Goodbye To The Rookie
I’ve been putting this off, but it is what it is and it’s not going to change. My “break” from The Rookie is permanent. I will not be coming back to the show even if/when Lucy and Tim get back together. After hearing and seeing stuff about the finale and seeing snippets from the post-finale interviews, I have no desire to watch the show again. Nothing about the teases they gave sound exciting and interesting to me. If anything, those interviews made it easier for me to give the show altogether. Especially knowing that in one of the interviews, Alexi basically said he broke Tim and Lucy up purely for drama sake and because “the fans” wanted them to go back to the “will they/won’t they” stage. I don’t know who those “fans” are, but I’m definitely not one of them and did not ask for that. And honestly, I hate when shows pull the “create drama for the sake of drama” card. It cheapens the characters for me and turns me off the shows completely faster than anything else.
That said, I do know there are fans who did not want the breakup, but are excited for another slow burn build up (now that Tim and Lucy are back at square one) because they really enjoyed it the first time around. I’m not one of them. I did not find it that exciting and enjoyable. I’m glad I didn’t find the show until Season 3, but I hated what they did in Season 4. So knowing that, there’s no way I’m going to sit there and watch them, in Lucy’s words: Rinse. Wash. Repeat. I also feel like Alexi and the writers are playing Russian Roulette by doing what they did, given the show is not only going into Season 7, but also not back until January. It will be interesting to see how many fans do come back after 8 months and stay after the premiere.
Lastly, I realized a few hours ago (on my birthday of all days), I don’t feel anything for Chenford anymore. A reaction video to the Valentine’s episode from last season popped up on my TikTok FYP and I didn’t feel giddy, happy, mad, or sad. Knowing this doesn’t change my decision to stop watching because I still hate what they did to Tim’s character and I would just be angry seeing him and watching the show. Not to mention, I feel everything in Season 5 was for nothing and that makes me even angrier. As I said a few days ago on Twitter, I wish the universe would do what the writers did with Tim’s character and completely erase Season 6 so it never existed.
To the Chenford and Rookie fandom, thank you for welcoming me and interacting with me over the last year and a half. It’s been a joy and so much fun! I hope we can still be friends. 🙂

Welcome to the Chenford Fandom!
What's ur favourite Chenford parallel?
I’m Excited to be here! Thank you! 😊
The parallel that comes to mind at the moment is….
Season 4- Hugs
This is the most physical contact I think we’ve seen them have, outside of 2x11, and before the kiss. I believe Tim started feeling things for Lucy in season 1, and was unconsciously in love with her by season 3. In 3x14, he was beginning to allow himself to openly feel things for Lucy ( elevator look), (If circumstances were different we might have seen them canon early season 4).
In 4x01, those feelings carried into this moment. Their emotions are so heightened. Maybe a little bit of adrenaline played a part. Tim clearly wanted to kiss her, but knew it wasn’t the right time. I really don’t know how he was able to stop himself. Lucy’s reaction, I think, like some others have said, was her coming to the realization that Tim may have feelings for her. I think prior to that, the thought of having something more with Tim, may have crossed her mind, but she knew she couldn’t go there, because of how it ended with Nolan 🤮, and maybe she thought Tim would NEVER cross that line! I think she dismissed her feelings, and tried to keep them at bay, as much as possible, but there are signs/ moments that show it isn’t working. I think once Tim became Sergeant, he also reverted back to setting boundaries to their relationship and closed himself off to the possibility of something more with her, hence him jumping into a relationship with Ashley. Anyway, the tension and chemistry in this scene is so palpable. My heart was in my stomach, and I still get butterflies. This is one of my favorite scenes, it makes my top 5.
In 4x09, I am so glad Tim chose Lucy to be there with him for emotional support, instead of his so called “GF”. When Tim comes out of the room, his guards are down. He is looks so fragile/broken. He wants her to know the Tim Test comment, earlier in the episode, affected him, and it stayed with him for at least a day or two. That speaks volumes. What she thinks/feels about him matters. The way she knew he needed a hug, her reassurance, how he melts into her, and how she tightens her hold ❤️❤️❤️. This moment propels them to a new level in their working/ non working relationship. Side note: I wonder why he disassociates/ downplays their relationship when he is talking about Lucy to other people (not his partner/ not his friend). Is that his way of protecting her/ their relationship or is it a defense mechanism?
Bonus- A parallel I am hoping to see in season 5, is Lucy doing whatever she has to, to save Tim. Give me all of the 2x11 moments in reverse.

With this last ep, I feel like we got back the Chenford we all fell in love with to begin with. The old, compassionate and supportive Lucy returned. Tim had some of his grittiness again. This ep reminded me of the good old days back in S1 and S2. Alexi needs to write more episodes!
I’m hoping the writers keep it like that. For once, I’m happy they’re being obvious where it’s going coming up 🤣🤣🤣
You are so right!!
It is deeply ironic that the best Chenford all season is at the hands of Alexi, who in interviews and online seems so resistant to them.
We saw so much of the Tim that I fell in love with in 4x09 - it was a nice refresher! I think over the first part of season 4 there has been a lot of Eric infused in Tim, which has made the character less compelling and interesting for me. Tim as a character can still be lovable and kind, sweet even, while he maintains his prickly edges and stoicism. There was also the return of Lucy - she in was as intuitive and compassionate as we remember her - and not glib, or joking as has been her role in season 4.
This puts us in a bit of a sticky wicket - because it pulls us back in! And it reminds us of what we loved in the first place.
Like you, I hope this continues! I hope that somehow the writers recapture the magic that I have been missing these last 7 out of 9 episodes. If you have felt the magic the magic the whole time, good for you, if you saw it again in 4x09 - welcome back! If you are still uncertain, you are valid in your feelings!
Come back and talk to me after tonights episode!
