Odasaku, Sasaki, and the orphanage headmaster are all buried in the same cemetery.
So Kunikida, Atsushi, and Dazai all run into each other grave visiting regularly and politely pretend they donât. They never acknowledge the meaning behind the bouquets brought, even if all of them know the others know flower language. They never acknowledge the tear streaks down Atsushiâs face, or the solemn look on Kunikidaâs. Atsushi never points out how the scent of whiskey is always a bit stronger on Dazaiâs coat. They never acknowledge the location of their accidental meetings.
Sometimes Kunikida might offer to take them to get food, or Atsushi will offer a random hard candy from his pocket, on colder days Dazai might lend his coat. None of them are really themselves when faced with grief, and none of them will to hold it against each other.

The trip started as any other normal one. It was the first time the two of you were visiting your boyfriend, Hyunjinâs, parents, who lived in a small house in a quaint countryside village. He had taken off the entire weekend from work so that you guys could spend an ample amount of time exploring his hometown. The train that Hyunjin had booked for the two of you was nice enough - with amazing window seats that had a great viewpoint of the passing nature.Â
With his parents living quite far away from Seoul, the trip was well over four hours.Â
And not even thirty minutes into the ride, Hyunjin started to feel shitty.Â
Like every time before - the curse of trip sickness continued to follow you guys. Because it seemed like on every trip that you took together, either one of you - or, worse, sometimes both of you - came down with some form of sickness. The flu, strep throat, it seemed like you two had had it all.Â
But motion sickness was an entirely new one, which is what you chalked up your boyfriendâs symptoms to be. He wasnât the best at traveling on moving things - but especially cars - so it was expected that heâd feel sick on a train that was going even faster than your average automobile.Â
âBaby- you donât look so wellâŚâ You began in a quiet voice, reaching over in your seat to squeeze one of his knees.Â
Hyunjin was hunched over in his chair, both arms wrapped around his waist as the trainâs movement rocked him back and forth - side to side. His eyes were screwed shut, and the tight lock that his jaw was in seemed downright painful.Â
He looked up at you then, eyes a little bloodshot and his face a pasty colour, âNo- Iâm fine. Itâs justâŚÂ motion sickness.â He said, trying to give you a reassuring smile. But it came out all wrong, seeming almost agonizing for him to conjure up.Â
âYou know, if you want to get off at the next stop, we can,â you started, eyes tearing away from your boyfriendâs crumpled form and peering out the window. The cityscape was long gone and was instead replaced with fields upon fields of grassy farmland and small villages nestled beside towering mountains. âIâm sure youâre parents would understand if weâre a day late- we can find a hotel in a nearby town and-â
âNo.â Hyunjin ground out in a stern tone, making you whip your head around to stare at him as he frowned your way. âWeâre not arriving late just because I- I have a weak stomach. I can make it- we only haveâŚâ With a glance at the small screen just underneath the window that continually flashed your arrival time, he nodded slowly. âAn hour left.âÂ
You shrugged slowly, offering him a tiny smile. âOkay, well if youâre sure you can make it in one piece.âÂ
 âI'm positive.âÂ
When the silence lapsed between the two of you, you moved over to his chair, nestling into the corner beside him and grabbing onto one of his hands. It was warm and clammy to the touch as you squeezed your fingers between his. âI just donât want you to push yourself too much, yeah? Youâve been going nonstop with the schedules since the new year.â
Hyunjin gave you that look, the one that he always used when you were 'babying him too much.' Although he liked to play the role of being a soft and pliable man in Stray Kids, when he was alone with you, he was just the opposite. He hated when you doted on him too much because he always claimed that that was his job. Hence, why he always loathed getting sick in any way.Â
So your boyfriend leaned into your space and pressed a chaste kiss against your temple. âDonât worry, darling. Iâm gonna be fine.âÂ
But it seemed like his body had a mind of its own because exactly as those words left his mouth, he was shooting up from his seat beside you.
âWhatâs wrong?â You asked, concern laden in your voice as you watched him frantically clamp a palm over his mouth. His face was suddenly green-looking.Â
âB-Bathroom-â He only managed to say, before he was sliding the door to your seats open and ran down the hallway of the train.Â
Sucking in a deep breath, you shoved your head against the back of your seat and closed your eyes in exhaustion.
Because it sure was going to be a long hour ahead.Â
Much to your surprise, Hyunjinâs condition only worsened once you arrived at his parentâs house. He was nearly doubled over in misery by the time you guys landed on his childhood houseâs doorstep, and the moment his mother caught sight of her sickened son, she was ushering the two of you in hastily.
In no time at all, she had some chicken-and-rice porridge cooked and was serving it to the two of you. Hyunjin ate in silence, bent over the kitchen table, spooning up the thin soup in small bites. His mother was sitting with you guys as you ate, while his father was still out at work.Â
You frowned at Hyunjin before your gaze met his motherâs. âI told him we shouldâve waited a day and stopped at a nearby hotel on the way in. But no- he just wanted to get here today.âÂ
She chuckled softly at that, âThatâs my Hyunjin⌠doesnât want to be late to anything if he can help it. And besides, Iâm glad you didnât because Iâm the best person to take care of him.â Her eyes - which were so similar to your boyfriendâs chestnut brown ones - flicked to him across the table. She offered him a gentle smile, cooing quietly in motherly admiration. âIsnât that right, my little Jinnie? Your mama is the best at nursing you back to health.âÂ
Hyunjin abruptly pushed his bowl of porridge away from him, eyes alight with a certain kind of fire as they darted between the two of you. âI-I feel sick again.â He said in a low, gravelly voice. He slumped over in his chair, seemingly too exhausted to hold up his head for another second.Â
And in tandem, both you and his mother were rising from your chairs. While you wrapped two arms around your boyfriend to hoist him up from his seat, his mother was busy clearing the table.Â
âBring him into his bedroom- itâs just off to the left of the family room,â his mother instructed, quickly rinsing out the bowls of porridge in the sink. You nodded in silence, beginning to make the trek through the house to Hyunjinâs bedroom.Â
He leaned his entire weight against you, and it was a struggle to walk down the hall as you carried his lengthy body the whole way. Hyunjin groaned desperately, and you noticed the small beads of sweat beginning to race down his temples from his hairline.Â
Hyunjin was delirious with his discomfort, so once you got him situated on his bed, he all but curled up into the thick duvet coverlets, nuzzling his head into the downy pillows. His room was medium in size, and you noticed the small sleeping bag that was set up just beside his bed - where you supposed his parents expected you to sleep since there was no guest bedroom in the house. Still, they mustâve been very naive if they thought that youâd take the floor over sleeping in the same bed as your boyfriend. After all, the two of you had been living together for well over a year.Â
âThat doesnât look like motion sickness to me,â you heard his mother say in a quiet voice from behind you. You turned on your heels then, raising a skeptical eyebrow her way. And immediately, you could see the worry dawn across her face - by the way her jaw tightened slightly and her eyes darkened. âMotion sickness doesnât last this long after getting on stable ground.âÂ
You peered back at your boyfriend, who was now tossing and turning atop the bed. He was moaning lowly in his frenzy, eyes screwed shut, almost like opening them physically hurt him. And just seeing him that way - seeing the love of your life - so distraught, caused something anxious and pained to rattle deep inside of you.Â
âSo what do you think it is, then?âÂ
âIf I had to guess- probably a stomach bug.âÂ
You watched in silence, as Hyunjinâs mother strode over to the nearby window and flipped the shades closed. Then, she hovered over the nightstand that was just beside his bed and switched on the faint light there. It cast a warm glow across the walls of the room and painted Hyunjinâs writhing, ghostly-white form in a frail kind of way.Â
âDo you know what he ate before traveling today?â His mother asked as she was already pressing a palm against his forehead. His face was flushed with crimson, his cheeks rosy with sweat.Â
âI think it was one of those bento lunches- we picked some up at the local convenience store before leaving for the station.âÂ
She gave a deep sigh then, shaking her head slowly. âThatâll do it⌠some of those pre-made lunches are notorious for being expired. I always warned him not to eat that crap.âÂ
âHeâll be okay though, right?â You could feel the panic rising inside of you, speeding up your heart and forcing it to pound against your ribcage. Because you had never seen him like this - in such misery. Usually, whenever he was sick, it only lasted for a few days at most and was the common cold or on very rare occasion, the flu. But this? Flailing around the bed in distress? With skin colour close to that of a phantom? It was all something youâd never seen before from him.
âMhm- these stomach bugs usually only last a day or two, and heâs had them before. The best thing to do is to let him rest and continually monitor his condition,â his mother grabbed a blanket and gently tucked it around his form. âHeâs running a fever, so weâll probably have to stay up for most of the night to help him break it.âÂ
You had been frozen near the doorway for so long since you didnât know what to do. But finally, upon hearing her words, you were flitting over to Hyunjinâs side. You ran a few fingers through his silky black locks, noticing how warm he was. The heat seemed to radiate off of his entire body, prodding hopelessly at that anxiousness inside of you.Â
âIâll go grab some cold cloths and water, so you just keep an eye on him, okay?â His mother bent over the bed then, giving one of your shoulders a delicate pat. You stared up at her with wide eyes, a lump starting to form in your throat at the sight of your boyfriend being in so much despair from a mere stomach bug. âHeâs gonna be okay, sweetheart.âÂ
Then, she was off to get the supplies and you were left to watch over your boyfriend. You scooted his body a little bit to the side and sat down on the bed next to him. The mattress was a full size, and could easily fit the two of you comfortably.
You pressed a palm to one of his cheeks, sweeping a gentle thumb across his damp skin there. âItâll be alright, babe⌠Iâm right hereâŚâ You said in a whisper to him. But if you were being honest, the words were more for you than anything else. They helped to calm that racing part in your mind, and all at once, your focus honed in on one thing only - just taking care of your boyfriend and nursing him back to health as quickly as you could.Â
Hyunjinâs fever broke sometime in the middle of the night. You and his mother had been tirelessly working all night to help him combat the pain - what with all of the cold washcloths and helping him stumble to the bathroom every time he felt the urge to vomit. After a while, nothing came up in the toilet bowl. Even still, it was like his stomach hated him, and just wanted to try and toss out every last ounce of liquid he had left inside of his body. As a result, you and his mother decided to refrain from giving him any liquid until the vomiting completely stopped.Â
After the clock struck one a.m., you assured his mother that you could handle him for the rest of the night. And after convincing her despite her many protests, she finally made her way to bed. You didnât want to admit that you were exhausted yourself, but you knew that he needed you at that moment. Even if he wasnât self-aware enough to know who was helping him through the hurt.Â
But with the break of the fever, also came the clearing of his head. And suddenly, your boyfriend was wide awake at three in the morning. He was still weak in the limbs, so he abated your wishes to stay in bed until at least seven.
âThank you, darling,â he whispered to you late that night. You had turned off the roomâs single light, leaving you in complete darkness save for the faint glow of the street lamp that shined through the windowâs curtains. âYouâve taken such good care of me.âÂ
You gave him a faint smile, even though he couldnât see it in the dim of the bedroom. âYeah- of course, Iâm always gonna take care of you, Jinnie. Even if Iâm on my fucking deathbed, Iâll be nursing you back to health if thatâs what you need.âÂ
He let out a faint chuckle at that before he was shifting on the bed and nearing you. After his mother had finally left, you had decided to curl up next to your boyfriend for the remainder of the night. Because to hell with that stupid sleeping bag. Â
âYou sleepy, baby?â Hyunjin mused. You felt his nimble fingers reach up toward your face and tuck a few strands of your messy hair behind one of your ears.Â
âY-YeahâŚâ You mumbled, voice growing faint as the shadows around you began to slowly soothe you to sleep. The sound of Hyunjinâs steady breathing right next to you, and the feel of his fingers brushing through your locks, helped usher you further into the twilight of slumber.
âYou can sleep now, lovely, itâs okay.âÂ
âB-But I wanna be awake in case you-â
He grunted out a laugh at that, âDonât worry about me, Iâm fine now.âÂ
âStill, I promised your mom that Iâd nurse you completely back to health.âÂ
The plush mattress dipped underneath you then, and suddenly, you felt warm lips land against your forehead. Pressing a whispery kiss to the skin there, Hyunjin moved ever so slightly, so that his lips were ghosting over the shell of your ear. âAnd what if I said that just laying beside you like this has already nursed me back to full health?âÂ
You cracked your eyes open, trying to find his eyes in the swarthiness of the room. Instead, you were met with an ink splotch of a face and the distinct outline of a proud shoulder.Â
âI still donât w-want toâŚâ you began, but you could feel yourself nodding off - your eyes grew heavy and drooped low, mouth parting slightly in a deep sigh.Â
âI swear to fuck- if you donât go to sleep this instant, Iâm really gonna lose it. And not in the stomach-bug kind of way.â Hyunjin said, his voice a little sterner this time than before.Â
That got you giggling, as you tried to keep your voice down so that you didnât wake his parents that were just across the hallway. âOkay, okay- Iâll go to sleep.âÂ
 âThatâs my girl.âÂ
And at that moment, you thanked the stars above that the bedroom was too dark for either of you to see anything - else, Hyunjin would start teasing you about the furious blush that crept up your neck and pooled in the tips of your ears and cheeks at his words alone.Â
Because yes, you were his girl.Â
And you always loved it when he made a point of that.Â
âGoodnight, my JinnieâŚâ Your voice trailed off, as you finally allowed yourself to relax down into the thick duvet that was all around you, muscles nearly melting into dreamland.Â
One of Hyunjin's long arms wrapped around your waist then, and he pulled you close to him, burying your face into his warm chest. âNight, my beautiful, magnificent girl."
Fin.

Ok so now that I have time to collect my very important and profound thoughts and also take in everyone else's reactions (which is what I normally do, I am a scientist who observes above all else before scribbling down my nonsense ramblings /lh) , chapter 8 of glass divine let's gooo
The Las Nevadas guys!! Seeing Purpled just in the bg made me so happy. I always get so hyped whenever he appears in any fic I read, even if he appears for (1) scene. What a guy, what a fella.
Quackity is great, as always. The Pythia's Prophecy drink rlly does sound like something that would exist in this universe, it's such a fun silly concept to me. I kinda want to try it lol.
His conversation with Wilbur is rlly neat and it's great to see Wilbur's narrow world view being slowly expanded bit by bit each chapter, this time by introducing him to the magical concept of agnostic people.
The subtle foreshadowing with the glass and 'card reader' and the growing sense of "ayo smth's not right with that" but not knowing exactly what is so well done!!! Ahhh I love your writing sm.
AND THE BIRD IN THE CAGE, IN WILBUR'S RIBCAGE BEING THE EXTENDED METAPHOR IN THIS STORY IS SO COOL. FUCK I LOVE METAPHORS SO MUCH YOU GET SO CREATIVE WITH THEM I JUST KAVSKSBJSV
An idea I have in my head of the bird almost being like a phoenix, being reborn with each new Pythia and being broken down every single time from a symbol of strength and resilience to just being a pretty bird in a cage to be admired but not for what it actually could be because that was stripped away from it, only for the idea of it and for people to constantly poke at it with a stick but not truly hearing it or seeing its pain or it for its worth I just wahhhh.
But I can't avoid the elephant in the room anymore lol. Tommy's reveal at the end, here we go.
I have mixed feelings about it because of the beauty of grey morality in characters. Wilbur has been nothing but a massive asshole to Tommy and the other Deathlings since he got there, which is very justified, I'm not trying to say it wasn't he was kidnapped lol. Wilbur also tried to kill Tommy like not even two weeks ago, the two aren't really comparable.
We see the story through Wilbur's eyes, we get an insight into him that Tommy will never get because as emotional intelligent and observant as Tommy is, he is not psychic and he is 18 years old. He does not have the greatest critical thinking skills in the world when it comes to things like this. In his head, the means justifies the end.
Is this going to cause Wilbur a massive amount of stress? Yes, of course it will. His identity was stripped away and he's been like this for like more than a decade, Tommy is trying to make progress at undoing a process that has done undeniable damage to Wilbur's psyche. However Wilbur's perception of this is of course going to be horribly skewed and he's not going to see Tommy's good intentions behind this right now; he's only going to see it as a massive 'betrayal' (I use that v loosely, he destroyed whaf little trust they had w that murder attempt) from Tommy and is going to be extremely bitter about it and his narration of this event is going to affect our view of it because we only see it through Wilbur's eyes and his processing of this, we don't see Tommy's anxiety leading up to this or his thought process on *why* he's doing this. We go off observations, theories and what Tommy himself tells us, we don't have a direct line into his brain like we do Wilbur.
This is a necessary evil in Wilbur's healing process because you can't exactly gently nudge Wilbur in the way healing forever, especially with how harshly he's been responding to any sort of criticism of the Pythia traditions and his role. They don't know if he ever will go there himself and you can't do anything new or heal if you don't push yourself or in this case, have the teenager who you tried to murder push you there.
And the disrespecting religion argument isn't a great one either since the whole Pythia system definitely needs to be reworked and Wilbur has done nothing but shit on the Deathlings and demean their religion since he was there, doing next to nothing to understand why they practice and believe what they do. He somewhat respects them as people and individuals but not their religion. Tommy ignoring (1) piece of Wilbur's restrictions isn't exactly on the same level.
Anyway, rant over. I probably should split this but I'm a sleepy little guy and have sports in the morning so I'm sorry to your inbox Bee. This is a monster.

shark anon hi!!!
yes yay for purpled appearance!! ngl I didn't have any plans to include him in this fic but then I was like "shit I need someone to act as a bouncer so wilbur can't just make a break for the door in the bar" and then I was like wait purpled exists so there he is
god I don't even know fully what's in the pythia's prophecy (probably gin, some kind of floral liqueur, dash of bitters, among other things idk I'm not a mixologist) but damn I wanna try it too
LMAO wilbur being introduced to the concept of agnosticism
ty i'm so glad the foreshadowing with the card reader was good!! also tysm I'm so happy you guys are liking the bird cage metaphors. I thought it was a really creative way to continue the metaphor trend I started in stars but with its own original twist to it
okay yeah you understand exactly what I was going for. tommy doing what he did is a whole messy situation that has no clear cut answer. wilbur has been a huge asshole to everyone around him since he got there which is understandable given that he was kidnapped yes! but he tried to murder tommy! tommy invading his privacy to find out his name is not comparable!
but yeah I think everyones reactions to this is just a reminder that 'oh my unreliable narration is working really well'. as you all know by now I love working with skewed POVs. it makes a story so much more interesting to have it filtered so heavily through a characters biases which is exactly what's happening here. tommy does not have the same insight into wilbur's head that the readers do. he is stumbling blindly trying to figure out what the best way to do this is. and we don't see into tommy's head either or how he came to the conclusion that this was something he had to do in the first place. again, biased POV my beloved.
it's definitely a necessary evil in the healing process. sure, maybe wilbur would've eventually gotten to a point where he could tell tommy his name himself, but tommy didn't know that. he was making zero progress as is. he got insanely defensive anytime pythian tradition was even slightly criticized, he wasn't going to gradually warm up to what tommy was trying to get through to him so tommy just decided to do it the quick way instead.
also, yeah, the disrespecting religion argument is just so funny to me because of how wilbur has been a huge dick about the deathlings worship this entire time yet still has this major cognitive dissonance moment where he's like "how DARE tommy disrespect clara like this" buddy you have been doing this even worse to kristin the entire time
anyway shark anon i love your takes as always so glad you enjoyed :D

Whatâs your opinion on each of the sdr2 boys? you donât have to answer but Iâd like to hear it so if ya want...
Well, since you posted how you feel about the SDR2 girlsâ writing, how would you rank the SDR2 boysâ writing?
Oh man, one of these asks is so old but youâll forgive me, right?
So, Iâll do both of these!!! The ranking btw is for the writing not personal feelings which I hope comes across because even if a guyâs at the bottom, that definitely doesnât make him the worst boy!!! I swear! I SWEAR!!!!!!
Good Tier
Kuzuryuu - Definitely the most solid with development and everything. Wish it wasnât piggybacking off of fridging Peko (and his sister), but ngl Iâm always kind of a sucker of the shitty tough guy learning to mellow the fuck out, and I like Kuzuryuu also being like...probably the most mature of the characters, which is sad but also funny. (Overall opinion is that heâs good! Very good! Definitely worthy of Best Boy title if heâs your type!)
Komaeda - My boyyyyyy. Super intricate and interesting with a worldview thatâs both simplistic and complex. I love him so, so much. And his attraction to Hinata is humanizing! Love that! Unfortunately, heâs still super demonized and having that happen to your character who is explicitly mentally ill is super uncool. Also, while I do like how and why he decided to die, I donât feel like that death was worth him getting cut out and used as a prop for Nanami. If he had been kept alive, it wouldâve been way better and less urghhhhhh. Or we couldâve, shouldâve had more introspection as a result of the impact his character had, similar to what I wished for with Mikan. But, nah. Fuck changing your view as the result of being challenged, I guess. (Overall opinion is that I would die for him.)
Kamukura - Is being included because yes. He only appears briefly, but whatâs there is just so interesting and good! Heâs an empty person who is only driven by spite and revenge against those who wronged him, and yet itâs also implied that deep down, he doesnât want to die. Itâs so sad! But intriguing! His motivations are clarified in dr0 (such as the fact that he was framed by Junko for the murders of the student council, but also with the added implied bit that even HPA was prepared to kill him in order to cover their ass), but even so, itâs so deeply tragic that Kamukura was made for the sake of ego (both Hinataâs ego and the ego of HPA), and he found himself getting used which lead to him willing risk his existence to take down everything in one fell swoop despite that not being a guarantee. Wahhhh. (Overall opinion is that it sure is a shame WE DONâT SEE HIM EVER AGAIN, not counting TDP.)
Couldâve Been Okay But URGH Tier
Hinata - My other boy. He sure is the other boy. In all seriousness, Hinata *is* probably my personal fave of the protagonists even if I think the Naegis are better written. I love his conflict of having such a severe superiority complex that heâs willing to throw out everything about himself in order to live up to it. I love how his desperate need to prove himself is, like, to himself. Heâs so self-centered in such interesting ways. Unfortunately Nanami is his prop and is given the emotional brunt of forcing his development, which sucks. (Overall opinion is that heâs definitely Kodakaâs self-insert but itâs free real estate when writing fics so heâs MY SELF-INSERT NOW.)
Twogami - THE BEST ENBY. Twogami was such a good character with several layers of tragedy and tbh theyâre a major reason why itâs great that no one actually dies in sdr2 besides Nanami. Thereâs something about not having any identity to call your own so you try to be someone important but like...itâs painfully obvious you arenât that person because you have strong morals and a good heart which powerful people often donât have due to detachment and corruption. Itâs something I can relate to. And as a character, that they gave their life to protect Komaeda was so heartbreaking. Itâs such a good thing Twogami isnât actually dead! Sadly though we do have issues with the writing because fat character obsessed with food, haha, but... I mean Twogamiâs the only one like that in dr and Owariâs the same way for the same reason so I guess itâs not the worst...still iffy though. (Overall opinion is that theyâre good! However due to being the first victim, theyâre not given a LOT of complexity and what complexity they have doesnât hold a candle to bby girl Sayaka Maizono but I mean theyâre still a good character for whatâs there.)
Just URGH Tier
Tanaka - Lmao, unpopular opinion alert but I just donât think heâs very good! For one thing, heâs kinda...barely there for the longest time. Heâs even the only character who has zero speaking lines in the first scene with the entire class. There are at least a few scenes where he contributes very little to the conversation. In general, he has little to offer until about Chapter 4, in which he makes up lies about how totally important he thinks survival is when that wasnât really a major concern of his before and Iâm PRETTY SURE he stole that from Nidai anyway. Super annoying but like, hey. At least that romantic subplot was okay. And, sure, if you like this character type, you could do worse. You could also do better. (Overall opinion is that I like his hamsters but thatâs about it.)
Teruteru - Heâs absolutely the most loathsome fucker that deserves more shit kicked out of him than any amount of sympathy, bUT... This is about writing, not about likability, and like, heâs written...okay. For one thing, his creepiness isnât excused nor elaborated on, thank fucking god. But as for whatâs actually there, itâs at least something. Heâs got actual character traits that could potentially make him interesting, such as his shame about his background despite clearly holding a lot of love for it. Like, thatâs a good internal conflict to have. If that was all there was, Iâd be pretty partial towards him, especially with his design being very cute. Alas.................... (Overall opinion is that Kamishiroâs better.)
Souda - The comic relief for dgrp tends to be mean-spirited and of the guys, Souda is more comic relief than character so he tends to be a fucking asshole and a creep. Itâs a shame because his backstoryâs sympathetic but the dude has like, no character arc. Heâs just...lucky in that he wasnât killed. He also kind of forces himself into the social situations, namely with Hinata and Sonia which isnât really cute when Souda doesnât treat either of them that well. If you like his character type, eh... You can do much, MUCH better when it comes to bro-y kinda abrasive best dude friends. Again, you can do worse, but those are usually romantic comedies not like...whatever dgrp is. I donât think Iâd say that I hate him though. Heâs just frustrating. (Overall opinion is that I think Yosuke Hanamura is more what this character shouldâve been like.)
Nidai - I do adore Nidai but itâs so obvious that the writing doesnât give a shit about him. Itâs pretty painful. Heâs inconsistently portrayed too, because sometimes heâs a compassionate and surprisingly perceptive guy who encourages others to push past their potential. Other times heâs a bumbling oaf who barely considers others because itâs more comedic. Any depth he couldâve had is often just relegated to shit jokes, figuratively and literally. Even his FTEs are painfully repetitive. Sucks, man. (Overall opinion is...me just sobbing.)

Despite claiming that I would take it easy, I actually spent a good 12 hours at con today, getting there at around noon and not leaving until almost midnight (!).  I probably loitered around longer than I should have... I woke up after a pretty good night's sleep and after showering it took me about half an hour to do makeup and get ready for everything.  I don't really terribly mind it too much but doing that for 3 days in a row might end up being a pain.  If I'm not feeling into it I might dial it back and just do eyeliner only or something. I got to con at around noon and grabbed a pita sandwich from Pita Pit to eat for lunch.  This is only my second time eating food from there and I did a terrible job ordering from Pita Pit last year, but fortunately I did much better this year.  The sandwich ended up being pretty expensive ($8-10??) but was actually pretty darn tasty. I ran into Isabelle as soon as I got to con and we hung out for a while, perusing the Gaming Hall (which was the only thing open at the time) and wandering around a bit.  (Here I also discovered that we had TGM3 not TAP set up!)  At one point we went out to take some photos of me in my outfit because the weather was this gorgeous cloudy sky that felt and looked great, but as soon as we set foot outside the convention center the sun came out behind the clouds and ruined everything. orz  Maybe tomorrow... Eventually we joined up with Kotaro and made our way through the Artist Alley.  Around this time I had also ran into a bunch of other people, including Lann, Alex, and their friend, Bleu, and even Poochy.  Going through Artist Alley was pretty fun and I even picked up a new Journey print (which you can see later below).  I think I felt this last year too, but this year going through Artist Alley I definitely felt myself glossing over so many of the more "cheap" art styles and the only things that really stood out to me were the ones that had good composition or just....were good artistically, haha.  It was interesting for sure. Me and Kotaro also spent a good deal of time in the Gaming Hall today, which was great fun.  We played through the entirety of Metal Slug 5, which was pretty fun, though I'm not sure it was the funnest Metal Slug game I've played.  I don't think I've ever played 5 before, as most of the stuff seemed pretty unfamiliar, but I think by far my favorite is still 2 (or X), for a lot of reasons. I also stopped by the TGM3 machine to play a round of Master mode, where I got an S5 or something mediocre like that after dying at 6xx or something (eh), which was also when we ran into Allen!  After that, we went and played the most awesomest game ever -- Bishi Bashi!  It was even in English this time, which was neat, and made the roulette game MUCH easier.  We did not too bad and I actually made it to level 17 before dying to the always-ridiculously-hard Sushi game.  It was easier being in English, but....not by very much at all.  RIP. I also managed to get some relatively fun games of SF 3rd strike in against a Dudley player who beat me a bunch until I finally eked out a win.  My skills were definitely rusty and all, but it was a good time and we both enjoyed it quite a lot.  Me and Kotaro also played through most of this random shmup called Wyvern Wings, eventually deciding to leave it at the last level. We also made our way through Dealers' Hall where we basically just skimmed over a bunch of stuff but didn't buy anything. At this point we were getting pretty hungry so we met back up with Isabelle and Wendy (who had just arrived) to go grab dinner.  We ended up going to HoM Korean Kitchen, which was not the place I was thinking of at all but was actually very good!  After that nice dinner we headed back to con, said a brief hello to Jeremy, then went back into the gaming hall where I parted ways with Kotaro and met up with Eddie instead!  Me and Eddie made our way to the swap meet where we did a pretty efficient sweep of the place and I actually came back with a pretty reasonable amount of stuff!  I'll go through the items in the photos section below.  One notable thing was that at one point a manga set of Kokoro Connect caught my eye and I was contemplating whether to buy it or not -- at $2 per book, it was only $10 total, which wasn't very much at all!  I remember very much liking the premise of the show and how it started off but also remember not liking how it ended / the second half as much.  I decided to walk away from it, but ended up coming back.  Unfortunately either they had misspoke or I had misheard and it was actually $3 per book...so I said no.  $15 is still pretty darn cheap for 5 books to be honest, but eh...it wasn't a manga  I particularly wanted to have. After that we thought about heading home but instead decided to stop by the ballroom for B&W ball staff private lessons.  We both joined in on a WCS private....but it wasn't very useful as it wasn't actually a "private" as it was more of a small group lesson and we were way ahead of the rest of the group.  So me and Eddie just ended up working on some stuff by ourselves afterwards, which was good!  After that Eddie took off but I hung around with the WCS instructors to glean some extra knowledge (they recognized me!), and they worked with me individually on some things too!  One thing that I've definitely come to notice with WCS is that (like a lot of other things) it's taught in so many different ways by different teachers, and it's really up to you to figure out what to "believe" and what you think is "right".  I think it's good that I'm not entirely vested in WCS because I feel like I'd be a lot more frustrated by that if I were. Here's the photos I got from today!
Me getting ready to head out in the morning! Â And sporting my new Journey messenger bag.
Made it to con!
Cute!
RWBY!
I caught this super cute Vanellope cosplayer, ahh!
This Toriel was super nice! Â She asked for my photo and I didn't even realize who she was until afterwards. Â She seemed super friendly >w<
Pepsi and Mountain Dew people...
I thought I recognized this somehow but apparently not; it was from some webcomic that I'm totally unfamiliar with. Â But I think something about the raven beak design reminded me of something else, I'm not sure what though. Â The crows from Monument Valley? Â The Toringen from Yume Nikki? Â I'm not sure...-something-...
Rose!
Wahhhh, definitely the highlight of all the cosplayers I saw today. Â It's Reina from my favorite show, Hibike! Euphonium! Â Wahhh~~
This guy was awesome. Â From the Emperor's New Groove!
I ran into another Journeyer! Â We stopped and had a bunch of photos taken, some with my hood and some without. Â As you can see my hood sucks in comparison! Â So I normally don't wear it =P Â This person had a silk-looking scarf that was printed with patterns on it -- he told me he had just ordered it online.
T-rex tries to play Para Para.
My haul for today! Â (and probably basically my haul for con) The Pita-Ten art book was $10! Â It was perfect because as the person was looking up the price I said to myself "hmm, I'll probably pay at most......$10 for this", and it turned out to be $10 =P Â Yay Koge-Donbo art~ The Nanoha booklet and pencil/eraser/ruler set was just $1! The Sumikko Gurashi re-ment was $7...probably the most pricey thing that I got, but I feel like Sumikko Gurashi things make pretty good gifts ^^;. Â Also I like them a lot now too. The 3 stationery sets were $1 each! Â And the one in the little book-shaped container has a few different designs in it. Â I always feel great taking other people's stationery off their hands because it's super cheap and I always get to tell the owners that they'll be put to good use :) The Hello Kitty.....thing....in the middle we have no idea what it is yet. Â The Katakana says "Sanrio Chara 'Puchisurara'" which made no sense to me....or the other two people I asked, who verified that it does indeed say "Puchisurara". Â Wat. Â Well, in any case it was only $3, so I got it anyways. Also right above that is a Cinnamoroll tape dispenser, only $1! And the Journey print was my get from the Artist Alley -- $7 or $8 if I remember correctly. Â It's a nice one, featuring a Scarf Jelly~ All in all not a bad day, though I probably stayed longer than I should have, and got pretty tired. Â As always it was really great when people recognized and liked my costume. :) Tomorrow my goals are mostly to hang out with Angela and Lann, and also perhaps to set up some private melee time with Eddie. Â And of course, after dinner, heading straight to Aivi & Surasshu's concert! Â And heading home straight after that. Thinking of going to con around lunchtime again...should make sure that I get a good night's sleep still!
