Tom Hardy and his Marvel character Venom have given their names to a newly discovered Australian spider. The genus Venomius and its only current species Venomius tomhardyi were described following an expedition to Tasmania.

Some spider studies I've done before recent Deciphering pages. Until I've decided to draw eye flowers, I had an idea from previous page of eye mushrooms, and then I thought about eye spiders. But I asked my girlies how would they feel about lots of spider imagery with eyeballs, some of them cringed a lot x) So yeah, it was set to be dahlias x)

Venomius tomhardyi

In 2023 a new genus and species of spider was found in Tasmania. It was named after the actor Tom Hardy and the Marvel character Venom he played, due to the distinctive black spots on the spider’s abdomen resembling Venom’s head.

The spider is poisonous. It is an orb-weaving spider and belongs to the Araneidae family.

2 years ago today (how time flies), the 𝑽𝒆𝒏𝒐𝒎: 𝑳𝒆𝒕 𝑻𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆 𝑩𝒆 𝑪𝒂𝒓𝒏𝒂𝒈𝒆 premiere took place and we were able to see him in red, yellow, jeans... 😍💘🔥

At the moment, it's the latest one he has attended. If there is no actors strike by November, at the end of that month we will see him in the one of 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑩𝒊𝒌𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒅𝒆𝒓𝒔, and hopefully, the one of 𝑽𝒆𝒏𝒐𝒎 3 in July next year 🙏🏻💓

By the way, I hope 𝗧𝗼𝗺 says something about the new species of spider with his name and 𝗩𝗲𝗻𝗼𝗺's (venomius tomhardyi) 🤭👌🏻💖

Hoy, hace 2 años ya (cómo pasa el tiempo), se llevó a cabo la premiere de 𝑽𝒆𝒏𝒐𝒎: 𝑯𝒂𝒃𝒓𝒂 𝑴𝒂𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒛𝒂 y pudimos verle con ropa roja, amarilla, vaqueros... 😍💘🔥

De momento es la última a la que ha asistido. Si para noviembre ya no hay huelga de actores, a finales de ese mes le veremos en la que harán de 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑩𝒊𝒌𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒅𝒆𝒓𝒔, y con suerte, la de 𝑽𝒆𝒏𝒐𝒎 3 para julio del año que viene 🙏🏻💓

Por cierto, ojalá 𝗧𝗼𝗺 diga algo sobre lo de la nueva especie de araña con su nombre y el de 𝗩𝗲𝗻𝗼𝗺 (venomius tomhardyi) 🤭👌🏻💖

not much known abt them for now but. i’m so excited!!!!!

Sometimes I feel sad that my special interest is learning as a broad because I used love school so much but obviously the school system and being autistic and shit kinda ruined my experience and now I really struggle to engage in my own special interest.
