This is the second episode or strip of VVS Akulalem. In this strip the adults get drunk and set up a water slide in the middle of the night. The kids want to play and the adults insist they go to bed.
This is another story taken from childhood. Please excuse the rough drawings I’m a better writer than an artist.
VVS Akulalem: Kid Free Zone:
Veronica’s house night: It’s a warm summer night in Australia. The children Veronica, Emily, Sweets and James are supposed to be in bed, but can’t sleep. Their parents are outside drinking and taking turns on a water slide in the backyard.
The kids want to join in on the fun:
Veronica: (Watching from the window): Why did they set up the slide without us?
Emily: (Sighs): Adults suck. I bet they won’t let us play. (The adults can be heard laughing and having a good time).
James: (Wide awake. He yells out to the parents): Can we play too?
Belinda: (Karen is taking her turn down the slide): No! Go to bed! (James is disappointed).
Veronica/Sweets: (Simultaneously): But, we can’t sleep!
David: Try.
Sweets: (Looks longingly out the window with the other kids): Please? Can we play on the slide?
Parents: (All): Go to bed! (David passes around another round of beers to the other adults. They’re fairly wasted by this point).
Veronica: (Annoyed): How can we sleep with all the noise? How come you guys can have fun in the middle of the night and we can’t. (Watches her mother take a turn on the water slide).
Sweets: (Looks at the clock on the wall behind them. It says it’s 1am): You may as well let us play because we’re not going to bed.
Karen: (Sternly): Go to bed young lady!
Kids: (All): But we want to play!
Veronica: It’s hot in here. We need the water to sleep.
David: Run a cold bath then go to bed!
Veronica: (Pissed): That’s not fun. We want to play on the slide.
Belinda: (Sternly): Go to bed. Don’t make me come in there! (The children groan and reluctantly go to bed).
Veronica’s house day: It’s early the next morning. The adults didn’t go to bed until 4am. They’re incredibly hung over after a night of drinking. The clock reads 6am and all the children are awake):
Sweets: (Pissed): We gotta get them back.
James: How do we do that?
Veronica: (Her stomach growls. They haven’t had breakfast yet): We could get the pots and pans and make a lot of noise to wake them up. They did it to us last night. (Sweets gets pots and pans from the kitchen cupboard. They run down the hallway banging pots and pans together screaming as they run).
Belinda: (Hears the noise. Her head hurts from drinking too much. She groans and rolls over. She tries to drown the kids out with a pillow. It doesn’t work because they come into the room banging pots and pans while screaming for their breakfast). Enough with the noise!
Veronica: (Smirking): We’re hungry.
David: (Sarcastically): Hi Hungry, I’m David.
Emily: (Ignores him): I want breakfast.
Belinda: (Groans and rolls over): Make your own.
Veronica: (Veronica and Sweets bang their pots and pans. Belinda can’t escape the noise): We’re children. We don’t know how.
Sweets: If you didn’t want so much noise in the morning you’ll let us play on the slide next time.
Belinda: (Groans. She relents and gets up to make them breakfast). Fine, but any more noise and you’re all grounded.

VVS Akulalem
This is an original work created by my friend and I. As I get better at drawing I hope to make full comic strips or episodes. VVS Akulalem is South Park inspired.
If it appears 90sesc, that’s because it is. I grew up in the 90s in Australia and as I mentioned before most of the stories are childhood based.
Eventually the Australian characters will move to the US where they will have trouble and ultimately refuse to assimilate. Even though all characters speak English their is still a language barrier because anything the Australian characters say to American characters makes no sense. The cultural differences will be obvious and the main girls will have cultural shock issues throughout the series.
