still thinking about this actually. the story itself blaming sun for something which is absolutely not her fault, to the point where she later blames herself too, even though she originally (correctly) insists she’s purely the victim… even just how the sentiment changes so much from “the lamb on a self-made altar” to “the self-made lamb” and it’s the second which really is more accurate. and the way she was brought there because of someone named pyre (spelled piyr But Like)??? and she has to worry the whole time she’s there that her absence will be taken as proof of her death meaning the peace she’s working so hard to get is going to be thrown entirely out the window and it’s not her fault but it IS for making herself so important but it was her suffering that did that… self made lamb on a self made altar indeed, but she’s never been the one holding the knife to her throat.

accidental symbolism is crazy years ago i had a dream where i wrote a poem about getting sacrificed and woke up only remembering a few disjointed lines from it (blood spilling out like wine from a tipped goblet / poisoned and weak, the lamb on a self-made altar) & then more recently grabbed one of those lines to butcher into a wip title (the self-made lamb). only it was for the au where sun gets isekaied into wings world & i just realized the name implies it's her fault and that's soooo. forever the scapegoat even as the sacrificial lamb...
