Fascinating denim patchwork from Devin Haney in his razor close, somewhat controversial decision win over Vasyl Lomachenko in Las Vegas on May 20th. Loma had a fairly understated black and gold look by Venom, with matching gloves and footwear (note the subtle Ukraine flags added on his trunks and gloves). Haney wore red and white Nike footwear and matched that to his red and white Grant gloves. You’ll also notice some slight red outline in HANEY across the waistband. I don’t love the denim patchwork -- however I give Devin credit for creativity and for his overall color scheme which I think worked nicely.

Omari Jones Shines in Debut, Jamaine Ortiz Dominates in Orlando Boxing Showcase
Saturday night’s boxing event at the Caribe Royale Resort in Orlando, Florida, showcased two thrilling performances that will leave fans eagerly awaiting what’s next for these rising stars.
Omari Jones Stuns in Professional Debut
In a remarkable debut, 22-year-old junior middleweight Omari Jones made a powerful statement, stopping Alessio Mastronunzio from Italy in the second round. The Olympic bronze medalist, fresh off his Tokyo success, wasted no time proving why he is one of the sport’s top prospects. Despite the early rounds being a process of sizing up his opponent, Jones quickly took control, landing a barrage of right hands that forced Mastronunzio to retreat.
The second round saw Jones assert complete dominance. His sharp punches rocked Mastronunzio back, and with just 22 seconds into the round, referee Luis Pabon intervened to end the bout. Although the Italian protested, the outcome was inevitable—Jones' speed, power, and precision overwhelmed his opponent. Promoter Eddie Hearn was full of praise for the young fighter, calling him a future superstar with the potential to headline major events.
Fans will not have to wait long for Jones' next appearance. He is set to return to the ring on April 12 in Atlantic City as part of the undercard for the Jaron “Boots” Ennis vs. Eimantis Stanionis fight.
Jamaine Ortiz Dominates Yomar Alamo
Jamaine Ortiz, the former world title challenger, faced Puerto Rico’s Yomar Alamo in a must-win match to remain a contender in the junior welterweight division. Ortiz, known for his technical skill, came out swinging with aggressive pressure, not allowing Alamo a chance to control the fight. From the opening bell, Ortiz took charge, using his southpaw jab and quick combinations to back Alamo against the ropes.
Though Alamo displayed resilience, landing a few counterpunches throughout the fight, Ortiz proved too strong. In round four, a spectacular sequence of punches, including a lead right hook followed by three uppercuts, left Alamo reeling. By the final rounds, Alamo’s right eye was nearly shut, but he refused to stop fighting. However, the judges had no trouble awarding Ortiz the unanimous decision, with scores of 99-91, 99-91, and 98-92.
For Ortiz, this victory is just one step toward regaining a world title shot. With prior losses to Vasyl Lomachenko and Teofimo Lopez Jr., Ortiz knows that consistent, high-quality wins are necessary to earn another opportunity at the top.
Carlos de Leon Castro Stays Undefeated
Earlier in the night, rising junior lightweight star Carlos de Leon Castro moved to 4-0, with a third-round stoppage of Carl Rogers. The 22-year-old’s relentless attack and technical precision overwhelmed Rogers, forcing the referee to step in and call a halt to the fight. Castro continues to build a strong record, and it won’t be long before he’s taking on tougher opponents.
A Memorable Night in Orlando
The boxing showcase in Orlando was full of action, from Jones’ dazzling debut to Ortiz’s dominant return to form and Castro’s perfect record. With Jones set for a quick return in April and Ortiz eyeing bigger fights, both boxers are poised for exciting futures. As they continue to rise, the next year will be crucial in their paths to world titles and headline bouts.
