My name's Angel, but you can also call me Molly or Bug. My pronouns are fluid but they usually float around they/he/it in English, and ele/elu/dile in Portuguese. WIP: After the Fall (The Sallow Chronicles 1)
source: design by me, elements and fonts from Canva First off, I wanna thank everyone who reposted and liked my author intro post! All of your supportive and kind-hearted comments are the reason I was so driven to make this intro ASAP. Secondly, I know this post is a little lengthy. I will give a virtual round of applause to anyone who reads the whole thing :)
Overview:
Genre: Fantasy-ish Steampunk Themes and Tropes: Quests •Power of friendship •Underdogs• Daring rescues• Childhood sweethearts• Specialized characters• Found family• Betrayals •Evil queen •Hero who failed •Travelling long distances• Then everything changed when the Hvalans attacked• Parent's generation royally messed up current events POV: First Person following multiple characters Content Warning: The book takes place during a war; there is blood, violence, and death.
Blurb:
"The people strengthen the crown, and the crown strengthens Altamura." This promise was recited, without fail, by West Hyland's Rulers since the towering wall called Altamura was constructed almost a thousand years ago. So when the Hvalan Empire marched on Eadric's pass, the people believed in their King's promise. They continued believing even after the King was shot down in battle. They continued believing even when the Hvalan-tamed Sallow beasts descended from the Northern Wastelands. But that faith crumbled the day Altamura fell. Several years later, the new Hylander King rules over a country of broken trust. To save the nation, he must untangle the web of lies and betrayals that led to the fall of Altamura. With the help of his trusted commander, a talented mechaneer, and a new ally, a Hvalan heir long thought to be dead, his band might just win the Hylander people's confidence- And just maybe the war...
POV Characters:
Quinn Roscoe🐦: Quinn has been told many times how she got her scars. First, there was the lie her father, Mason Roscoe, told her when she was decidedly too young to understand. Then there was the half-truth he told her when she found out she wasn't his flesh and blood. It wasn't until Altamura fell that she learned the truth. She didn't blame her father for the lies, nor was she relieved to learn her true identity, but the truth did help her understand why she and her father had to go into hiding. Several years ago, they moved their smithery business to the small coastal city of Ealder, far from the war front. Now that the Hvalan army has taken the city under siege, Quinn and Mason will have to use their Hylander contacts to escape the city before the Hvalan army find her. Leon Hanley-Altamura🦁: Leon is the child of two prominent West Hyland families. The Hanleys, whose ancestors governed from the capital city Rowan, and the Altamuras, whose ancestors were tasked with building and guarding their namesake wall. As the only child born of this union, Leon symbolized the ancient bond between the crown and the wall. He can clearly remember his father at countless parades and political addresses reciting the oath that represented this same bond. It was the same oath his father shouted to his soldiers the day he died. "The crown strengthens Altamura." Leon never got to take the oath generations of Hanleys had taken before him. His coronation didn't take place in the Rowan temple, blessed by Eir's mercy. Instead, he was crowned King from the back of an auto-buggy while retreating from his home, his birthright. Haste silenced any emotion he could have felt as the new living ruler of a dying kingdom, all but the longing to return. Adelaine Tihifra🌷: For Adelaine, the war started long before Altamura fell. She indeed remembers the unworldly crack that splintered through the air and the panicked rumble in her chest as polished stone crashed into the earth. But for her, the war started when a group of slighted nobles organized a failed coup that took the lives of the Chief Defense Officer and his wife, her parents. She remembers her mother scream a warning from the second floor of their upper-district townhome. She remembers her father shoving her behind the heavy curtain. She remembers the smell of iron and the sticky liquid that soaked her socks. Though the culprits were caught and killed for their treason, her life would never be whole again.
After the fall, Adelaine followed her King to the new capital in the south. She'd hoped she could build a life where the only metal she smelled came from her handiwork as a mechaneer. However, the war front produces a never-ending line of injured reminders to the world she lives in. Gabe Sobuma🌟: Gabe had a happy childhood as the son of a lower nobleman and a Tsuran priestess. Then, something changed. Gabe is haunted by the night things went wrong. The night he watched his father and other nobles attempt a coup. The night Gabe pulled his best friend through her window from where she was hiding behind a curtain. The night he testified against his father to the palace constables. After Altamura, Gabe was hollow from years of being defined by his father's atrocities. He was desperate to find a place where no one would recognize him. So when the new King offered him a critical position on the Northern front, he took it without delay. Now, the city he is stationed at is under siege. Emboldened with a new yearning to return home, he knows he must gather whatever intel he can before attempting to escape the city of Ealder.
Draft Sample (Gabe POV):
Death hovers in my shadow, ever-growing with the setting sun. She lingers in the empty streets and the boarded-up shops; she's with the families of the fallen and the blades of the victors. As I look out over the terrible stillness enveloping the city, I realize this whole mercy-forsaken town reeks of her. I fear I will never get the sulfurous stench off my hands. A few weeks ago, the sea-stone walls of Ealder marked a rift between warring nations. Small enough to evade most foreign maps and far enough off the front to conduct our operations unnoticed. Yet today, I stare bitterly bewildered at the pale barrier from afar, noting the timed rotation of soldiers made visible through crumbled remains. I was the King's eyes on the northern border. I was sent here to prevent another loss. I failed. I watch the sun dance across wolf emblazoned breastplates before bidding a last goodbye beneath Hanan Bay. I take one last glance at the alien sentinels, then let the burnt curtain slip from my hand and fall back over the cracked window before leaving the abandoned brownstone someone once called home.
Inspirations:
Chapter 1:
Nascence-Journey-Austin Wintory
Episode 1- Violet Evergarden
The Bastion album by Darren Korb

Welcome to Old Pepper Place
Hello all! On the eve of my 200 follower landmark I have decided to make good on my promise to introduce you all to my newest WIP: Old Pepper Place.
The gist: Old Pepper Place is not like any of the works I’ve done before. First of all, the tone is a lot more happy and playful than my other projects. I’ve based it more off of things like Hilda or Gravity Falls than Star Wars or Percy Jackson. This makes it a lot easier to write for me, as whenever I’m in a good mood I actually want to write it (crazy how that actually helps). It’s also different because it takes place on Earth. I know, a totally original concept right? Well for me worldbuilding has always been more important than writing, so working with things that already exist like trains and colleges and pancakes is a refreshing change.
The premise: Old Pepper Place is a story about a 27 year old brand new biology professor who moves into a house in the Vermont wilderness. She’s there for the summer to conduct research and relax, but finds secrets and mysteries that aren’t conducive to either. She ends up discovering that in the wilderness lies life and magic beyond our wildest dreams (see what I did there?). She becomes entangled in the feud between hill trolls and mountain trolls, and the bureaucratic sludge of the squirrel parliament, and the wrath of a mushroom gnome after you accidentally step on their house. And she never wants to leave.
Characters: Old Pepper Place is kind of a unique project for me in that it all takes place in one setting. There’s no moving around and meeting various tavern keepers or traffic cops or intergalactic kings. While there are some exceptions like Mrs. Finkus the mysterious neighbor, Tilda the mushroom gnome, and Stand the train man, Old Pepper Place has a very limited cast of characters, with really only three being large focuses of the story. Maya: officially named Mycelium by her massively nerdy biologist parents, Maya is the main protagonist and first person narrator of the story. She’s a massive bookworm and finds out most of Old Pepper Place’s secrets by reading the hundreds and hundreds of books that line the shelves of the house. Her curiosity is insatiable, and it drives her past any doubts or fears she may have. When confronted with a magical creature Maya doesn’t doubt its existence, she tries to ask it questions. A huge fan of pants with pockets, Maya always has a notebook and pen on her, as well as some starbursts and a field guide of local plants. Carlos: Maya’s best friend since early college, Carlos lives in the nearby city of Burlington, only an hour trip away from Old Pepper Place by way of the Emerald Express. Carlos is Maya’s connection to the outside world, and he brings her supplies on a weekly basis, mostly consisting of groceries. He’s originally dubious of Maya’s claims of the valley’s magical residents, but he comes around soon enough when Maya convinces him to help her host a faerie tea party. Carlos is quick to smile, and even quicker to help whenever Maya needs it. On all of the things that he’s able to help with, that is. Malaki: Malaki is the help that Maya calls in whenever Carlos will be completely ineffectual. Malaki is a boreal dragon, named after his glowing rainbow body and iridescent skin, both of which are reminiscent of the aurora borealis. He is Maya’s connection and source of information on the magical world. She first attracts him to Old Pepper Place accidentally while making mac and cheese. Malaki loves mac and cheese. After that she’s always willing to make a pot of it for Malaki in exchange for a little information or advice. They quickly become very good friends. Mac and cheese will do that, ya know?
Setting: Old Pepper Place is a fascinating place. It’s actually based on a place I stayed with a camp once, but that’s besides the point. It’s a surprisingly large house, constructed seemingly randomly with extensions and additions tacked on until it looks like a mashup of four different houses overlapped on top of each other. It lies in a valley in the great Vermont woods, surrounded by mountains on all sides and without a road in sight. The only way to reach Old Pepper Place is by train, The Emerald Express to be precise. Behind the house is a breathtaking field full of butterflies and songbirds. Beyond that are the woods. They encroach on the house like outstretched arms, ancient and beckoning. This forest stretches on for countless miles, hiding a myriad of mysteries and many fun magical creatures that Maya is bound to stumble across eventually. They’re full of babbling brooks, and lakes surrounded by pine trees, and clearings carpeted with wildflowers, and old stone walls covered in moss, and trees that are more vine than tree, and patches of lilac bushes so thick you can’t see past their pale purple flowers. Hardwood trees tower above, their impenetrable canopies bathing everything in a dim, dusky, half-light. They give off an old, powerful energy that makes you feel very small. And really, in the forest, you are.
Various knick knacks: Now I could get into plot points here about the nature of magic in this story, or what Maya does to accidentally disrupt it, but that’s all stories for later days. It’s getting late and I don’t really have time to explain how the night sky is actually just a giant spirit called a constellate that protects us from the cold emptiness of outer space while simultaneously gathering and exuding starlight, or how faeries have four separate governments that rotate in and out throughout the four seasons leading to political unrest and upheaval in the forest multiple times a year. Those are stories for another time, but don’t worry. I will tell them. Until then, it’s been a pleasure, -Nathan

Original Fic Fest Intro!
@originalficfest
Hello hello! Looks like Original Fic Fest is coming up quick, so I figured I should post a little bit of an actual intro. I know I just did my writblr introduction, but I figured I’d give y’all some more information about me!
About The Author:
My name is Mia, and I’m obsessed with dragons. Like, legitimately, I love dragons. Everything about dragons. I tend to write exclusively fantasy, but I’ve been known to dabble in more modern settings, with some post-apocalyptic nonsense thrown in there, too. I tend to attempt novels more than anything, but I have more completed short stories and drabbles than anything. I’ve been writing for about 20 years (with some periods of creative deadness due to Depression), and it’s honestly the closest thing I’ve got to a passion, right up there with reading, of course. I also tend to read fantasy almost exclusively, with YA fantasy being right up there as one of my favorite genres.
About The Work:
My biggest and best WIP is my novel, My Soul to Keep. I started working on this novel roughly March 2017, and spent most of that year plotting, planning, and world building. I started actually writing in November for NaNoWriMo 2017, and I’m finally at long last almost done with the first complete draft.
My Soul to Keep is a fun mix of Fantasy, YA, and LGBT+ fiction. It features a cast of diverse and fully queer characters, up to and including an Ace Protagonist, a pan-sexual/aromantic bard, and a canon OT3 (made up of bi, demi, and aro folks). Also a foul-mouthed unicorn. You can find an excerpt of this novel in my WIP page, along with a little more info about some of the characters!
I’m really looking forward to this fest, can’t wait to see everyone else’s stuff!

The Oc Masterpost
[redacted version]
A while ago, somebody sent me an ask asking who my ocs where. I wanted to make a proper introdution, so on each link is a post with a certain cast of ocs. They are separated for wip, and there is a little bit of context on the top of each one.
1. Ein
2. Totsuka and Megan: Mishappen Heroes (updated! Meet Donatello and Lady Iz)
3. The War Of The Human Throne (updated! Meet Aalyah.)
4. 9 Gates Of Hell
5. Across Time & Odds
6. Project Three (placeholder name)
7. Little Red Riding Hood Cyberpunk
8. The Snow White One
Still on the brainstorm phase:
9. (coming out eventually)
10. (about a knight girl and her sassy trans magician friends. Ugh--coming out eventually)
11. (chosen one story--coming out eventually)
Wipless ones:
12. Petrichor oc - he was born of a redrawing i did of an old piece. In the original drawing, the character was a girl but I decided to make him trans just like me. He has long pink hair and is a witch on a modern witch academy. That's all his lore. Main traits: Cocky, playful, confident.
Note: If there are any typos or things that you couldn't understand, please lmk! I want to make them very neat and simple to read.

Ein - tag: ein wip
Genre: Fantasy
What is it about: A bunch of teenagers who get involved in a secret magic society and are now trying to prevent it from going to war
Who is in it:
Kaiki (he/him) - I. I'm still trying to flesh him out. He's a complicated guy. He's transgender, ambue (the word I picked for non-magic people), and became a magician kind of by accident. Currently, at Onemia there is this phenomena happening where some weird magic stuff is happening, including turning ambue into magicians. This is the character I have the hardest time with, tbh.
Arielle (they/she) - Main traits: Paficist, stoic, responsible, emotional. She is a natural Onemian (Onemia is the magical country) and works as a junior patroillueur. The Patrol is a part of Onemia’s military force and their job is to prevent the ambue world (aka non-magic world) of getting troubled by magic or finding out about Onemia. They care a lot but don’t seem like so. Tall af.
Lis (she/her) - Main traits: Chaotic dumbass, girly, cute. Lis is also ambue (non-magic) and became a magician by accident. She is albino, dyslexic, and likes lots of colorful cutesy stuff. She has a feisty personality and she masks some of her insecurities. Lis doesn’t have many difficulties with magic, and tbh, she’s great at it.
Lucy (she/it) - Main traits: Insecure, soft, smart. Lucy is ambue, and she is a very low-energy calm person. She’s trans, gnc, and sometimes lets people misgender her coz she thinks it’s nothing worth the trouble. She is the only one in the main cast who is neither Onemian nor Brazilian: She is actually Usamerican (her father is half-British and her mom is Brazilian). She grew up in the US but came to her grandmother’s house to study here in her second year of highschool. When speaking in pPortuguese she just uses she/her cuz there is no it/its in the language.
Lali (he/him) - Main traits: Flamboyant, confident, stubborn. Lali is a natural onemian like Arielle and is quite a celebrity. He is very very talented at magic and comes from a wealthy magician family. In his introdution in the storyline, Arielle is hired to protect him as a bodyguard, because the guy who originally had the job kept misgendering him and Lali is known for being hotheaded and not colaborating with people he doesn't like. He is gnc.
Simba (he/him) - Main traits: Empathetic, does what it needs to be done, quiet, intimidating, quick. Simba is the prince of Onemia. I have a hard time defining his family lore but his mom is the Grand-Countess, kind of like the queen of Onemia, and his other mother is an important politican. Technically Onemia is not a monarchy and the charge is not passed foward for heirs BUT to be the Gran-Countex you have to have a lot of things in your curriculum like having political and military training and the current ruler always make sure that their heir has the necessary formation, so it isn't uncommon for a singke family to stay in power for a couple regenerations, as it is the current case. Simba is supposed to be the third ruler on his bloodline and he is on a magic military academy for his formation. He is also not very fleshed out.
Note: Hard magic system.
Secondary characters:
Giulia (she/her) - A nice girl who is Arielle's coworker and queerplatonic partner. She is like. A sunshine. Patrollieur. I will flesh her out better later but I love her.
Luna (she/her) - Kaiki's sister. They're around the same age and have a love/hate relationship. Sarcastic, seems confident, but actually is very troubled.
Tatiana (she/her) - Luna and Kaiki's older sister. She's on college and is autistic. She cares a lot about her siblings and usually tries to prevent them from getting at eachother's throats.
Estella (she/her) - Their younger sister. She is still a toddler and loves puzzles.
Aunt Alice (she/her) - The sibling's aunt and guardian. Their parents are divorced and the kids ended up living with her some years ago. She is a nice and caring guardian. Mostly.
Clarisse (she/her) - Tatiana's classmate. They're best friends and lots of people think they're dating.
