What would you say is the funniest/most amusing way Riley has developed from their initial design? (asking this since I'm just figuring out that my true(ish)sona, rather than being some big ol critter of their own, is literally the tailmaw that's a part of my fursona's newest (wip) design. Funny that, huh?)

Hm... funnily enough, I think the most entertaining thing about their development is how little they've changed as a character! Well, they've very much changed, but their defining traits have sorta been there since day one, y'know? Gay mess of an nb bass playing fen with lotsa childhood trauma. There have been some things that got tried out and scrapped, though!

I think the most notable one is that a character I haven't touched in a bit was initially gonna be Riley's love interest, an axolotl named Velka!

An EVEN GAYER mess of a local coffee shop owner, who to this day still probably has a dumb crush on the fox. I should bring her back...

What's something that mildly annoys you about the DS fandom? I'll go first: mainly lore relevant characters and lore relevant character interactions not getting cared about almost at all. Like what do you MEAN, across all the internet, there is not a SINGLE fanart of vendrick and aldia doing sibling shi togheter, like they're the literal two lore protags of ds2?? WHAT DO YOU MEAN THERE'S ALMOST NOTHING WITH ALDIA AND LOTHRIC??? AND GWYN AND VELKA?? AND VELKA AS A WHOLE FOR THAT MATTER SHE DESERVES SM MORE CONTENT LIKE COME ONNNNN I DONT CARE SHE DOESN'T APPEAR IN GAME SHE'S STILL IMPORTANT

Oops you need not respond to this but one thing I omitted in my previous ask that might be interesting, is that Velka probably had purple eyes?

Purple is the color associated with darkness in this game, and Velka is the heretical witch that dabbles in the dark. But also, Friede "assumed the form the people of the painting yearned for" which seems to be a sort of a composite of Velka & Priscilla. She wears the long hooded robe Velka is depicted with in her statues! This assumed form includes purple eyes too probably, since in her portraits before the change, she had a duller eye tone. And I think Velka's signature black hair since Yuria and Lilliane seem to have white, it's pretty black in concept art, though it's hard to tell in-game...

Also why "Caitha" who is Velka sheds blue and red tears... Because her eyes are purple!

But also purple hair preset in Dark Souls says that it's the hair color of a near-extinct race, and the child Beatrice model as well as Zullie's concept art seem to have this dark purple hair... The witch race!

Obviously both Zullie and Beatrice dress head to toe in purple too. It's a witch thing.

Anon, I did read your previous ask, and I should get to it later when I can because it is actually a very fair request and I should have posted something like this earlier! I am glad that you are happy with me posting the close-ups of Dark Souls 1 characters! However, I can answer this one right now so let me do it though

1) You've linked the article for Gwyn's family tree in your previous ask! I browsed through it and it is a really good one! You didn't need to link it to me though ahaha; I am well aware about all of these members in the family... after all, I am not just an artist, but also a loredigger!

I wanted to point out that the exact family tree is not something strict in the source material, but partially up to interpretation! Heck, people still argue whether Queen of Lothric is a separate character or not XD I will go through strictly-confirmed members with the references when I have my PC back though like you want to, it would be SUPER helpful to have them all in one spot and grab the post quickly!

2) I am REALLY not a fan of the theory of Caitha being Velka! If you like it, no shade towards you, I am just feeling very strongly about it personally and prefer to keep the characters separate from each other! I think they are more than fine as separate characters; the one crying for the victims of tragedies, including but not limited to victims of crimes, and seeking to soothe their pain AND the one punishing the guilty!

I fully agree with the idea that Velka's eyes would be purple, though, it has been my idea as well! And trust me the red/blue/purple thing HAS been driving me insane, as well as Velka, Narh Alma and Caitha being Gods connected with the Dark. But I've bounced off every idea and they are better off as separate characters at least for the sake of consistency! I am not a fan of conflating named characters with distinct motivations and vibes into one in general, but Caitha and Velka one is something I feel stroingly about.

3) Beatrice's child model doesn't have purple hair! This is just not true!

As for her concept art, I am not so sure either:

It doesn't look purple for me either, rather grey too!

As for Zullie's concept art, I'd say the same:

It can be interpreted as purple hair, especially from afar, but I'd think grey as well! It is a bit harder to tell with her, but as for purple clothing.. yeah, definitely the color of the Dark!

Buckle up cause I’m also gonna get in-depth with my art process below.

I start every drawing with a very very rough sketch in red, usually with a low opacity on top of a gray background. This sketch helps me establish composition.

On top of the red sketch, still in reduced (but not as low as with the red) opacity, is the blue sketch. Just a slightly more refined version of the red sketch, often I have to move some things around to make sure the composition really works.

With the blue sketch as a guide I’m able to do my favorite part!! Line drawing!!

Coloring mostly inside the lines like the mostly good girl I am, I create a grayscale value sketch, helps guide me later when I actually fill in the real colors and values.
