So my Ollie (she is 9, I got her from the euth list at the shelter when I was in middle school) has Emphysematous cholecystitis (gas in the gallbladder) and needs emergency surgery to remove her gallbladder before it ruptures and she goes septic. It is a specialised surgery that my clinic does not perform so she needs to go to the university for a 3000 dollar emergency surgery to save her life. I am in college and also live in a trailer while working 2 jobs and selling my art so I’m obviously very poor. Any and all donations are appreciated and I can pay them back as well, I just really really don’t want to lose my sweet baby.

Grape Juice (the cat)

A little Chihuahua just named 'Guess'. Me too, little buddy. Me too.

A dog named Scully, full name 'FBI Agent Dana Scully'. We have their full name in the file. It tickles me every time.

A cat named Rye Bread, who... Yeah. Fuck man, that cat sure looked like rye bread. (same owner as the chihuahua)

A cat named Deckster because they tore apart their deck to find him as a stray (;_;)

Some days in veterinary medicine suck.

And some days, you get to explain to a brand new cat owner that her kitten following her around the house, playing with her feet and purring so much he drools means he enjoys her company and likes being around her.

Some days you get to tell someone that they are loved. And those are good days.

My vet tech friend has a gift for you guys

It's important to me that folks understand that it is deeply distressing to us as veterinary professionals to have to decline care due to pet owners' financial constraints. We're talking nightmares, panic attacks, break down sobbing in front of the entire ICU distressed.

We hate it, and we do everything we can to make it work for people and their pets. We are stuck in a broken system just like you are. Unfortunately, there is only so much that can be done for free before we stop being able to pay our staff, upkeep our machines, and purchase supplies.

Vets do not "only care about money," and if we did, we would be in a different field. We are not rich. I have 6 figures in debt from vet school and currently make less than I would working full time at McDonald's. Verbally abusing vet staff does not help anyone or anything, least of all your pet.
