#remember when we couldn’t take the heat#I walked out said I’m setting you free#but the monsters turned out to be! just! trees!#when the sun came up you were looking at me!!!!#oh you were looking at me#😭♥️😭😭😭😭😭#do you ever think about how moments of connection in Taylor songs is so rare#just. that moment when the beloved is looking back AT her —it almost never happens#and when it does she’s so quick to write it down and hold on to it forever#locked in her steel-trap memory#you almost ran the red cause you were looking over at me#I am always thinking about Ann Powers saying that a Taylor song is just Taylor alone with a man creating the world of the Moment#whatever it is#and most of the time it’s profoundly lonely#the thing Taylor does NOT have (I believe) are friendships that go to the core#that are personal and individual —where she is Seen and Loved#and so she’s still looking for it in romance and mostly not finding it 😭#but man there is something so poignant about Taylor writing from and filling in the silences of a space so many women find themselves in#alone with a man who won’t look at them#I have never been there and venture to predict I never will be#but Taylor has lived most of her adult life there#and then the other half doing the work of transcribing it#shakes me to my CORE#anyways to circle back for a second—out of the woods HAS the moment of connection#and it feels as raw and vulnerable and simple as it probably was#like. for a second we really are just in the hospital room with them#when she says—when you started crying baby I did too I can SEE her just standing there#all nearly 6 feet of her probably in her little ski outfit tears streaming down her face!#but it’s still a point of connection because he’s looking back at her in that moment#I have made myself cry

thank you so much for reading feedback is appreciated I love you all dearly! sorry if there are any mistakes! 🖤
“If you love me right then who knows?”
You knew this was a terrible idea, letting him back in, but when he had shown up at your door, shivering and crying you just couldn’t say no. The soft morning glow of the sun illuminates his face beautifully as you stand at your bedroom door.
His eyelashes flutter as he turns a little in his sleep, the long black curls you’ve always loved are wild and messy. “What are you doing to me Eddie?” You whisper, shaking your head and fighting back tears.
He came to you because he didn’t know where else to go, having moved away from Hawkins years ago. It was hours away and you were only fifteen minutes down the road, so Eddie did what he knew best, he came back to you.
This isn’t the first time he’s shown back up since the two of you split years ago, but for some reason in this moment the air feels different. He looks so peaceful in your bed, he looks like he fits, like this is his home too.
You glance at the calendar above your bed, it’s Sunday. You have nowhere to be but right here with the man that you’re still so in love with, it’s painful.
You slowly make your way over to your bed, gently setting yourself down on it, not wanting to wake him yet. The fight the two of you had gotten into last night when he just showed up was still fresh in your mind.
“You can’t just come right back Eddie! You always do this!” You had screamed, tears streaming down your face as you leaned back against your front door.
The night ended differently than you would’ve expected, Eddie had kissed you, and he didn’t stop kissing. You both knew this would only lead to more hurt down the road but neither of you cared.
You’re so wrapped up in your thoughts that you don’t hear Eddie wake up until his hand gently brushes your arm. “Hey.. you okay baby?” He whispers. ‘Baby’ you wanted to tell him that’s not who you were to him anymore, but you couldn’t.
“I’m alright. Did you sleep okay?” You ask, brushing a piece of his hair away from his face. He nods slowly, sitting up. You both stare at each other for a minute, Eddie’s eyes are puffy with sleep and it only makes him look even more attractive.
You smile timidly, damn him for making you feel every single feeling you’ve been working so hard on pushing down for years. “Good, I was gonna make something to eat if you’re hungry?” You ask, going to stand up before Eddie’s grabbing your hand, pulling you back down.
His dark eyes may as well be looking right through you as he keeps you in place. He’s very obvious, you’ve seen that look a million times before, the only thing Eddie is hungry for at the moment is you.
“Ed, I don’t think that’s such a good idea-” you start off, chewing your lip nervously as he pulls you closer to where he’s leaning back against your headboard. “If anything, let me have you for just one more night, I understand if you want me to leave forever after that. I just need to feel you one more time.”
Your heart is pounding beneath your chest, you knew this wouldn’t be the last time, you knew you wanted him. You needed him. Your body reacts before your mind can make up words to say back to him, you straddle yourself over his lap and gently reach down to hold his face. “I’ve never stopped loving you Eddie Munson.” You whisper.
The prettiest smile breaks out over those pouty lips that you could kiss for hours, “Show me then.” He says back, it’s a challenge. You bite back a laugh at how desperately Eddie’s clinging to you right now. His big hands are gripping onto your hips, you hope they bruise you want to remember this forever.
Eddie can be soft sometimes, even if he doesn’t look like it, and this is definitely one of those times. You could break him, and he would let you. You wanted to wreck him and rebuild him after. He groans lowly beneath you as you slowly circle your hips, grinding down against his lap for just a few seconds before stopping.
“Please don’t stop, I need to feel you.” He almost whimpers out, so pathetic, how much he needs you. You lean down slowly and kiss up the side of his neck, biting down against his jaw hard enough that it draws out a little blood. You wanted pain, you wanted him to feel everything that you’ve felt, you wanted him to know that if he fucks up this time he will never see you again.
“Fuck. You little vixen.” He bites out as you run your hands down his shoulders, you keep them going as you shuffle back off of his lap. “Gonna ruin you, is that what you came here for?” You ask as he bites his lip. He nods quickly, watching you pull your sheets back away from his body. “Oh, how cute baby, look how hard you’ve gotten and all I did was sit in your lap for a minute, admit it, you need me.”
You pull the covers all the way off of him, shuffling down to lay on your stomach in front of him as you run your hand teasingly against his length that’s straining behind his tight boxers. “I-fuck, I need you, I love you, I’m sorry for being such an idiot and leaving before please, even if you don’t want me anymore just use me today, that’s all I want.”
You smile up at him, that’s exactly the answer you wanted. If he thinks he can just come back and instantly win you over he is sorely mistaken, he’s going to work for it. You dig your nails into his skin a little as a hiss breaks its way out of his mouth, before you’re pulling his boxers down. You must be going far too slow for his liking because you swear you hear him start begging as his cock finally slaps back against his stomach.
You’ve missed him so bad, and you’ve missed feeling him inside of you almost more than the relationship you once had shared. Your mouth waters at the sight of his thick length, the head is leaking pre-cum against his stomach as you tap your fingers lazily against his thighs. “Why should I suck you off baby? I don’t know if you deserve my mouth anymore.” He moans loudly, pushing his hands against his eyes before he’s grabbing the back of your neck, pulling you closer to him.
You laugh quietly, he’s so hard it must be hurting by now. “Fuck…. Please I know I don’t deserve it okay? I don’t, but just, please I’ll be so good I’ll do anything to have you again baby.” You lick your lips slowly, before you’re spitting down onto the head. “Fine, but it’s at my pace, don’t you fucking move.” You can hear the air leave his lungs as you slowly wrap one of your hands tightly against him, stroking him slowly and spreading your saliva all over him.
You know just how he likes it, sloppy and loud, you are determined to make sure he remembers this, if today really is the last time. Focusing back on him you lean down and kiss up the side of his cock before you’re at the very top, you flutter your eyelashes up at him as his stomach tenses. He’s so beautiful, you sink your mouth down around him and the most beautiful sound comes out of his throat. Sure, Eddie is a good singer, but the sounds he makes for you have always been better than music.
It only takes a few more minutes of absolutely setting out to ruin Eddie, before his hips are threatening to lift off the bed. You know he wants to fuck your mouth, but you specifically told him not to move, so you pull off of him and slap his thigh. “I thought I said no moving, don’t you wanna be my good boy?” He looks like he’s on the verge of tears as he frantically apologizes, reaching to grip onto you. You can feel him shaking as you sit back up onto your knees.
“Don’t deserve my mouth anymore, you can’t even listen to instructions baby, but I’ll let you have my pussy. The only thing is, you’re not cumming.” Your stomach is already wound tight at the thought of having him inside you again, you waste no time in pulling your panties off and throwing them down onto the floor. Eddie looks like an absolute wreck already, his hair stuck to his face, eyes blown full of lust and love as he looks up at you. “Please just fuck me.” He whispers.
Reaching behind yourself to grab his cock again you rub the tip against yourself over and over, you can feel it pulsing against your hand. You knew how bad he needed to cum but for now things were going to be about you. You tense up as you slowly slide yourself down onto him, he’s so thick it almost hurts. “You’re so fucking beautiful.” He gasps out, his hands gripping the sheets below you as you finally bottom out around him.
You wait a few minutes to adjust before you are lifting yourself back up, the drag of his cock inside of you is addicting and you don’t know if you’ll even last very long. You drop back down again, moaning loudly as every nerve in your body feels like it’s on fire. “Fuck, I’ve missed you baby, please, want you to fill me up when I say you can, need to feel you leaking back out of me for days Eddie.” His hands are all over your body, pulling, gripping, never wanting to let go. The both of you are breathing into each other’s mouths, crying out in pleasure and love.
It’s like nothing had ever happened, you wanted this for life, and you know at this moment he wants it too. He’s barely holding himself together as you bounce on his lap like some sort of angelic nymph. He can’t decide whether he wants to sing filthy praises or spill his heart out about how much he loves you as his cock rubs against that spot in you that sends both of you into a frenzy. “That’s it, fuck Eddie please, oh my god, cum now baby, fill me up, give me all of your love and let me feel it.”
‘Bad idea!’ Your mind was screaming, but your heart and body didn’t care, all the nasty thoughts of how much you hated what he did to you were slowly being stripped away from you. Eddie doesn’t know a lot, but right now he knows he is never letting go of you again. He stops holding back as you tense down around him again, leaning your forehead against his as he runs his hands down your back, gripping onto your ass. The neighbors must be getting a good show with how loud you both are.
You can feel him break beneath you, his body trembling as ‘I love you’ spills out of his lips over and over, your own orgasm washes over you quickly when Eddie bites down on your collar bone, sucking a bruise right into your soft skin. The both of you cling to each other as your highs slowly come down, you feel like you could nap forever with how spent your body is.
Another quiet moan slips past your lips as Eddie lifts you off of him slowly, you can feel his cum leaking out of you and down onto your thighs. “What a beautiful mess you are.” He whispers, leaning over to kiss you on your forehead as tears well up in your eyes. “Eddie?” You ask quietly, your throat hurts from how loud you’d been only moments ago. He doesn’t reply right away, instead he reaches for his Metallica shirt that’s on the floor, slowly pulling it down over your head and helping you put your arms through.
It smells like heaven, it smells like everything you’ve missed. “Yes baby?” He asks. “Please, don’t hurt me again. Don’t let me go.” You feel a tear slip down your cheek before it’s quickly being wiped away by his calloused fingers. “You’re never leaving my sight again, I was such an idiot when we were younger, but I want you, I want us forever.” He leans his forehead against yours as you both sit there in silence, maybe you could work again. Who knows?
The rest of the morning is softer, after you both had a moment to catch your breath Eddie had helped you into a bath, getting in behind you to rub your sore muscles as you laughed quietly while sharing things you’d missed out on since you’d last seen each other. This was easy, it was familiar, it was love. You couldn’t fight back smiling as you watched him standing at your oven, flipping a pancake over in a frying pan and almost dropping it onto the floor.
You knew opening the door for him was potentially opening your heart up to be broken again, but for Eddie you would risk everything, even your heart.

What We Want - Chpt. 8 - Jason Fucking Todd
In Which A Romantic Breaks The Universe
(Yandere!batboys x f!reader) 18+ MDNI!
SUMMARY
Another lonely birthday, another empty year. You miss your family. You're late for your bills and rent, and even then, you got robbed last Tuesday.
Still, you buy yourself a cupcake, because you need it. I mean, hey. What's dessert for if not to get over cheating boyfriends and dead relatives?
As you blow out the candle, watching the clock switch from 11:59 pm to midnight of the next day, you make a wish.
And because the world doesn't like to make much sense, it comes true. Your life is suddenly flipped on a dime, and you're stuck trying to catch up with it. Fantasy becomes reality. You're a Wayne now, apparently. Or you used to be. You're loved, you're rich, you're talented and powerful.
Well, sort of. Careful what you wish for, right?
(TRIGGER WARNINGS AND MASTERLIST HERE)
PREV - NEXT
Well, look on the bright side of things. You’re not crying right now. That’s nice. You’re not an intern anymore. That’s nice. You struggle to think of anything else. Oh yeah, you’re rich! That’s also nice. You’re not dead. Nice.
This is kind of pathetic. You just feel bummed after having to break up with George a second time. And getting smacked right in the face by him. Which you know, anybody would be, you think. You don’t think a single soul has ever known the George Lancaster Break-Up Special more than once. And you didn’t think anyone would be stupid enough to fall for that asshole more than once.
You couldn’t fake a brave face anymore, you just didn’t have the energy for it.
…And let’s not forget almost dying via Joker goon. Not even the man himself, just a random lackey. You think of how he literally disappeared in front of your eyes, and decide you are going to stop thinking. It’s doing you no good anyway.
Instead, you just start walking. Letting your feet and your intimate knowledge of Gotham’s streets, even in this area you don’t often frequent, guide you. You find yourself at the train station. With little consideration, you buy a ticket to the southern part of the city. The bad side of town, the docks, where your apartment used to be.
You feel like a little rat scurrying back into the sewers as you hop on the subway, tucking yourself in between people who don’t recognise you, probably because of your general dishevelment.
Shoulders knocking against strangers, you feel the most at home since this whole disaster started. You stare across the train car, watching a baby babble to its mother. It catches your eye, gives you a big toothless smile, and some snot dribbles into it’s mouth. The mother notices and cleans the baby up with a tissue. When she catches you staring, you give a very awkward but friendly smile, and she smiles back.
A tiny weight lifts off your shoulders. Surrounded by the chaos of Gotham, as the subway exits the tunnels and heads up onto the sky rails, you find yourself warm by the rays of sun through the clouds. The view is beautiful, as it always is. Usually, you’d be looking at your phone, too busy to enjoy the sights. But it really is beautiful.
It’s only when you hear the announcer calling out that you realise you did this for a reason, and dart out of your seat and through the narrowly closing doors. The metal closes behind you with a small hiss. The Docks station, for most people, would be one of the better Gotham train stations. Newly built, and with all the tourist money it was clean. Well, clean as it could get. You’d read some article about the bacteria the rats were carrying being not found anywhere else on earth, and you’d decided to stop reading articles.
Anyway, for you, even the shining marble of the station was a sad sight. Because you only ever came here on your very worst days.
This seemed like one of them.
The familiar streets flit past you, barely something you’re even cognisant of. This part of the city was mostly new, the concrete fresh under your feet instead of littered with potholes. Still, it wasn’t at the centre of the blast radius, so it hadn’t been totally demolished.
No, that was just up ahead. And like everything else in this weird new world, you immediately noticed something different. Where your family had died was… still there, for some reason.
With confusion, exhaustion, and no small bit of despair, you stop in the middle of the pathway outside the remnants of what used to be an old diner and was now just a pile of rocks. Some very charred rocks. Looking at the wreckage, you raise your brows. Its crumbling form is still under construction after all these years. The yellow caution tape is only a deterrence to you because you don’t want to end up on the gossip reels for a second time today. Looking around, you find yourself further confused. Lots of other parts of the pier had been redeveloped, but this piece of the puzzle still lay bare.
It didn’t, in your home, your world. It had been replaced with high-rise apartments, and since they were so close to the water, so pretty and new, you had no hope of affording them. It probably wouldn’t be very good for your mental health even if you could. Still, you’d taken many walks past the street. Enjoyed the little bit of dirty white concrete that had survived. You and your siblings had signed your names into it, and you’d stroked the sidewalk like the weirdo you were many times.
Like you did today. And today, for some reason, the rest of it was here. Untouched. A remnant of the disaster. As you run your thumb along the sharp edge of Julie’s J, you find yourself once again lost in your memories. They were like honey traps to you these days.
The mum-and-pops diner had been run by your uncle. It’d been in the family for three generations, and he was incorrigibly proud of it. You’d all had your birthday parties there, because it was free and you were poor. It wasn’t like your uncle would let you pay for the food anyway, it was just one of the few times Mum could stand the generosity. She didn’t like it when you had disappointing birthdays, and no matter how much you tried to fake your happiness, she could always see to your core. Eventually, you and your siblings all gave up on trying.
You were late. You were often late, but this time it was… it was the difference between life and death. If you’d been a few blocks further, a little bit earlier, you’d probably be dead too. Or at least have some serious hearing loss instead of just suffering mild tinnitus.
You had felt more than seen the destruction. The earth had rumbled, and a deafening roar had swept through the streets. You remember falling to your knees, the worry about being late morphing to worry for your best clothes to a true terror when you realised where the blast had come from.
When you realised your family was in the epicentre.
You sometimes wish you were on time that day. That you’d gotten to see them all, even if you went with them. It didn’t sound so bad, really. At least you wouldn’t be alone. Hmm, you should probably stop thinking like that. Or maybe go to a therapist about it.
Not that you could afford it. Oh, right. Rich now. That was really taking some getting used to.
You wonder if people who won the lottery felt the same way. Probably not, because the rest of the world reflected the changes the person felt. They’d have to go pick up the check, go to the bank, and if they let their family and friends know, deal with the consequences of that.
You’d just woken up rich. No time to adjust, your new life was here and it was demanding your attention very loudly. And soup-ly, unfortunately. After a few minutes of staring blankly at the rubble, you look towards your left, where you know the Memorial awaits you. It’s in the centre of the new shopping district, built on top of the bombed parts of Gotham. It sits right next to the water, the cold breeze a comfort that you’d turned to on more than one occasion.
You’d feel bad if you didn’t change your clothes. You told Grayson you would, and you already felt bad enough about... everything to do with him. You suppose he was your brother. Your ex-brother. Ex-step-brother. The ex-step-brother of a woman who you weren’t.
Really, he was just a stranger. It seemed he didn’t feel that way, though.
You start the walk towards the shopping district, and into the first clothes store you see. The prices on the tags would usually make you flinch, but well, it doesn’t matter anymore. Nothing seems to matter. Your survival is now guaranteed, might as well wear some clothes that feel nice on your skin.
You walk out of that store looking like you just robbed it. Even the clerk had given you a weird look but accepted the black card tucked in your phone without much complaint. It’s an improvement if a small one.
Once you’re done, like a moth to a flame, you drift towards the Memorial centre. You’re following all the steps you used to in the past, but somehow, it all feels a bit alien. The world looks a little different, a little uncomfortable. Your shoes are worn in, and yet they still feel too tight.
Uncanny valley. You feel unwelcomed here, unwanted. Like the very earth can tell that there’s something wrong in this scene, some intruder. You ignore the feeling as best you can.
The Memorial is just as unfamiliar as the diner was, maybe even more. You know that your mother was a Wayne before she died. You know that. But still seeing your family’s framed photos, right alongside Jason's is so shocking you nearly jump. It takes a moment of wide-eyed staring before you can manage to get past that. When you do, for some reason you still go back to your old habits. You walk by them, the bouquets and to where their names used to be in thin letters.
You count with your fingers, finding the fifty-second line.
A man’s name replaces the spot where your mother’s is. The little grooves the oil in your fingers had left behind were gone, and instead was sharp stone like when the monument was first erected. It cuts at your fingers. It no longer welcomes your touch.
James Whitaker. That’s the name of the man who took their spot.
You can already feel a rising obsession with the random dead man. If you were going to psycho-analyse yourself, you’d recognise that you didn’t feel that the images of the Waynes you’d created were no longer real, no longer safe to your escapist mindset. You’d realise, that this was all pretty unhealthy, and you really, really needed therapy.
Instead, you give the guy your condolences and start reading the other plinths. They seem largely the same. It’s not like you hadn’t read all of these towers of stone at one point or another, your eyes glazing over the many, many names. So much devastation, all in one moment.
And still, this was not even a tenth of all the lives the Joker had taken. You kinda wanna go take a kick at one of the Bat signals littered around the city. Maybe that’d make you less… broiling with incompetent rage.
Again, maybe you should just go to therapy. You should call Jeanine about that or something.
Eventually, you circle back to your family and Jason’s shrines. You know, back then you’d been jealous that Jason Todd had been so well mourned. You’d wished your family had gotten the same treatment.
Now, you… felt jealous again. Possessive, over their memory, their image. You didn’t really like that random strangers that never knew them… knew them. That Sam always got As in English and Art class but would sometimes skip math and would hide in the bathrooms to do so. That Chasey had struggled with going to school because of her anxiety but kept going because she had a friend going through the exact same thing. That Julie was the ace of her school’s soccer team, and that she’d almost gotten them to nationals even in the presence of all the super-rich schools in Gotham. That your Mum was a great cook but genuinely hated doing it, but for some reason, baking was her favourite thing even as she had never made a proper macaron.
They didn’t know them. They knew their faces and a facsimile of them, but they didn’t know them. It reminded you of the people at the orphanage. Nice, but not kind. They’d had their own lives, they didn’t want some bratty, demented teenager who was going down and planning on taking everyone with her.
You really couldn’t be happy, could you? Maybe you didn’t know what you wanted. What you want now. What you’d wanted for a while, actually.
Ugh. You close your eyes and let out a deep, soul-shaking sigh. It takes a moment for you to shore up the willpower to open them again. Come on, flower shop, finish your weird little ritual then you can go home and hide for the next millenia.
The walk there is the same as always, if a little more morose. It’s in a good spot, near the church just a block away and the memorial on its other side, as well as less sombre atmospheres down near the pier. Well, as little sombre as Gotham can manage.
You feel like you blink and you’re there. Too quickly, you find a rainbow of blooms in front of you, the scent of the blossoms washing over you. When you walk into the flower shop, the bell at the door rings the same as it always does. On autopilot, you walk over to the small, cheaper buds. Your hand clenches around the crinkly wrapping paper, a bundle of posies in your hand. You go to the counter with your prize in hand.
Larissa, the counter worker, smiles at you. Your breath hitches. It’s a working smile, not one of the real, toothy ones she used to give you.
“Oh wow, I thought all the posies had sold out. Lucky you!”
You think of something to say, but the moment passes and you don’t. She rings you up, tells you the price, and when you pay, asks sweetly if you want a receipt.
She doesn’t say your name. Doesn’t acknowledge how you come here every week and buy this same handful of flowers. She doesn’t ask about your job or the weather. She doesn’t cheerfully tell you about how her apprenticeship is going, or about the next sweet thing her partner has done. No, she just stares at you, growing more uncomfortable the longer it takes for you to answer.
She doesn’t even seem to recognise this other version of you. It feels like another string that tied you down to the earth has been snipped. You have an image in your head of a child losing a balloon, desperately grasping at the air. You’re going to float up into the atmosphere, and then you’re going to pop.
You can see the foil glinting in the sun’s light, so, so clearly.
You squeeze your eyes shut, “Yes, a receipt, please.”
Taking it blindly, you barely flutter your eyes open as you walk out of the shop. She didn’t know you, didn’t remember you. That doesn’t matter, you tell yourself. You hadn’t really known her. It doesn’t matter. There’s no real difference, it doesn’t matter.
It’s okay, it’s okay, it never really mattered. You keep telling yourself this as you walk back over to the memorial. As you lay your flowers down with the others, the little posies are dwarfed by the other donations. It didn’t matter. You didn’t know her. None of this matters. Their flowers don’t matter.
You don’t matter. You hit that errant thought with a mental fly swatter.
Exhausted, you sit down next to the monument. You used to be able to lay your head on the stone, able to feel your family in the warmth it had absorbed in the sun. Now you just sort of, awkwardly reached out to the small bit of uncovered plinth at the side. You have to stick your hand through a wreath to do so.
It’s not warm. You wonder if your family are sad. And then you wonder if you’re an idiot for attributing feelings to a literal rock.
After a while, you get up. Cross your arms. You stare at your family's portraits, eyes moving over their smiles. One by one. You recognise some of the photographs, those are your favourites. A smile cracks across your face when you see the picture of when Chasey lost her two front teeth. She still grins cheekily at the camera, uncaring for any changes to her appearance, as all kids shouldn’t.
Your shoulders fall just the slightest bit when you see the picture of Jason Todd. It’s one of his older pictures. Probably seventeen or something. He’d always been a lovely boy when he was younger. And he still was up till he died but you’d always thought you’d seen something start to change in him. That sparkle of innocence, dulled, just the slightest.
And then he’d died. And you’d wondered if maybe he’d felt it was coming.
You certainly hadn’t. It had been like a hurricane tearing through your life. You’d ended up on the other side completely abandoned, the only friend who’d bothered to keep seeing you being one who’d learnt to dodge train ticket costs like a damn ninja. And you’d had to decide whether you could keep doing this, whether you even wanted to.
You were an obsessive creature by nurture. It had been all you could do to hang onto the Waynes, pretend they would love and care for you even if they’d have never even noticed you in real life. You weren’t sure that was strength or simple human survival. Dying was scary. Of course, you were scared of dying.
Your whole family had died. So, you told yourself, that Jason Fucking Todd would be sad if you killed yourself, and somehow, you had made it all these years.
And now here you were, and the Waynes did notice you in real life. You were important to them. You didn’t want to be, but you were. And again, you have to ask yourself, what would Jason Todd ask of you? What would he want you to do now, in this impossible situation you’ve found yourself in?
You stare at the picture. Stare at the way the sun hits his dark hair and blue eyes. Stare very, very hard. Like he might crawl out and give you a detailed list of what to do. You’d really like a detailed list. Or any guidance at all. Maybe you could go hit up a seance or something.
Your head falls forward into your sun-warmed palms. This is so stupid. No answers are going to fall from the sky, you need to find them yourself. And you’re not going to find them here.
Someone walks up beside you to the old memorial, and you quickly tuck yourself back into an acceptable image. Fold in all the rough edges you can. A tall and well-built man, with a face mask, sunglasses and a trucker hat, he looks like he could be a celebrity or something. Someone important, much more than you.
And you weren’t, not technically, at least. The universe had done the equivalent of a shelving error, and now here you goddamn were.
He does an odd pose next to you, something military-esque, where he clasps his hands together and bows his head. With a quick flick of your eyes you confirm, yes, his feet are equal with his shoulders. It’s obvious that he’s paying his respects so you do your best not to judge him too hard.
And then he speaks to you.
“I’m sorry.”
You look up, startled and confused.
“For your loss,” the deep voice finishes, jerking his head toward the pictures in front of the two of you.
“Wha- oh uh, um,” you blink and then realise that this person has recognised you, which would make sense since you are literally in one of the photos in front of you, and manage to pull your fading conscious mind back together for a moment more.
“Thank you, uh-” you stare at him a moment longer, “You too?”
Almost worse than that time you told the barista who gave you your coffee you hoped she enjoyed hers too, but not quite. Well, you know, he’d probably lost someone here too. You don’t know why he’d be here otherwise unless he wanted an autograph or something. The thought almost makes you laugh.
He snorts at your words. You don’t know what to make of that.
He looks back down at the pictures and flowers. You think he does, at least, from the slight shifting of his head. He’s kind of mysterious. Pair that with the deep voice, the muscular and tall physique, and you’re an odd mix of attracted and socially anxious. Not that you’re not always socially anxious, but this guy feels… strong. Dumb again, you can see his biceps from here but…
You just can’t quite shake it off. Strong. Strong.
“They didn’t deserve it, none of them did,” he speaks again, and you wonder what the fuck he’s going on about at all.
You admit, you sound a little bitter when you mutter, “Well, that’s obvious.”
He lets out a bark of laughter, and you see his eyes flash to you from under his sunglasses. A shade of blue. There’s another odd pause, and then he turns to you. You don’t know why he’s looking at you. He crosses his arms, and seems to size you up.
“What are you doing here?” he asks you like he knows you.
Your brow furrows. Okay, kind of losing any hotness points here. Bothering someone who was grieving could’ve been seen as rude from the very start, but you’d just thought he was weird. Now, you thought he was weird and rude.
“…Paying my respects. Obviously,” you gesture downwards, “My mother, my siblings, and…”
Well, how would you describe the relationship between you and Jason Todd now? He was still just a stranger to you and-
“With who, that guy?”
Now, it isn’t often that you’re stunned into silence, but at the moment you can’t find it in you to do anything but stare and gape. Frankly, you’re astonished! You’ve never met anyone who spoke so rudely of the dead, and well, he couldn’t have picked a worse person to do it in front of.
“Excuse me?” your voice can’t seem to convey even half of your offence, even as you sound like you’re about ready to bite a second person for today. The man pauses like you’ve surprised him, which- what the fuck is going on? Why do you feel like an alien crash-landed on Earth these days?
“No, I just meant-” he huffs, shakes his head, and continues, his voice now offended too, “What the fuck am I saying? Yes, I did mean that. That little twerp was a naive idiot who was manipulated by the people he believed in most.”
You stare, absolutely speechless, as the stranger goes on a damn-fucking-near crazed rant about one of the people most important to you. Never met? Sure. Dead as hell? Absolutely. But still, he was one of your lifelines. Your candlelight in the dark, guiding your way even when you felt completely lost. And now he’s calling him a naive idiot? You can practically feel the steam coming out of your ears.
“He changed nothing, made no difference in the end-”
“Nothing?!” you practically shriek, finally able to find your voice just to use it to shout, “He changed… so much! He donated millions of dollars, did heaps of charity work, was practically a treasure to our city… He made multiple homeless shelters, an orphanage, helped rehabilitate criminals and countless other things.”
Your fists are clenched tight enough that they shake. You hide them behind your back, but you still feel like he can probably see them. Your emotions are simmering too close to the surface, bubbling over and onto the floor. About to burn his sneakers to ash.
“You seem like you care a lot,” he says, sounding reserved.
“Of course, I care.”
“…It’s just, you didn’t seem the type, on the TV,” he keeps talking, poking at you for some god-awful reason, and you bark out a harsh laugh.
“Maybe people need to stop making so many fucking assumptions, then? It certainly hasn’t gotten you anywhere,” you throw your hands up, damn sick of all the constant fucking surveillance you’re under. You can see why this version of you lost her mind. You’re near about to as well.
He stares at you for a moment longer, and you start feeling too uncomfortable. It’s a stupid and useless protectiveness that has you staying. Like he’ll somehow try and harm the shrine to your people. It’s happened before, Joker fanboys defacing it and such. This guy could be one of those bastards.
And yet… somehow you feel…
“I’ll keep that in mind,” he finally says.
“Good, you do that.”
“But in the end, nothing’s really changed. Joker’s still out and about, as you well know.”
You physically flinch like you’ve been slapped. For a good minute there, all you can do is stare at him in disbelief. You raise one shaking fist, and lift one trembling finger, pointing. The man looks in the direction you’ve pointed, and when he doesn’t see anything, turns back to you. His sunglasses reflect the grey afternoon sun.
“Go,” you order, voice shaking just like the rest of you.
He just keeps staring at you. You wish he’d take off those dumb fucking glasses, so you could see this asshole’s face. Etch it into your mind. He doesn’t move, doesn’t say anything, doesn’t take any action. He simply waits for you to… Well, you don’t know what you’ll do. You haven’t known what you’d do since you left Dick behind two hours ago.
“You need to go,” you say again, and again, he doesn’t fucking move, “You… there’s… you have no right.”
You can hear the buzz of the city around you, the wind rushing by. His clothes rustle in the wind. Your voice sounds too loud in your ears, but he won’t just… he won’t leave. You don’t want this stranger here, watching you. Judging you. It’s all…
“Jason didn’t do anything wrong,” you say, and you think to yourself, desperately, ‘I didn’t do anything wrong.’
There’s a slight shift in the stranger’s posture. His shoulders tensed.
You think you’ve offended him.
“The Joker… That’s nobody's fault but the government for not just sucking it up and giving him the death penalty, or Batman’s for not doing it himself a long time ago. They’re all fucking useless, but they’re the ones who are supposed to be dealing with this!” you continue, your words growing more heated. It’s only the already looming threat of an assault case that keeps you from shoving the guy. Not like you’d be able to move him an inch, of course, he was huge.
You’re sure it would feel good, though.
“It was never some random teenager's responsibility, and it wasn't mine either,” you say, but find yourself pausing for a moment when you hear the end of your sentence. It doesn’t matter. It’s not like it wasn’t obvious anyway.
You’d tied yourself and Jason up together in your head. To you, you were both two sides of the same coin. One foot in the grave. You’ve got one foot in the grave…
“Jason Todd was a good person, and he made the world a better place.”
You look down at the portrait of the boy, his toothy smile twisting at your heart. None of this was fair. None of this had ever been fair. Why was this guy acting like anybody here had ever been able to do anything about it? Like Jason should’ve been smarter, and avoided a fucking bomb blast?
It was stupid. This was stupid, and you were over it. You were tired.
“And I miss him.”
It’s quiet after you say that.
“I don’t know how you can think it’s fair to act like his death was pointless when… of course it was, all of this was pointless,” you say, throwing your hands wide and gesturing to the entire memorial. “This was a tragedy, but Jason was a victim. And I’m sick of people like you who think they can decide whether someone else’s life was lived right. It’s not your damn right.”
“Now… fuck off!” you announce, and to your shock, he does. He fucks right off. The man gives you one last lingering look, and then turns and leaves without another word. Not like you needed them.
You huff out a shocked breath, and then turn back to the memorial.
The framed faces of your loved ones stare back at you, and for all you know it’s stupid, you can’t help but feel embarrassed for the display. You know your mother would’ve scolded you for your language, at least.
“Sorry,” you say, and you’re unfortunately reminded of that irritating man again. Likely that won’t be the first time he pops up again in your head. He seemed well, insane. Which wasn’t that odd in Gotham but… god, you just couldn’t seem to let it go.
It pissed you off to high heaven. His rudeness was something you’d usually be able to shrug off, especially from some random stranger, but, but, but-! Argh, damn it all. And it wasn’t like that was the first time you had had that sort of conversation, but it was certainly the first time someone had been so bold as to bring it up in front of your dead mother’s smiling face.
Earlier today had snuffed out the fire in you, but that encounter had been the spark to reignite it. More than that, actually. It had made you so damn pissed, made your blood boil in a way you just couldn’t ignore, to the point that you wanted to prove him wrong.
Jason Todd had mattered and had made a difference and change in Gotham. He had made a change in you. You put your hands on your hips, stare down at the flowers, and make a decision.
You’re going to fix your goddamn life. For Jason Fucking Todd.
Your body feels like shit, your brain feels like it’s stuffed with cotton wool, and yet this is the greatest opportunity you’ve ever been given. You have a chance to save yourself, and save your friends, and fix all the tiny little problems in Gotham that you’ve suffered through since childhood. Surely just throwing enough money at all your problems would fix some of them.
You were rich. If you couldn’t fix your life with millions of dollars available, then you had no chance.
And yeah, you don’t know what you’re doing. You know you can’t really change what happened. Back then or even just a few days ago. But you hate that. You hate it so much. You hate how weak you are in the face of loss. How both then and now, there’s nothing you can really do. And maybe if just out of spite, towards that asshat, Batman, Joker and everyone else, you want to make a change.
You want to be able to do something about it. You want it, so fucking bad.
First order of business?
…You want more flowers.

Family time with baby Yuji ✨✨
Family time with Baby Yuji 🥹 I didnt know how to to go about it so I just rambled on 🤍 tysm for the ask
When Yuji was a baby Sukuna loved cradling him in his massive arms despite denying it with a cough. When Yuji got older 4-8 he loves riding around on his dad’s shoulders, bragging on how strong his dad was and sticking his tongue out at kids who wanted to laugh. Of course there are plenty of times when as a family you’d go on walks and young Yuji would take falls from trying to grab a tree branch or his did stretching and shaking him off because he forgot Yuji was on his shoulders 🥹 Yuji would just sit up smiling rubbing the back of his head when you’d both turn back to make sure he was okay. Swatting Sukuna and telling him to be careful while he rolled his eyes setting Yuji back on shoulders, “I told ya woman he doesn’t weigh anything maybe if you fed him more he wouldn’t be this way!” Of course Sukuna being the good husband he is, he sighed and turned to look at his wife. Before he could saying anything he noticed a cut on his son’s knee and frowned. So he brought up a hand and used his reverse cursed technique to heal him, “Brat why didn’t you tell me you were hurt?”
Or the time Yuji was crying because both of you left him with a baby sitter, not Uraume, not your lady in waiting. BUT A RANDOM LADY HE DIDNT KNOW he laid in his bed sniffling and crying. He refused to eat or leave his room all day. If you didn’t love him anymore you just had to tell him 😭 Both you and Sukuna hadn’t made it back till after sun set, to see the panicked baby sitter who was frantically explain how Yuji was reacting. So there you went sitting on the edge of his bed heart aching at his little whimpers and cries “Yuji, baby, please” laying your han son his back he squirmed away from you under the blanket. Sighing you watched Sukuna walk in sitting on his other wide, “Brat.” Was all he said as the mattress shifted under his weight, he laid a heavy hand on Yuji’s back. Yuji squirmed away bumping into you before moving back and pulling the blanket over his head to cover his tear stained puffy red face.
“Yuji.” Was all Sukuna had to say in a strict voice before he looking at his dad like he really did betray him. “You don’t love me anymore.” You looked away not wanting to laugh at your son especially when your husband was being firm with him. “I told you this morning your mother was leaving, I asked if you wanted to go with me and Uraume or stay home.” Yuji puffed his cheeks out “i said stay home because i thought you were gonna stay with me..” You stayed silent as the two had a stare off before Yuji sighed, he looked at you “you don’t love me either! You just left me!” You gasped “Yuji! I came to see you this morning before leaving and you said you wanted to sleep so you were gonna wait for daddy.” You fixed your stare on him and he huffed pulling the blanket over his head before the sniffles started up. Once again Sukuna said his name in a warning tone, before he sat up pushing the blanket off of him, “you left me alone all day and now you don’t want too.” “Stop acting like brat.” Was all Sukuna said before he hauled Yuji up and into his said while laying down in Yuji’s bed. The frame creaking obviously not made to hold Sukuna’s real weight, Yuji was still sniffling not hugging his dad back. Seeing Sukuna motion you over you got into Yuji’s bed, Sukuna turned to face you. Both you squishing Yuji in a hug while he sniffled and let the tears fall. “Yuji…” Sukuna’s voice was soft, you looked down at your son who chose bury his face in his dad’s chest, “I would never abandon you, you ARE my son i could never leave you behind or ..” he hesitated, “or stop… loving you. As long as you’re here, and I have life I will always come back for you and your mother.” Yuji rubbed his face back and forth on his dad’s chest mumbling an “‘m sorry.” Yuji tried to hold onto the both of you, and there you all slept, Sukuna hugging you and Yuji against his chest. That even when the bed frame cracked half way through the night no one moved a muscle.
There’s also that time when you decided to take Sukuna into town 😭 Yuji was holding your hand and his daddy’s hand. Both of your hold tight in his hands because he liked to run, jump and pull his legs up to swing by yours and Sukuna’s hands. Sure he was heavier at 6 but how could either of you say no to his little laughs and big smile? Even walking through the city when he let go your hand he persisted on walking funny as long as he could hold his daddy’s hand. Of course Sukuna got tired of having to lean down and hold Yuji’s hand so he shifted back to his “human” form. To which Yuji went back to grabbing your hand and his dad’s hand. Happily running between both of you to swing himself, the townspeople were almost in awe that Sukuna could show emotion other than displeasure, annoyance and bod thirst as he usually did when they would stand before him. They stood in disbelief that you really had managed to birth his son and that you and that son had managed to tame him enough that he didn’t just kill the man that accidentally knocked over a flower stand and splashed him with old plant water. Everyone watched as Sukuna’s free hand came up ready to slice the Man until they saw how his son pulled on his hand with a pout and pleading eyes. Sukuna sighing and pulling his robes off his shoulders to hang on his wait gave the vendor a fixed stare “Fools should know their place, you should take your place quickly.” Waving his hand he dismissed the vendor and you squeezed Yuji’s hand letting go. He smiled bright before hugging his dad’s arm, Sukuna tsk’ed but pulled Yuji into his side, “don’t think this changes anything brat.”
Then there was Sukuna falling sick 🫠 A real miracle right there on it’s own. Yuji refused to leave his side no matter how many times you dragged him with you. Sukuna would close his eye to rest when you’d close the door leaving with Yuji. Just to hear the door open, a sliver of light filling the room before the door closed and hearing the little patter of Yuji’s feet stopping by his bed side. He tried to force back his smile when Yuji pushed a chair to the bed and tried to replace the wet rag you had left on his forehead, anymore and he would’ve drowned with all the water Yuji poured on him. In the end Yuji crawled over him crawling under the blanket to hug his dad. He didn’t say anything just laid there like good moral support. Sukuna staring down at his son with soaking wet hair and a wet pillow sighed and wrapped an arm around his son pulling him closer, “You shouldn’t be here Yuji.” Yuji looked up at him with big eyes, “Your mom will wring you out if she finds you here.” “Then hide me!” Was all Yuji said pulling the blanket up over his head, “‘m not leaving.” Sukuna gave him a few heavy pats before leaning back into the wet pillow and throwing the sopping rag into the bowl of water, “Alright I warned ya.”
You could feel your eye twitch when you found them both passed out. Sukuna snoring and Yuji half on his chest going up and down with Sukuna’s breathing. “If he tried to hide it was terrible.” Was all you said getting closer, on the night stand half hanging onto the bowl was the soaking rag, wringing it out you placed it back on Sukuna’s forehead. Feeling Yuji’s forehead he was burning up. Leaning over your husband you fixed Yuji so he was laying down, he mumbled something in his sleep reaching out for your hand. Of course Sukuna hit you with a light smack on your rear and he chuckled, “don’t worry about him I’ll fix him up.” You watched as Sukuna started to sit up bringing you up with him, your son mumbling in his sleep trying to hug his daddy. You watched as he’s used his reverse cursed technique healing Yuji like it was nothing. “Ryomen.. if you can..” you stopped when Yuji barely opened his eyes blinking sleepily and reaching for you, “Don’t ask to many questions sweetheart, our son wants you here with us, “get in.” So you didn’t protest taking off your outter robe and getting into bed with your boys mumbling “so you were just looking for some attention hm?” Sukuna side eyed you with a smile before pulling you over to kiss the side of your temple, “Sure if that makes you feel better.”
Then there was Yuji’s birthday 🥹 all he wanted was to go out and play in the snow. “Mommy! Da-daddy?” He looked around your room, no one, he ran to the throne room, no one. Tea room? No, daddy’s bathing room? No. … separated rooms? No.. his room?! No ;-; he was on the verge of crying he couldn’t find Uraume either, so he walked to the kitchen reasoning he could eat something and keep looking later. That’s where he found you arguing with his dad and Uraume looking panicked. “ITS YUJI’S BIRTHDAY HE SHOULD EAT WHAT HE LIKES.” You argued back, “YUJI needs more meat on his bones I say we let Uraume work the kitchen as usual,” Sukuna slammed his fist on the table and you tilted your head giving him a look, “Lady y-NO” you held a hand up to Uraume smiling at him, “we’re going to fix this NOW.” You looked back at your husband, “you wanna eat what you wanna eat? Fine- but if that’s the case I’m taking Yuji to eat at his favorite noodle shop with or without you.” Slamming your own hand on the table it shook everything on the table. You and Sukuna dead set on one another, Uraume became nervous. Sukuna caught a quick glimpse of pink out the corner of his eye. Before he made a displeased face, “Fine, make what she tells you Uraume.” You smiled nodding, “Thank you.” You both watched as Sukuna left grumbling about it being his house why’s his wife bossing him around, Yuji still stood in the kitchen door smiling when his dad winked at him ruffling his hair as he passed by. You turned to Uraume “Make Sukuna a special plate, I swear when he’s hungry at night that thing has mind of its own and would probably take a bite out of Yuji.”Referring to his stomachs mouth, Uraume nodded with a smile “Yes Lady Y/n.”
You turned away from him grabbing a basket to leave when you see Yuji, “Hey sweetie,” you reached your hand out for him and he took it, “Ready to go outside?” He shook his head, “can’t find my coat,” you nodded “let’s go find it then.” Making your way to Yuji’s room you found Sukuna waiting and holding Yuji’s winter coat. “Took you long enough woman.” Yuji let go of your hand rushing to his dad who helped him with his coat, “come with us daddy!” You smiled watching Yuji pull his dads hand and arm. If there was one thing you didn’t understand it was Yuji’s obsession with the snow. Even when his fingers would turn read, and his nose and cheeks were nipped with red, he’d persist he could stay out another hour to play. Maybe it was because while you carried him in your womb, and as a baby you’d sit outside keeping him swaddled and warm in the cool. Remembering your own grandmother did the same, watching your cousins sleep calm and peacefully for so long. Yuji did the same, maybe that’s why he was so drawn to the snow. “Mommy! Cmon!” He waved his hand at you, he was building a snowman with his dad. Walking over you set down the basket on bench you usually sat on in the spring with Yuji, in the afternoon he’d lay his head on your lap yawning listening to birds chirping away while the cherry blossoms gave their last blooms. Falling asleep while you sat there rubbing his back and brushing your hand through his hair.
Your thoughts were interrupted by the bump you felt on your back. Turning around you saw Yuji getting a face full of snow “That’s my wife brat.” Yuji who was now laying in the snow sat up with snow ball “that’s my face!” Before smacking his dad with a snow ball. You couldn’t fight the smile watching them fight, laughing too hard when Sukuna was using one pair of arms to mass produce snow balls and the other to throw them. Yuji finally cried and ran over to hide behind you, “HELP MEEEE” at that point you were laughing hard and felt bad for not being to console your son, “i-I’m sorry-“ another wave of laughs, “Baby” he pouted crossing his arms while you took a deep breath, “You should’ve seen it, sweetie I’m sorry.” Ruffling his hair he still pouted looking at his dad who stood there proud, bare chest puffed out snow balls still in hand. “M cold.” You cleared the snow off the bench, “here I packed these for when you did get cold.” Turning to Sukuna he walked over snowball in hands as he dropped one on Yuji’s head, Yuji just shook his head clean sending snow everywhere. “Here,” you pulled out a smaller basket full of steamed milk buns for Yuji. Pulling out a second basket you offered them to Sukuna, “These were specifically made for you.” He grabbing one eating it in one bite, “it’s good, wouldn’t expect less from Uraume.” You grinned, “I made those.” Sukuna pulled you into his side by the waist, kissing your temple, “In that case they could be better,” he grinned down at you his eyes crinkling when you swatted his chest. Catching your hand against his chest he leaned down pressing his lips against the back of your hand, “They’re perfect don’t worry.” Smiling you pulled your hand free brushing his tussled slicked hair back as he hummed.
“ew,” Yuji’s voice broke the silence you your husband shared before Sukuna snatched his milk bun away, “whaddya mean ew?” He took a bite of the milk bun. “ew you and mommy!” He snatched another milk bun eating it and turning away when his dad tried to reach for it again. “Sit,” Yuji patted the spot next to him, Sukuna sat down spreading his legs out and pulling you to sit between himself and Yuji. Soon you all finished snacking, before Yuji begged to make a snow family. There you were, finding’s rocks and branches. Sukuna stacking the snow balls while Yuji tried to roll them. Sukuna’s Smow man was massive with Four stick arms and four rock eyes. Your snow lady had two arms and two eyes just shorter than Sukuna’s, and Yuji’s 🥹 Yuji’s snow man was built to his height which was still notably smaller than yours and Sukuna’s but the way he looked so proud rolling it to stand between the two bigger ones, he put a big smile on it, angling the arms up before he took an arm off of the others ones re stabbing them in from below, “Now they can hold hands.” You looked your husband who made a choking sounds before clearing his throat looking away using a hand to cover the liver half of his face. You rubbed your hand on his bare back and he looked at you. The soft smile you gave him was reassuring when he walked to stand behind your son. You watched as he hesitated before placing a hand on Yuji’s head pulling him into his side and rubbing his head, Yuji stayed leaning against his dad, before he looked back, waving his hand for you to get closer. Yuji looked up at his dad who picked him up, “alright, come here brat.” Standing beside Ryomen he wrapped his arms around your shoulders and waist, Yuji held on his other side. You turned hugging his waist. Staying like this until the snow started to fall and Yuji wiggled out of his dads grip.
Sitting on the same bench you stayed close to Sukuna, he hadn’t let you go after feeling how cold your hands were. “Ryomen…” his eyes were trained on his son when you looked up at him. He grunted in response, before clearing his throat. “y/n…” the silence hanging in the air. “I love you.” He never looked away from Yuji, before he turned to look down at you, bringing a free hand to your chin he angled your face up leaning in close, “Is that what you want me to say?” A grin broke out on his face when you blinked, he closed the gap and kissed you. Pulling away he angled your chin up and he kissed your neck nipping the skin, “I love you y/n.” It didn’t take long for Yuji to wear himself out when he came to crawl into your lap leaning back against your chest watching the snow fall. Soon he fell asleep across your lap, your head resting on Ryomen who laid his head over yours. His hand running up and down your back in a comforting manner, Yuji’s soft breaths. The falling snow and setting sun. “Happy Birthday Yuji.” You mumbled brushing his hair out his face, Sukuna smiled down at his sleeping son, “Happy Birthday brat.”

I'm Sorry
Billie Eilish x female reader !
A/n: saw this video on tiktok of this girl accidentally breaking a gift her bf got her and her being so apologetic, and I can just imagine how bill would be with you:(
Summary: Billie reassures you when you accidentally break her gift.
Warnings: none just fluff ! Kinda angst tho ??
Masterlist
It was time again. Your birthday, just another year of getting older. You were currently laying in bed, half asleep as the sun was shining through the curtains. You then feel hands on your shoulders. "Babyy, its your birthday!" Billie sings as she says that. You cover your face. "Does it have to be." She plops down on the bed. "Oh come on, it's not every day you're 21!" You open an eye to see she had a few gifts. Your other eye opens as you look at her. "Bubba, I thought we agreed on two at most." She puts her finger up to your lips. "I couldn't help myself."
You sigh with a bright smile, sitting up to prepare for her little gifts. She hands you the first one, some clothes you had been wanting. Next up, some skin care. She was always so thoughtful of the things you needed. And lastly, maybe your favorite. You open up the wrapping revealing a glass red rose. You marvel at it. "I know how much you love roses and how upset you get when they start to die, but this way you can have it all the time." She smiles at you. Your eyes meet hers as you almost have tears in them. You leap over to hug her tightly.
"Thank you baby! I love it so so much." She smiles. "Knew you would." Her hands grab your face, thumb swiping over your cheek. "Happy birthday angel." She leans in to kiss you softly, so glad you like the gifts. "Some of them came from your mother. I put them in a vase already for you." You then kiss her cheek, placing the glass rose down on the bedside table. "Thank you babe, I'll go smell them soon."
A few days pass and you honestly had the best birthday ever, Billie was spoiling you like crazy. Took you out for a nice meal too. Today you were working from home, doing some needed chores along the way. Bill was at Finneases working on some stuff in his studio. You did take a small break though. Getting into bed and scrolling for a glass case to put around your new gift. Just to make sure it's safe. You go to grab your water, but as you do. Eyes glued to your screen. You hear a shatter. Uh oh. Your head turns slowly.
Panic rising within you. "Fuck. No no no." You say frantically trying not to freak out. You get on the floor picking up the pieces. Shit. It was really broken. You cry. Cry because you broke the sweetest gift, given by the sweetest person and you broke it. You curse at yourself. You feel so stupid. You're an idiot your brain tells you.
How.
Could.
You.
You grab the pieces, but as you do you accidentally cut your finger. "Shit!" You winced. How could this get any worse. You pick up any remaining shards. Standing up and contemplating. She was gunna hate you. You thought. You don't blame her, you had only just got it. Your hands go to your hair, all these bad thoughts rushing through. You were going to have a shower after you got the case. But now you don't even need the case because you stupidly broke the rose. So. Stupid. Your tears still streaming down your face, you felt so awful. The image of Billie being so hurt right after she was so excited giving it to you.
You get into the shower, sliding down the wall. All you could think about was how she was going to react when she comes home. The hot water ran over your crying form. You hadn't even heard the front door open and Billie calling out like she always does. Until you hear faint footsteps and the bathroom door open. "Baby?" Had she seen it yet...
"Y-yeah.." You reply, she opens up the curtain to see you in the position you were in. Confused as anything. "What's going on love?" She always knew when something was bothering you. "I'm so sorry." You pathetically cry out. "Baby, talk to me." She says stopping the water from running. You just shake your head, lip quivering. "Sweetheart, please." You take a moment. "Don't hate me." You weakly say. "How could I ever?" Her bewilderment made your heart ache more for what you are about to tell her.
"Go look on my bedside floor." Your voice was hushed. So incredibly worried as she goes to do so. Her eyes land on the last little bits of glass, looking at the shattered mess on your table. Her heart breaks, but not because you broke it and most definitely by accident. It was because you were so upset, she hated seeing you upset. She comes back in the room to you still in tears. "Bub, hey. It's ok." - "it's not. Im so sorry I'm so-" She stops your apologies. "Baby. We can fix it. It's fixable. And if not I'll just buy you another. I swear to you. It's all ok."
Her voice was tender. So soft and reassuring. Your crying settles just a bit. "Are you sure?" She nods. "So incredibly sure. I'm not mad my girl, never ever would be." Her hand extends out for yours. You take it and get out of the shower. "Are you hurt?" You pout at how sweet she was, you loved this woman to absolute death. "What?" She chuckles. You just shake your head. "Youre just so kind, I love you." She brings you in for a hug, you wrap your arms tightly around her. She couldn't give a single fuck that your body was dripping wet.
It lasted for a long time, before she pulls back and looks at you. "I did just a tiny bit but I'm ok." You state. "Where abouts?" You show her the red mark on your thumb, she grabs it. Bringing it to her lips as kissing it gently. "Like I said before if we can't fix it I'll buy a new one, this time with a case."
"Great idea."

Comparisons Pt.2
Jason Todd x Jealous!Insecure!Fem!Reader || Angst/Fluff || Word Count: 2,730
Part 1
Warnings: insecurities (reader). Bad self esteem (reader). Criticizing oneself in the mirror (reader). Black eye (jason)
Have at ‘er guys.
The first thing you did once you got back into your apartment was throw your bag on the floor. The next thing you did was slump back against the door and slowly slid your way down until you were sitting on the ground, knees to your chest, head tucked into your folded arms.
Your eyes had been burning the entire walk back. Your throat was tight and especially your lungs from how fast you had power-walked.
Now that you were out of the public eye, you let the tears finally fall after trying so hard to hold them back.
Thank the crime for Gotham’s low rent. You didn’t think you’d be able to make it to your bedroom to hide your oncoming sobs if you had been living with roommates.
You were exhausted. You felt entirely stupid, too. As if you weren’t enough for Jason. Artemis had everything. Everything you didn’t and more.
You were beginning to think he had settled for you.
You knew he could pull attractive women. Could pull damn gorgeous women. He was entirely handsome himself, even though he never saw it.
Nearly every time you two were out he would have people coming up to him. Flirting with him. Asking for his number. Even when you were right there, his arm around your shoulders or your waist. Or if he was alone because you had gone to the bathroom. That was when they came out of the woodworks the most. It’s like even they could tell you were subpar for him.
The thing is: Jason would never even look at them. No matter how long they stood there. Usually, when he had ignored them for long enough and was getting annoyed, he would pull you into a deep kiss. He wouldn’t stop until he was sure they had left.
You couldn’t even explain why you felt like this. Jason had done nothing to prove that he didn’t love you.
But if Artemis, someone Jason had very possibly loved before you, was still in his life… what chance did you have at being allowed to stay?
Another sob left your throat. You were never in Jason’s league. Why ever pretend? Especially for this long?
You had overstayed your welcome.
Your phone buzzed in your bag. A call coming through. You sniffled, as you pulled it out of your tote.
Jason’s profile was displayed across the screen. A picture you had taken of him when you had dragged him out to the park a few months ago. You were both smiling at the camera as you took a picture. You had thought he looked so handsome in it. A soft smile, kind eyes looking a little off from the camera, the sun basking him in a sweet early spring glow. You had never liked the way you looked in that photo. When you made it his contact, you had cropped yourself out.
You frowned as your phone kept ringing. You didn’t want to deal with him right now. You set the phone on the ground in front of you, face up, letting it go to voicemail.
Your phone went black again. You started feeling a little guilty. Then, seconds later, it rang again.
You didn’t pick up. Even despite the guilt that began to chew at your stomach lining.
That call only rang four times before ending again.
A minute. Then a text message.
Jason: Just tell me whether or not you made it home, baby. Please?
You stared at it for a moment.
Another text.
Jason: I’m coming by soon either way. We’re talking about this.
You frown. He sounded mad.
Your head pounded lightly. A headache from how hard you’d been crying.
Maybe he was coming here to break up with you.
You’d obviously been delusional the past few weeks. Jason was using a case as an excuse to distant himself from you. To get familiar with Artemis again.
That had to be it.
Another text.
Jason: I know you’re seeing these, love.
Screw him. Screw him and his perfect grammar. And his stupid pet names.
You picked up your phone, opening the messages. You send back a simple “Home.” Before closing your phone again, placing it on the ground.
Jason: Thank you. See you soon.
Tears burned at your eyes again, but you swallowed them back.
You pushed yourself off the floor. No point in letting him see you, huddled in a heap of despair, still in your food splattered work clothes. Making your way to your bedroom, you began to change out of your work clothes. You automatically reached for the grey t shirt hanging off the post at the end of the bed, but hesitated. You stared at it. The far too big for you, men’s t shirt that was worn around the collar and smelled so much like Jason.
Your hand hovered over it before you stepped away.
He’d probably be wanting it back after this.
You stepped towards your dresser, catching a glimpse of yourself in the mirror.
You hate it.
You can’t even see yourself as yourself anymore.
You stand there, picking yourself apart bit by bit. Rifling. Dissecting. Looking to find something good, something likeable, until you’ve tossed every part into the “discard” bin of your mind.
You can’t even do anything about it. All your tears are gone. You simply hang your head as you step into your sweatpants and slip on your t shirt.
You crawl onto your bed, not bothering to climb under the covers. Not bothering to shower.
The sun was still shining in, reminding you of how you were wasting such a beautiful day.
Your mind was working against you. Coming up with reasons for why Jason would be with you. Why he would have done everything that he had ever done with you if he didn’t love you.
The most prominent reason was that he was just taking pity on you. He had the time on his hands to do a favour for the lonely, ugly girl because he had broken up with his gorgeous amazonian warrior girlfriend. He couldn’t be giving out favours anymore now that he had her back.
You laid there on your side, arms hugging yourself. You realized you weren’t out of tears. They continued slip out of your eyes and pool to the pillow below you. The occasional sob leaving you when your mind concocted something else outrageous.
You don’t know how long you laid there for.
In the silence of your apartment, you could hear the lock of your front door click before the door swung open.
You tensed, arms hugging yourself as you laid on your side, back to the door.
You heard Jason slip off his boots, the steel toes he always wore clattering against the floor, signalling his arrival.
Padded footsteps followed, moving down the short hallway. Then the creak of your bedroom door behind you that had already been ajar.
Jason’s voice was soft as he called your name, “You’re not asleep, are ya?”
You simply glanced back at him over your shoulder, twisting. He took up the whole frame. He was dressed the same as earlier. Dark blue jeans, dark grey shirt with a faded brewery logo on it, and his leather jacket that he hadn’t bothered to take off at the door. His sunglasses were gone, showing off the fresh black eye that you hadn’t seen. He held a bouquet of wildflowers in one hand.
Who brings flowers to someone when they’re about to leave them?
You laid your head back down without another word.
More footsteps. The bed dipped behind you, Jason’s weight settling on the mattress, sitting in the crook where your knees bent.
A beat passed before he sighed, “What’s going on in that pretty head of yours, doll?”
His hand reaches down to brush away the hair that was covering your face. The second his fingers brush over your cheek, you flinched back.
Jason draws his hand back, “Talk to me. I know how your mind gets, baby. What happened today?”
You stared straight ahead of you, towards the window Jason would often use to enter your apartment in the middle of night, the sunlight shining through. “Are you going to break up with me?”
Jason’s answer was quick. Honest. “No. Never.”
You should’ve felt more relaxed, but you didn’t. You just felt more stupid, “Did you love her?”
Jason paused, “Artemis?”
You nod.
Jason shifted on the bed, bringing more of his weight onto it before answering, “I thought I did. When I was with her. But… no.” Another pause. “You taught me what love was.”
Stupid, stupid, stupid. You knew Jason loved you.
You felt horrible. began to cry again, your voice cracking.
You just… you just needed to make sure, “Are you only with me because— because you pity me?”
“What?” Jason’s hands were suddenly on your shoulders, turning you onto your back. His fingers brushed your hair back and cupped your face. “Of course not!” You met his gaze for a moment through a haze of unshed tears. You’d never seen him more worried. More concerned. More… heartbroken at your words.
His eyes drift to the wet patches on your pillow, then back to your face. He takes in your red eyes and red nose. “Baby… have you been crying over this? Thinking I was going to leave you?”
You look away from him without answering. A silent “yes”.
Jason sighs lightly, “Because of Artemis?” His thumbs begin to stroke your cheeks, “She was just giving me some papers for a shipment. She owed me a favour from a long time ago.”
“How long were you with her?”
“Eight months,” he said, though there was a flit of a questioning tone at the end of it. He corrected himself, “Nine.”
“Why have you never talked about her?” You see him frown, his eyes shutting for a moment. You feel your face burn from embarrassment at all your questions.
Jason takes a breath, “That relationship… wasn’t a good one. It was my second real one, ever.” He shrugs, “It was built off of shared trauma, I guess. Once the Outlaws disbanded we didn’t really have much of a reason to stick around one another.” He pauses. “Now that I think about it, I don’t think I’d even consider it a real relationship. More of a fling.”
There’s a beat. You still don’t look at him.
“You know I love you,” he says. You bite deep into the inside of your cheek. “You know I love you… right?” His words sound so distraught at the idea of him making you feel unloved.
A small breath left your lungs. “I know.” Tears spill over as you talk, your arms still wrapped around yourself, hands squeezing the flesh of your biceps, “But that could’ve been an easy hand over. Five minutes.” You tried taking a deep breath, “Why… why make time to go and have coffee with your ex when you can’t even make time for me?”
Jason cursed quietly under his breath. Your face crumpled, but you tried for keep it together. “She wanted to.” Jason said. “Trust me. I didn’t. But I need that information.” He shuffled more onto the bed, hovering over you. “You have no idea how happy I was when I saw you walking past. You were like some angel coming from heaven. I’m serious.”
The moment replayed in your mind. Your bottom lip wobbled uncontrollably as you remembered his consistent frown every time he had looked at you.
“Then why—“ your voice hitched with a small sob. “You only smiled at her. You just started nitpicking me the second she left. Started when— when she was still there.”
Jason sighed again, his eyes shutting, “I know. I was acting like an asshole. I know. I’m sorry.” He leaned his face closer to yours, thumbs swipes away your tears. “I just get so worried about you sometimes.” He leaned down, pressing his forehead to yours.
You sniffle again, “I’m sorry.”
“No,” Jason mumbled against your forehead before leaning back. “I’m sorry, baby. I was already ticked off that I was wasting time with her.”
You squirmed lightly, still hugging yourself, “I’m still sorry. I know you love me. I do trust you. I just—“
Jason shook his head, “No. Don’t be sorry. I shouldn’t have had coffee with her. I should’ve been picking you up from work.” He moved his hands to gentle grasp onto your hands, “Come on. Sit up for me, yeah?”
You followed his instructions, sitting up, crossing your legs in front of you. Jason grabbed a tissue from your bedside table, handing it to you to blow your nose. You felt like asking whether the case he was working was real or not. You decided against it, realizing his black eye should be proof enough.
Jason brushed your hair back as you blew your nose, clearing your face. “Why did you think I’m with you because I pity you, love?”
You look away, shameful, “Because… because you’re the first guy to ever ask me out.” You shrug lightly, “And… and no one else was wanting to. And I just…” You sniffle again. Jason takes your old tissue and hands you a new one, his other hand on your knee, his thumb stroking the side of it gently. “I saw how pretty she is and—”
“Not as pretty as you,” he gave you a soft smile, lifting your chin up. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to cut you off.”
You gave no reaction.
Jason paused, “…do you not think you’re pretty?”
You try and turn your face away again, shrugging, “I’m just so far out of your league. She’s not.”
“Damn right you’re out of my league,” Jason laughed softly, grasping onto your shoulders as they fell in defeat.
Finally. You thought. He realizes. This is it. This is—
He took one hand and tilted your chin until you were looking at him again. “Love, you’re leagues above me. You hear me? I’m serious. I’m so lucky to have someone as sweet and caring as you.”
You begin to shake your head. Jason firmly yet painlessly pinches your chin between his thumb and forefinger, stopping you. He begins to nod your head. Up and down. Forcing you to agree with him.
He presses his thumb into your bottom lip. He pulls it down and back up over and over again, mimicking speech as if you were some puppet. He pitched up his voice and octave, “Yes, Jason! I’m the most gorgeous girl you’ve ever seen!”
You can’t help it. A smile tugs at your lips. You pull his hand away and hold it with both of your own as you place a kiss to it.
Jason grins, tilting his face down to yours, “There she is. There’s my girl.”
You shake your head at him, “I’m sorry for thinking you were going to leave me for her…”
Jason smiles softly, “No more apologies. I know how your mind is.” He tilts his chin up and pressed another kiss to your forehead. “Evil mind.” He mutters against it, making you giggle.
You hum lightly, leaning into his touch. “What happened to your eye?”
Jason scoffed lightly, “Some thug last night. My helmet was already broken. He got a good right hook in.”
You smile up at him. You sit up straighter, pressing a feather light kiss to the edge of the bruising.
Jason hums in satisfaction, “Thank you, baby.” He smiles again, looking back at you. “What do you want to do now? You’ve got me until nine.”
You perks up, “Nine? But it's already four! Don't you have to read those papers? Don’t you have to—“
Jason smiled and shook his head, cutting you off, "Already did. I just have to intercept that shipment tonight and then you'll have me all day tomorrow, too. I’ve got nothing else but time to spend with my girl.”
Your smile grows a little wider, "Really?"
Jason nods, "I promise."
You play with his fingers as you think it over. Rubbing a thumb over his knuckles, picking up each digit and curling them and straightening them again, "Can we go for a ride?"
Jason grins, "Course, love. Where's your helmet?"
AHHH!! Hope you guys enjoyed!!!!

Silverstone
pairing : lewis hamilton x reader
fandom : formula 1
synopsis : you celebrate lewis' win, and show him just how proud of him you are.
warnings : smut and references to 2021
a/n : CANT STOP CRYING BECAUSE LEWIS JUST WON SILVERSTONE SO HERE'S SOME FLUFFY GOODNESS with a side of smut 🙈
the sun shone brightly overhead as lewis soared past the chequered flag, and you screamed and jumped up and down in the mercedes garage.
the roar of the crowd was deafening in the best way possible, screams, shouts whoops and laughter filling the air as he soared by, fist pumped in victory as he let out a whoop himself. you couldn't help but sob into your hands as he waved the flag around in sheer joy, tears streaming down your face, watery laughs and cheers leaving your lips as you stuck to his dad, both of you feeling the same exhilaration that you were sure lewis was feeling too.
bono grabbed you blindly, running with you to parc ferme so you could both be there when lewis stepped out of his car. you couldn't help but sob harder as you saw him wipe away tears, shaking his head as the intensity of emotions sink into him.
you watched with a full heart and shaking hands as he walked to his dad, leaning into him as he allowed himself to cry, to really feel the depth of the moment. you cried, hands shaking against your mouth as you watched him, grinning widely as he turned to you, grabbing your waist as he buried his face into the crook of your neck, wet tears soaking your skin as you held him tight, arms wound around his neck as you squeezed him tight, a melody of "im so proud of you my love" poured into his ears from your sweet voice.
"im so so proud of you, you did so well baby!" you cried pulling away from the embrace to kiss his forehead, laughing as he scooped you up to spin you around. tears streamed freely down his face as he set you down, stroking your cheekbone, breathing harshly as he gripped you tight.
he pulled you back to him, bodies pressed against each other, not caring about the flashing cameras, saying loudly, "i love you!", before dipping you down to kiss you, hands gripping your hips.
his lips met yours in a fiercely passionate kiss, stained with tears of devotion and the three of hope you had both invested into him, into his pursuit of a win, and now he had finally done it with you by his side, at his home race.
it was a kiss that spoke of triumph and longing, of battles fought and won. your embrace was tight, your bodies pressed close as if trying to merge your shared exhilaration. the world around you blurred, and all that existed was the sheer happiness you felt at that very moment.
you gripped his wrist as he pulled away, getting ready to head to the podium, pressing a fleeting kiss to his pulse points as he mouthed "I love you" at you, walking away to prepare to take his rightful place on the podium.
you stood with anthony as you both looked up at your champion, a smile so wide your cheeks were starting to hurt. you cheered loudly, clapping and jumping when he was presented with the trophy, raising it up to the air and pointing to his team and bono, and then to you and his dad, a wide smile and teary eyes looking down at you.
anthony filmed you with a wide grin, before wrapping and arm around your shoulders as the anthem played and lewis' eyes filled with tears. "thats how much it means to him, huh?" you murmured, as you sniffled.
on your other side, susie wrapped you in a hug, nodding against you as you sunk into her embrace. "thats what it means" she said, her own voice breaking as she looked at you, melting at the devotion and adoration in your eyes as you looked up at lewis.
when the champagne was popped, lewis ran over to the edge, tipping some bubbly in your direction as you laughed, giggling as he blew you a kiss and you blew one back.
as the ceremony came to an end, you made your way back to the hospitality, shaking champagne out of your hair as members from the team came up to hug you. the atmosphere was joyous as the crowd sang and celebrated, and you took out your phone to capture the incredible atmosphere. carmen came over to congratulate you, giving you a tight hug before going to find george.
you went to sit down, still feeling from the emotional high as you took a big gulp of cold water. you knew how hard lewis had worked for this, all the highs and lows he had experienced on this long path. you knew of all the long nights he spent at the factory and in the sim, all the hard days and the bad days, all the nights he had come to you, weary and longing for your warmth.
all the moments he felt like he wasn't worth the trouble, and you reminded him fiercely of your love and how it didn't depend on his ability to race. all the nights you felt the despair he felt, tears and hugs keeping you from falling apart as he told you he felt he shouldn't stay on.
the desperate heartbreak you had felt in 2021 when he looked so defeated your own knees almost buckled, all the love it had taken to bring your lewis back to you.
it was all worth it in the moment. it was all worth it. it was all worth it. it was all worth it-
the recurring chain of thought was cut off by a warm pair of arms wrapping around your shoulders, and the smell of champagne filling your nostrils.
"lewis" you breathed, as he gently tugged you with him to his driver's room.
"im so proud of you, honey" you whispered, letting him sink into the couch, as you sat down in his lap, legs on either side of his waist as you pressed kisses to his nose and his cheeks and his forehead and temples, and finally his lips.
"thank you" he whispered back, head resting on your collarbone as he took deep breaths, steadying his racing heartbeat.
you could feel fresh tears soaking your skin as he clung to you, and you stroked his head gently, letting him take his time.
as he pulled back slightly, you saw the tears welling in his eyes. "it was all worth it," he said, his voice choked with emotion. "every challenge, every setback, every victory—it was all worth it."
"formula one is a part of my blood," he continued, his voice steadying as he spoke. "i understand that now more than ever. this sport, this life—it's who I am."
he paused, his eyes searching yours, filled with gratitude and love. "i wouldn't have made it here without you. you've been with me through it all, through the highs and the lows. i can't thank you enough for staying by my side." he continued stroking your chin as you smiled at him.
tears welled up in your eyes as you reached out to touch his cheek, your heart swelling with pride and love for the man who had just made history. "im so proud of you, lewis," you whispered, your voice filled with emotion. "and I'll always be here, no matter what." you promised, pressing a kiss to his hand.
soon enough, your little bubble was broken when the door opened and his family filed in, his mum reaching for you to give you a tight hug and soon all of you and his entire family were heading for an early light dinner before what was a 100% going to be a wild night of partying.
*:・゚✧*:・゚✧*:・゚✧*:・゚✧*:・゚✧*:・゚✧
after an early dinner of pizza with his family, you had just about time for a quick shower and a change of clothes, feeling a giddy happiness you had sorely missed throbbing through your bones as you watched lewis step in for his own shower.
lando had sent a text to lewis, saying "club to get absolutely hammered (non alcoholically for you) on me" and you had laughed and made your way to your hotel to get dressed.
you changed into a particularly rivetingly sexy little dress you had bought especially for a moment like this, a body hugging little number that hugged every curve and fold on your body with straps all over. you paired it with your favourite perfume, painting your lips a dark cherry red, a colour you knew lewis loved on you. you added seductive black eyeliner and mascara, a rosy blush and a glittery highlight, and darkened your eyes with kajal. you looked every bit the temptress you felt and you knew you would be having the time of your life with lewis later in the night.
lewis got ready himself, dressing himself in a black tank and dark pants, pairing it with his favourite bracelets and necklaces to glitter softly. he looked ethereal himself, every bit a charming champion and you couldn't help the flutter of arousal you felt in your chest.
you smirked to yourself as lewis leaned against the cupboard, watching you spritz yourself with perfume, before stalking over to you to bite into the flesh of your neck.
the sudden contact had you gasping and shuddering as you tilted your head back, letting him suck on the skin till it bruised. he pulled away with a satisfied grin, before pulling you to your feet and sinking down on his knees.
you shuddered as he gently raised your foot, kissing you ankle before sliding your strappy heels onto your foot, kissing your shin and calves before moving to the other.
the act of sheer devotion had you melting even more for him, and you could feel yourself getting wet for the gorgeous hunk of a man before you. you shrieked when he suddenly kissed your thighs and licked up them, yanking your lacy panties to the side to lick a stripe into your pussy, making you moan loudly before he pulled away, smirking.
"later, baby" he promised, walking out the door, leaving you a panting mess.

the famous nightclub the guys had chosen pulsed with powerful beats as a sea of bodies moved in perfect harmony to the sultry rhythms on the dance floor, illuminated by vibrant electric blue and crimson lights. the atmosphere buzzed with an intoxicating blend of pounding music, exuberant laughter, and the mingling aromas of premium tequila, fruity cocktails, rich whiskeys, and hoppy beers. you cheered in excitement as the dj began to play usher, as you shouted over the noise, "I'm going to order some shots!" before weaving your way through the crowd to the bustling bar.
lewis watched you walk away, going to find charles and lando in the crowd, who were mingling with other friends.
he watched you lean over the bar, your breasts pushing against the material of your dress, bent at the waist as you ordered a Washington apple shot, giggling with lily, alex's girlfriend as you clinked a glass with her.
he felt his mouth go dry when you licked the apple slice in the shot, sucking it dry before downing the shot in one go, neck tilting back, all exposed for him. he licked his lips, feeling the groin region of his pants become uncomfortably tight. he made his way over to you, the thumping beat of usher's 'yeah' filling his eardrums.
thick arms wrapped around your waist, and the bristle of a familiar beard warmed your neck as lewis wrapped himself around you, pressing soft kisses to your skin as you giggled and swayed against him. earned it by the weeknd began to play in the background and your smirked.
you let your head droop onto his shoulder, walking backwards with him onto the dance floor, hands wrapped around his own thick arms as you softly ground your hips into him, wining your ass against his gardening cock.
you sang the words, letting your hands slide down to his chest to feel the hard outline of his pecs, eyes narrowed sultrily as you swayed against him. his eyes were a jet black as he took in your movements, one hand sliding down to grip your hips and squeeze.
"I need you to take me back to the hotel, lew" you moaned, as he ground up into you. your words had him growling softly, dragging you out of the club to his car, ignoring the hoots and hollers from the younger drivers.
the car ride back was charged and electric as you made our hungrily, teeth and tongues clashing as you both moaned lewdly enough for the driver to hear.
*:・゚✧*:・゚✧*:・゚✧*:・゚✧*:・゚✧*:・゚✧
in the hotel, you could hardly wait till you reached your room, and almost immediately, clothes were tossed in all corners of the room, and you were sinking to you knees on the soft carpet as lewis sank into the bed
"you did so well today baby, fighting to the win? getting what you really deserve?that's some pretty badass driving, and it was really fucking sexy to watch as well" you mumbled against his lips, feeling him smirk against yours as you did."you did so well, i think you deserve a reward. after everything you've fought through, you came out on top like the champion you are" you continued, walking backwards onto the bed, reaching up to caress his collarbone, leaning down to suck on the skin of his neck, gently running your hands down to his underwear, tracing his waist, gently squeezing the hardened muscle, fingers tracing his abs feeling him harden against you.
you pulled your hair into a ponytail, hands gently trailing down his stomach, feeling the goosebumps break out on his body, watching as you sunk down to your knees again, crawling forward, swaying your ass seductively behind you, and you felt his cock get visibly harder.
"you deserve to fuck my mouth. my winner" you whispered softly, running your hands up his thighs, feeling his muscles clench as you did. nodding his approval to you, he cleared his throat, hand gently squeezing your shoulder.
lewis watched you lick your lips as you unbuttoned and unzipped, pulling down his pants and boxers until his hard dick bounced free, almost smacking against you. you looked up at him as you wet your lips.
"im going to give you the sloppiest blowjob ever" you grinned, glancing up at him before kissing his tip. "all for my 104 time race winner" you continued.
he smiled as he watched you grin, before opening your mouth wide and taking his cock on your waiting tongue. you licked and sucked on just the tip as you teased his balls and drew circles into his calf.
lewis knew he would have the time of his life. his one (of many about you) weakness was the feel of your mouth on his dick, and he bit back a gulp as he saw the lust in your eyes. eyes as you eased him deeper, inch by inch.
"fuck," he whispered softly, watching you start sucking, laving your tongue against him. his chest heaved as he groaned quietly, letting you ease your lips back to the tip before taking him again. he watched the way your cheek bulged with a twinge of pride.
he hit the back of your throat, feeling the sensation through his entire body, and he reached for the back of your head with both his big hands, holding you in place while you sucked on him.
you sucked and licked him with your mouth, the friction a delicious heat as you went faster with each stroke.
you moaned around him and lewis jerked himself deep inside until he was hitting the back of your throat again, making you choke a little.
"you're my everything" he grunted as you grabbed his hips with both hands and bobbrf your head, taking a little more of him with each stroke. the wet, lewd sounds as you hollowed your cheeks and took him had him bucking into your mouth
lewis ground his hips into you, hand pushing you onto his dick. you moaned and gagged s as you sucked on him
lewis felt the rising torrent in his body as he threw his head back. he watched you open your mouth wide and take him inside, licking the underside of his cock and drooling all over his length.
the motion was enough to make him burst into your mouth, making you gasp as his cum filled your mouth. your mouth didn't relent, sucking harder as he cried out, cumming more as you swallowed all of him.
he dragged you swiftly up from the floor, pushing you on your back into the bed, lifting your dress, he bunched the material up so it rested on your waist; your ass that you were waving at him prior was on display. lewis' lips found your straining nipples as he licked them, sucking and biting till they were dripping in saliva and he had you whining and twisting above him, one hand pinching the nipple he wasn't able to suck, alternating.
he continued to suck as moved your panties to the side, stroking up your thighs, before bending down and softly licking at your pussy, making you moan.
“fuck, you're so wet. how long have you been like this?” he asked, licking your clit.
you groaned. “since we started getting ready to leave" you moaned, head falling against the pillow as his tongue shoved into your weeping hole, tasting your juices. "please…" you moaned as his finger rubbed your clit in slow circles, just the way you liked it, and you moaned loudly, biting your lip and shutting your eyes.
his fingers moved to your hole while his tongue turned to your clit, flicking the bean with his tongue, laving his tongue over it and sucking it in between his lips. his actions had your hips ricocheting off the bed as his nose swiped your pussy and you were bucking into his face with lewd moans as he devoured your pussy like a man starved.
"mm..wanna ride you!" you groaned, and lewis was pulling off your pussy with a wet kiss, rolling you both over so you were on top.
"take a ride love," he opened his arms, welcoming you in as he helped you get on top of him.
once you were situated on his thighs, you grabbed ahold of his cock, lining it up with your pussy before sinking down on him, planting your feet on the mattress to grind back and forth, before slowly transitioning too bouncing on his cock.
your clit was brushed against the small patch of hair on his pubic bone, and the friction felt absolutely amazing.
your hands moved up to his chest, as you began to move your hips. lewis' hands moved to your hips, as his own bucked up making you whimper.
"feel so good, baby. so good” he moaned, and you moaned as his huge dick spread you out. you began to bounce down, faster and harder.
lewis felt euphoric as he watched you move faster, his hands coming up your hair,
he was deep, deep inside you and his dick was hitting that place where you both felt incredibly good. you could feel him all the way up in your stomach.
"you deserve all the wins!" you whined and harry nodded, his mouth forming an O shape. "fuck!" lewis grunted, curls sticking to his forehead.
"i'm gonna cum" he said, gripping your hips and spearing you up and down in his cock, planting his own feet on the mattress as he started fucking up into you.
his hand wrapped around to your ass, smacking the jiggling flesh harshly, the other wrapping around your neck and hips periodically, spanking you and caressing your curves, mouth dipping to your nipples to suck them hard.
the overwhelming sensations had you squealing as you bounced faster, cries and squeals leaving your mouth as your tits bounced wildly and your pussy clenched on his big dick.
"wanna paint your pussy white" he groaned as he pounded your pussy, hips snapping into you like a jack hammer, hammering your sweet spot as you moaned incoherently on top of him.
"cum in my pussy baby" you babbled, nails digging into his chest as he smacked your ass again harshly, making your pussy squeeze. when he reached down and began to violently rub your clit, you came with a scream, your pussy clamping down on his dick like a vice.
the sensation had his stomach fluttering as you gushed over him, crying and groaning as he sucked your nipples, before emptying his load into you with a moan.
he spilled ropes of his cum into you, shuddering against you as he felt you milk his cock. "I love you" you painted, hands clinging to him for support as you went boneless. lewis' broad arms dragged you down on top of him, cock still inside you and twitching, keeping you stuffed full of his cum.
"i adore you and love you so much" lewis said, kissing your forehead as he cuddled into you.
"i love you more. i hope you liked your present" you grinned, giggling when he swiped his fingers in your pussy and licked up your juices.
a night fit for a winner.
your winner.

The church was quiet that afternoon, sunlight streaming through the stained glass windows in kaleidoscopic patterns. The scent of old wood and faint incense lingered in the air as Max held their son, Theo, in his arms, cradling him with surprising ease for someone who once joked that he wasn’t "the baby type."
Theo was dressed in a tiny white onesie and matching cap, his round cheeks rosy and his wide blue eyes staring up at Max, completely unbothered by the world around him.
“He’s so calm,” Max murmured, glancing at her as they walked down the aisle together. She was radiant, holding the christening blanket her aunt had gifted them, her hand brushing against his arm as they moved toward the altar.
“He takes after you,” she teased softly, smiling. “You always seem so calm on the outside.”
Max chuckled under his breath, adjusting Theo slightly. “That’s just because I hide it well. Inside, I’m panicking about every little thing.”
Her aunt walked a few steps behind them, her smile warm and proud as she watched the young family. Danny was there too, looking surprisingly put together in a blazer that didn’t quite match his slacks but worked well enough. He held a small silver baptismal cup he’d insisted on buying for Theo.
When they reached the altar, the pastor greeted them with a kind smile, his voice gentle. “It’s a beautiful day for this, isn’t it?”
Max looked over at her, and she nodded, her smile soft but full of emotion. “It really is.”
The ceremony was simple and intimate, just as they’d wanted. The pastor spoke about the importance of love and family, his words resonating deeply with everyone in the room.
When it came time to pour the water over Theo’s head, Max passed the baby to her with careful hands, his fingers brushing hers. Theo squirmed slightly but didn’t cry, his tiny hands clutching at the air as the cool water touched his skin.
“Theodore Max Emilian Verstappen,” the pastor intoned, blessing the baby with a gentle hand on his head. “May you walk in faith and love all the days of your life.”
Her aunt dabbed at her eyes with a tissue, and even Danny seemed unusually quiet, his gaze fixed on the scene in front of him.
When the ceremony ended, Max turned to her with a look of quiet awe, his hand resting on her back as they stepped away from the altar. “He did good,” he said softly, glancing down at their son.
She smiled, brushing her fingers over Theo’s soft cheek. “He really did.”
Afterward, they all gathered near the back of the church, taking turns holding Theo and snapping a few pictures. Danny held the baby awkwardly, his large hands looking almost comical against Theo’s tiny frame.
“I never thought I’d see the day, man,” Danny said, his voice full of affection as he looked at Max. “You’re a dad. And a damn good one, too.”
Max grinned, his arm slipping around her waist. “Thanks, Danny. Couldn’t have done it without her, though.”
Danny handed Theo back to her, and she cradled him against her chest, her heart swelling as Max leaned in to kiss her temple.
Her aunt stepped forward then, wrapping them both in a hug. “You’ve made a beautiful family,” she said, her voice thick with emotion. “I’m so proud of you, darling.”
Tears welled in her eyes, but she blinked them away, nodding. “Thank you.”
Max cleared his throat, his voice rough. “We’re just getting started, but… yeah. I think we’re doing okay.”
She turned to him, her smile radiant. “We’re doing more than okay.”
As they walked out of the church together, the sun shining down on them, Max tightened his arm around her and glanced at their son. Theo yawned, his tiny fist curling against her chest.
Max couldn’t really ever believe this was his life.
The apartment was a quiet chaos, the kind that came with a newborn. Bottles sat drying on the counter, a stack of laundry waited to be folded on the couch, and the faint smell of coffee lingered in the air. Max shuffled through the living room, Theo nestled against his chest in one arm, his other hand running through his dishevelled hair. He was running on fumes, a few hours of broken sleep stretched thin across work and baby duties, but he wouldn’t trade it for the world.
A knock at the door broke his train of thought. He frowned, glancing at the clock. It was too early for Danny to swing by, and they weren’t expecting any deliveries.
Still holding Theo, Max made his way to the door, unlocking it with one hand and pulling it open. His expression hardened instantly when he saw who was standing there.
Her mother.
She stood in the hallway, clutching a handbag tightly in front of her, her expression a mix of hesitation and determination. She looked older than Max remembered from the last time he’d seen her—her face lined with worry, her posture stiff.
Without a word, Max reached out and closed the door in her face.
“Nope,” he muttered, locking the door for good measure.
He turned on his heel and walked back into the apartment, Theo still snoozing against his chest. His jaw was tight, but he knew this wasn’t his call to make.
In the bedroom, she was curled up on the bed, her hair loose and her head resting on her folded arms. She looked up as he walked in, her face softening when she saw him with the baby.
“Hey,” she said sleepily. “Everything okay?”
Max adjusted Theo carefully before sitting on the edge of the bed. He looked at her for a moment, unsure how to say it.
“Angel,” he began, his voice low but steady. “Your mother’s at the door.”
The words hung in the air between them, heavy and unexpected.
Her eyes widened, and she sat up slowly, pushing her hair back as she processed what he’d just said. “She’s here?”
Max nodded, his gaze softening as he watched her. “Yeah. She didn’t say anything. Just knocked. But… it’s her.”
Her breath hitched, and she looked down at her hands, her fingers fidgeting with the edge of the blanket. Two years. Two years since she’d last seen or heard from her mother, and now she was just outside their door.
“Do you want me to tell her to leave?” Max offered gently, his free hand reaching out to rest on her knee.
She shook her head, her voice barely above a whisper. “No… I’ll talk to her.”
Max studied her face, his concern etched into every line of his expression. “You don’t have to, you know. Not if you’re not ready.”
She looked up at him then, her eyes steady despite the storm of emotions swirling inside her. “I am.”
Max nodded, leaning forward to press a kiss to her forehead. “I’ll be right here if you need me.”
She took a deep breath, gathering her strength, and slid off the bed. As she walked toward the door, Max watched her go, Theo still cradled against his chest.
“You’ve got this, Angel,” he said softly, pride and love in every word.
She nodded without looking back, her hand already reaching for the doorknob.
She opened the door slowly, revealing her mother still standing there in the hallway. Her mother’s posture was still just as rigid, her grip on her handbag white-knuckled as though she’d spent the entire time trying to decide whether to knock again or walk away.
“Hi, Mum,” she said, her voice steady but guarded.
Her mother’s face softened, the slightest smile forming. “Hi, sweetheart. Can I come in?”
She hesitated for a moment before stepping aside. “Sure.”
Her mother walked in, her eyes immediately scanning the apartment. It wasn’t flashy, but it was warm and homey, filled with small touches of personality: framed photos on the walls, a baby blanket draped over the back of the couch, a bassinet in the corner.
Max was standing in the living room, Theo tucked securely in his arms. His expression was unreadable, but the protective way he held their son spoke volumes.
“Coffee?” she asked, gesturing toward the kitchen.
Her mother nodded. “Yes, please.”
She moved to start the coffee pot, keeping her hands busy while her mother sat stiffly on the couch. Max didn’t move, his eyes fixed on her mother like a hawk watching its prey.
“So,” her mother began, her voice tinged with the usual air of judgement, “I heard through the grapevine at church that you had a baby. Was anyone going to tell me, or was I just supposed to find out from strangers?”
She set the mugs down on the counter with a clink, her jaw tightening. Before she could respond, Max spoke up from where he stood.
“We’ve been a little busy raising him, in case you hadn’t noticed.”
Her mother’s eyes flicked to Max for the first time, narrowing slightly as if sizing him up. “You must be Max.”
“That’s me,” he replied dryly, bouncing Theo lightly in his arms.
Her mother ignored his tone and turned back to her daughter. “I’d like to meet him properly,” she said, her voice softening as she looked at the baby. “Can I hold him?”
Before she could answer, Max cut in, his voice sharp. “It is not holding my son.”
She had to bite the inside of her cheek to keep from laughing at the way Max referred to her mother as it. The corners of her mouth twitched, but she managed to keep her composure, though her mother didn’t miss the faint smirk.
Her mother’s face fell into an exaggerated look of hurt, tears immediately welling up in her eyes. “I’m your mother. Don’t I deserve to hold my grandchild?”
Max didn’t flinch. He simply stared at her, his hand resting on his hip, his expression unmoved. “You want me to feel bad? You watched her get beat for years and didn’t do a damn thing to stop it. So no, you’re not stepping a foot near our baby.”
Her mother’s crocodile tears dried up almost instantly at his words, her expression shifting into something more calculating. She opened her mouth to argue, but one glance at Max and she seemed to think better of it.
Her daughter finally stepped forward, coffee mugs in hand, and set them on the table. She sat down across from her mother, her voice calm but firm. “Mum, I think you should leave.”
Her mother blinked, startled. “But—”
“No,” she interrupted gently but decisively. “This is my family now. If you want to be part of it, you’ll have to accept that things are different. That I’m different. And if you can’t, then there’s nothing else to say.”
Cutting her off before she’d even finished her sentence, her mother cut in, giving her daughter a pointed look and said, “I heard you even managed to get him to step foot in a church.”
Before she could respond, Max’s head snapped up, his brows lifting in mock offence. “He is right here,” he said, his tone dry but laced with amusement.
She laughed softly, shaking her head as she walked over to take Theo from Max’s arms, but the corners of his mouth twitched in that way they always did when he was holding back a grin.
Her mother raised an eyebrow, her judgmental gaze shifting between the two of them. “You know,” she began, folding her arms across her chest, “you can come home now. There’s no need for all of this.” She gestured vaguely around the apartment, her tone dismissive, as though their entire life together was an inconvenience to be corrected.
Her daughter stilled for a moment, cradling Theo close as the weight of those words settled over her. Then, without hesitation, she raised her chin and said firmly, “I am home.”
Max straightened at that, his gaze locking on hers, pride radiating from him like a steady warmth. “Damn right you are,” he murmured, his voice quiet but resolute, though he didn’t look at her mother when he said it.
Her mother’s face twisted slightly, her discomfort evident. “You’re sure this is the life you want?”
Her daughter smiled down at Theo, then glanced up at Max, who was watching her with that same unwavering confidence he always had.
“I’ve never been more sure of anything,” she said simply.
Max stepped closer, standing behind her protectively, Theo still secure in her arms. Her mother’s gaze flicked between the two of them before she finally stood, her movements slow and deliberate.
“I’ll think about what you said,” her mother murmured, her tone almost begrudging.
“You do that,” Max said flatly, watching as she walked toward the door.
She closed the door behind her mother with a sense of finality, leaning against it for a moment before turning to Max.
“Thank you,” she said softly.
“You don’t have to thank me, Angel. Nobody messes with my family.”
She smiled, holding Theo close as she looked up at him. “I love you.”
“Love you too,” he replied, his voice full of warmth. “Now let’s forget about her and focus on what really matters.”
She nodded, already feeling lighter as she looked down at their son, safe in her arms.
That night Max stirred in the middle of the night, instinctively reaching out to the other side of the bed. His hand met only cool sheets, and his heart skipped a beat. He blinked into the darkness, his eyes adjusting as he realised she wasn’t there.
A quiet noise drew his attention. He sat up, his ears straining, and caught the faint sound of sniffling. Throwing the blankets aside, he stood and padded toward the source of the sound.
The sight stopped him in his tracks.
She was sitting on the floor, knees drawn to her chest, her face streaked with silent tears as she stared at Theo sleeping peacefully in his crib. The soft light from the nightlight cast a faint glow over her, highlighting the anguish in her expression.
“Angel?” he whispered, his voice low and tender as he crouched down beside her. “What’s wrong?”
She didn’t look at him right away, her gaze still fixed on Theo’s tiny chest rising and falling with every steady breath. When she finally turned to Max, her eyes shimmered with fresh tears, her voice breaking as she spoke.
“How could anyone hurt something so innocent?” she whispered, her voice trembling. “How could anyone look at a baby and see anything but… pure love?”
Max’s heart cracked at the pain in her voice, and he reached out to cup her face, his thumb gently brushing away a stray tear. “Angel…”
She shook her head, her words tumbling out in a raw torrent. “I think about what he did to me, Max. The yelling, the hitting… And I think about Theo. About how small he is, how he trusts us completely. How could anyone ever look at their own child and think they’re evil?” Her breath hitched as she wiped at her face with trembling hands. “What did I ever do to deserve that? What did I ever do to make him hate me so much?”
Max sat down beside her, his back resting against the wall, and pulled her into his lap. She melted into him, her face buried against his chest as he wrapped his arms around her.
“You didn’t do anything,” he said, his voice steady and low, a quiet anchor in the storm of her emotions. “You hear me? Not a damn thing. That’s on him, not you. Never you.”
Her tears soaked through his shirt as he held her tighter, his hand stroking up and down her back in soothing motions.
“Look at me,” he murmured after a while, tilting her chin up gently. His eyes were fierce, steady as they met hers. “You’re nothing like him. You’re the best mum Theo could ever have. You’re kind, patient, loving—you give him everything you never got. And I swear, Angel, no one will ever lay a hand on him. Not while I’m breathing.”
Her lip quivered, but she nodded, clutching at him like he was the only thing keeping her afloat. “I just… I don’t want him to grow up like I did,” she whispered.
“He won’t,” Max promised, his voice firm. “Because you’re breaking the cycle. You already have. Look at what you’ve built, Angel. This is your family. Your home. Theo is safe because of you.”
As Max held her, her breathing evened out, but her grip on his shirt stayed tight. She leaned her forehead against his chest, her voice barely a whisper.
“I’m scared, Max.”
He tilted his head down to look at her, his hand still stroking her back. “Of what, Angel?”
She hesitated, her eyes flickering back to Theo’s crib. “Raising him. I’m scared of forcing my religion on him, of turning into my dad, of…” She took a shaky breath. “What if I make him feel like I did? Scared of failing, scared of not being good enough? I don’t know how to do this without screwing him up.”
Max shifted so he could see her face fully, his thumb brushing gently over her cheek. His voice was steady but firm, filled with the quiet conviction she’d come to rely on.
“Your dad used religion as an excuse, Angel,” he said carefully. “To control you. To hurt you. That’s on him, not you. Not the religion. You’ve never been like him, and you never will be.”
Her eyes filled with tears again, but she blinked them back, her lips trembling. “What if I don’t know how to navigate this? What if I don’t teach him right? What if I push too hard or not enough? And… what if he doesn’t want to be Christian?”
Max exhaled softly and leaned his forehead against hers, his hand cupping the back of her neck.
“Then he doesn’t have to be,” he said gently. “But that’s not something you have to decide for him. All you can do is give him a safe place to figure out what he believes, what feels right to him. You’ve already broken away from the way you were raised. You’re letting him grow up in love, not fear. That’s the difference, Angel.”
She closed her eyes, tears slipping down her cheeks again, but this time there was a hint of relief in the way her shoulders relaxed.
“But what if I mess up?” she whispered.
He smiled faintly, his lips brushing against her forehead. “Then we figure it out together. You don’t have to have all the answers. That’s why I’m here, remember?”
Her lips curved in the tiniest smile, and she let out a shaky laugh. “What did I do to deserve you?”
Max grinned, pulling her a little closer. “You loved me when no one else did, Angel. That’s all I’ll ever need.”
She rested her head against his chest, listening to his heartbeat. Theo stirred softly in his crib, letting out a tiny coo, and they both looked over at him.
“We’ll figure it out, Max,” she murmured. “We’ll make sure he’s safe and loved. That’s all that matters.”
Max nodded, his voice low but resolute. “We will. I promise.”
That morning the light filtered softly through the curtains, and the quiet sounds of Theo stirring in his crib filled the room. She stood in front of the mirror, brushing her hair and tying it back with practised precision. Max leaned against the doorframe, watching her quietly.
After a moment, he spoke. “Why don’t we come with you today?”
She froze mid-motion, staring at his reflection in the mirror. “To church?”
He nodded, stepping further into the room. “Yeah. After last night, maybe it’d be good for you—for all of us.”
She turned to face him, uncertainty etched across her face. “Max, you don’t have to do that. You’ve never…” She trailed off, struggling to find the words.
“I know,” he said, his voice soft but firm. “But you’re my family now. If you need this, maybe I do too. Besides, it wouldn’t kill me to sit through one Sunday service.”
Her lips parted as if to argue, but then she closed them, her expression softening. “Are you sure? I mean, you’d have to bring Theo too, and he can be fussy, and…”
Max smirked. “Angel, I can change an engine in my sleep, I’m sure I can deal with a baby in a Church. And, hey,” he added with a teasing grin, “I figure the building won’t burn down if I step inside.”
She laughed, rolling her eyes. “Fine, but I don’t think you have anything to wear.”
He tilted his head, a mischievous glint in his eyes. “Oh, don’t I?”
Before she could respond, he walked to their shared wardrobe and pushed aside her dresses, rummaging toward the back. With a flourish, he pulled out a neatly pressed button-up shirt and a pair of dark slacks.
Her jaw dropped. “Where did those come from?”
He grinned. “Had ‘em stashed back here just in case. Didn’t think I’d ever need ‘em, but, y’know, marriage changes a man.”
She stepped forward, inspecting the outfit with a laugh. “Max Emilian Verstappen, you’ve been holding out on me.”
“What can I say? I like keeping you on your toes.” He leaned in, brushing a kiss to her temple. “Now, hurry up and get ready. Can’t have you showing me up too much.”
They got ready together, her fixing the buttons on his shirt while he fastened a tiny bow tie onto Theo. The baby squirmed, babbling happily as his parents fussed over him.
Max stood in front of the mirror, fidgeting with his cuffs. “How do I look?” he asked, spinning around dramatically.
She looked him over, smiling warmly. “Like the handsomest man in church.”
He smirked, pulling her in for a quick kiss. “And you, Angel, look like the most beautiful woman on the planet.”
Her cheeks flushed, and she swatted at him playfully. “Alright, alright. Let’s get going before you make me blush any more.”
With Theo in Max’s arms and her holding her Bible, the three of them headed out the door as a family, ready to head to Church together.
The small church was already buzzing with quiet conversation and the shuffle of feet as the congregation settled into their pews. The moment they walked through the doors, the heads began to turn. Not just because of Theo babbling softly in Max’s arms, but because of Max himself.
He was impossible to ignore—towering in his pressed shirt and slacks, his sleeves rolled up just enough to show his forearms, and his messy hair somehow still looking effortlessly charming. He scanned the room, slightly uncomfortable but standing tall for her sake.
She didn’t miss how some of the wives in the congregation shot lingering glances in his direction, their eyes flicking up and down appreciatively. It took everything in her not to smirk.
They slid into a pew near the back, Max settling Theo on his lap as she tucked herself against his side. The service began with a hymn, her voice blending beautifully with the others. Max didn’t sing, but he listened, his gaze drifting to her every few moments.
It wasn’t long before she caught sight of them—her parents sitting a few rows ahead, her mother’s hat tilted just so, and her father’s rigid posture unmistakable. The knot in her stomach tightened briefly, but then Max’s hand found hers, squeezing it reassuringly.
She glanced up at him, his steady presence a reminder of how far she’d come. Her lips curved into a smile, and she gave his hand a grateful squeeze back. Her family might have been there, but for the first time, they felt like a distant thought.
As the sermon began, Max kept Theo entertained, bouncing him gently and making silly faces. She noticed the subtle glances from the wives again, and this time she couldn’t help herself. Leaning over, she pressed a soft kiss to Max’s cheek, lingering just long enough to make sure it was noticed.
Max turned to her, eyebrows raised in amusement. “What was that for?” he murmured quietly.
She gave him a sly smile. “Just wanted to remind everyone who you belong to.”
He huffed a soft laugh, shaking his head. “Angel, you’re trouble.”
It was Max’s idea to head to a diner after Church to “celebrate” his first ever Sunday service, as though he were a child who needed rewarding.
The small diner was bustling with life, the smell of freshly brewed coffee and sizzling griddles filling the air. Max had chosen their usual booth by the window, settling Theo into a high chair next to them. The baby busied himself with a teething toy while they waited for their food.
The plates arrived, steaming and tempting. Max had gone for his usual burger and fries, while she’d chosen a hearty plate of pancakes and eggs. For a while, everything seemed perfect. She smiled at Theo’s delighted coos and laughed softly at Max’s commentary about the service, how much better it was compared to the greasy spoon near the shop.
But as the meal went on, her smile started to fade. She couldn’t help the creeping thoughts that had been nagging her since church. The wives—polished, graceful, and put-together—flitted across her mind. Their elegant hairstyles, perfectly pressed dresses, and glossy makeup stood in stark contrast to her simple ponytail, minimal makeup, and the faint exhaustion she knew lingered in her eyes from late nights with Theo.
Her appetite waned as the thoughts deepened. She picked at her pancakes, moving pieces around the plate but not actually eating.
Max noticed almost immediately. He paused mid-bite, glancing at her untouched food, then at the faraway look in her eyes. “Angel,” he said softly, his tone laced with concern. “What’s going on?”
She blinked, startled out of her thoughts. “Huh?”
“You’ve barely touched your food.” He leaned forward, resting his forearms on the table, his full attention on her. “You okay?”
Her instinct was to brush it off. She forced a small smile, waving a hand dismissively. “It’s nothing, really. I’m fine.”
Max’s brow furrowed, not buying it. “You sure? You’ve been quiet since we got here.”
She bit her lip, fighting the urge to spill everything. She didn’t want to seem silly, especially over something so trivial. Instead, she nodded. “Yeah, just got lost in my own head for a minute. It’s no biggie.”
Max didn’t push further, but the flicker of doubt in his eyes told her he wasn’t convinced. Still, he let it go, giving her a small, encouraging smile. “Alright. But if something’s bothering you, you tell me, yeah?”
She nodded again, this time reaching across the table to give his hand a reassuring squeeze. “I will. Promise.”
He gave her fingers a gentle squeeze in return before leaning back in his seat, focusing on Theo, who was now enthusiastically banging his teething toy against the high chair tray.
She watched them interact, the tender way Max wiped a bit of drool from Theo’s chin and adjusted his bib. Her heart swelled with love, yet the self-doubt lingered, shadowing the edges of her thoughts. She couldn’t help but wonder how to reconcile these feelings with the life they’d built—a life she adored but sometimes felt she didn’t quite measure up to.
By nightfall, the apartment was quiet, save for the soft hum of the baby monitor. Max had just finished putting Theo to bed, lingering by the crib for a moment to run his fingers gently over his son’s soft hair. A deep contentment filled him as he padded back toward their bedroom.
The door to the shared bathroom was slightly ajar, light spilling softly into the dim room. He was about to call out to her when he paused, his steps faltering as his eyes caught her reflection in the mirror.
She stood in front of the mirror in just her bra and underwear, her fingers tracing the faint silver lines that stretched across her lower abdomen. The stretch marks from her pregnancy. Her other hand moved to her side, pinching softly at the curve of her hip, then sliding to her stomach. He watched as she sucked in her breath, holding it, as though trying to envision a different version of herself.
A wave of heartbreak and frustration welled up inside him. He didn’t understand how she couldn’t see what he saw—how every curve, every mark, was a testament to the life they’d created together.
He stepped into the bathroom, his bare feet silent against the tile, his shirtless form reflected in the mirror behind her. “Angel,” he said softly, his voice careful but carrying enough weight to pull her out of her thoughts.
She startled, her hand dropping from her stomach as she turned toward him, her cheeks flushing. “Max! I didn’t hear you come in.”
He crossed the distance between them in a few steps, his hands coming up to rest on her shoulders as his eyes searched hers. “What’s going on?” he asked gently. “I noticed you didn’t eat much earlier, and now I walk in on you doing… that.” He tilted his head toward the mirror. “Talk to me.”
Her lips parted, ready with a dismissal, but his gaze held hers, steady and unwavering. She sighed, lowering her head for a moment before looking back up at him. “I was just thinking about how the women at church looked at you today.” Her voice was quiet, tinged with vulnerability.
His brow furrowed, confusion flickering across his features. “What about it?”
“They’re all so put together, Max,” she admitted, her voice trembling slightly. “Their hair, their clothes, the way they carry themselves... and then there’s me.” She gestured vaguely toward herself. “I don’t look like them. I don’t feel like them. And I started… I don’t know, comparing myself. Thinking about how I’ve changed since Theo, how I…” She trailed off, biting her lip.
Max’s jaw tightened as she spoke, not out of frustration with her but at the sheer absurdity of her words. He reached out, cupping her face with both hands, his thumbs brushing lightly over her cheeks. “Angel, stop,” he said firmly, but his tone was tender. “You’re beautiful. You’re everything. They can look all they want because at the end of the day, I’m yours. Only yours.”
Her eyes glistened, but she shook her head slightly. “You say that, but I don’t feel it sometimes. I see these stretch marks, this extra weight—”
“And I see the woman who carried my son,” he interrupted, his voice thick with emotion. He pulled her closer, pressing his forehead to hers. “I see the woman who turned my life around, who made me believe in love, in family, in myself. Those marks? They’re proof of how strong you are, how much you’ve given me.”
She let out a shaky breath, her hands coming up to rest against his chest. “You really mean that?”
He pulled back just enough to meet her eyes, his gaze burning with sincerity. “With everything I’ve got.”
Slowly, he leaned down, brushing his lips against hers, tender at first, but as her hands slid up to his shoulders, the kiss deepened. His hands dropped to her waist, pulling her closer, his fingers splaying against the softness of her skin.
“Max…” she murmured against his lips, her voice a mixture of hesitation and need.
“Let me show you,” he whispered, his voice low and filled with promise, lifting her up onto the counter.
Max kissed her once more, this time deepening the kiss, his hands cradling her face as though she were something precious and fragile. The heat between them built rapidly, their breaths mingling in soft gasps. His fingers trailed down her jawline, along her neck, and over her shoulders, pausing to trace the delicate strap of her bra.
Her hands gripped his shoulders tightly, pulling him closer. He took a step forward, wedging himself firmly between her knees as her legs instinctively wrapped around his waist. His lips moved to her jaw, then down to the sensitive spot just below her ear, drawing a soft moan from her lips.
“Max…” she whispered, her voice trembling with emotion and desire.
He pulled back slightly, his forehead resting against hers, both of them breathing heavily. His hands slid down her sides, over the curve of her waist and hips, before coming to rest on her thighs. Slowly, he lifted her off the counter, holding her steady as her feet touched the floor.
“Look,” he murmured, his voice rough but tender as he turned her toward the mirror. She hesitated, but his hands on her waist grounded her, keeping her in place. “I want you to see what I see.”
Her eyes darted to her reflection, taking in the way her flushed skin glowed under the bathroom light, the way her lips were swollen from his kisses, and the unmistakable desire in his expression as he stood behind her, his chest pressed against her back.
He reached for one of her hands, guiding it gently behind her to rest against the unmistakable hardness beneath his boxers. “Feel that?” he whispered, his lips brushing against her ear. “No one else could do that to me, angel. No one. Only you.”
Her breath hitched as her fingers instinctively flexed, earning a low groan from him that sent shivers down her spine. His free hand slid to her stomach, tracing lazy circles just above the waistband of her underwear.
“Every time I look at you,” he continued, his voice a husky murmur, “I lose my mind. It doesn’t matter what you’re wearing or if your hair’s a mess. You—just you—are everything.”
Her reflection showed the way her eyes fluttered closed as his hand dipped lower, slipping beneath the thin band of her underwear. His touch was slow, deliberate, teasing, as though he had all the time in the world to show her exactly how he felt.
Her knees threatened to buckle, but he held her steady, his grip firm yet tender. “Max,” she whimpered, her voice barely above a whisper.
He pressed a kiss to her shoulder, his lips lingering there. “Let me show you,” he murmured again, and this time, she gave herself over completely, trusting him to erase every doubt and replace it with nothing but love.

Don't Cry Yet
Yandere!Gojo x Reader
Warnings: yandere themes, kidnapping mentioned, obsessive behaviour, violence, breaking of bones, gojo being crazy
Synopsis: You escape Gojo, or so you thought.
A/N: First post in a while and first time writing yandere stuff 🙈 REQUESTS ARE OPEN~
The sun had long set, casting the city in a blanket of darkness. You ran through the labyrinthine streets, heart pounding in your chest as you glanced over your shoulder. Satoru Gojo's piercing blue eyes flashed in your mind, a chilling reminder of who was pursuing you.
The memories of the last week flash in your mind as a way of encouragement to get you to run faster than before. To get away from this nightmare to get away from him. Stuck in that damn suffocating apartment, barely able to walk into another room before you get yanked back by the tight leash Gojo has you on.
'Who the hell does he think he is?' You think as you begin to turn your fear into anger.
You weaved through the narrow alleyways, your mind racing as fast as your feet. You couldn't let him catch you. Not again. You deserved your freedom, your life back. The thought of returning to that gilded cage sent a shiver down your spine. You channeled your cursed energy, using it to enhance your speed and agility. You were determined to put as much distance as possible between you and Gojo, even if it meant pushing yourself to your limits.
You turned a corner, hoping to lose him in the maze of alleyways. Your breath came in ragged gasps, legs burning with the effort of running. But you knew better than to think you could escape him so easily. He was always watching, always one step ahead.
"Will you stop running, darling? You know you won't get far." His voice echoed through the alley, teasing and playful, yet dripping with an underlying menace.
You pushed yourself harder, refusing to let his taunts break your resolve. But it was no use. You felt his presence like a shadow, creeping closer and closer. Suddenly, a flash of white, and he was in front of you, blocking your path with that infuriating grin.
"Did you really think you could escape from me?" he asked, cocking his head to the side. His eyes gleamed with a dangerous mix of amusement and possessiveness. You tried to dart around him, but he caught you effortlessly, his grip like iron around your wrist. "Oh no, you don't," he said softly, pulling you close. "You belong to me."
You quickly fired up your cursed energy into your fist and swung it straight at his face. Only to be stopped by his infinity and pinned against the wall. His hand shot out, fingers wrapping around your throat in a vice-like grip. Your breath hitched, eyes widening in fear.
"Don't struggle," he murmured, his voice low and dangerously calm. "You know you can't win."
He leaned in, his lips brushing against your ear. "I've given you too much freedom, haven't I? Let you think you could run away from me." He pulled back and brushed a strand of hair behind your ear, looking at you with an expression full of love and admiration that quickly turned into one of pity. "You even had the nerve to try and hit me." He laughed in your face while squeezing your throat even tighter.
Your vision started to blur as his grip tightened. Panic surged through you, the fight slipping away, replaced by a cold numbness. Just when you thought you might lose consciousness, he loosened his hold, letting you gasp for air. He dropped you to the floor at his feet, giving you a chance to cough your heart out.
"There, there," he cooed, bending down to your level. "See what happens when you try to run? It's much better when you stay with me, isn't it?"
Tears welled up in your eyes as you raised a defensive hand between you and him. He smiled, admiring your stubbornness. "No need to cry just yet, baby." You opened your mouth to say something when you heard a crack of bones followed by an overwhelming amount of pain surging through your raised hand. Your scream barely reached past your lips before you felt the same sensation in one of your ankles. "That's for trying to hit me... And that's for running away." He stared at you with no emotion whatsoever, watching you cry and scream on the floor while he simply crouched.
Scooped up effortlessly as he carried you away, you realized with a sinking heart that escape was impossible. Satoru Gojo had claimed you, and he wasn't letting go.

Summary: How Cooper got landed with someone of her sunny disposition, he will never now. And it does not help that she knows his films.
“Good morning, you cutie. Oh who’s the best little girl ever?” A feminine voice brought Cooper out of his deep slumber. His eyes had to adjust to the bright light outside that flooded the building they had stayed the night in. He looked around for the source of the noise and was relieved to see it was just his partner playing with DogMeat. The man sat up from the bed that was miraculously in the building that probably used to be someone’s house and began to roll the sleep from his muscles and bones.
“Well, good morning to you, cowpoke.” She greeted, allowing the dog to roam around wherever she pleased.
“Mornin’ sweetheart. Whatcha doin’ up this early?” He asked, swinging his legs over the side of the bed. His boots hit the floor right next to where his partner was, as she sat up on her knees to pull him in close. Physical affection was something Cooper was still not used to after all this time, but he was slowly coming around to it. All of the affection happened behind closed doors, or in this case, a closed house. He still had an image to maintain after all.
“Couldn’t sleep, so I spent some time with Bella.” She said cheerfully into his chest. Cooper just sighed and rubbed his eyes.
“Don’t go naming the thing. Then you’ll get too attached and then you’ll be depressed when it dies.” He groaned out, shifting their bodies so their eyes met.
“But she can’t be named ‘DogMeat’. That’s not a proper name,” came her cry. She laid on the puppy eyes really thick.
“DogMeat is a proper name because that’s what it is.” He argued back, tilting her head up by her chin.
“Fine,” she relented, and smushed her face back into his chest. “What’s on the agenda for today?”
“Well, gotta head into town now. Stock up on some supplies, gather a new bounty hopefully.” Cooper pressed a kiss to her hair, and shuffled so that he could pull both of them up to stand.
“You gonna behave when we get into town?” He drawled, voice leaning into dangerous territory. His partner giggled and nodded her head.
“Of course, Coop. When am I not?” She inquired, biting her lower lip. That woman knew the easiest way to get Cooper riled up was to do just that motion right there. Because, in an instant, his eyes were locked on to her lips.
“What about back in Filly where you kept smilin’ at folks, leaving me to save you from someone’s fist in your face? Huh?” Howard recalled, watching her shift in his arms as she, too, recounted their last adventure into town.
“How was I supposed to know?” Her whimper made Cooper weak, but he had a job to do today.
“Just tone down the sun a little bit, alright? Maybe a nice cloudy day instead of bright ass sunshine.” He offered, bringing her face back up to his. She nodded and stood on her toes to reach his face. Cooperate, ever the gentleman, met her halfway and locked their lips together. They moved as one, letting their lips slide across the other’s. Hands roamed freely, and it was starting to look like they were not going to be making it to town soon. That is, of course, until DogMeat came back in the room with a dead iguana in her mouth. She dropped it on the floor, and pawed at the man and woman who were locked in their embrace. The Ghoul groaned as his partner detached them in favor of tending to the dog he claimed he did not want.
“Good girl. Such a good hunter.” The baby voice was back. Seeing that the dog was getting the attention now, Cooper moved to grab all of his effects from where they were strewn about the room. His duster sat upon his shoulders, while his hat found its spot on his scarred head.
“Come on. Let’s get goin’.” He stated definitely. His saddle bag was slung across his shoulder, and his hand helped navigate his partner through the abandoned house.
They began their trek into town, which thankfully was not too long of a walk. DogMeat followed on the other side of Cooper, hot on his heels. He kept his eyes peeled as they drew further and further into the town. There was a pharmacy, a trader’s hut, several food stalls, and even a mechanics repair shop. Plenty for the two of them. Turning to his partner, he passed her some caps and pointed towards a couple stalls.
“Go get you some dried meat, and get a box of ammunition. Don’t smile so much, alright?” Cooper stressed. She nodded in return and patted his arm as she left with DogMeat.
The Ghoul made his way into the trader’s hut first to find a new bounty that was around. Thankfully, the woman behind the counter had one, and it was simple enough. Someone had not paid her what she was owed, and now she had a hat out on the man. He accepted half of the caps upfront, before moving on to the pharmacy next door. Cooper’s eyes caught his partner and DogMeat traversing the stalls, already having several pouches of meat in her bag.
Which is why he was not afraid to leave her alone while he took his time getting his chems from the pharmacy. Being a ghoul certainly had its drawbacks; the stares, reputation, and fear. But it also held some positives; the stares, reputation, and fear. It certainly helped when acquiring what he needed for a reasonable price. A commotion caught his ears from outside, but he was not afraid that it was his partner.
Until he stepped outside. Cooper saw his partner being crowded against a pile of sheet metal while DogMeat kept barking up a fuss. The dog ran over immediately to the man and began to drag him by his duster over to the woman.
“Come on, sweetheart. Don’t play hard to get.” Some man crept into her space, making her cower down even further. Based on what he could see, and the description the trader gave, this must have been the bounty. She did mention that he tended to go where he pleased like he owned it all.
“Please. Let me go.” She whimpered. Her voice was full of fear and worry, and Cooper was not about to let that stand.
“Everyone’s got a price. I can pay whatever your price is.” He continued, placing his hand on the woman’s waist.
“I do believe the lady asked you to let her go.” Cooper finally made his way over. The man turned around, and smiled with blackened teeth.
“Don’t worry, Ghoul. Once I’m done with her, I’m sure you can have a turn. Certainly don’t wanna do it the other way around.” He laughed, as if what he said was the funniest thing in the world. Cooper began to chuckle lowly as he peeked his eyes out from the lip of his hat. Catching his partner’s eyes, she felt relief as she saw her savior in western gear.
“See, she might be bein’ nice and askin’ you to let her go. But I ain’t that nice. So now I’m tellin’ you to let her go. Now.” Cooper growled, feeling his patience wear thin.
“Or what, Ghoul?” The man never got to hear another response. In a flash, Howard had aimed his gun and fired on his legs. Blowing both of them off, the not-so-tough man now crumbled to the ground, screaming and crying, pleading for the ghoul to have mercy on him.
“Well, ain’t that some shit.” The Ghoul growled, tying a rope around the torso of the man, and began to drag him to the trader’s hut. He focused on the task at hand, knowing that DogMeat would take care of anyone else that had dared get close to her owner.
Walking out of the trader’s hut, Cooper’s eyes scanned the town as he tried to find her partner. He found her, hugging her lugs, stuck in the same place that she was being held. DogMeat was chowing down on the legs that were left. His pocket felt heavy with the weight of the caps, but all that mattered now was taking care of her.
“You alright there, sweetheart?” Howard held a hand out for her to grab onto, and she did. Eagerly shoving her face into his chest and letting out a shaky breath as she processed the events that had just unfolded.
“I’m good. Can we go please?” Her words were muffled in his shirt, but he understood them plenty. Calling for DogMeat, Cooper led the three of them out of the town and into somewhere more secluded. Once they were there, tears fell from her eyes as the weight of what happened fully caught up to her. He set her down on something resembling a chair, and squatted down in front to check her over.
“You saved me.” She whispered, letting her partner do what he needed to do.
“Course I did. What’d you expect? Me to leave you with that man?” He countered with a ridiculous tone.
“It’s like one of your old sheriff films.” Her giggles matched his groan as he dropped his head.
“This ain’t the movies, darlin’.” Cooper looked up at her.
“It’s kinda like the movies.” She replied, wrapping her arms around his shoulders to bring him in close.
“I can always take you back to that town and leave you there.” He stated in her shoulder. She giggled again.
“That’s not very sheriff-y of you.” Every time he thought he had won, she proved him wrong.
“Alright,” he stood up and took her with him, “let’s get moving. Maybe if we’re lucky we can find another house to sleep in.”
“Ooo, do you think we could find one with a television and a few films?” She teased, already walking off away from town. Cooper groaned, but caught up to her and kept her underneath his arm as they walked away from that town.

dad to be!jj taking care of pregnant reader 🤭🤭🤭🤭🤭🤭
You had never felt more helpless before in your life. Everyone who said pregnancy was this magical and wonderful experience was lying.
Well, it was, some days. But when you got about an hour of sleep total the previous night due to the fact that you had to get up to pee every twenty minutes and you could not get comfortable for the life of you, you were miserable.
The sun eventually came up in the morning and you were forced to start your day, which you were not happy about.
You still had so much to get done before the baby got here, and jj had truly been a saint, but he still had to work full time as you had started your leave of absence from work.
On today’s to do list, you had to unpack and organize everything you had gotten for the nursery, as well as set up some of the smaller furniture.
jj left for work around 11 that morning, kissing both you and your belly goodbye, making sure to tell you, “don’t worry if you don’t get anything done. Imma take care of it when I get home.”
Although he truly did mean what he said, the fact that there was a room full of things to do was driving you crazy.
You got to work shortly after he left. All you had gotten done was unpacking a box of bedding and some blankets, and that’s where jj found you hours later when he got home from work, curled up on the floor, a makeshift pillow from one of the blankets below your head as you slept.
“Baby, you okay?” His soft voice brought you back to consciousness, your body aching from laying on the floor for hours, rubbing at your eyes to look at him clearly where he was crouched above you.
It was immediate tears after that. The sight of jj, the countless unpacked boxes still littering the room, no progress done whatsoever.
“Hey, what’s the matter, mama? What’s wrong? Are you hurt?” He brought a hand to your face, his eyes flicking all around your face and body for any sign that you had hurt yourself.
“No, I’m fine,” you cried, attempting to sit up but failing, grateful for jj’s quick reaction time as he grabbed onto your waist and pulled you up so you were sitting upright.
“I just feel so useless. All I did today was sleep, nothing got done, I feel like shit and god fucking damn I have to pee so bad.” You ranted, warm tears spilling down your cheeks as you let it all out.
jj gave you a sad smile, licking his bottom lip as he racked his brain for the right words to say to you. He knew how he felt, but struggled to speak his thoughts, especially with your emotions all over the place.
“Baby, it’s okay. I’m glad you were able to get some sleep, I could feel ya tossing and turning all night,” he spoke softly, his thumb padding at the tears on your cheek, “you’re doing the hardest part of this whole thing, carrying our lil baby inside of you. That’s more than a days work. You gotta let me handle this stuff, it’s what I’m here for.” He added, and honestly his words had you crying even harder. He was right, you knew that, but jj sitting here reassuring you and basically spilling his heart out had your emotions going crazy. He was perfect.
“I love you.” Was all you could say between your sobs, letting your head fall into jj’s warm chest as he held you on the floor of your child’s unfinished nursery.
“I love you, too, baby. It’s all good. I’ll take care of all of it.” He responded, and at that, you lifted your head to shoot him a glare.
“Or… once you get a good nights sleep, we can work on it together, how’s that sound?” He quickly corrected himself, and his words satisfied you, pressing your head back into his chest as he held you.
“I guess that’d be okay.” You said quietly, your sobs turning into sniffles as you gained a little more composure of yourself.
“Alright. Well, I picked us up some food on the way home, for whenever you feel like getting up.” He kissed the top of your head, his hand rubbing gently at your sore back.
You sighed contently, nodding against him before leaning back and holding your hand out towards him, needing help to get up these days.
“That sounds nice,” you hummed, jj taking your hand, his other holding onto your lower back as he hoisted you up to your feet as gently as he could.
“But if I don’t get to the bathroom in the next ten seconds, I am going to fucking piss myself.” You added.
“Yes ma’am.”

Love Thy Neighbor- pt 8
Part 1. Part 2. Part 3. Part 4. Part 5. Part 6. Part 7.
Summary: Melissa is worth it. You know that now.
WC: ~2.2k
“You sleeped without me?!” your daughter looks absolutely enraged, and her voice cracks as she screeches out her question.
“Slept,” the two of you correct quietly.
“I don’t care about your stupid grammar, Momma!” she stomps her foot. “You cuddled with Miss Mel all night while I didn’t! That’s so rude of you, Momma!” She storms out of the room before you can get another word in.
You exhale deeply before throwing the blankets off of you. “I guess I should go talk to her.”
“How’re you feeling?” the redhead asks you quietly. She presses a gentle kiss to your hairline.
“Better,” you tell her honestly. “Not one hundred percent, but I can work today I think.”
She nods before letting you get out of bed. While you expect her to also get out of bed and head for her own apartment to get ready for the school day ahead of all three of you, she follows you into Ellie’s room. Your little girl has thrown herself dramatically on her bed and is sobbing hysterically.
“Oh, good lord,” you grumble to yourself before making your way over to her bed. You pull her into your lap and start rocking back and forth slightly in attempts to soothe her. “Sweet girl, Miss Mel was just helping to take care of me while I was sick. That’s all it was.”
She looks up at you with those big, sweet eyes of hers, tears still streaming down her face. “But you were snuggling without me while I was all alone!”
“Because you were already asleep in bed, hun,” Melissa lays a gentle hand on her back and starts rubbing in small slow circles. “And I was just trying to make sure that your momma was okay after being sick all day.”
Ellie starts crying even harder at that. The two of you look at each other, beyond confused. You thought telling her that Melissa was just taking care of you would help to placate those big feelings she’s having right now.
“Sweetness,” you whisper as you press a kiss to her head. “What’s the matter, my little love?”
Your daughter hiccups out a sob as she looks to her bedside table. You immediately see where her eyes land: on the framed picture of your now broken family. “Daddy used to take care of you when you were sick!”
Your heart breaks in your chest- you know how hard this has been on her, even if she usually is such a happy-go-lucky kind of kid.
You close your eyes and take a deep breath, also trying not to get too upset at her words- because she’s right. Jared used to be so good at taking care of you when you weren’t feeling yourself. You’re quickly brought back to the times when you were pregnant with Ellie, and he was the most doting man that you had ever seen when it came to making sure you were as comfortable as you could be. He had bought various teas to help with the morning sickness, sat with you while you did succumb to the morning sickness, held you during times where you just didn’t feel like you anymore because of your growing and changing body, massaged away a lot of the pain you felt in the later months, and then… when you were in labor with Ellie, the nurses had told him that he was one of the most supportive fathers they had ever seen. But now that was gone. You shake your head and also your thoughts.
“I know, baby,” you whisper, voice cracking just barely. A tear falls down your own cheek. “I know.”
You feel the bed dip under Melissa as she sits down too, and then there’s a warm arm around your waist and the gentlest thumb brushing away your tear. “I’ll leave the two of you, but let me know if there’s anything I can do to help.”
“Stay,” Ellie whimpers. “Please. Please, Miss Mel. Momma and I need you.”
Today, both of you take a half day. Ellie needs all of the love and care that she can get in this fragile state of hers. So you two simply just hold her as the world slowly passes around you. The morning is spent with all of you making a deliciously sleepy breakfast, basking in the warm spring sunlight and air on your back porch. You and Melissa let the warmth of your tea soothe your souls while Ellie quietly sips from her cup of milk before relaxing back into your hold. You let her blow bubbles and dance around through them without a care in the world as you watch. You even go and grab your guitar from the living room before beginning to strum it softly as you let the music take you to another world. You quietly sing the song that your little girl owns- ‘You Are My Sunshine- before shifting to ‘Here Comes The Sun’.
You remember the many times that Jared would sit there and blow as many bubbles as your little girl wanted while she danced through them and popped them, the sweetest little baby giggles erupting from her sweet, sweet soul while music passed through your own. You remember the way that Jared used to watch you and Ellie with such wonder.
But now, you think that those times might be replaced with the warm, soft mornings and days filled with you and the redhead sitting with you hip to hip and just letting the world pass by as you watch the many bubbles fly through the air in such a carefree way. Those old times might be replaced with a beautiful woman who is looking at the two of you like you’re hanging the stars, the sun, and the moon as the sunlight hits her face and hair perfectly to make her look like an angel.
When you walk into the staffroom, Ellie on your hip and clutching a stuffed animal, your coworkers smile at the three of you softly.
“Feelin’ better?” Janine asks Ellie gently. Your little girl nods before tucking her chin into your neck.
“We needed the morning to collect ourselves,” you sigh as you sit down. You thank God that your half-day coincided with lunch, so you have an extra thirty minutes to ground yourself before walking into your classroom. Ellie clearly needs it too as she clings to you for most of the lunch period.
“Alright, little girl,” you whisper when it’s time to go collect your kids. “Time to go spend the afternoon with Mrs. Howard.”
Ellie eyes her teacher before shaking her head and trying to bury herself in your jacket.
“My love, I have to go pick up my kids and teach,” you tell her. “I’m sure Mrs. Howard has a fun afternoon planned, and she wants you to join her.”
Barbara nods and smiles at the six year old, but she still continues to cling.
“Why don’t you walk her down, and I can pick up our kids?” Melissa suggests. Ellie quite likes that idea, so you nod.
“Thank you,” you whisper, setting a gentle hand on her shoulder and squeezing it. You head out with Ellie while the others begin to make their way down to the cafeteria to collect the students.
“So… you had a half day the same day as Y/N?” Barbara raises a brow.
Melissa shrugs. “Ellie needed some extra love this morning.”
“Are you sure nothin’s going on between you and Y/N?” the kindergarten teacher asks.
Melissa smirks. “I won’t say there isn’t nothin’, but there isn’t somethin’ yet either. You know?”
“She’s worth it?” Barbara asks gently.
Without hesitation, the second grade teacher nods. “She’s worth the world, Barb. I plan on giving it to her if she’ll let me.”
“Good,” the kindergarten teacher smiles. “It’s about time you put yourself out there again. And she’s a good one.”
“Her and Ellie have me wrapped around their fingers,” Melissa sighs with a soft shake of her head. The two enter the cafeteria and collect the kids before parting ways for the afternoon.
Your afternoon is easy. Your kids are glad to have you back, claiming that their morning sub was the most boring person they’ve ever met. Before you know it, dismissal is upon you, and you’re leading the kids outside to see them off until tomorrow.
Melissa stands next to you the entire time while you hold your daughter tightly to your body. She helps you gather up all of your things before you head towards her car.
That night, you finish off the soup that Melissa had made, and then you’re curling up on the couch like you usually do. Ellie grips your shirt in her fist as she falls asleep on you, and then you set her in her bed before making your way back out to the living room. Melissa is waiting for you.
“I guess we should talk,” you say softly as you settle in next to her. Your bodies melt together like they were made for each other- something that you had only felt with Jared before.
“Yeah,” she whispers. “Are you okay? After this morning?”
You nod, although the sad look in your eyes tells the redhead differently. “Just… lots of feelings.”
“Do you want to talk about it?”
You tell her all about your marriage- how it had been like a fairytale; how Jared was a handsome and loving man who practically worshipped you. How he doted on you like crazy while you were pregnant with Ellie, and how you were so sure that he was going to be the one you were going to grow old and senile with.
“And then… it wasn’t so magical anymore,” you whisper as you look down at your hands in your lap. “He started coming home later, smelling like other women’s perfume. He stopped kissing me, stopped hugging me. Stopped telling me that he loved me. I found him fucking our babysitter in our own bed while Ellie was down for her nap one day when I came home to grab my lunch.”
“Oh, hun,” Melissa gasps softly.
“I- I was willing to forgive him,” you whisper. “If only for our daughter. But he… he wanted out. Told me that it just wasn’t working for him. He didn’t want to be a father anymore. He left the next week. It’s only been about half a year, and while I hate him more than anything… he was all I knew for a really long time. We started dating when we were in high school. I grew up with him, and it’s taken a lot of time to adjust to life without him.”
“I’m so sorry hun,” the redhead says softly.
You give her a sad smile. “But then we came here, and that all changed.”
“Yeah?”
“You… came into our lives so easily and effortlessly. It’s like you were made to be in our lives,” you admit quietly as you wrap an arm around her waist. “And I- I want to give this a shot if you want to.”
“Nothing would make me happier,” she tells you quietly as she kisses your head again. “Having you and Ellie is the best thing that’s ever happened to me.”
“I just ask that we keep things on the low for a bit… nothing is really going to change other than the fact that we’ll ‘officially’ be dating, but I want to have El warm up to it, and if everyone at work knows… good lord.”
“You know I’m a private person,” she chuckles softly as she tightens her hold on you. “That’s just fine with me… although Barbara has already been asking, so we should probably tell her.”
“That’s okay,” you laugh quietly. “I know she’s your best friend. Will she be okay with it though- Mrs. Barbara Howard, woman of God?”
“You know that woman has practically adopted Jacob at this point,” the redhead rolls her eyes. “She actually told me to go for it with you- that you’re good for me.”
Your jaw drops open slightly. You knew Barbara thought you were a good teacher, and a relatively decent single mother, but to be good enough for her best friend; her work wife? Wow.
“Don’t act like Barb doesn’t love having you and Ellie around- she’ll be Aunt Barb by the end of the summer if she can help it,” Melissa chuckles.
“You think we’ll still be together by the end of the summer?” you ask quietly, nervously.
She shrugs. “We’ve practically been dating since I started making you dinner anyway… you’ve always been my girl, even if you didn’t know it.”
“Melissa Schemmenti’s girl,” you whisper, a shy grin dancing across your lips.
That night, Melissa spends the night again, although Ellie is sandwiched between the two of you. She presses a soft kiss to your daughter’s hairline before pecking your lips sweetly.
You know the two of you have a long way to go… but this one love story just might be worth all the risks in the world, and you were willing to take the leap for Melissa.
