minor life update, major news

I know a few of you know and a lot of you don't, but I've been fighting with workers comp for an entire year now to get an MRI done on my neck and upper back due to an overuse injury I obtained from lifting so much.

I have permanent nerve damage in my back. It causes me a lot of pain to sit for long periods of time as the unique burning and electricity of nervous pain starts before the muscles lock up, often accompanied by the ring and pinky fingers of my left hand going numb. I have days where I am entirely bedridden.

I have had my MRI denied five times.

Today, 08/01/2024, I received a letter in the mail stating that they have overturned that denial and I am finally getting what I fought so hard for.

It may or may not tell me what is actually going on in my neck and back, but I have put so much blood, sweat, and tears into this.

I finally won.

every time Davrin sits, his knees are like a mile apart

and it's not just the default "sitting" animation, because everyone (other than Taash) sits with their legs together, and he also does it when he's crouching and kneeling too

his default state, when his legs are at all bent, seems to be just straight up manspreading

ok and i apologize for accidentally misgendering him but i called him a she bc that’s what the tik tok video by someone else had said, so that is not as tho it was on purpose bc “he went overboard.” i simply didn’t know. also your “friend” is literally a nasty individual who threatens people graphically online so i think u have some more pressing things to be calling people out for !!

ah. I've just learned from yet another terrible Humans Are Space Orcs post that these people have an acronym for the genre: HFY, short for humans fuck yeah. which I actually managed to guess correctly.

I found this out because poeple in the notes of the terrible post were linking to a story and I'm reading the reviews and the top most upvoted one is one talking about all the problems with this whole Humans Are Special kind of thing.

Contrived Beyond Belief

The author tries. They really, really try to write good HFY. The characters are good and three dimensional. But the genre is HFY and that, by definition, means Mary Sue applied to an entire species. It's a bad story that gets worse the more and more HFY tropes get included.

The worldbuilding is contrived beyond belief. We're expected to believe the entire galaxy has almost entirely herbivorous species reach sapience. They believe that only herbivores could do it because 'ooo carnivores are sooo spooky and could never work together'.

Because somehow, none of their world's predatory wildlife ever works together. Ever.

And we're also expected to believe every single one of these herbivorous species has a constitution that makes fainting goats look like the pinnacle of health, prone to collapse at the faintest hint of opposition. Because aggressive herbivores don't exist, obviously. (Hint: They do. Even on Earth.) It's not even described well. The herbivore aliens being scared don't describe the fear, it's just 'oh I feel a rush of fear chemicals'. Who writes that way?

Oh and nevermind that humans, the galactic newcomers are, OF COURSE, the ones who decide the entire fate of the galaxy and rapidly overtake everyone else. Give me a break.

The grammar and spelling and such are all top notch. But you can't polish a turd and make it anything else. I'm sorry.

nothing about this is really funny to me, a korean, seeing my country being disrespected by the french government's inability to distinguish between Democratic People's Republic of Korea and Republic of Korea/South Korea. they repeated the proper name for North Korea when they appeared later. the north korean athletes haven't been able to compete since pyeongchang 2018 they deserved respect. both did. if they had messed both up on purpose, it would cause political backlash. it still has, just like this.

The most annoying part of being an IDW Megatron fan is that the extreme ends of people who love him OR people who hate him are both annoying in different ways.

No, Megatron haters, Megatron being a war criminal doesn't mean he can't have a redemption arc or be humanized in some kind of way. Stop accusing people of sympathizing for real life crimes because they found a fictional character compelling. Megatron fans can engage with whatever parts of the character they want to and they have no moral duty to self-flagellate for liking a guy who killed billions of people.

No, Megatron stans, Megatron having good intentions doesn't absolve him of the guilt of everything bad he did. Megatron being a person with rights doesn't mean that every character who (rightfully) hates him or challenges him is just an evil meanie trying to torment him. People who don't like Megatron have VERY REAL reasons to like him, they're not just antis throwing a shitfit about him being problematic. Why are you stanning War Crime McGee if you're not emotionally mature enough to cope with the fact that many people will hate him for the very canon and very plot-important crimes he committed.

I loved how in all the "Sanji equal to zoro" arguments (which I just observe and am not a part of bc you nerds take shit too serious) was like "Sanji held off queen all by himself" while chopper wrecked queen for like a full half hour by himself while Sanji was at his dominatrix appointment! and y'all won't give chopper any props for that. tbh chopper is more equal to zoro bc they both have a semblance of duty and manners too.

Fasting isn't a sin because its considered a way of developing the virtue of self discipline. (As far as i understand.) But obviously there needs to be care with this as some people make it a works thing and believe they're more moral the less they eat. Anyone tempted to an ED should not fast

Fasting is not the same as missing meals

As I understand, fasting is done pretty purposefully, and I would imagine treating your selfish meal skips of ‘oh what a hassle, let me just not eat’ as something spiritual is probably a bad thing to do in general

But there is a lot I don’t know about the fasting process yet, so deets on the topic are welcome either way
