The Artemis Website is Up! A Celebration!

Celebrating the moments of Up! The Artemis website is up, inspired by the movie Up, and our dedication continues to go up and up!

Truly a labor of love, our Artemis site is up! I went back to our development emails and they were from January 2020. From January to March, we worked on it slowly. When COVID-19 hit in late March, our world stopped. Colin and I regrouped, dug our heels in, and focused all of our efforts into the website. Between constantly sanitizing the shop to creating a CBD online experience, we finally reached the end. The site is LIVE!!!

We waited a year to create an online experience, because we wanted to learn and understand real stories and real journeys from people first. Every client that walked into the shop gave us invaluable insight and empowered us to create an online CBD destination that is truly personal. We are physician-led, science-rooted, and personalized wellbeing-focused. Weaving efficacy and relief together with the necessities of modern living, our goal is to create a meaningful CBD experience that’s an ode to your life’s fullest expression.

One of the things I’m extremely passionate about is promoting women-owned and BIPOC brands (Black, Indigenous, People of Color). We are constantly developing this category and can’t wait to onboard more high quality BIPOC brands, and share their voices and stories.

One of the things that make Artemis unique is our commitment to your wellness journey. A major struggle at the start of a CBD journey is usually dosing. Basically, how much to take. For each CBD drops, we will create a personalized dosing guide for you.

One of my favorite topics – skincare! We searched high and low, and curated a full collection of CBD skincare heroes. Personally, CBD skin oils have helped me tremendously. I had a really bad allergic reaction, and a rash formed and traveled to my forehead, cheeks, and chin. I was put on antibiotics, but my skin texture struggled to get back to normal. My face was dry, the aftermath of the rash left blotches of red bumpy spots all over my face, and the overall texture was rough. I carefully exfoliated, but the real heroes were my skin oils.

After washing and exfoliating my face, I applied a quarter of a dropper of my Saint Jane beauty oil and put a sheet mask over it. I let the sheet mask dry out (not completely but about 80%) and my skin completely changed. I did this for about 5 days straight, and my skin was deeply hydrated, super super smooth, and bouncy again. Now, I use this technique as a treatment once a week or if I need an extra boost before an important day or occasion.

We had so much fun shooting the homepage images! The art direction for this season is the theme of home. Little corners and small moments of here and there. Something familiar yet new, warm and comforting.

Wildflower CBD stick – I’m on my third stick now. I use it during my PMS and rub it on my stomach and lower back. On days when I feel sore, I rub it on my shoulders and feet. The roll-on application makes it easy to give extra attention to areas like the lower back, neck, and shoulders.

Saint Jane CBD skin oil – I have a few that I rotate between, but this one is my go-to! It helped me heal from the inflammation, it soothed the skin, and gave me a smooth soft texture.

Beboe CBD face mask – the trick is to exfoliate with your favorite exfoliator. Wash and dry face. Then apply the Saint Jane face oil on, wait a few seconds, and apply this mask over it. Wait for the mask to dry out (about 80% dry is perfect), peel off, press the remaining oil into face, wait a few minutes, and apply your favorite cream or moisturizer. Transformation to smooth, clear, and glowy skin complete!

Vertly CBD lotion – to help combat dry skin, I apply this on my legs and body right after showering. It has a beautiful scent and is lightweight so it absorbs quickly, leaving behind supple and smooth skin and is ideal for stressed muscles and overworked limbs.

Life Elements CBD bath bombs – this is a treat! Designed for relaxation and to help reduce sore muscles and cramps, soak after a long day at work, as a way to de-stress, and to help relieve aches and pain.

What cannabis shop would be complete without some CBD-infused products? Beboe also partnered with cannabis lifestyle brand, Sherbinskis, to craft a new strain, which will be available exclusively to The High End customers in California via white glove delivery service Emjay.

My Top 3 CBD Products

In this blog post I’m going to go into my favourite CBD products. Like all popular products, when you’re new to something it’s hard to know what the right product is, and your simply spoilt for choice. I find that whether I’m looking for somewhere to eat, or a new mascara, reading about other people’s experiences and recommendations are the most trustworthy guidance.

CBD comes in 3 main forms, CBD oil, CBD vape, and CBD creams. I personally don’t vape, but CBD oils and creams have been my saviour. So let’s explore my top 3 products and how I like to use them!

Reakiro CBD Oil

This is honestly my saviour. I always have it on me, wherever I go - so it’s super helpful that it’s pocket size. I read that Reakiro grow very high quality hemp in Europe, and I genuinely think that this is what makes their oil so great. The purity means that you can appreciate how natural it is, which means the effects really do feel like a blessing from nature. What more could you want from a product! The recommended way of using Reakiro CBD oil is to drop 3-6 drops under your tongue. I find this really handy on days when I don’t have much time (which can mean I’m a bit stressed!), but if I have more time I like to put it incorporate it in the kitchen - infusing food and drinks. I’ve read about people putting it in their coffee, but personally I don’t think that the two mix particularly well. I like to put it in herbal teas, turmeric and ginger in particular. One day I will have to do a post dedicated to CBD food and drink!

Cannuka Honey Lip Balm

So not only is this a super natural CBD product, it also includes honey! Did you know that honey has antiseptic and antibacterial properties and can be found in medicine? Not to mention it’s incredibly tasty. In the winter this lip balm was my categorical favourite, I found in the past when I have chapped lips sometimes nothing can save them and I’m just hopelessly putting creams and balms on. Layer after layer, not helpful! Would really recommend this product to anyone and everyone!

Each one has a salt base, infused with different botanicals and essential oil blends created by Gwyneth's acupuncturist. So far, I've tried G.Tox, for detoxing the stress and pollution of urban life. It's creamy, thanks to the charcoal and clay, and leaves you feeling super relaxed. (It's worth having to wipe down your tub afterwards!) The other blends include G.Nite for deep sleep; Phys.Ed. for sore muscles; Nurse! for when you're under the weather; and "The Martini" for taking the edge off a stressful day.

Herbivore Coconut Milk Bath Soak

If you love coconut and vanilla, you'll love Herbivore Coconut Milk Bath Soak. It's made from dehydrated coconut milk, which creates a fragrant, milky bath experience. There's also a high concentration of baking soda, famous for its soothing properties. This one leaves skin so soft and moisturized, I find I can easily skip body lotion.

Captain Blankenship Sky Dancer Calming Bath Salts

Captain Blankenship Sky Dancer Calming Bath Salts are one of three all-natural bath salt blends from a women-run indie beauty brand. Housed in their signature blue bottles, all have sea salt, Epsom salt, baking soda and Marine clay, but with different combinations of essential oils. The lavender-tangerine notes of Sky Dancer are indeed calming, while Orla is uplifting with rose geranium and blood orange, and Rusalka is like a walk in the forest with spruce and pine.

Pursoma Minerals de Mer Body Soak

Inspired by the sea, Pursoma Minerals de Mer Body Soak promises to detox and de-stress you with just three ingredients. Mineral-rich sea salt helps draw out toxins, and algae and chlorella are hydrating and soothing to the skin. Meant to soothe overworked muscles, it's high in magnesium sulfate, coconut oil, Dead Sea salt and Himalayan salt. You can either dissolve it in a bath, or apply it to damp skin as an exfoliant.

Dr. Singha’s Mustard Bath

Dr. Singha's Mustard Bath

Dr. Singha's Mustard Bath has a cult following amongst athletes, who swear by it for healing sore muscles post-training. The main ingredient is indeed mustard (in powdered form), along with essential oils and sodium carbonate. It was the creation of the late Dr. Shyam Singha, a London-based acupuncturist, osteopath and homeopath who was considered one of the most sought-after healers in '70s, '80s and '90s.

Salt by Hendrix Coco-Soak

Salt by Hendrix Coco-Soak is from an Australian-made skincare range focused on botanical ingredients and minimalist packaging. With fine grains of Dead Sea salt, coconut powder and aloe, there are three infusions to choose from. Matcha has matcha green tea; Rose has real rose petals; and Pomegranate has pomegranate extract. So far, I've tried Matcha and it creates an amazing milky bath that leaves your skin like silk!

African Botanics Kalahari Desert De-Tox Bath Salts

Unlike most bath salts, African Botanics Kalahari Desert De-Tox Bath Salts are made with Kalahari crystal salt, a pure and mineral-rich salt harvested from the Kalahari Desert in Africa. They're also unique because they're infused with caffeine—which de-puffs and treats cellulite—plus seaweed extract and marula oil for hydration.

Shiva Rose Venus Milk Bath

Shiva Rose Venus Milk Bath takes inspiration from Cleopatra, who famously bathed in goat's milk to preserve her beauty. So yes, you'll find goat's milk powder in here, along with baking soda, sea salt, lactose and amber oil. Bonus: The milk is a natural source of lactic acid, which gently exfoliates the skin.

This Works Deep Sleep Bath Soak

This Works Deep Sleep Bath Soak is all about promoting restful sleep. So, the sea salt base is spiked with chamomile and an array of aromatherapeutic oils, including lavender, patchouli and vetiver. There is some synthetic fragrance in here, but it's less than one percent (so it meets Sephora's "Clean Beauty" criteria).

Kaia Naturals The Sleep Detox Hot Bath

Another option for creating a relaxed state before bed is Kaia Naturals The Sleep Detox Hot Bath. In hot water, the minty magnesium and salt mixture should encourage a sweat, which will help release toxins while the body absorbs minerals. There's also a Matcha bath for detoxing and a Turmeric bath for sore muscles.

Herbivore Calm Soaking Salts

Herbivore Calm Soaking Salts are a fusion of Pacific sea salt, Himalayan pink salt, kaolin clay and my two favourite scents: ylang-ylang and vanilla. I find these ones take a little more time to dissolve, but make up for it with the cute packaging and affordable price! There's also a Detox version, with blue clay to draw out impurities.

Agent Nateur Holi(Bath) Coconut Milk Bath

Agent Nateur Holi(Bath) Coconut Milk Bath contains not only coconut milk powder but also salt, magnesium, calendula, chamomile, baking soda and honey. So, you're getting a little bit of everything in this one, with a jasmine, rose and sandalwood scent. Plus, there's no guessing about how much to add to your bath—it's already divided into 10 sachets.

Susanne Kaufmann St. John’s Wort Bath

For dry, sunburnt or stressed-out skin, Susanne Kaufmann St. John's Wort Bath is just the ticket. The St. John's wort extract is soothing for sensitivity, while cocoa butter and milk protein nourish the skin. This one has a cool fizzing effect when you add it to the water (thanks to the baking soda)

Ila Bath Salts for Inner Peace

Even the packaging of Ila Bath Salts for Inner Peace feels luxurious, it's such a heavy jar. Inside is a generous amount of Himalayan salt crystals, infused with organic rose otto, sandalwood and jasmine essential oils. These actually last a long time, as you only need one or two tablespoons per bath.

Botanica Nude Beach Bath Soak

Botanica Nude Beach Bath Soak had me at banana. This milky bath is a combination of powdered coconut milk and fragrant oils (and sounds good enough to eat!). There's also a Beauty Bath version, if you prefer violet and rose notes. From every product sold, the company donates $1 back to non-profit organizations in the areas where they source their fragrance ingredients.

Shea Moisture Muscle Relief Mineral Soak

Your best option on a budget is Shea Moisture Muscle Relief Mineral Soak. Unlike most bath soaks at this price point, it's completely free of chemical ingredients. Instead, they use Dead Sea salts, Epsom salts, baking soda, coconut oil and shea butter for a hydrating and relaxing experience.

Salt by Hendrix Soak Infusion

If you like the idea of bathing in flower petals, you have to check out Salt by Hendrix Soak Infusion. I've tried the Lavender + Hibiscus blend, which contains magnesium flakes, Epsom salt and Himalayan pink salt infused with real lavender and hibiscus. I was pleasantly surprised to find it turned my bath pink! There are two other infusions: Rose + Heather Flower and Globosa + Green Tea.
