who did the lurking’s (eladio's) brother. he’s watching this go down… kinda juicy

maria accidentally let the goats escape… girl get your head in the game.

and then a bunch of explosions are going on??? and raining. nasty yellow green rain. like nickelodeon slime. 

actually it’s yellow. do not drink it!!!

the goats are back, but where is maria??

oh. she is dead and also her eyes and mouth have been eaten away by the yellow stuff.

that was a very gross shot of her conspicuously missing eyeballs 

they did the full intro this time!! feel like it hasn't been the full one in a while

scully is there :D and mulder too! he is exercising very basic spanish. haha he took french and scully took german... they are going to be lost. 

i am recalling in 02x01 when he knew no spanish at all…. he was putting the hours into whatever people used in the 90's instead of duolingo!!!

"can you tell me why we're standing out here in the middle of a field looking at a dead goat?" <- many are asking this 

there was rain, which can come in many colors! "purple rain?" "yeah, great album. deeply flawed movie though" <- YES! A HINT AT FOX MULDER'S MUSIC TASTE HAS FINALLY BEEN REVEALED!!!!!!!

he points out that no one has investigated maria's death because of her and the entire camp's status as migrant workers, which is pretty sad. also, the big coats are big coating.

when they do that thing they are so famous for- sticking their heads into places uninvited- someone yells that the migrant poilce are here, and they all scatter. mulder is trying to say no, no, that's not it at all.

scully flashes the fbi badge hoping that this will explain things, but mulder grabs her hand and closes it.... girl now why did you think that would help!!! it felt out of character and annoyed me even if it WAS funny. she is smart and capable; she does not need mulder to teach her how to do these things.

the woman we saw before says that it was the chupacabra that killed maria, and mulder is explaining what this beast is to scully in great detail, because that is the sort of stuff he has read up on. also, apparently in this version a visitation of one is preceded by light and rain. noted. never heard that before in my life, but noted.

ooooh tea…. the brother who was leaving earlier, soledad, says that his brother, eladio buente, did the killing!!

“uh, how do you explain the yellow rain then?” LMAOOOO chemicals. obviously.

is scully quoting west side story??? 😭😭😭 now where in her navy brat childhood did musicals come into play!!! i love that for her <3

she’s insisting it was a murder, and that it should be left for local cops. but mulder says the local authorities don’t care. scully says she cares :( so they must find what killed maria 

noooo they’re gonna separate… mulder's gonna try and find eladio and she is going autopsy mode. i hate when they separate!!

eladio hasn’t been seen in three days, so mulder goes to visit a guy named agent lozano at the INS. the agent says that the migrant workers make up these stories to feel alive, which seems a deeply reductionist take

(i was wondering why i had never heard the term INS before... turns out it was dissolved in 2003. here i was thinking i was a fool! but no!)

the person working in the morgue is being rude asf to scully and also to the people she is inspecting…. noted. scully, clock that nonsense!

WHAT DA HELL. why is maria covered in…. grassy fluffy stuff???? and looks mummified. a day or two in the fridge did not do that…

they find eladio, who is separated from the others at the INS because they are being mean to him…. they think he’s the chupacabra. oh, so this is like a werewolf transformation thing? see, i was under the impression that the chupacabra was just a little creature. so this is new.

(he gave his name as a famous actor, lmao, i had look that reference up when mulder smiled)

eladio is vehemently claiming that he did not kill maria, and that he held her in his arms as he died. hmm, agent lozano doesn’t believe him. but he seems rude as hell.

they put eladio on a bus, but the other people on it are screaming that he is the chupacabra. and this other guy says that he will be sent back south.

scully rolling up!!! honking at mulder :D

mulder is passionately recounting eladio’s story, and scully looks at him very weirdly for a second, as if to say, this guy is deeply strange. and then she drops the bombshell that maria seems to have died of a FUNGAL INFECTION. she was exposed to so many pesticides that hurt her immune system, she might have died from a totally normal fungus. huh. that would be very sad.

mulder points out yet again that it does not explain the light nor rain.

“mulder, i know you don’t want to hear this, but i think the aliens in this story are not the villains, they’re the victims” <- that shuts him up :(

but they come across the INS bus…. it seems to have crashed??? and that the people in the back are running away??

(at this point, i notice the flute my mutual phoebe hates so much in the soundtrack. it shall haunt us forever)

OH GOD!!! the driver is also now a desiccated corpse.

she flakes a piece of his skin off (GAG!!!!!) oh, it’s very gross. but something about scully ripping her mask off and explaining what went down in medical terms is appealing to me.

it seems to be another fungal case. but a DIFFERENT fungal case!

is this dude using the pokémon move spore? and is it very effective? only time will tell…

eugh, that sounds horrific. spore attack… no thank you ma’am

agent lozano comes back and says they couldn’t find eladio after the whole escape from the bus thing. well look harder idk what else to say.

she says we need to identify this fungus NOW but mulder wants to find eladio. they are splitting up AGAIN???? ugh!!! no fun!!! no fun for me!!!

eladio sneaks off to a barber shop, saying he needs to go back to mexico. apparently this barber was the one who brought him here, and now he needs to return.

OH! he called eladio a slur. and said that without money, he will not take him back. jeez. he has one day to get the money in order to get back. i am uncomfy.

it seems that people are coming to the migrant workers and picking them up for various jobs. eladio sneaks into a truck, and when the other workers refuse to accompany him due to his chupacabra allegations, he must work by himself.

fungus time!!! they’re looking at…. athlete’s foot? now how did it do all that? scully wants to know how they multiplied.

it looks the yellow rain accelerates the fungi and puts them into overdrive!!! the mycologist demonstrates how the stuff makes it expand!!! not good for ecological purposes.

mulder is gazing upon some graffiti of the chupacabra, who, to my disappointment, is more alien than dog. what do i have to do to get a dog beast?? why is it so out of reach for me…???? :(

agent lozano says that mulder ought to leave the brotherly fighting between those two, but mulder says that god will curse the man who doesn’t intervene. and he’s had a rough go of this whole being alive thing so far, so he really can’t use another curse. he’s off to find eladio.

eladio does not look well, as he is tossing some wood about. OH! his sweat is yellow???? no…

NO!! his brother is approaching him!!!! with a pipe… 

AND THE SPOUT ELADIO TOUCHED IS NOW COVERED IN FUNGUS

NO! when soledad opens the door to the restroom some guy is FUNGUS’D!!!! it is very very very gross, especially the stuff in his mouth….. nasty 

but to be clear: the guy who was fungus’d was NOT eladio!!! eladio is in a truck and flooring it!!

eladio runs to someone named gabrielle. and he looks even more sick than before. he is begging for help and money and for her to run away with him. well. i would advise that she does not do that.

scully’s new theory: eladio is the typhoid mary of this new fungus accelerating enzyme. and mulder BETTER NOT COME INTO CONTACT WITH IT. no INHALING, no TOUCHING.

mulder is trying to say it might be aliens!!! but scully says, dude, it doesn’t matter right now where it came from, what matters is making sure less people die. he looks sad to be told this. but she was right.

the barber snitches to mulder and agent lozano where eladio is…. or is he tricking them??? no, he isn’t!! he has visuals on eladio!!! and if it’s an honest race, you know damn well who is going to win between some sick guy and mulder

eladio plays dirty though, and dives under a truck, into another truck filled with goats. all of which later have the fungus. very gross. 

(they keep making a point that the migrants are invisible and no one pays attention to them or cares about their well-being. i feel like there should be a lesson here, but if there is, i’m not seeing it. it just kinda feels like “damn, look how much it sucks that these people are treated terribly” more than a purposeful statement on the inherent equality of all human beings. so it falls very flat)

all the goats have lost their eyes.

the INS go to gabrielle’s house. agent lozano immediately grabs her and it’s straight up awful. scully tells him to check the back to get him away from her. 

mulder says they should wait….

and eladio is looking very very terrible now. he is covered in sores or fungus or something. NO don’t touch the bulk candy and nuts you’re gonna get everyone infected!!!!!!!!

he limps out, but the nuts he knocked over are being fungus’d in real time!!!

they stuck around gabrielle’s place and see soledad show up. we are gearing up for a major brother vs brother showdown. 

but it is interrupted by our agents plus agent lozano whom i do not like!!! soledad says he must avenge maria’s death….. but scully is busy observing that a good third of the supermarkets has been fungus’d from eladio’s presence.

eladio comes to gabrielle’s door and he is very very green. she thinks he killed maria, and he really is the chupacabra. 

this is an interesting concept… that the chupacabra is a guy who gradually turns green and also melts people with fungus enhancing enzymes. i will have to turn this one over and over again in my head.

so we’re going to have a brother vs brother showdown for real now? okay. sure. agent lozano is telling eladio to face his brother. and then we hear a gunshot. lozano has been fungus’d! 

WHAT???? a whole bunch of aliens are sliding out of the light?????? huh. 

so they took soledad??? i guess?? the bonus chupacabra?? chupacabras?? what is the plural for their species?? 

okay so. what the hell is going on. why is he an alien now as we see the flashback of him being confronted. eladio is now full megamind mode. blue and with a protruding skull. screaming that he is not a man and instead the chupacabra. okay.

ah, i see. everyone is telling different stories. gabrielle says soledad didn’t kill eladio. and soledad accidentally shot lozano. and soledad was turned into a chupacabra too?? and now the brothers run away to mexico together.

reporting this to skinner time. the hazmat team could contain the accelerating enzymes.

scully says to skinner that "they" have a way of being almost invisible, like we heard lozano say before, but then we cut to the brothers and their giant megamind skulls and i’m thinking hmmmmm. hmmmmmm. i am not so sure they are particularly inconspicuous.

mulder says nobody cares about them and that is the end of the episode.

well. uh. okay.

i feel like an attempt was made here to call attention to the terrible conditions in which migrant workers live and provide crucial services to the largely ignorant american public but like. i don’t think they did that in the best way. or in any good way at all.

i’m sorry i’m feeling like a hater…… the enzymes speed up the fungus that kills you and that is how the chupacabra gets ya 😭😭😭 what about the actual blood sucking….

this is why i wanted a DAMN WOLF CREATURE!!! not some FUNGUS NONSENSE!!!! who gave a damn about the whole love triangle thingy that drove the whole episode!!! fuck agent lozano!!!

and i'm really pissed off that they made chupacabras FUNGI ALIENS. is this a sick joke......... when it could have been a delightful beasty creature? you made it a guy? a guy who sweats yellow? THAT is a chupacabra? and somehow you can be turned into this kind of alien?

i am annoyed. this episode made me annoyed, and sometimes it feels good to really tear into something. fungi aliens..... do NOT piss me off. ugh. absolutely sullying the good name of this TV program. chupacabra is a fungus alien... you're sick for that. you're SICK for that, chris. who came up with this?

i think they were trying to craft a sympathetic narrative towards the migrant workers, but it just came off like a sideshow of their trauma. and as if agent lozano was justifying their dehumanization, with his whole "they need to tell stories to distract from their simple lives" thing and also how he grabbed gabrielle and mocked eladio's story. i can see there was an effort, and i can see that it failed. i'd be interested to know what people thought in that regard when this episode first aired. i feel like it could have gotten some justified backlash.

i think i typed it somewhere else at some point- and maybe it had gotten lost in the tags or drafts or something- but TXF has 3 kinds of bad episodes, imo.

category a is: this is blatantly offensive. who approved this? (gender bender, excelsis dei)

category b is: this writing is so out of character i feel disgraced (3, the parts in oubliette where scully is just mean af to mulder and tells him to stop trying cpr??? and rift-era episodes)

category c is: just kinda boring af, monster isn't even camp it's just weird, also tends to be overly dark in theme to the point where no one is having fun (calusari, the walk)

and here we got a unique combo of boring and offensive!

actually, the more i think about this, the angrier i am getting. i feel it best to try and keep my hating levels recreational, but i can tell they are getting out of hand. fungus alien........ those blue spiky heads......

but, to end on a positive note: mulder likes prince!!! this is an excellent discovery!! AND scully watches musicals <3 i choose to take these facts with me and disregard all the rest

Interview with a Character!

[Intro: Excited VJ about to play clips of the interview] Today we have an exclusive interview with Miss Sable, the unicorn model who is so hot right now! We caught up with Sable while she prepared for a spring themed photo-shoot. She was gracious enough to entertain our questions while enduring the makeup chair. Though Sable was working she had such an upbeat vibe that our reporter became a fan on the spot! Sable's work is available on Tumblr dot com where she also takes time to interact with her fan base in between shows and campaigns.

1. Are you named after anyone? No. My parents just wanted to celebrate my beautiful coloring. I grew to like it since it's kind of unique. I wont lie, sounds so good when someone is moaning it 🤭

2. When was the last time you cried? Omg today! I cry a little every day on purpose after I read about a talented Korean actress who cries for hours a day. I think crying is a form of self care. We don't do it enough in this world. I want to make sure I stay connected to my emotions. It makes me more empathetic too!

3. Do you have any kids? Oh, gosh. No 🤗 I'm not even sure I'm ready to have a little pony. I guess I'd have to have a steady polycule before I even think about it.

4. Do you use sarcasm? I'm more likely to use a pun. When I'm playing I do like to be a little sarcastic and a tease. But my playmates love it, I promise.

5. Whats the first thing you notice about people? Hmm. Probably their body language and if they smile a lot. People who smile put me at ease. I also notice height. Especially if I'm working with others for the photo shoot, of course I have to asses my angles. It's important to study people's body language and how they take up space to be successful in modeling. I'm able to be versatile and I'm never caught without a good option for a pose.

6. Eye color? Blue and sparkles!

7. Scary movies or happy to endings? Always happy endings! Unless you want me to ruin it for you 😘. If it's not HEA I don't want it. That may be a little naive, or boring to some but I think that we deserve more happy endings in this life. We are so quick to accept suffering instead of demanding joy.

8. Any special talents? Being a unicorn? Haha. I don't have any real talents except being cute I think. But that's ok! I get to enjoy everyone else who is talented. Like my buddy Eagleator? He's like, the strongest fighter I know. [Reporter: You're a model and that takes some skill right?] Haha, you're so right! I forget about that because modeling is really about looks and that's out of my control, but yeah modeling is a talent.

9. Where were you born?

I was born at home. A perfect little baby if I say so myself. My mom was kind of a granola-making hippie and she made a big deal about a natural birth. Specifically I was born in a little pink kiddie pool filled with warm water, patchouli oil, and wildflowers.

10. What're your hobbies? My hobbies are collecting soft pastel sweaters, drinking hot drinks in cute giant mugs, reading fanfiction, flirting, and bingeing hallmark movies. I also like carnivals and fairs, hyperpop and EDM, supernatural romance novels. Though those probably aren't hobbies, lol. I would say daydreaming is a hobby of mine. Sometimes I get so distracted in my own head, I kind of forget what's really happening. If you could use your magical horn to zap up the perfect fantasy would you care about politics? Exactly.

11. Have any pets? Hehe, only the ones that asked to be my pets. But none right now.

12. What sports do you play/have played? Is shopping a sport? Or getting the perfect manicure? Snagging the last pair of Wolfy Choos on release day? Haha. I'm just not really competitive. If I'm going to be running around it's gonna be for pleasure or maybe to chase down a cutie to give them my number.

13. How tall are you? I'm 5'10! Not the tallest pony but I get by hehe.

14. Favorite subject in school? Ick! School is a no. I hated it. Well except for getting to meet my besties. I had a hard time in school. I'm not really smart. Oh don't take that seriously. I don't mind being empty headed. There's so many smart people and creatures in the world why should I worry about that? Honestly I learned the most at the mall when I was skipping class. The real world has a lot to teach someone if they just embrace it. I'm just not the kind of pony to care what happened last century, or how many apples johnny has. I care more about how many apples I can eat and what's going on with the next season of the bachelor!

15. Dream job? Well I actually already have my dream job, though I wouldn't say it was my dream job before I started. [Reporter: Modeling?] Oh, no. This is kind of my side thing. Right now I'm working at this innovative lab that's developing cosmetic drugs. The company is really focused on providing therapies that help others reach their desired form. I feel like, as a model, I'm selling a dream, but as a lab tech I'm actually helping to make them come true.

Surely, this is very flashy clothing for an assassin?

Semi-related but I know they had to cut violence out to please the censors. Which is fine, even if an odd choice for a drama whose male lead is an assassin. BUT!!!! They really went Hallmark in terms of violence which is bizarre to me. I guess better safe than sorry but compare it to e.g., Eagle Flag or Tribes and Empires - those are way way bloodier so did they really have to cut this much? They could have made censors happy and still kept plenty of gore.

Also, nobody is going to convince me that in the original cut, Wolfie wasn’t the one who killed her dad and ordered the underlings to kill her family. Because evil emperor told him to take care of Lord Ma and he’s an assassin who assembled his posse to go kill him. And then the narrator says “Emperor knew Wolfie is nice so he secretly gave orders to his flunkies to kill the family instead because he’d balk.” Which is a stretch to start with: (a) I don’t think Emperor’s training would have settled for anything but a super killing machine; (b) people treat him as someone who’d kill you as soon as look at you; (c ) it wasn’t even super-controversial back then to off the entire family when killing an official, I doubt emperor would want a killer tool with 20th century morals; (d) how do you think an assassin commander would react if his underlings started randomly acting seemingly of their own volition and against his orders in an assassination attempt. But even if I could somehow pretend this makes sense, it would still mean Wolfie was gonna kill Lord Ma even if he’d balk at the rest of the household being put to death. But the way they show it is we don’t see who kills the man and it seems to imply he wasn’t even present. Which wtf - why would he send him to kill someone as a “get rid of last weakness” trial and then tell  underlings to do it all instead (Wolfie doesn’t know his OTP is Lord Ma’s daughter btw - something tells me in initial story he may have known; because otherwise why would emperor mention his one weakness and then send him to off his girl’s dad. Makes no sense if he doesn’t know because then he’d think he is killing a random so what is the big deal. Plus it would explain his lack of shock when he is at her bedside after assassination.) The figure that kills the dad is all covered which it may or may not have been in the original.

I know there is a novel based on the original screenplay but I don’t read Chinese so I can’t verify alas. 

I miss the violence (I mean, come on, in his assassin intro, he clearly massacred not just the Lord but his whole fam/defenders but they cut away), but even more I miss the fact that he was supposed to be darker. Makes me wonder how Goodbye My Princess got away with it a mere year ago. I mean, its male lead was a tragic antihero at best, and a villain at worst.

ANOTHER short list of games that i recommend giving a try because we need something to do during COVID [a lot of words and images, be careful]

I am One Bored Bitch who likes to play video games if I’m not writing fanfiction/poetry, caring for my animals or making memes. 

As much as I enjoy Outlast, this list is different compared to my other one simply because the games here don’t behave like Outlast at all. 

Access to PlaystationNow has me exploring new horizons and now I need to share my excitement. :D There will be lots of images and some spoilers, so be warned. I will try my damnedest not to reveal too much.

1. Vampyr

This game feeds my intense love of Victorian [?] London. It has an awesome storyline, the best aesthetic, and a hot protagonist. [His sister is lowkey cute, too. All of my homosexual/lesbian/bisexual homies, rise up]

You play as Jonathan Reid,

a vampire-turned surgeon who spends the game searching for the guy who turned him. He served in World War l until he got turned, so you know he’s a badass. 

The game was created by DONTNOD, and if you don’t know who they are, they created Life is Strange. This game behaves a bit like LIS - you have choices to make, and those choices have consequences - so it causes you to be careful and save the game before you make a decision.

What makes this game even more chaotic is that it takes place during the Influenza Epidemic [How fun! HOW IRONIC!] and the World War. The environment is also interactive; you can help the citizens around you, or feed off of them and kill them. [There are a couple of assholes, so the ‘kill’ option is so handy.]

It’s on XBOX, Steam, and PS4 [it’s free on PS4 if you use PSNow.]

2. [You saw this coming] Until Dawn

Ohhhh DEATHHHHHHHHH-

I’ll shut up now. But the intro is fucking amazing, you can’t tell me otherwise.

Until Dawn is a chaotic shitstorm that takes place in the Canadian mountains. That’s all the info you need.

...No, I’m kidding. But this will be long with a lot of images. There is a lot of explaining that needs to be done.

Until Dawn consists of 8 protagonists who you have to keep alive. I mean, you don’t have to, but that’s how you get the best ending.

There is Sam, one of my favourite characters,

Josh, my second favourite,

The Twins, Hannah [Left] and Beth [Right], sisters of Josh, 

Mike who I thought was an asshole at first but that changes,

Jess, the girlfriend of Mike,

Emily, the ex of Mike and a queen, but let’s be real, she can be a total bitch,

Matt, the boyfriend of Emily and the soft boy we all love and appreciate in this house,

Chris, my third favourite character,

and Ashley, who I despise [players of Until Dawn most likely know why],

So Mike, Emily, Ashley, Jess, and Matt were in on a prank that involved Hannah and Mike, because Hannah loved Mike but he was in a relationship with Emily at the time, and it went wrong due to Hannah running out into a blizzard. 

Josh and Chris are in drunken stupors and Sam is busy scolding her friends for being dickheads, so Beth runs into the cold Canadian climate to find her sister.

They both die under weird circumstances, and the game takes place a year later. 

I warn you, and I mean this; this game is INCREDIBLY gorey and will make your jaw drop due to the amount of plot twists and jumpscares. And we thought Outlast’s jumpscares were bad? Puhleeze.

The best part of this game is that YOU BEFRIEND A WOLF!!!!

I LOVE HIM SO MUCH. HIS NAME IS WOLFIE AND HE IS A GOOD BOY!!!!

Unfortunately, this masterpiece is PS4 exclusive. Horrendous, I know. :(

3. Assassins Creed Syndicate

Another game based in Old London. Oops! Not really. This is not an Oops whatsoever.

This is the first game I played on my PlayStation 4, and it’s something I play quite a lot. 

You play as two protagonists. They are twins.

Evie, the brains of the two who plans before taking action,

and Jacob, the lovable asshole who uses his fists in every situation possible,

They are master assassins trying to take back London from a hipster asshole with a very stylish mustache,

I’ve noticed that Ubisoft really hates hipsters. It’s funny.

This game will make you question your sexuality because you will love both Evie AND Jacob. It’s hard not to.

Not only that, but there is a character who is trans and a TOTAL BABE,

I love him, you love him, my dog loves him, God loves him, Aliens love him-

[His name is Ned, please treat him with respect he is a very beneficial ally :(]

It’s on PS4, XBOX, and Windows. Yum.

4. Life is Strange: The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit

It’s not very long, but it’s a treasure that you need to experience!

You play as a BLESSED LITTLE BOY NAMED CHRIS, WHO I WANT TO SPOIL AND HUG,

His imagination is very vivid, so you can expect to play as a superhero and find stuff to help make him a costume.

His dad is a fucking asshole, a piece of shit, a- 

[Please read on as I call his dad every insult under the sun]

Before you play, please be warned that Chris uses his imagination to cope with losing his mother and abuse from his father. You will experience this in the game, and that’s why I felt the need to warn you. It may bring back PTSD flashbacks or disturb you in general.

As someone who was abused by their father, I 100% sympathize with Chris and used my imagination to cope with my situation too. I kinda blame my upbringing for having a vivid imagination :/

cassius: ilana martin-king written by jessie. 

i don’t know if i’ve cried so fucking much reading any of these applications thus far, but holy fucking shit. ilana’s story is not really a roller coaster, but more of a downward spiral, huh ? you breathed such life into not only her character, but into the characters of her mothers that god, my heart broke every painful step of the way for them. you said it best: this is not a villain origin story. but even if it were, i still would’ve been rooting for ilana every step of the way, she’s just that fucking compelling, and i could feel her attitude, her personality, her ambition, and her resentment shine through with all of your writing. her voice seemed to flow so naturally in the letter and i loved the details of each individually headcanon that seemed to connect so well to the story itself ! ilana is just so fucking INSPIRED, i think, and i feel like you took this basic skeleton and you just...you turned it into an entire story of its own that i just genuinely enjoyed reading, i’m literally so excited for the rest of the group to get their hands on your intro...they’re going to be just as pumped as i am, i’m sure. 

hamlet: talbot griffith written by colleen.

what you brought to hamlet was something totally different and totally unexpected. i think it’ll be a shock to our dash, since most of our hamlets have been quite similar, but i am fond of the newness of your portrayal ! i was so drawn in by your ideas, that talbot didn’t and doesn’t resent octavia, he adores/d her, and that he actually has an amicable, healing relationship with his father ( well, even if there’s something in it for t, of course. ) essentially, talbot, just like lysander, is different than the media’s portrayal – and everyone’s perceptions. i love your juxtaposition – talbot has the rage, the lack of control, while lysander was calm and controlled in comparison. i think this in itself will cause interesting conflicts within the group and it begs so many more questions. your character pretty much makes me wish that we did have a playable lysander because i would just die to see their dynamic and the family drama between them come to life on the dash. we’ll find ways to do this still, of course. don’t worry. 

horatio: mara kim written by danny.

i don’t know how many apps it’s been, but this one’s the charm, and trust me, it didn’t come easy !! mara is definitely a whirlwind of drama and trauma, i almost don’t know where to start. i think my favorite thing was the way you weaved in the connections so seamlessly and how you really capitalized on what her time was like being sent overseas to an american school and...alongside that, mara’s lifelong search to BELONG, to find a kindred spirit, to feel understood. mara is a hybrid in the society, coming from poverty and a broken home, but...also coming from new privilege and money. in a way, she can relate to everyone, which is so dangerous because she’s wicked smart. i love her attitude mixed with her dreamy mentality and love of classics, which i guess is what dark academia is all about. but god, what a fucking mess this one is, truly.

oh, holy shit ! you had me hooked right from the aesthetic and name analysis, god i’m weak and desperate to learn more about this fucking asshole. not to mention, before i get into anything else, you have such a way with words, i love the way your descriptions just painted pictures for me, it was hard not to get swept up in the entire concept. i felt like i got such an understanding of the sibling bond with the prestons – it really broke my heart when xandre found out about tavi’s baby, and how hurt he was that she didn’t tell him – because she should know that he, of all people, would understand. not to mention his understanding and admiration for her ( and the acknowledgement that maybe, she should’ve been the preston heir ? and i oop – ) can’t stop thinking about your letter: I’ll watch over Wolfie. Of course I will.  I’ll get him piss drunk at that club you mentioned last time we talked, bring a few lines and a bottle of dom all just for you, gorgeous. gonna love this asshole on the dash, too. let’s fuckin go.
