Hey y'all, it's P4A time!

The Project for Awesome (or P4A) is an annual event where we raise awareness of charities that make the world a little bit of a better place and we raise money to redistribute to charities voted on by our community. Legally speaking, the Project for Awesome is a project of the Foundation to Decrease World Suck (or FTDWS), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. The FTDWS exists to fundraise for the benefit of other nonprofits and only awards grants to organizations that are 501(c)(3) or foreign equivalent classified charities. The nine board members are John Green, Hank Green, Mike Green, Marie Ann Fernandez-Silva, Valerie Barr, Taylor Behnke, Benny Fine, Rosianna Halse Rojas, and Angela Lin. In 2024, we raised a grand total of $3,530,889.25, including several generous matching donations. 50% of donations went to Save the Children and Partners in Health, and 50% of donations were split between 30 charities chosen by the Project for Awesome community. i know people make these kinds of posts with fictional characters a lot but like. hank green truly is one of The Most Guys Ever. like. he's one of the earliest youtubers who is still on there. he's a 43-year-old tiktok star. he's a science educator. he got cancer and his response was to make a tier list of the press's coverage of his cancer announcement. the president of the united states sent him a message of support and he told the president that he was pissing out the cancer. years earlier he was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis and his response was to write a polka song about it. he created vidcon. he's the ceo of a company that produces a shitton of educational series (well, not acting ceo at the moment due to the aforementioned cancer). his guitar says "this machine pwns n00bs" on it. he invented 2D glasses. one of his earliest videos to get popular was about animal sex. between him and his brother, he was known as "the science one" (or "the music one") while his brother was "the writer one," and then he wrote two new york times bestselling novels. his most controversial opinion is that butt is legs. he's done so many things that there is a website dedicated to counting the number of days since he started a new thing. he and his brother use their internet following to (among other things) fight maternal/infant mortality in sierra leone. he has a baked bean furby. hes even bisexual

I started this year making a meme about John Green being back and I thought that would be the wildest thing to happen this year... Clearly I was wrong. I feel like the universe is just confused about what year it is... I'm in my mid 20s now and I don't need to be going through this again.

sobbing because it's entirely possible that someone who works on cancer research and treatment (maybe even specifically for hodgkins lymphoma) learned or reviewed biology through hank green's crash course episodes. like they are using the knowledge he presented to them to help him. maybe not directly but somewhere along the line there's reciprocity.

John and Hank Green created one of the longest enduring internet communities and still create killer content while giving their profits to charity but the Watcher boys are willing to fence off their community and only allow in the ones that can afford to contribute to them directly. that’s some bullshit
