#Vrtra literally gave Estinien the same job Aymeric tried to give him

like, there's a really good meta reason for that which is that he has to be available to be in the main story at whatever time you play this questline so they CAN'T use him in this side story because if they did it would be really immersion breaking to leave him in the EW MSQ and run off and bump into him around Ishgard multiple times while he's supposed to be involved in a completely different story in VERY different places (though the teleporting fees probably wouldn't bother him like they do me).
On the other hand it literally feels IN CHARACTER that he'd find a narrative contrivance not to come to Ishgard and have a conversation with Aymeric.
Estinien Varlineau is so averse to having a normal fucking conversation with Aymeric that he didn't even show up to help with the Blasphemy Dragon during the caster quests.
Estinien "Wyrmblood". Didn't come help with a dragon issue.
Now that's commitment.
#I am pretty sure at this point that it would fix both of them#and the game is stringing them along because it's not time to put them to bed yet#because Estinien is popular and fun and needs to come on more adventures with us#or manifest directly in our houses/local Subway shop I DON'T KNOW THE LORE#anyway in the mean time Aymeric is TRAPPED because his story is much thinner#in that we can't interact with him as often and Ishgard politics are now side content#anyway Aymeric has a ton of stuff that can be explored in his character#and it's all corked up in this weird way where he asks about Estinien every time you see him#like that cork can't come out until they figure out their business#Vrtra literally gave Estinien the same job Aymeric tried to give him#Estinien needs to be picked up by the scruff of the neck and shaken#though I am now a Vrtra/Estinien shipper thanks to new content and Estinien ignoring Aymeric#so i don't wanna shake him TOO hard#ffxiv#what am I blathering about
