"Viking? Mrx. Sizukie made breakfast." "..." "c'mon... It's eggs, you like those?"
"hey buddy," "go away legundo.." "I can't do that bud."
"did you get any sleep?" "...no" "yeah..uh. yeah, me neither."
"you neither?" "Yeah, I didn't realize how much I'd like. Like I started thinking, like, if I went by myself."
Tumblr media
"and like, it was fine. I'm more efficient. I'm faster, I don't need to hunt as much. Honestly I might've already made it, probably. I'd definitely get in liss trouble, that's for sure."
"are you trying to make me feel worse??" "Haha, no, hold on."
"what I'm tryina say, is that I'd never-"
"-ever. Want to."
Tumblr media
"hey guys? Everything ok in here? Eggs are getting cold."
"oh! Hehe, silly boys.."
"here lemme help. Momma's gotta do everything around here, huh?"
"how y'all aren't cold I'll never know. Hah..hybrids."

Mimirs. Eepy time.
In honor of pig!viking two releasing today I finished this up faster than I intended. The brain rot has me by the THROAT
Ok buckle up I have so much to say, ok
First of all, mrx sizukie, what kind of a name is that? The kind of name when you've been following a neon orange Suzuki down the freeway for like 4 hours. Also I like to imagine that pigs don't have Mr and Mrs but just, everyone uses mx and mrx because I think ? Idk they're not human why would they have human honorifics. I'm not calling ppl who use mx or mrx non human btw, u get what I mean
Second of all, eggs? Yeah, eggs. Baby zombie piglins spawn with chickens sometimes, so. So there ya go, they have chickens, idk man.
Third of all? I let them hug, that's right!! Hug it out you emotionally unavailable pig boys!! Comfort piglin head grab and bonk also both made an appearance, hope ur happy with that. I like to think that whenever piglins go to sleep their body temperature drops so that's why they sleep in piles, and is also why they got a lil blankie :)
Also I didn't talk about the backpack last time but they've got a notebook in there! (It's vikings, it's all his notes on how to be a pig. He's learning the language in there, his handwriting is terrible.)
Also when legs flops on the bed and traps vikings legs? Did anyone else's dad do this when there was a Talk to be had? Just like sit on ur feet so u can't escape? Well mine did so that's what that's about.
I made sure to add a lot of "like" and "yeah" cause if you've ever had a Conversation then u know that those nothing words are EVERYWHERE
But yeah, legs realizes how much he'd miss viking if he wasn't around and is like "aw balls this kid is my brother"
I was drawing the last panel, the shaded one, and I was like, "am I a furry artist?" So, let's all think about that for a sec. I mean like kinda, right?"
Hi @amberstormblade ily /platonic ur writing is my absolute favorite and part two is making my synapses FIRE

how fast after the mahoyo PC launch do you think we'll see a mod changing all instances of "soujyuro sizuki" to "soujuurou shizuki"
Immediately.
Putting it on PC means I can fix the damn script myself (if no one else is doing it) and correct all those annoying typos that got to see release and maybe change Soujyuro back to Soujuurou as soon as someone else figures out which file to edit
There's one part too during the fight in the park where Aniplex deleted an entire sentence by accident (the one that starts "From the" and then deletes the rest of the sentence) I'll need to look up the original page and then pay someone to translate it so I know what's actually missing but I want to fix that too.

mahoyo! spoilers under the cut
tldr, mahoyo is really really good. if you’re a fan of any of type moon’s works, you’ll enjoy it immensely. buy it NOW.
i’ll preface this with my thoughts on the more broader aspects that appeal to Me As A Reader, before i go into the story. the overall translation felt really good. it was completely in line with the lingo i’m aware of from type moon’s usual works, and they did a really good job actually skirting around honorifics (and the dreaded Big Sis translation). obviously many words can be said about Sizuki and Yamasiro, but that’s beside the point.
the big issue is really with proofreading. there’s a lot of typos and other issues, which i’ll say is a result of the simultaneous release and a rushed schedule. i think these are easily fixed, but i dont think it ruins the overall experience that much. that being said:
i enjoyed it! while not my favorite due to its overall lighter tone, it still set out what it Wanted To Do. mahoyo was nasu’s first work, and he used it to get into the heart of his universe: mages. does it do a good job at this? id say Yeah. i think that it gets a little overzealous with explanations, but thats why soujyuro’s there. it explains the things you Need to know, and allows you to get yourself into the world.
on soujyuro, the characters are honestly some of nasu’s best just in terms of charm. every side character makes themself really visible despite the small cast, and it leads to you really enjoying the plethora of side moments the story gives you inbetween the main points. the one about soujyuro possibly working at a scam job is probably my favorite, just because of how it culminates all those characters into one scenario, and it ends on a really good note too there.
aoko as a protagonist is a joy. i’m always a sucker for Mean Women, and her character is really interesting after reading tsukihime, where she’s only caring to the one person in front of her. hell, even in her melty blood story modes, she’s still a little mean but in the way that’s kind at first glance. seeing her be Unabashedly An Asshole, especially when touko’s existence and personality stayed pretty much the same 9 years later in kara no kyoukai. the fact that you get to visibly see some of that kindness of dealing with soujyuro begin here to finally get to the end point of tsukihime is so cool, and really shows that nasu put care into that aspect.
alice was also a surprise favorite. her abilities are rad as hell (though, im still a little confused at aoko having called them Magic.) and the reveal at the end was such a big surprise i dont even wanna say it just in case someone’s reading this and Hasn’t Read It. her and aoko in the aquarium was a really good scene as well (insert joke about yuri aquariums) and her friendship with aoko is so fun to watch considering their Weird Circumstance Of Being Mages Who Will Kill Eachother. it ends up for a really enjoyable dichotomy and i like her a lot. Transgender i think
soujyuo. i dont know why i thought i wouldn’t be too interested in him but he grew on me FAST. his cute little expressions and his super upbeat personality led to him being Really Fucking Good. i’m super interested in his backstory as well, his life in the mountains being taken away after his father(?) died and soujyuro asked about why they were there. knowing how he’s a precursor to all of the other tm protagonists makes me think he was being trained in demon hunting or otherwise a la the nanaya, which would be a very interesting backstory for him.
on the lore side, i can’t say much due to how much i knew going in. however, seeing The Counter Force be against true magic makes sense and was cool for me to connect the dots on, even if the novel itself doesnt follow up on it and you’re just supposed to Know if you’ve read or will read stay night. its fun. i mentioned it before but it was a little funny to have alice cut off aoko before she could talk about all the true magics in detail. we will never know anything about the first or fourth.
it’s pacing felt a little fast. i really did want to spend more time with these characters and it felt like it ended fairly quickly at the end. i think the action doesnt rise as much as it could. i think that may also be an issue of Knowing Touko And Aoko Get Out Fine At The End, which i did get pretty worried for soujyuro at the end there but in a twist that was actually pretty out of left field for how i know nasus stories going, the whole kuonji estate gets to stick together after the fact. overall i think i still enjoy knk and tsukihime over it, but i think it has a broader appeal.
as a final note, koyama’s art style is an absolute wonder to look at. the personality he puts into his artwork is really strong, and all the expressions and such were absolutely amazing. its hard for me to say whether i prefer his art to the combination work him and takeuchi do for kagetsu tohya onward, it’s a nice change of pace. the backgrounds especially had me constantly in awe, especially the sweeping shots of misaki’s hills, it was incredible to look at every second of the way.
really, all i can say is type-moon is amazing as usual. and i really, really cant wait for not only red garden, but any future vns they put out (obviously the mahoyo trilogy, but… i do wanna see some new ips from nasu. it’s been since technically fate since we’ve gotten a whole new cast of characters from him)

Why I F***ing Love: Professional Wrestling
In many ways my relationship with professional wrestling is the opppsite of most. When I was a kid, I never had any interest in wrestling. I saw bits and pieces here and there, but I was never taken with it because I thought, like everything else on TV that wasn't news, that it was all faked. Plus I was more taken with cartoons than anything else (still am, too!)
But then in 2015 a college roommate of mine got me to watch Wrestlemania 31 with him when it was on, and within a week I went from not caring to being interested, and within a month I was hooked.
Now here I am almost three years on. Last week I took the first real step in expanding beyond WWE and watched New Japan Pro Wrestling's Wrestle Kingdom event. I was glued to my chair for almost six hours watching grown men best the crap out of one another, yet I was completely sucked into the drama, particularly the excellent double main events. This is not to say that I all of a sudden believe it's real. Far from it - I acknowledge that pro wrestling IS fictional and it's disingenuous to say otherwise. But after immersing myself in wrestling's history via memoirs and biographies, I enjoy it as I do any fictional drama. Pro wrestling, no matter what the promotion, has the elements of any dramatic story, namely characters and plotlines, along with a sense of grand spectacle and whacky oddities. This is not to say that wrestling is, Shakespeare, far from it. But I enjoy it equally for the camp as well as for the genuinely immersive moments.
Nowadays my obsessive fervor has dimmed somewhat. I no longer watch weekly WWE television, and mostly stick to watching the pay per view events. WWE’s style of storytelling is a bit strange at times, generally because they fill five hours of TV time every week. I don't have the time for that in my life unfortunately, and keep up via weekly recaps and highlights posted on YouTube. Pay per views are what I actually sit down and watch, as often those shows have the best matches on them, and are almost all matches rather than splits between a few middle of the road matches and plot advancement that can be tedious to sit through. That's not to say WWE is bad. Sometimes they hit it out of the park (Usos versus New Day from this past year comes to mind), and sometimes they don't, same as any other storytelling.
But watching Wrestle Kingdom after work on Thursday after avoiding spoilers all day, I was spellbound. It was my first time seeing many of the people on the roster work a match, and I gained a bunch of new names to watch. I knew of Okada, Naito, Omega, Jericho, and the Young Bucks, but they were about it. I gained an immense amount of interest in War Machine, Kota Ibushi, both Minoru Sizuki and Hirooki Goto, every single guy in the Junior Heavyweight 4-Way, as well as Hiroshi Tanahashi. I feel as though far too often most people think that they have to make arbitrary rankings in their heads, and commit their love to one thing or the next. Just...enjoy everything? I mean if you want to have everything in a nest orderly list of what is best I’m not going to stop you, but I personally like to put everything into a big Venn diagram of “things I like” and “things I don't like.”
I enjoy wrestling mainly for the physicality of it, the same way you enjoy a stunt show at a theme park. It’s campy for sure, but that’s never been a disqualifier for me. The thing I would consider it most akin to is actually superhero comics - these men and women who condition their bodies above and beyond and work hard to beat the crap out of each other while also not beating the crap out of each other. I actually enjoyed watching more after reading many books about the business and being able to peek under the hood of matches and see how certain moves are executed safely. (Unless you’re in Japan - they work stiff as hell over there.)
No actual sporting event has ever had me as invested as much as watching Okada and Naito walk to the ring for the main event of Wrestle Kingdom 12. It seems ironic that the “sport” that’s not really a sport and the outcome is predetermined entices me more than the actual sport where the result is up in the air for the get go. The explanation for that probably lies somewhere in my love of fiction - I know the two guys in the ring are trying to tell a story, and I can simply sit back and enjoy that story unfolding in front of me.
I feel like it also lies in my love of things outside the mainstream, and wrestling has fallen out of the mainstream hard from the vaunted WWE Attitude Era of the late 90s. Which is a disappointment, because there’s a lot of good things going on there right now, as well as in many other promotions the world over. Look them up and give it a try - the barrier of entry for WWE at least is very easy. They constantly offer free months of their Network, and if you don’t like what you see, you can just drop it. Beyond that, there are plenty of ways to watch, and I highly encourage everyone to try it. It’ll make a lot of the references I make make sense, if nothing else.~
